The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys won 57-52 over Winnebago in the C1-7 Sub-District Semifinals at Wayne High last Tuesday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull before falling 57-43 to the host Blue Devils in last Thursday night's Sub-District Final. The Raiders then lost 52-44 to St. Paul in the C1-5 District Final at Boone Central Monday night in action also aired on the Bull.
LVSS led pretty much the entire way against the Indians, and even pulled ahead by 15 points in the second half. Winnebago got hot from three point range in the fourth quarter and was able to close the gap, but the Raiders were able to prevail with the win.
Riley Hoetfelker scored 18 points for the Raiders, Garrett Kriete had 16, and Connor Larson added 10.
The Blue Devils got out to a 12-5 lead at the end of one. Wayne tripled up Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 9-3 in the 2nd quarter to take a 21-8 lead into the locker room.
The Raiders outscored the Blue Devils 14-8 in the 3rd quarter to make it a 29-22 game at the end of three.
Wayne outscored LVSS 28-21 in the 4th quarter.
Kriete did not play in the game for the Raiders due to injury.
The St. Paul game was close for three and a half quarters, with the Wildcats leading 11-9 after the first, the score tied 20-20 at halftime, and St. Paul led 31-29 after the third.
A pair of key three pointers, free throws down the stretch and a 21 point performance in the fourth helped St. Paul pull away for the eight point win.
Larson and Hoetfelker each had 11 points for the Raiders with Kayl Francis adding 10.
The Raiders came really close to breaking through and making State.
LVSS ends their season at 16-7 overall.
The Raiders have to be bummed and disappointed that they didn't qualify for State this year.
This was still a very good and talented team and Senior Class though.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder says goodbye to Hoetfelker, Jake Hagerbaumer, Larson, Kriete, Brett Uhing, and Jayden Korman.
Very talented and amazing Senior Class that will be remembered and missed for sure.
Key returners include Francis, Alex Meyer, and Aaron Fitzke.
It's hard to say what the future holds and how things will look for the Raiders next season.
With that said, I'm sure there are many talented and great and amazing student athletes ready to come in and make their mark on Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys Basketball.
The Raiders have to really get after it this offseason with conditioning, open gyms, and summer and team camps.
The upperclassmen have to lift up and help the younger kids develop while growing into leaders themselves.
A hard working, blue collar, positive atmosphere and foundation has already been established and laid, and now next year's team has to build upon that and try and make things even better.
Some things to work on and think about this offseason for sure.
