The Oakland-Craig Boys beat Clarkson/Leigh 53-45 at home in the C2-3 Sub-District Final last Thursday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull before falling 56-46 in OT to Bridgeport in the C2-3 District Final from Kearney High on Saturday in a game aired on the Bull.

Both teams were evenly matched in the third quarter, each scoring 10 points, and the Knights led 34-25 after three periods.
Oakland-Craig led by double digits multiple times in the fourth quarter. Clarkson/Leigh would often cut the score to within single digits, with the Knights still being able to keep the Patriots at arm’s length.
Clarkson/Leigh outscored Oakland-Craig 20-19 in the fourth quarter, but the Knights were able to achieve the win.
Head Coach Aaron Meyer after the game. "Yeah the start wasn't the greatest, we missed a bunny in there, and then kind of picked up. And got in a little bit of foul trouble at the end of the first half. Had some guys, Amon (Bryan) and Grant (Seagren) came off the bench and gave us really good time. Grant finished with one at the buzzer, kind of a pretty little play. 2nd half we just came out and played a little bit too soft defensively, and I called a timeout, thought I could get us to regroup. And we just weren't smelling blood like we could of been."
Carson Thomsen had 13 points and 7 rebounds for Oakland-Craig, with Jaron Meyer scoring 11 points and Coulter Thiele adding 10 points and 7 rebounds.
The Bulldogs led 11-6 after one. Both teams scored 16 points in the 2nd quarter, and Bridgeport led 27-22 at halftime.
The Bulldogs won the 3rd quarter 11-10 to extend their lead to 38-32 at the end of three.
The Knights doubled up Bridgeport 12-6 in the 4th quarter to tie the game at 44 at the end of regulation.
The Bulldogs outlasted Oakland-Craig 12-2 in the extra session.
Gunnar Ray had 18 points while Thomsen notched 11. Meyer added 7 rebounds.
Really nice season for the Knights, who came so close to making State.
Oakland-Craig ends the year at 17-8.
Ray led the team in scoring and rebounding this year as he averaged 18 points per game and secured a total of 137 rebounds.
He, along with the rest of the seniors will be sorely missed.
This year's Senior Class includes Ray, Caden Nelson, Thiele, Meyer, Jaden Harney, and Mike Maline.
Key returners for next year include Grady Gatewood, Thomsen, Bryan, and Seagren.
Lots of key losses for sure, but a good core group of upperclassmen to work with next season.
I anticipate the Knights being pretty solid once again next year.
Ray and Thiele and the rest of the Seniors are huge losses and won't be easy to replace though.
I think it will be imperative for Oakland-Craig to develop some new scorers and contributors besides what they have coming back in the offseason.
