The Tekamah-Herman Boys are 0-2 on the season so far, losing 56-32 at Stanton last Thursday night, and 45-34 at home to Pender Friday night.
The Mustangs tripled up the Tigers 18-6 in the first quarter. Tekamah-Herman won the second quarter 17-14 to make it a 32-23 game at halftime.
Stanton outscored the Tigers 13-5 in the third quarter to lead 45-28 at the end of three.
The Mustangs notched 11 points in the fourth quarter and held Tekamah-Herman to 4.
It has been a struggle so far for the Tigers, but I'm sure these boys are working hard. With that said, things don't get any easier with four straight road games.
Tekamah-Herman (0-2) takes on Wisner-Pilger (1-1) on the road Friday night in the first of those four straight road contests.
The Gators knocked off Emerson-Hubbard 72-25 last time out.
The Tigers are at a disadvantage in that they don't have a lot of boys out for basketball.
That makes things difficult in practice and during games. Having low numbers is never a good thing for a program, especially with Tekamah-Herman being as big a school as they are.
With this said, it's just something the Tigers have to deal with. Tekamah-Herman can't make excuses or feel sorry for themselves, they have to go out there and get the job done.
I think the Tigers have a chance to do some good things and be successful Friday night. I'm not real sold on Wisner-Pilger.
It will be interesting to see what happens though because so far Tekamah-Herman's offense has really struggled.
The defense hasn't been bad, but the Tigers need to really crank things up on both ends of the floor to improve as a team.
Tekamah-Herman has to keep working hard to improve and get better, whether that comes by a win or loss Friday night.
The Tigers also have a road game with Twin River on Saturday, and that game figures to be tough too.
This is an important weekend for Tekamah-Herman, in my opinion.
The Tigers really need to get things going to get their season turned around.
These boys have to continue to remain positive and fight through adversity.
Better times are ahead, and if these boys can remain positive and be willing to learn during these difficult games, they will be able to appreciate the good times when they come.
Success isn't easy and is never just handed to someone, it's earned.
And so Tekamah-Herman has to continue to fight and scrap as much as possible in practice and games in an effort to start winning.
The Tekamah-Herman Girls are 1-2 on the season thus far, falling 50-36 at Stanton last Thursday night, and 54-33 at home to Pender Friday night before downing DC West 48-19 at home Tuesday night.
The Mustangs held a 15-9 lead on the Tigers at the end of one. Stanton won the second quarter 12-7 to go up 27-16 at halftime.
The Mustangs tripled up Tekamah-Herman 9-3 in the third quarter to lead 36-19 at the end of three.
The Tigers outscored Stanton 17-14 in the fourth quarter.
Jess Fleischman led the way with 21 points.
The Pendragons led the Tigers 14-4 at the end of one. Pender won the second quarter 13-7 to take a 27-11 lead into the locker room.
Both teams scored 9 points in the third quarter, and the score at the end of three was 36-20 in favor of the Pendragons.
Pender outscored Tekamah-Herman 18-13 in the fourth quarter.
Fleischman totaled 13 points while Marin Jetensky notched 12.
The Tigers led the Falcons 10-4 after one. Tekamah-Herman outscored DC West 10-3 in the second quarter to go up 20-7 at the break.
The Tigers won the third quarter 7-6 to make it a 27-13 game at the end of three.
Tekamah-Herman notched 21 points in the fourth quarter and held the Falcons to 6.
Jetensky had a game-high 17 points while Maddy Horn notched 11. Fleischman added 7.
I thought the Tigers played their best game of the season by far against DC West.
Tekamah-Herman (1-2) squares off with Wisner-Pilger (1-1) on the road Friday night.
The Gators lost 44-39 to GACC last time out.
I think this is going to be a very good and close game.
I look for the scoring to be low, and for both teams to really get after things.
This would be a huge win for the Tigers win Twin River coming up on Saturday.
It would also serve as Tekamah-Herman's biggest win of the season, in my opinion.
I think the Tigers have a shot to win if they are clicking on all cylinders.
Jetensky and Fleischman have really impressed me, and Horn's performance Tuesday night really gave this team a lift and a boost, in my opinion.
Tekamah-Herman needs to continue to get multiple girls in double figures.
Perhaps the Tigers are starting to figure things out a little bit. The first week of the season with almost all new starters is tough, but now Tekamah-Herman appears to have worked their kinks out and gotten past the part of getting their feet wet.
These girls are now three games into the season so it's time for them to continue to step up and perform at the level they are capable of.
I feel like the Tigers have gotten better from Week 1 to Week 2, and I look for Tekamah-Herman to play a good game Friday night.
The Tigers are at Twin River on Saturday, and that figures to be a real tough challenge too so Tekamah-Herman needs to play well on Friday to give themselves some momentum heading into that contest.
I think the Tigers are capable of winning both games this weekend if they play up to their capability.
Tekamah-Herman's defense was really good in their last game, and I look for the Tigers to play at a really high level on that end of the floor both Friday and Saturday.
I think a good mixture of successful offense and defense is what it's going to take for Tekamah-Herman to come away with two victories this weekend.
I don't think the Tigers can do just one thing well and expect to win.
