Winnebago Boys and Girls start seasons 2-0

The Winnebago Boys are off to a really good start, beating Homer 101-18 on the road Thursday night before downing Walhill 89-66 at home Friday night.

The Indians held a 35-6 lead on the Knights at the end of one. Winnebago outscored Homer 33-8 in the second quarter to go up 68-14 at halftime.

The Indians shutout the Knights 22-0 in the third quarter to lead 90-14 after three.

Winnebago won the fourth quarter 11-4.

The Indians led the Blujays 21-4 at the end of one. Winnebago won the second quarter 25-22 to take a 46-26 lead into the locker room.

The Indians outscored Walthill 23-20 in the third quarter to go up 69-46 at the end of three.

Both teams scored 20 points in the fourth quarter.

I thought Winnebago was as good as advertised last week. It was a great start to the season for the Indians.

Winnebago (2-0) hosts Omaha Nation (1-1) Thursday night.

The Chiefs won 72-58 at Santee last time out.

Omaha Nation's loss came to BRLD, 65-52.

I don't think the Chiefs are a bad team, but I don't think Omaha Nation is a threat to Winnebago, especially with the game being on the Indians' home floor.

I look for both teams, but especially Winnebago, to put up a lot of points.

Defense has proven to be somewhat of a challenge for the Chiefs so far this season, and the Indians have been superb offensively.

David Wingett, Drake Gorrin, D'Von LaPointe, Manape Cleveland, and others need to have good games for Winnebago.

I look for the Indians to be on top of their game, and run away with things Thursday night.

I think Winnebago will roll to a big win as long as they are focused and determined.

The Indians have big games coming up in the Lakota Nations Invitational and the clash with Class A powerhouse Omaha Central at Ralston Arena on December 22nd.

Winnebago can't get caught looking ahead though.

The Indians have to be focused on the Chiefs, and picking up a win over Omaha Nation.

Winnebago can turn their attention to other games after they play the Chiefs.

Regardless of how well the Indians play or how focused they are, I would be awfully surprised if they lost to Omaha Nation.

The Chiefs appear to be somewhat of a decent team, but I just don't see them beating Winnebago.

The Winnebago Girls are also 2-0 on the season as the Indians beat Homer 70-68 on the road Thursday night, and downed Walthill 63-49 at home Friday night.

I thought the Indians did a great job against both teams. A 2-0 start is a big deal for Winnebago.

The Indians (2-0) host Omaha Nation (1-1) Thursday night.

The Chiefs beat Santee 66-44 on the road Friday night.

Omaha Nation doesn't appear to be too bad of a team, and I think this could be a challenging game for Winnebago.

I think the Indians can definitely win, and have a good chance to do so being at home, but the Chiefs have to be respected and considered a threat to win.

Winnebago won their opener by outscoring Homer, and sort of did the same thing against Walthill, although it appears the Indians were stronger defensively in that game.

I do think Winnebago will win if they can hold Omaha Nation under 50 points.

The Indians have been consistent offensively so far, now it's a matter of getting the defense to be consistent.

I would say Winnebago has started to figure some things out defensively, but isn't all the way there yet.

I look for the Indians to play a good game on Thursday and put themselves in a good position to win.

It would be a really big deal for Winnebago to be 3-0 heading into the Lakota Nations Invitational.

The Lady Indians appear to be strong just like their male counterparts, and crowds should be big for their games if they haven't been already.

I'm sure fans file in with the main reason of watching the boys, but now with the girls having success, perhaps fans will get into their games a little more.

It's an exciting time for Winnebago Basketball, and the girls are certainly leaving their mark so far this season.

I look for the Lady Indians to continue their solid play on Thursday and give themselves a good chance to win.
