The Clarkson/Leigh Boys Basketball Team went 0-3 last week, losing 73-35 at home to Oakland-Craig last Tuesday night, falling 36-31 at Winside Thursday night, and dropping a 64-22 decision at BRLD Friday night.

Oakland-Craig won the 3rd quarter 15-12 to go up 47-29 at the end of three.
The Knights put up 26 points in the 4th quarter, and held the Patriots to 6.

The Wolverines outsored Clarkson/Leigh 28-5 in the 3rd quarter and to lead 62-15 at the end of three in a game that had a running clock.
The Patriots won the 4th quarter 7-2.
Lance Paprocki and Gall had 6 points apiece to pace Clarkson/Leigh.
Clarkson/Leigh Head Coach Jeff Bachman on the loss. "We knew that coming in we needed to play really good basketball to stay with them and compete with them. We did not do that. We turned it over too much. Our defense was very poor tonight. We expect more out of ourselves, but BRLD's a tough team."
The Patriots (0-5) travel to Pender (2-2) Thursday night to take on the Pendragons in a game that will be aired on 107.9 the Bull.
Pender won 55-40 at Allen Monday night.
The Pendragons are a much improved team this year, and this figures to be another difficult game for Clarkson/Leigh.
The Patriots have to be better on both ends of the floor if they are to have a chance in this one.
Clarkson/Leigh has to box out and rebound well, and must also contest shots.
Taking care of the ball, finding good open looks at the basket, and converting open layups and shots will be important for the Patriots.
Clarkson/Leigh also has to get to the free throw line and convert a high percentage there.
I look for the Patriots to play better than they have been seeing as they will have had almost an entire week to prepare for Pender.
Clarkson/Leigh has to get off to a fast start, and must play a complete, four quarter game and finish strong as well.
The Patriots had a great chance to beat the Wildcats, but let things slip away in the 2nd half.
It's games like those where Clarkson/Leigh has to close things out when they have the chance.
The Patriots have to focus on slow down the Pendragons' Sam Mailoux.
He has recorded double-doubles in Pender's last two ball games, and is a big force to be reckoned with.
Beller, Bruhn, Paprocki, Haden Held, Schroeder, and others have to step up and score for Clarkson/Leigh.
The Pendragons have to be more effective and efficient on the offensive end, and have to cut down on turnovers.
The Patriots also have to find ways to get more defensive stops between getting steals and limiting teams to just one shot per possession.
The game will be played after the girls game. The Bull's coverage of the girls game will start around 6:00 p.m. with Kent Aurich on the call. Should be a fun one, and I hope you will all tune in and listen to the game.
The Clarkson/Leigh Girls picked up a big 36-30 home win over Oakland-Craig last Tuesday night before beating Winside 57-5 on the road Thursday night. The Patriots lost 50-39 at BRLD Friday night before downing David City 42-31 on the road Tuesday night.
The Knights led the Patriots 19-9 at the end of one, and outscored Clarkson/Leigh 13-8 in the 2nd quarter to take a 32-17 lead into the locker room.
Oakland-Craig won the 3rd quarter 15-12 to go up 47-29 at the end of three.
The Knights put up 26 points in the 4th quarter, and held the Patriots to 6.
Kaegan Held had 10 points while Ashlynn Novotny totaled 8 points and 8 rebounds.
Clarkson/Leigh went up 17-1 on the Wildcats at the end of one. The Patriots outscored Winside 20-2 in the 2nd quarter to take a 37-3 lead at halftime.
Clarkson/Leigh outscored the Wildcats 12-2 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 49-5 at the end of three.
The Patriots shut out Winside 8-0 in the 4th quarter.
Beth Wiese and Halee Steffensmeier notched 16 points apiece to lead Clarkson/Leigh.
The Wolverines took a 15-6 lead after one before the Patriots doubled up BRLD 18-9 in the 2nd quarter to tie the game at 24 thanks to a Kaegan Held buzzer beater at halftime.
Clarkson/Leigh won the 3rd quarter 10-9, and the score after 3 was 34-33 in favor of the Patriots.
The Wolverines saved their best for last, outscoring Clarkson/Leigh 17-5 in the final stanza.
Kim Stodola had a team-high 16 points and totaled 8 rebounds for the Patriots. Held chipped in 8 points while Novotny registered 7. Paige Moore registered 9 rebounds while Wiese posted 7.
The Patriots led the Scouts 13-9 after one. Clarkson/Leigh won the 2nd quarter 12-11 to take a 25-20 lead into the locker room.
The Patriots outscored David City 9-4 in the 3rd quarter to lead 34-24 at the end of three.
Clarkson/Leigh put up 8 points in the 4th quarter compared to the Scouts, who scored 7.
Held led the way with 10 points while Moore recorded 9. Stodola chipped in 8 while Sara McEvoy contributed 7.
The Patriots are playing excellent ball right now. Clarkson/Leigh was one quarter away from being 4-0 in their last four games.
The Patriots (4-2) battle Pender (3-1) on the road Thursday night in a game that will be aired on 107.9 the Bull.
The Pendragons won 61-19 at Allen Monday night.
This should be a great game between two very good teams.
Pender has done some nice things this season as has Clarkson/Leigh.
The Patriots have to come out and play strong defense, and slow down the likes of Faith Morris, Ashley Ostrand, and Sarah Krueger.
Those three are the big scorers for the Pendragons, and really make Pender go.
Clarkson/Leigh has to play suffocating defense like they have all season.
Defense is going to definitely win this game for the Patriots, in my opinion. Clarkson/Leigh probably needs to keep this one in the 30's or low 40's to win.
That's how the Patriots have won a lot of their games this season.
Scoring in the 50's and 60's isn't common for Clarkson/Leigh even though I'm sure the Patriots would like to score that much on a consistent basis.
Clarkson/Leigh should strive to score as many points as possible, but at the end of the day it's the defense that's going to continue to get the Patriots over the hump I feel.
I'm sure this team takes a lot of pride in their defensive work, and it really shows.
Clarkson/Leigh has to play tight, pressure defense, and get Pender in foul trouble.
The Patriots got Oakland-Craig in a lot of foul trouble, and it was ultimately one of the biggest differences if not the biggest difference in the game.
Defense is going to be very important against the Pendragons as well as Clarkson/Leigh is going to need to keep playing the way they have defensively to come out on top.
The Patriots are building something great, and this is a team that could stand in Clarkson/Leigh's way of making state as the two are in the same sub-district.
These are the types of games you build, prepare, practice, and play for, and so the Patriots have to bring a little something extra knowing Pender is a sub-district and conference team.
Coverage will begin around 6:00 p.m. on the Bull with Kent Aurich providing the play-by-play.
