North Bend Central Boys beat West Point-Beemer and Stanton; Girls 2-1 in last 3 games
The North Bend Central Boys Basketball Team topped West Point-Beemer 65-56 on the road last Thursday night before winning 69-25 at home over Stanton Tuesday night.
The Tigers led the Cadets 19-15 after one. Both teams scored 16 points in the 2nd quarter, and the score at halftime was 35-31 in favor of North Bend Central.
The Tigers outscored West Point-Beemer 16-6 in the 3rd quarter to go up 51-37 at the end of three.
The Cadets won the 4th quarter 19-14.
John Emanuel had a game-high 18 points while Austin Endorf totaled 17. Jaxon Wietfeld added 12 while Tanner Wietfeld scored 11.
The Tigers jumped out to a 22-8 lead on the Mustangs after one, and won the 2nd quarter 12-8 to take a 34-16 lead into the locker room.
North Bend Central outscored Stanton 22-4 in the 3rd quarter to go up 56-20 at the end of three.
The Tigers notched 13 fourth quarter points compared to 5 for the Mustangs.
Tanner Wietfeld had 26 points to lead the way while Emanuel and Endorf registered 14 and 12, respectively.
North Bend Central has continued to play great basketball. Not much if anything is going wrong for the Tigers right now.
North Bend Central (4-0) plays host to Parkview Christian (3-1) on Saturday.
The Patriots won 80-26 at College View Academy Tuesday night.
Parkview Christian may be a D-2 school, but they are very good.
The Patriots' lone loss is by 18 to undefeated Elmwood-Murdock.
The Tigers are going to need to play very good defense to come out on top I would say.
Parkview Christian has scored over 60 points in 3 of their 4 games this season, and appear to have a prolific offense.
The Patriots also won a defensive battle earlier this season, beating two-time defending Class D-1 State Champion Nebraska City Lourdes, so you know Parkview Christian can ball.
With that said, North Bend Central is a C-1 power, and can play some ball themselves.
The game being in North Bend should be an advantage for the Tigers.
North Bend Central has to come out and be ready to play a four quarter game, and has to continue to build upon what they've done so far this year.
Both Wietfeld's, Emanuel, and Endorf need to keep up their scoring prowess, and others have to follow suit.
This Tiger team is the real deal and complete package, in my opinion, and is going to be a major force and team to be reckoned with in Class C-1 this season.
North Bend Central has to continue to play well these next couple of games to get themselves ready for next Friday night's showdown at Milford.
The Tigers should be undefeated heading into that game if they can get by the Patriots, but North Bend Central has to be fully focused on Parkview Christian at the moment.
The big thing for the Tigers is to continue to take things one game, one practice, and one day at a time.
North Bend Central can't worry about next week. All the Tigers can do is control the present, and do their best to win on Saturday.
The North Bend Central Girls Basketball Team downed West Point-Beemer 49-35 on the road last Thursday night before falling 35-30 at home to Stanton Tuesday night. The Tigers rebounded to top Pender 61-50 at home Friday night.
The Tigers jumped out to an 11-2 lead on the Cadets at the end of one. West Point-Beemer won the 2nd quarter 9-8 to make it a 19-11 game at halftime.
The Cadets put up 13 points in the 3rd quarter compared to 12 for North Bend Central to get within 7 at 31-24 at the end of three.
The Tigers outscored West Point-Beemer 18-11 in the 4th quarter.
Lauren Emanuel had a game-high 16 points while Brooke Fredrickson totaled 15.
The Tigers led the Mustangs 5-2 after one. Stanton outscored North Bend Central 9-5 in the 2nd quarter to lead 11-10 at halftime.
The Tigers won the 3rd quarter 11-9 to regain the lead at 21-20 at the end of three.
The Mustangs put up 15 points in the 4th quarter compared to 9 for North Bend Central.
The Tigers led the Pendragons 13-11 after one. North Bend Central led by as much as 7 in the 2nd quarter before Pender tied the game. The Tigers held a 27-24 lead at halftime after winning the 2nd period 14-13.
North Bend Central outscored the Pendragons 17-15 in the 3rd quarter to go up 44-39 at the end of three.
The Tigers notched 17 points in the 4th quarter compared to 11 for Pender.
Fredrickson led the way with 18 points while Lux registered 14.
The Tigers played great against the Cadets, in my opinion, but struggled offensively against Stanton for whatever reason. North Bend Central didn't struggle against the Pendragons offensively though.
North Bend Central (4-1) hosts Raymond Central (2-3) Thursday night.
The Mustangs beat DC West 58-44 on the road Friday night.
The Tigers should be able to win this one although the Mustangs appear to be better than their record.
I think this might be a close game that North Bend Central wins by a small margin.
I could see the Tigers continuing to play well offensively like they did against Pender, and win by 10-15.
North Bend Central needs to play well with a showdown at Milford on Friday.
The Tigers are certainly capable of beating the Eagles, but need to worry about taking care of business against Raymond Central first.
Fredrickson, Emanuel, and Lux need to have big games for North Bend Central, and be on top of their game.
The Tigers' defense also has to be up to snuff. North Bend Central has to play shutdown defense like they normally do.
The Tigers played well offensively against the Pendragons and played pretty good on offense against West Point-Beemer, but struggled against Stanton.
Subsequently, North Bend Central played strong defense against the Cadets and Mustangs, and what I would call decent defense against Pender.
Now it's matter of playing lights out offense and defense.
I think the Tigers did a nice job bouncing back from the Stanton loss, now North Bend Central just has to continue to build on that and reach their full potential.
I feel the Tigers are capable of heading into the Holiday Break with just the one loss.
North Bend Central has to have a good week of of practice and preparation for Thursday and Friday's ball games.
The Tigers have to simply keep working hard and grinding.
Thursday's game will be aired on 107.9 the Bull starting around 6:00 p.m.
