Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys 2-1 in last 3 games; Girls 1-2 in same span
The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys Basketball Team is 2-1 in their last three games, beating Wayne 65-27 at home last Tuesday night before losing 61-42 at Wahoo on Saturday, and winning 60-40 at Columbus Lakeview Tuesday night.
The Raiders led 17-2 at the end of one and outscored the Blue Devils 16-5 in the 2nd quarter to take a 33-7 lead into the locker room.
LVSS put up 26 points in the 3rd quarter compared to 7 for Wayne to make it a 59-14 game at the end of three.
The Blue Devils won the 4th quarter 13-6.
Jacob Polk had a game-high 28 points while Ben Moxness totaled 17.
The Warriors jumped out to a 20-4 led on the Raiders at the end of one. Wahoo outscored LVSS 13-7 in the 2nd quarter to go up 33-11 at halftime.
The Raiders won the 3rd quarter 16-12 to make it a 45-27 game at the end of three.
The Warriors were a point better than LVSS in the 4th quarter, putting up 16 compared to 15 for the Raiders.
Polk had 22 points while Moxness registered 8.
The Vikings led LVSS 13-12 at the end of one. Columbus Lakeview doubled up the Raiders 10-5 in the 2nd quarter to take a 23-17 lead into the locker room.
LVSS won the 3rd quarter 14-5 to go up 31-28 at the end of three.
The Raiders outscored the Vikings 29-12 in the 4th quarter.
Polk totaled 29 points while Moxness posted 22 points and 7 rebounds.
Polk and Moxness are great players for LVSS, although that's something you don't already know.
The Raiders (4-1) take on Tekamah-Herman (0-4) on the road Friday night.
The Tigers lost 63-21 at home to Twin River on Saturday.
It has been a tough year for Tekamah-Herman, but LVSS has to still come ready to play.
Lakeview gave the Raiders a game through 3 quarters, and the Tigers are certainly capable of competing with and making things interesting against LVSS.
The Raiders have to come out and play better in the first 3 quarters than they did against the Vikings.
LVSS played a great 4th quarter against Lakeview, but the Raiders have to be better than they were through the first 3 quarters.
With that said, LVSS should be able to play a good game and prepare themselves for a tussle with DC West on Tuesday.
I look for Polk and Moxness to have big games for the Raiders, and for other players to get involved.
I think this is one of those games where everyone should and will get ample playing time.
This also one of those games where other players besides Polk and Moxness should be able to step up and score points.
I don't know if LVSS can consistently rely on those two to do everything.
I'm not sure the Raiders will beat teams like Wahoo unless other players step up and help those two out.
The Warriors shut down Moxness, and if one of them is off then LVSS is definitely at a disadvantage.
With that said, the Raiders should be able to win their remaining two ball games before the Christmas Break.
The most important thing for LVSS, in my opinion, is to be tough, sharp and resilient.
The last thing the Raiders want is to come out sluggish on Friday, or Tuesday for that matter.
LVSS has to play two good games to get ready for the Holiday Tournament.
The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Girls Basketball Team lost 79-37 at home to Wayne last Tuesday night before winning 52-25 at Cedar Bluffs last Thursday night before falling 44-26 at Columbus Lakeview Tuesday night.
The Blue Devils led the Raiders 19-10 after one. Wayne outscored LVSS 23-11 in the 2nd quarter to go up 42-21 at halftime.
The Blue Devils won the 3rd quarter 19-8 to lead 61-29 at the end of three.
Wayne put up 18 points in the 4th quarter compared to 8 for the Raiders.
Shaylin Daugherty had 11 points and 10 rebounds, good enough for a double-double. Ashley Peters added 7 points.
LVSS led 13-5 at the end of one against the Wildcats. The Raiders won the 2nd quarter 13-8 to take a 26-13 lead into the locker room.
LVSS outscored Cedar Bluffs 17-5 in the 3rd quarter to go up 43-18 at the end of three.
The Raiders won the 4th quarter 9-7.
Kaylee Boyle led the way with 26 points while Morgan Morgan totaled 7 points and 13 rebounds. Ashley Uhing chipped in 7 rebounds.
The Vikings led LVSS 11-5 after one. The Raiders won the 2nd quarter 14-12 to make it a 23-19 game at halftime.
Columbus Lakeview outscored LVSS 10-4 in the 3rd quarter to go up 33-23 at the end of three.
The Vikings put up 11 points in the 4th quarter and held the Raiders to 3.
Morgan had a team-high 7 points while Daugherty totaled 9 rebounds.
I thought LVSS did a nice job competing against Cedar Bluffs and Columbus Lakeview, at least in the 1st half of the game against the Vikings. The Wayne game was simply tough though.
The Raiders (1-4) travel to Tekamah Friday night to battle Tekamah-Herman (0-6).
The Tigers lost 49-22 at home to Yutan Tuesday night.
This should be a really good game.
I think LVSS has an excellent chance to pick up their 2nd win of the season.
The Raiders have to play hard, smart, aggressive, and most importantly must have fun.
LVSS has to play the way they did in the 1st half against the Vikings.
If the Raiders can put together a good four quarter game I think they've got an excellent chance to win.
LVSS needs good games from Boyle, Morgan, Daugherty, and others.
The Raiders have to come alive offensively and play good smart aggressive defense as well.
LVSS has to pressure the ball relentlessly due to the Tigers' struggles at point guard.
The Raiders have to hound Tekamah-Herman defensively and force the Tigers to earn their points the hard way.
LVSS has to try and contain Marin Jetensky and Jadyn Fleischman.
Those two are Tekamah-Herman's best players I would say, and they are the ones that do a lot of the scoring for the Tigers.
The Raiders have to give an all out effort in everything they do Friday night.
LVSS has to play with a sense of urgency and purpose seeing how winnable this game is.
The Raiders have to make smart, crisp passes, look for good shots, find easy layups, be ready to shoot, and get to and convert at the free throw line.
LVSS also has to rebound and box out well, in addition to contesting shots.
If the Raiders do these things well then they should have a good chance to win.
