Winnebago Boys 0-2 in last two games; Girls 0-3 in last three

The Winnebago Boys fell 53-22 at Adams Central on Saturday, December 14th before losing 86-66 at Oakland-Craig last Tuesday night.

The Patriots led 5-2 after one, and doubled up the Indians 16-8 in the 2nd quarter to take a 21-10 lead into the locker room.

Adams Central outscored Winnebago 13-4 in the 3rd quarter to go up 34-14 at the end of three.

The Patriots outscored the Indians 19-8 in the 4th quarter.

Oakland-Craig went up 27-16 on the Indians after one, and won the 2nd quarter 16-12 to take a 43-28 lead into the locker room.

Winnebago outscored the Knights 23-13 in the 3rd quarter to make it a 56-51 game at the end of three.

Oakland-Craig doubled up the Indians 30-15 in the 4th quarter.

Tough sledding for Winnebago so far this year.

The Indians (1-4) faces Neligh-Oakdale (1-5) in the Shootout on the Elkhorn on Monday.

The Warriors lost 61-46 at Bloomfield last Friday night.

I look for Winnebago to win this one.

The Indians have to get out and run, run, run, and use this game as a springboard to a winner's bracket game on Tuesday.

I don't think Winnebago has had the type of the season so far that they were expecting to.

I look for the Indians to come out and play extremely hard and well on Monday.

I'm willing to bet Winnebago has been hooping quite a bit since last Tuesday.

I'm guessing the Indians have been chomping at the bit to get back out there and do some damage.

Winnebago has to blow Neligh-Oakdale out, and put a dent in the scoreboard.

The Indians have to play up tempo basketball and above the rim.

Winnebago has to get back to their old ways like they thought they were going to this season.

It's not how you start it's how you finish, and the Indians need to do everything they can to pick up a couple of wins in this Holiday Tournament.

Winnebago will play either Wakefield or the Norfolk High JV on Tuesday, and both of those teams figure to present challenges.

I'm thinking the Indians may play the Trojans, and that would definitely be a challenge for Winnebago.

I'm sure the Indians would be up for the challenge though, and would welcome a matchup with Wakefield.

Winnebago has to win big over the Warriors to create a lot of momentum heading into Tuesday's game.

This is a must win for the Indians. Winnebago simply cannot afford to lose.

Monday's game is scheduled to tip-off at 4:00 p.m. at Wisner-Pilger.

The Winnebago Girls won 43-41 at Adams Central on Saturday, December 14th before falling 64-59 at Oakland-Craig last Tuesday night, and 68-40 at GACC last Thursday night.

Jayla Price had 15 points and 8 rebounds against the Patriots while Maddy Cleveland and Natasha Deal notched 9 apiece. Jaidan Payer added 7 points while Keisha Snyder totaled 13 rebounds.

The Knights and Indians were tied at 10 at the end of one. Oakland-Craig won the 2nd quarter 18-12 to take a 28-22 lead into the locker room.

Winnebago outscored the Knights 22-13 in the 3rd quarter to pull in front 44-41 at the end of three.

Oakland-Craig outscored Winnebago 23-15 in the 4th quarter.

Snyder had a double-double of 18 points and 15 rebounds while Price notched 17 points. Deal added 10 points while Cleveland chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. Payer contributed 7 points.

GACC doubled up the Indians 16-8 in the 1st quarter. Winnebago won the 2nd quarter 11-10 to make it a 26-19 game at halftime.

The Bluejays outscored the Indians 27-12 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 53-31 at the end of three.

GACC won the 4th quarter 15-9.

Really good play for Winnebago up until the game with the Bluejays. Not sure what happened to the Indians in that one.

Winnebago (4-2) battles Wakefield-Allen (4-1) in the Shootout on the Elkhorn at Wisner-Pilger Monday morning.

The Trojans won 56-55 at Stanton last Friday night.

This game figures to be a definite challenge for the Indians, but I feel Winnebago can definitely win.

And if Winnebago wins, guess who they would likely play on Tuesday? Most likely Ponca.

Winnebago nearly upset Ponca in Sub-Districts last year so I'm willing to bet Bago would welcome a matchup with Ponca.

Winnebago has to worry about beating Wakefield-Allen first though.

The Indians have to shake off the loss to the Bluejays, and regather and rebound.

Winnebago has had a lot of time to forget about the defeat to GACC.

The Indians have to come out and show that they've put that loss behind them.

Winnebago has to get back to playing the type of basketball they were prior to the loss to the Bluejays.

If the Indians do that I feel they have a chance to make some real noise in this tournament.

Winnebago is a much improved team, and I look for them to play well both Monday and Tuesday.

It's too bad the tournament was pushed back a couple of days due to the weather, but there's nothing anyone can do about mother nature.

The Indians just have to adapt and adjust to the schedule change just like everyone else does and has.

I look for Winnebago to play two good games next week.

The Indians need to continue to get multiple scoring contributions from multiple players.

Winnebago was at their best against Adams Central and Oakland-Craig.

The Indians have to rediscover that next week.

Tip-off is slated for 10:00 a.m. in Wisner.

Wisner-Pilger Boys 1-2 in last three games; Girls 0-3 in last three

The Wisner-Pilger Boys won 78-33 at Tekamah-Herman on Friday, December 13th before losing 55-44 at home to Oakland-Craig last Thursday night, and 63-46 at Wayne last Friday night.

The game with the Knights was tied at 14 after one. Oakland-Craig won the 2nd quarter 11-9 to go up 25-23 at halftime.

The Knights won the 3rd quarter 10-8 to lead 35-31 at the end of three.

Oakland-Craig outscored Wisner-Pilger 20-13 in the 4th quarter.

The Blue Devils led 20-9 at the end of one, and won the 2nd quarter 14-9 to take a 34-18 lead into the locker room.

Wayne outscored the Gators 17-11 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 51-29 at the end of three.

Wisner-Pilger won the 4th quarter 17-12.

Tough last couple of games for the Gators.

Wisner-Pilger (3-2) takes on Pierce (4-1) in the first round of the Shootout on the Elkhorn Holiday Tournament in Wisner on Monday.

The tournament was supposed to start on Saturday, but things were pushed back to Monday due to the impending weather.

So the Gators will have to wait another couple of days before getting back on the court.

I think Wisner-Pilger is probably pretty anxious to get back out there after losing their last two ball games.

I feel the Gators are a better team than their last two games would indicate.

Wisner-Pilger has to come out and play extremely well against the Bluejays.

Pierce is a very good team as always as they knocked off Columbus Scotus 49-27 at home last Friday night.

The Bluejays haven't really beaten anyone good so far though so I think the Gators have a good chance to win this one.

Wisner-Pilger has to come out and be ferocious and play hard.

The Gators have to come out and play like there's no tomorrow.

Wisner-Pilger has to push the ball and try and play with the lead as much as possible against Pierce.

The Gators also need to play well on the defensive end of the floor as well.

But I think getting back to where they need to be offensively is going to be big for Wisner-Pilger.

The Gators have struggled to put the ball in the basket the last two games, and hopefully they're getting some shooting in with this long layoff.

You know what you're going to get from the Bluejays, and that is a great effort and hard nosed, physicality.

Pierce always plays hard and is always ready to play so you have to be ready to go against them as well.

Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at Wisner-Pilger.

The Wisner-Pilger Girls lost 35-33 at Tekamah-Herman on Friday, December 13th before falling 54-18 at home to Oakland-Craig last Thursday night, and 54-26 at Wayne last Friday night.

The Gators led Tekamah-Herman 6-4 at the end of one. The Tigers won the 2nd quarter 8-6 to tie the game at 12 at halftime.

Tekamah-Herman outscored Wisner-Pilger 9-6 in the 3rd quarter to go up 21-18 at the end of three.

The Gators won the 4th quarter 15-14, a quarter highlighted by a late shot by Maggie Sheets.

The Knights quadrupled up the Gators 16-4 in the 1st quarter. Oakland-Craig outscored Wisner-Pilger 21-1 in the 2nd quarter to take a 37-5 lead into the locker room.

The Knights won the 3rd quarter 12-7 to go up 49-12 at the end of three.

The Gators won the 4th quarter 6-5.

The Blue Devils got out to a 19-5 lead after one before doubling up Wisner-Pilger 16-8 in the 2nd quarter to take a 35-13 lead into the locker room.

Wayne outscored the Gators 14-5 in the 3rd quarter to go up 49-18 at the end of three.

Wisner-Pilger won the 4th quarter 8-5.

It has been tough sledding for the Gators so far.

Wisner-Pilger (0-5) takes on Lutheran High Northeast (2-4) in the first round of the Shootout on the Elkhorn on Monday.

The Eagles lost 53-52 at home to Homer last Friday night.

LHNE won 43-28 at Wisner-Pilger on December 5th.

I think the Gators can definitely compete and keep things close with the Eagles, and ultimately win.

I feel the window of opportunity in this game is huge for Wisner-Pilger.

I think the Gators have a chance to do very well in this one and get their season headed in the right direction.

The season hasn't gone how Wisner-Pilger wanted so far, but there's a long ways to go.

Putting the ball in the basket and scoring has to be the focal point for the Gators right now though.

Wisner-Pilger has really struggled offensively.

I feel like the team's defense has been fairly respectable, but the Gators have to put the ball in the hole more to win games.

I think shooting has to be the focus in practices right now, and working on free throws and knocking down shots and things of that sort.

I think the biggest thing for Wisner-Pilger right now though is developing and gaining confidence.

The Gators have to create their own energy and spark to get things headed in the right direction.

The only people who can change the outlook of the season for Wisner-Pilger is Wisner-Pilger themselves.

Nobody is going to change the Gators' fortunes but themselves.

I don't know if it means working harder in practice or staying after and coming in before to shoot, but regardless the team has to do whatever they can to be successful.

Wisner-Pilger has to have that drive and determination and passion to be great and amazing.

The Gators have to be better than this, and I know they can and will be.

Tip-off is set for noon at Wisner-Pilger.

BRLD Boys 3-0 in last four games; Girls 4-0 in last four

The BRLD Boys won 89-52 at Walthill on Thursday, December 12th before dominating Clarkson/Leigh 66-19 at home on Friday, December 13th. The Wolverines also won 73-63 at home over Howells-Dodge last Friday night.

The Wolverines led the Blujays 30-11 after one, and doubled up Walthill 16-8 in the 2nd quarter to take a 46-19 lead into the locker room.

BRLD outscored the Blujays 25-14 in the 3rd quarter to go up 71-33 at the end of three.

Walthill won the 4th quarter 19-18.

Dylan Beutler had 23 points and 10 rebounds, good enough for a double-double. Jaxon Johnson added 12 points while Will Gatzemeyer had 11. Brayden Anderson and Micah Henschen totaled 8 apiece.

The Wolverines led Clarkson/Leigh 14-8 at the end of one before outscoring the Patriots 18-2 in the 2nd quarter to take a 32-10 lead into the locker room.

BRLD blanked Clarkson/Leigh 27-0 in the 3rd quarter to go up 59-10 at the end of three.

The Patriots won the 4th quarter 9-7.

The Wolverines outscored the Jaguars 23-7 in the 1st quarter. BRLD won the 2nd quarter 19-17 to take a 42-24 lead into the locker room.

Howells-Dodge won the 3rd quarter 16-11 to make it a 53-40 game at the end of three.

The Jaguars won the 4th quarter 23-20.

Darwin Snyder led the way with 22 points while Beutler had 16 points and 9 rebounds. Gatzemeyer chipped in 11 points while Johnson notched 10 points and 8 rebounds.

BRLD has been as good as advertised so far this year.

The Wolverines (5-0) battle Homer (2-4) in the first round of the Holiday Tournament on Saturday.

The Knights lost 63-31 at Lutheran High Northeast last Friday night.

The Wolverines beat Homer 65-28 on the road on December 7th.

BRLD should roll and dominate in this one.

I don't see the Wolverines getting challenged in this one.

I think BRLD will win pretty big and easily, and going away.

I think this Holiday Tournament is the Wolverines' to lose.

BRLD should walk away with the Holiday Tournament Championship.

This team is so deep and talented, and I'm not sure if anyone or anything can stop them this year.

The Wolverines have to play their game, and do what they've done all season.

BRLD has to get out and run, and dominate from start to finish.

The Wolverines have to treat Homer with respect as well.

BRLD can't come into this game thinking they already have it won before the game starts because that's when you get into trouble.

The Wolverines have to be focused and ready to go and play on Saturday.

I fully expect BRLD to play for Monday's Championship.

Whether that's against Howells-Dodge or GACC, I don't know, but I do think the Wolverines will win it regardless of who is on the other side.

BRLD is simply unstoppable and one could argue unbeatable as well.

The Wolverines are a great team and perhaps a dynasty in the making, and this team is simply incredible and amazing.

There's a long ways to go and a lot of ball to be played yet this year though so BRLD has to keep their eye on the prize and focus on one game at a time.

Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. in Homer.

The BRLD Girls routed Walthill 84-18 on the road on Thursday, December 12th before winning 37-29 at home over Clarkson/Leigh on Friday, December 13th. The Wolverines then won 60-28 at home over Howells-Dodge last Friday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull, and won 75-18 at home over Boys Town on Saturday.

The Patriots led the Wolverines 11-10 after one. BRLD doubled up Clarkson/Leigh 8-4 in the 2nd quarter to take an 18-15 lead into the locker room.

The Wolverines outscored Clarkson/Leigh 10-3 in the 3rd quarter to go up 28-18 at the end of three.

The Patriots won the 4th quarter 11-9.

BRLD outscored Howells-Dodge 26-7 in the 1st quarter. The Wolverines won the 2nd quarter 10-7 to take a 36-14 lead into the locker room.

The Wolverines outscored the Jaguars 16-11 in the 3rd quarter to go up 52-25 at the end of three.

BRLD won the 4th quarter 8-3.

Kailynn Lovejoy had 10 points while Isabel Freemont and Alyssa Buchholz had 9 apiece.

The Wolverines are having a great season so far.

BRLD (7-0) battles Homer (2-4) in the first round of the Homer Holiday Tournament on Saturday.

The Knights lost 53-52 at Lutheran High Northeast last Friday night.

BRLD beat Homer 61-40 on the road on December 7th.

I look for the Wolverines to knock off the Knights again and make it to the championship game.

BRLD/GACC would be a heck of a matchup in the championship game if it were to happen.

The matchup can definitely happen too, but the Wolverines have to take care of business against Homer first, and the Bluejays have to beat Howells-Dodge.

I really think BRLD has made a commitment on the defensive end of the floor, and it is really showing.

The Wolverines can now play defense to go with their amazing offense.

Defense wins championships, and BRLD is a championship caliber team.

It would be huge for the Wolverines to win this Holiday Tournament, and they can definitely do it too.

BRLD will likely have to knock off the mighty Bluejays to get the job done, but it can definitely happen.

The Wolverines have to pressure and suffocate Homer with their press, and create turnovers and get out in transition.

BRLD has to make life difficult on the Knights, and make them uncomfortable offensively.

I think the Wolverines are getting better with every game, and BRLD has been consistently good all season long.

The Wolverines have beaten the good teams on their schedule, and blown out the teams they're supposed to beat.

That's a sign of a championship ball club.

The journey to a Homer Holiday Tournament Championship begins on Saturday with game time scheduled for 4:00 p.m. in Homer.

Howells-Dodge Boys 2-3 in last five games; Girls 0-5

The Howells-Dodge Boys lost 67-45 at home to Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family on Thursday, December 12th before falling 77-63 at Oakland-Craig on Saturday, December 14th. The Jaguars beat West Point-Beemer 54-41 at home last Tuesday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull before falling 73-63 at BRLD Friday night in action also aired on the Bull, and then winning 77-61 at home over Clarkson/Leigh on Saturday.

The Bulldogs went up 16-7 after one, and won the 2nd quarter 16-11 to take a 32-18 lead into the locker room.

Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family outscored the Jaguars 24-15 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 56-33 at the end of three.

Howells-Dodge won the 4th quarter 12-11.

The Knights jumped on the Jaguars 30-9 at the end of one. Howells-Dodge won the 2nd quarter 18-13 to make it a 43-27 game at halftime.

The Jaguars outscored Oakland-Craig 21-12 in the 3rd quarter to cut the deficit to 55-48 at the end of three.

The Knights outscored Howells-Dodge 22-15 in the 4th quarter.

The Jaguars led the Cadets 13-11 after one, and outscored West Point-Beemer 17-6 in the 2nd quarter to take a 30-17 lead into the locker room.

The Cadets won the 3rd quarter 14-10 to make it a 40-31 game at the end of three.

Howells-Dodge won the 4th quarter 14-10.

Charlie Dvorak had 13 points for the Jaguars Darrin Pokorny had 9 while Luke Rocheford totaled 8.

Howells-Dodge won the 3rd quarter 16-11 to make it a 53-40 game at the end of three.

The Jaguars won the 4th quarter 23-20.

RJ Bayer and Jacob Tomcak each had 15 points while Rocheford scored 10. Dvorak added 9 while Pokorny scored 7.

The Jaguars went up 15-12 at the end of one before winning the 2nd quarter 17-12 to take a 32-24 lead into the locker room.

Howells-Dodge outscored Clarkson/Leigh 28-16 in the 3rd quarter to go up 60-40 at the end of three.

The Patriots won the 4th quarter 21-17.

Pretty to fairly respectable play for the Jaguars over their last five games.

Howells-Dodge (5-3) takes on GACC (3-2) in the opening round of the Homer Holiday Tournament on Saturday.

The Bluejays upended Crofton 55-45 at home on Saturday, December 14th.

GACC has been off for quite a while so it's hard to know what to expect from them.

You really don't know what you're going to get from the Bluejays in this one.

I fully expect the Jaguars to have their hands full in this one.

I think Howells-Dodge has to be better defensively than they have been lately.

I feel like the Jaguars have struggled on defense in their losses and even in the Clarkson/Leigh game.

The defense was really stout to start, but over the last few games has kind of taken a few steps back.

I think the key to beating GACC is playing good defense.

Howells-Dodge has to get back to their roots of playing great defense.

The Jaguars can definitely do that too, and I think Howells-Dodge has a great chance to play really good defense against the Bluejays.

I think the Jaguars have a great chance of winning this game and getting to the championship.

GACC comes in with a lot of confidence though.

At the same time, you have to wonder how the Bluejays will do being they've been off for over two weeks.

The Jaguars have played more games so far so I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing for Howells-Dodge.

I fully expect the Jaguars to be well rested and ready to go on Saturday.

It should be a heck of a game that comes down to the wire.

It wouldn't surprise me if the game was decided in the final minutes or seconds.

Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. in Homer.

The Howells-Dodge Girls lost 60-56 at home in overtime to Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family on Thursday, December 12th before falling 59-34 at Oakland-Craig on Saturday, December 14th, 40-34 at home to West Point-Beemer on Tuesday, January 17th in action aired on 107.9 the Bull, 60-28 at BRLD last Friday night in action also aired on the Bull, and 53-36 at home to Clarkson/Leigh on Saturday.

The Jaguars and Bulldogs were tied at 11 at the end of one. H/LHF won the 2nd quarter 12-11 to take a 23-22 lead into the locker room.

The Bulldogs won the 3rd quarter 18-13 to go up 41-35 at the end of three.

Howells-Dodge outscored Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family 15-9 in the 4th quarter to tie the game at 50 and send it into OT.

The Bulldogs outlasted the Jaguars 10-6 in the extra session.

Brooklyn Macholan had 20 points and 14 rebounds, good enough for a double-double. Riley Pokorny added 14 points.

Oakland-Craig led the Jaguars 16-9 at the end of one. The Knights outscored Howells-Dodge 18-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 34-16 lead into the locker room.

The Jaguars won the 3rd quarter 16-11 to make it a 32-28 game at the end of three.

The Cadets won the 4th quarter 8-6.

Cassie Pieper led the Jaguars with 10 points. Schmidt and Jaedyn Ratzlaff each had 7.

Pokorny led the way with 14 points.

Clarkson/Leigh went up 15-11 after one on the Jaguars. Howells-Dodge won the 2nd quarter 15-10 to pull in front 26-25 at halftime.

The Patriots dominated the 2nd half, quadrupling up the Jaguars 12-3 in the 3rd quarter to go up 37-29 at the end of three.

Clarkson/Leigh outscored Howells-Dodge 16-7 in the 4th quarter.

Pieper had a team-high 9 points while Ratzlaff totaled 7.

The Jaguars played well in a couple of the losses, but really struggled in a few of them.

Howells-Dodge (1-7) battles GACC (6-1) in the first round of the Homer Holiday Tournament on Saturday.

The Bluejays won 50-44 at home over Norfolk Catholic on Saturday.

This is one of those games that looks like somewhat of a mismatch on paper.

That simply means the Jaguars have to come out and play inspired.

Howells-Dodge has played well at times this year, they just haven't been consistent.

The Jaguars have been in most of their games, but scoring has been an issue in most games.

Howells-Dodge has to go back to what they did offensively against the Bulldogs and do that on Saturday.

There are things and games to build off of if you are the Jaguars.

Howells-Dodge has to come out and handle GACC's press and play their hearts out.

I'm sure not many people are giving the Jaguars a chance in this one so Howells-Dodge has to go out there and prove everyone wrong.

The Jaguars have talent, they are just young.

Hopefully the close losses in the first half of the season turn into wins in the second half of the year.

Howells-Dodge has to get off to a fast start on Saturday, and put the pressure on the Bluejays.

The Jaguars have to try and play with the lead as much as possible.

Hopefully Howells-Dodge did a lot of shooting today and during the moratorium period.

The Jaguars simply need to find offensive consistency and an identity.

Howells-Dodge has to put more shots down the well and identify some offensive leaders.

Pokorny has stepped up and Macholan did one game as did Perrin, but these girls have to score double digits consistently and together on a nightly basis.

The Jaguars have to treat this game with GACC as a chance to upset a top power and pull off a shocker.

Game time is set for noon in Homer.

GACC Boys top Crofton; Girls 3-0 in last three games

The GACC Boys Basketball Team won 55-45 at home over Crofton on Saturday, December 14th.

The Bluejays led 15-7 after one. The Warriors outscored GACC 17-8 in the 2nd quarter to take a 24-23 lead into the locker room.

The Bluejays doubled up Crofton 20-10 in the 3rd quarter to regain the lead at 43-34 at the end of three.

GACC won the 4th quarter 12-11.

Cody Steffen had 15 points and 8 rebounds while Ben Ulrich notched 12 points. Casey Doernemann chipped in 10 points and 9 rebounds while Nate Niewohner totaled 7 points. Adam Reeson posted 7 rebounds.

Solid win and solid finish to the pre-Christmas Holiday Schedule for the Bluejays.

GACC (3-2) takes on Howells-Dodge (5-3) in the first round of the Homer Holiday Tournament on Saturday.

The Jaguars downed Clarkson/Leigh 77-61 at home on Saturday.

This should be a really good game that I feel can go either way.

You have to worry about a bit of a slow start for the Bluejays given how long they have been off.

GACC should be fine though as they had a lot of time to practice before the moratorium and had today to get in the gym as well.

I don't think there's any doubt that the Bluejays can win this one.

It should be a heck of a game and battle, and could come down to the wire and be decided in the final minutes.

The winner will likely get BRLD for the Championship, and playing and upsetting the Wolverines is a very tall task as well.

GACC has to worry about Howells-Dodge right now though.

A win over the Jaguars would be big, and the Bluejays can definitely do it.

GACC is an improved team from the last couple of years, in my opinion, and should have a lot of confidence coming into this one.

The Bluejays are already doing better than they have the past couple of years.

GACC is accustomed to playing for championships, and that's exactly what the Bluejays have to strive for in this tournament.

GACC has to expect to play for the championship against BRLD or Homer, and has to expect to compete in that game if not win it as well.

The Bluejays have a lot of pride and storied tradition, and I look for that to be on full display on Saturday.

GACC has a big opportunity in front of them, and has to make the most of it.

Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. in Homer.

The GACC Girls won 52-42 at home over Crofton on Saturday, December 14th before downing Winnebago 68-40 at home last Thursday night, and Norfolk Catholic 50-44 at home on Saturday.

Sophia Hass had a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds while Kate Gnad registered 11 points and Brenna Rief added 10.

Rief led the way with 16 points while Hass posted another double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds. Livia Hunke recorded 14 points while Gnad had 10. Brandi Doernemann chipped in 8 points while Erica Engelmeyer pulled down 7 boards.

The Bluejays went up 20-8 at the end of one on the Knights. Norfolk Catholic won the 2nd quarter 12-11 to make it a 31-20 game at halftime in favor of GACC.

The Knights won the 3rd quarter 10-8 to cut the deficit to 9 at 39-30 at the end of three.

Norfolk Catholic outscored the Bluejays 14-11 in the 4th quarter.

Hass had 20 points and 8 rebounds while Doernemann and Marissa Hunke each had 10 points. Rief added 9.

Great wins for GACC, especially the win over Crofton.

The Bluejays (6-1) take on Howells-Dodge (1-7) in the first round of the Homer Holiday Tournament on Saturday.

The Jaguars lost 53-36 at home to Clarkson/Leigh on Saturday.

GACC should be able to roll to a big win in this one I would think.

Howells-Dodge is young, and has struggled so far.

It's looking like the championship could very well be the Bluejays against BRLD.

GACC has to come out and dominate and play suffocating, championship defense.

The Bluejays also have to get out in transition and run, run, run.

I was really impressed with GACC's offense against Winnebago.

I feel the Bluejays will play an exceptional game on Saturday, and win.

The championship game on Monday would be a heck of a game if it's BRLD against GACC.

It would be a preview of what could come in Sub-Districts.

The Bluejays have to worry about beating the Jaguars first though as do the Wolverines with Homer.

Still though one can't help but get excited about the potential matchup with BRLD in the Championship.

A lot of really good basketball figures to be played in this tournament the next couple of days, and a good chunk of it by both GACC teams.

The Bluejays have to play with a lot of confidence and energy, and be excited about the opportunity that lies in front of them.

GACC has to take advantage of the opportunity in front of them, and get to Monday's Title game.

The Bluejays not only have to beat Howells-Dodge, they need to do it convincingly.

I feel whoever plays better on Saturday between GACC and BRLD, if one plays better than the other, will have more momentum on their side heading into Monday's Championship game should both win.

Saturday's contest is set to tip-off at noon in Homer.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys 3-1 in last four games; Girls 1-3

The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys Basketball Team is 3-1 in their last four games, winning 41-38 at home over Wayne on Tuesday, December 10th before falling 48-40 at Wahoo on Saturday, December 14th. LVSS outscored the Vikings 17-10 in the 4th quarter.

The Raiders led Tekamah-Herman 11-10 after one, and outscored the Tigers 18-8 in the 2nd quarter to take a 29-18 lead into the locker room.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder outscored Tekamah-Herman 22-7 in the 3rd quarter to go up 51-25 at the end of three.

Both teams scored 18 points in the 4th quarter.

Kriete led three Raiders in double figures with 16 points and also had 7 rebounds. Larson and Hoetfelker each added 15 points.

Some pretty solid play from LVSS one would have to say.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder (5-1) battles Omaha Brownell Talbot (4-3) in the first round of the Logan View Holiday Tournament on Saturday.

Brownell Talbot defeated Louisville 55-39 at home on Saturday.

Brownell Talbot isn't too bad of a team.

They have arguably had a respectable season so far to this point.

LVSS is pretty salty and tough themselves though.

I look for Logan View/Scribner-Snyder to come out and play well.

LVSS has to be in attack mode all game long, and must be smart and aggressive.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has to battle hard and play their best throughout the entire game.

I feel LVSS has a great chance to win this Holiday Tournament.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder isn't the most flashy team out there, but they are very tough, hard nosed, and physical.

You know you're going to get a great effort from LVSS each and every time they take the floor, that's for sure.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder knows how to win and has proven and shown that all season long.

A Holiday Tournament championship would be a big deal for this program and these kids.

The Raiders had today to practice and get their legs under them so that should help them heading into Saturday's game.

LVSS has to come out fresh and inspired and ready to go on Saturday.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has to play with the passion and toughness necessary to beat Brownell Talbot.

Brownell Talbot might be the second toughest team in this tournament, just behind LVSS.

We will find out who is tougher and mightier on Saturday.

Tip-off is set for 11:30 a.m. at Logan View.

The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Girls fell 78-30 at home to Wayne on Tuesday, December 10th before winning 57-24 at Cedar Bluffs on Thursday, December 12th. The Raiders also lost 53-38 at Columbus Lakeview last Tuesday night and 53-30 at Tekamah-Herman last Thursday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.

The Blue Devils led 20-12 after one, and outscored LVSS 22-4 in the 2nd quarter to take a 42-16 lead into the locker room.

Wayne outscored the Raiders 26-10 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 68-26 at the end of three.

The Blue Devils won the 4th quarter 10-4.

Valerie Uehling paced LVSS with 8 points.

Josie Kahlandt had 24 points and 7 rebounds against the Wildcats while Uehling added 15 points.

The Viqueens led 16-9 after one, and outscored the Raiders 11-5 in the 2nd quarter to take a 27-14 lead into the locker room.

Lakeview won the 2nd quarter 12-10 to go up 39-24 at the end of three.

Both teams scored 14 points in the 4th quarter.

Uehling had 13 points while Cailey Stout posted 7.

The Tigers and Raiders were tied at 11 at the end of one Tekamah-Herman outscored LVSS 11-4 in the 2nd quarter to take a 22-15 lead into the locker room.

The Tigers outscored the Raiders 16-6 in the 3rd quarter to go up 38-21 at the end of three.

Tekamah-Herman won the 4th quarter 15-9.

Maelee Beacom had nine points for the Raiders. Kahlandt added 7 rebounds.

Good win over Cedar Bluffs.

LVSS (2-4) takes on Omaha Brownell Talbot (3-3) at the Logan View Holiday Tournament Saturday morning.

Brownell Talbot lost 54-39 at Mead last Friday night.

Great opportunity in front of Logan View/Scribner-Snyder.

LVSS can definitely win this Holiday Tournament, the opportunity exists.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder just has to go out there and play lights out from start to finish.

LVSS has to take the fight to Brownell Talbot and be confident in doing so.

The other side features winless Fort Calhoun and 3-4 Elmwood-Murdock.

All four of these teams are pretty equal, but being at home should help Logan View/Scribner-Snyder.

I feel like LVSS has done some nice things this year, but to get to 4-4 would be a huge deal.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has a lot of basketball in front of them, and to be .500 heading into 2020 would be good for this ball club.

LVSS has gone through their fair share of struggles so far this year, but they have done some nice things as well.

Practicing today should have really helped Logan View/Scribner-Snyder.

LVSS has to come out fresh and sharp and ready to go come Saturday morning.

It's an early game, and I always think early start times favor the home team.

Brownell Talbot has a bus ride whereas Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has a little drive in the car from home.

I think that will make a difference for LVSS.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has to make the most of this opportunity, and come out and play well on Saturday and Monday.

It would be something if both the LVSS Boys and Girls could sweep Holiday Tournament Championships, and it could definitely happen.

Tip-off is set for 10:00 a.m. at Logan View High School.

Stanton Boys 1-3 in last four games; Girls 0-4

The Stanton Boys lost 63-33 at Battle Creek on Friday, December 13th before falling 56-29 at North Bend Central last Tuesday night. The Mustangs then lost 60-38 at home to Wakefield Friday night before falling 27-24 at Pender on Saturday.

The Braves went up 16-11 after one and won the 2nd quarter 18-14 to take a 34-25 lead into the locker room.

Battle Creek tripled up Stanton 18-6 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 52-31 at the end of three.

The Braves outscored the Mustangs 11-2 in the 4th quarter.

TJ Larson had 14 points while Parker Krusemark notched 7. Mason Bruggeman added 7 rebounds.

North Bend Central shutout the Mustangs 16-0 in the 1st quarter. The Tigers won the 2nd quarter 10-9 to take a 26-9 lead into the locker room.

North Bend Central outscored Stanton 21-14 in the 3rd quarter to go up 47-23 at the end of three.

The Tigers won the 4th quarter 9-6.

Brennan Wragge had a team-high 7 points while Bruggeman totaled 8 rebounds.

The Trojans led the Mustangs 12-9 at the end of one and 24-18 at halftime.

Wakefield outscored Stanton 19-12 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 43-30 at the end of three.

The Trojans outscored the Mustangs 17-8 in the 4th quarter.

Bruggeman had 13 points while Larson notched 10. Krusemark added 8 rebounds.

The Pendragons went up 10-6 on Stanton after one, and won the 2nd quarter 5-4 to take a 15-10 lead into the locker room.

The Mustangs doubled up Pender 8-4 in the 3rd quarter to make it a 19-18 game at the end of three.

The Pendragons won the 4th quarter 8-6.

Larson finished with 8 points and 10 rebounds while Bruggeman had 8 points and 8 rebounds.

Tough way to end the Pre-Christmas Holiday Schedule if you are Stanton.

The Mustangs (1-6) host West Holt (4-2) in the Stanton Holiday Tournament Friday night.

The Huskies lost 59-39 at Battle Creek on Saturday.

I think Stanton can definitely hang in there and compete and give West Holt a game.

It's not going to be easy for the Mustangs to win, but anything can happen.

You hope Stanton got after things on their own during the five-day moratorium period.

The Mustangs need someone else other than Larson and Bruggeman to contribute.

Those two have been excellent scorers and rebounders for Stanton, but they need help.

The duo can't do everything on their own.

The Mustangs need some other kids to step up and score and get after things on the glass.

I think scoring is the biggest issue for Stanton right now.

The Mustangs have to be better shooting the ball than they have been.

If anything, hopefully Stanton did some shooting during the moratorium period.

The Mustangs really need to find an offensive identity and rhythm.

The defense has played well at times this year, but that could be more consistent I feel.

The biggest thing hurting Stanton right now though, in my opinion, is a lack of offense.

The Mustangs haven't been the same since the loss to West Point-Beemer on Tuesday the 10th it appears, a game that they lost at the buzzer after leading by double digits entering the 4th quarter.

That was a tough loss, but Stanton has to forget about it and move on.

The Mustangs have had over two weeks to digest it so they should be ready to go come Friday night.

Should Stanton play O'Neill in Saturday's consolation game, I feel the Mustangs would have a good chance to win that game should they not beat West Holt on Friday.

The West Holt game is scheduled to tip-off at 7:15 p.m. in Stanton.

The Stanton Girls continue to struggle, losing 59-25 at Battle Creek on Friday, December 13th before falling 50-16 at North Bend Central last Tuesday night, 56-55 at home in OT to Wakefield-Allen Friday night, and 46-14 at Pender on Saturday.

The Bravettes led 18-4 after one, and won the 2nd quarter 15-9 to take a 33-13 lead into the locker room.

Battle Creek doubled up Stanton 10-5 in the 3rd quarter to go up 43-18 at the end of three.

The Bravettes outscored the Mustangs 16-7 in the 4th quarter.

Emma Hansen and Sylvia Cunningham each had 9 points for Stanton.

The Tigers tripled up the Mustangs 12-4 in the 1st quarter. North Bend Central outscored Stanton 15-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 27-11 lead into the locker room.

The Tigers outscored the Mustangs 15-3 in the 3rd quarter to go up 42-14 at the end of three.

North Bend Central won the 4th quarter 8-2.

Cunningham paced Stanton with 7 points and 8 rebounds.

The Mustangs led the Trojans 16-11 after one. Wakefield-Allen won the 2nd quarter 13-12 to make it a 28-24 game at halftime.

Stanton won the 3rd quarter 10-7 to go up 38-31 at the end of three.

The Trojans outscored the Mustangs 20-13 in the 4th quarter to send the game into overtime tied at 51.

Wakefield-Allen outlasted Stanton 5-4 in the extra session.

Tough sledding for Stanton so far this year.

The Mustangs (0-7) take on West Holt (3-3) in the first round of the Stanton Holiday Tournament Friday evening.

The Huskies lost 53-31 at Battle Creek on Saturday.

This will be another difficult game for Stanton.

If the Mustangs play the way they did against the Trojans though I think they could win.

I don't think Stanton played their best basketball against North Bend Central and Pender.

And I feel like even if the Mustangs don't beat West Holt on Friday that they will beat Hartington-Newcastle in the consolation game should the two teams meet in it.

O'Neill definitely has to be considered the favorite to win this Holiday Tournament.

The Huskies aren't too bad either so we will see what happens.

Hopefully Stanton did some shooting and stuff on their own during the moratorium period.

It has been a really tough season for the Mustangs so far, but Stanton has to keep their head up and keep fighting.

There's a long ways to go, and the Mustangs definitely have time to get things turned around.

There's quite a few games coming up that should be wins so perhaps Stanton can make a little run the second half of the season.

Just winning a game in this Holiday Tournament would be a positive step in the right direction.

The loss to Wakefield-Allen had to be really tough and disheartening.

I'm sure the Mustangs thought they were going to win that one.

All Stanton can do though is move on.

The Mustangs have had almost a week to recover so hopefully Stanton is able to bounce back in a positive way Friday night.

I think the Mustangs can, but a lot of it is going to be mental, especially if the game is close.

The game against West Holt is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m.

North Bend Central Boys 2-0 in last two games; Girls 3-0

The North Bend Central Boys won 61-25 at West Point-Beemer on Thursday, December 12th in action aired on 107.9 the Bull before defeating Stanton 56-29 at home last Tuesday night.

The Tigers led West Point-Beemer 18-5 after one, and won the 2nd quarter 13-12 to go up 31-17 at halftime.

North Bend Central outscored the Cadets 13-3 in the 3rd quarter to lead 44-20 at the end of three.

The Tigers outscored West Point-Beemer 17-5 in the 4th quarter.

Austin Endorf posted 13 points while Cody Prohaska had 9, Breckin Peters and Cody Pospisil 8, and Jaxon Wietfeld 7.

Two dominant wins for the Tigers to close out the Pre-Christmas Schedule.

North Bend Central (5-0) battles Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family (6-0) in the first round of the North Bend Holiday Tournament Friday night.

The Bulldogs won 80-43 at home over Nebraska Christian Friday night.

This figures to be a heck of a game and battle, that's for sure.

NBC definitely has their work cut out for them in this one.

This is a really tough Holiday Tournament stacked with good teams so if the Tigers win it that would really be saying something.

North Bend Central can definitely do it too.

You just have to wonder how the Tigers will come out following the five-day moratorium.

It will be interesting to see what happens Friday night.

I expect there to be a big ruckus crowd that cheers loud and hard.

North Bend Central has to feed off the energy of the crowd and really get after things.

Hopefully the Tigers stayed sharp and in game shape over the Holiday break because this game could simply come down to who is better conditioned.

I'm sure North Bend Central will get into the gym on Friday before the tournament starts as they have quite a bit of time to shoot and do a walkthrough and stuff.

The Tigers have to jog and exercise and get themselves back into a playing groove so to speak.

North Bend Central has to wake up energized and excited and ready to go on Friday.

It should be a heck of a game, and I'm very excited to see how it all turns out.

I feel the contest could go either way, I truly do.

I think the Tigers have a great chance of prevailing being the bigger school, but Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Fanily is as good as advertised.

The game is scheduled to tip-off at 8:00 p.m. at Tiger Arena.

It should be an exciting day of basketball in North Bend and an exciting tournament as a whole.

The North Bend Central Girls won 53-43 at West Point-Beemer on Thursday, December 12th in action aired on 107.9 the Bull before winning 50-16 at home over Stanton last Tuesday night, and 59-47 at home over Pender Friday night.

The Tigers led West Point-Beemer 14-10 after one, and won the 2nd quarter 15-10 to take a 29-20 lead into the locker room.

The Cadets won the 3rd quarter 15-12 to make it a 41-35 game at the end of three.

North Bend Central won the 4th quarter 12-8.

Sydney Emanuel had 16 points while Hannah Williams totaled 12, and Lauren Emanuel posted 9.

The Tigers led Pender 16-13 at the end of one before the Pendragons won the 2nd quarter 14-11 to tie the game at 27 at halftime.

North Bend Central won the 3rd quarter 15-9 to go up 42-36 at the end of three.

The Tigers won the 4th quarter 17-11.

Solid stretch of games for North Bend Central to end the Pre-Christmas Holiday Schedule.

The Tigers (6-0) battle Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family (7-0) in the 1st round of the North Bend Holiday Tournament Friday evening.

The Bulldogs beat Pender 67-40 at home last Tuesday night.

This is going to be an extremely difficult game for North Bend Central I feel.

The Tigers are going to have to play really well to win.

North Bend Central played well enough to beat West Point-Beemer and Pender, but the Tigers have to play the way they did against Seward if they want to beat Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family.

North Bend Central is going to have to really step up and bring their "A" game to win this one.

The Tigers can definitely do it too as they have before.

This figures to be a tight and hotly contested game that goes down to the wire.

I feel North Bend Central has what it takes to win this game and win the tournament itself.

St. Paul is a very good team too though, and could be a very tough championship game opponent should both teams make it to that.

You have to wonder how the Tigers will come out after having five days off with the moratorium.

Hopefully North Bend Central did some shooting and running on their own during the Holiday Break.

I think it's important for the Tigers to come out sharp and hot Friday evening.

North Bend Central has to shoot the lights out of the ball and make it a situation where the Bulldogs don't even know what hit them.

The Tigers need to play extremely hard from start to finish, and take the fight to Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family for four quarters.

North Bend Central has to come out and be smart, but aggressive as well and take chances, and make life difficult on the Bulldogs.

The Tigers expect to play for championships not consolation prizes I'm sure.

Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at Tiger Arena.

Oakland-Craig Boys and Girls 5-0 in last five games

The Oakland-Craig Boys are 5-0 in their last five games, knocking off Pender 62-24 at home on Friday, December 13th in action aired on 107.9 the Bull, Howells-Dodge 77-63 at home on Saturday, December 14th, Winnebago 86-66 at home last Tuesday night, Wisner-Pilger 55-44 on the road last Thursday night, and Madison 91-58 on the road Saturday.

The Knights quadrupled up the Pendragons 16-4 in the 1st quarter. Oakland-Craig won the 2nd quarter 18-13 to take a 34-17 lead into the locker room.

The Knights tripled up Pender 15-5 in the 3rd quarter to go up 49-22 at the end of three.

Oakland-Craig outscored the Pendragons 13-2 in the 4th quarter.

Colton Thomsen had 13 points while Caden Nelson notched 10. Coulter Thiele added 9 while Gunnar Ray and Blake Johnson had 8 apiece.

Ray led the way with 22 points while Thomsen posted 16. Seagren registered 13 points and 10 rebounds, good enough for a double-double, while Thiele totaled 10 points.

Thomsen had 31 points while Ray totaled 17 and Nelson 15. Seagren chipped in 10 rebounds.

The game with the Gators was tied at 14 after one. The Knights won the 2nd quarter 11-9 to go up 25-23 at halftime.

Oakland-Craig won the 3rd quarter 10-8 to lead 35-31 at the end of three.

The Knights outscored Wisner-Pilger 20-13 in the 4th quarter.

Ray notched 22 points to lead the way while Thomsen scored 16. Nelson added 9 points while Seagren pulled down 8 rebounds.

Oakland-Craig got out to a 24-9 lead on the Dragons at the end of one. The Knights won the 2nd quarter 24-19 to take a 48-28 lead into the locker room.

Oakland-Craig won the 3rd quarter 21-17 to go up 69-45 at the end of three.

The Knights outscored Madison 22-13 in the 4th quarter.

Thomsen and Nelson each had 16 points while Johnson and Trey Deemer each totaled 14 apiece. Ray added a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds while Seagren notched 7 points and 10 rebounds.

Very impressive run for Oakland-Craig.

The Knights (6-2) take on Wilber-Clatonia (6-0) in the first round of the Malcolm Holiday Tournament on Friday.

The Wolverines beat Sandy Creek 42-29 at home on Saturday.

Wilber-Clatonia is undefeated, but I feel their record is deceiving.

Yes the Wolverines are unbeaten, but only one of their wins is against a team over .500.

I just think Oakland-Craig has played a tougher schedule and is more athletic and dynamic and explosive than Wilber-Clatonia.

It figures to be a good game, but I think the Knights have a good shot to win it.

Malcolm and Centennial are on the other side of the bracket, and both of those teams are very good as well.

I think Oakland-Craig stands a good chance to win this Holiday Tournament though.

If the Knights can push the scoring up into the 70's and 80's and even 90's like they have been then I don't see how they lose.

But if Oakland-Craig cools off offensively in this tournament then things could get interesting.

So I think the Knights' offense is the key in this tournament.

Hopefully Oakland-Craig put some work in during the five-day moratorium because that ends on Friday.

It's game day for the Knights on Friday, and I fully expect Oakland-Craig to go down there and play well.

It should be a good, fun, competitive tournament, and I think the Knights have a good chance to come home with some hardware.

Oakland-Craig is playing some great basketball right now, and is one of the hottest teams in the area if not the state.

I wouldn't want to play the Knights right now if I were any of these teams in this Holiday Tournament.

Oakland-Craig is getting multiple kids in double figures on a nightly basis, and that makes a huge difference.

Friday's game is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.

The Oakland-Craig Girls are also playing some great basketball right now as the Knights defeated Pender 54-26 at home on Friday, December 13th in action that was aired on 107.9 the Bull, Howells-Dodge 59-34 at home on Saturday, December 14th, Winnebago 64-59 at home last Tuesday night, Wisner-Pilger 54-18 on the road last Thursday night, and Madison 66-21 on the road Saturday.

The Knights held a 16-10 lead on the Pendragons at the end of one. Oakland-Craig outscored Pender 10-2 in the 2nd quarter to take a 26-12 lead into the locker room.

The Knights outscored the Pendragons 21-5 in the 3rd quarter to go up 47-17 at the end of three.

Pender won the 4th quarter 9-7.

Kennedy Benne had 18 points and 8 rebounds while Jeannina Blahak totaled 10 points and 7 rebounds. Sydney Guzinski added 8 points.

Oakland-Craig led the Jaguars 16-9 at the end of one. The Knights outscored Howells-Dodge 18-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 34-16 lead into the locker room.

Oakland-Craig outscored the Jaguars 17-5 in the 3rd quarter to go up 51-21 at the end of three.

Howells-Dodge won the 4th quarter 13-8.

Chaney Nelson led all scorers with 14 points while Benne chipped in 13. Blahak and Sadie Nelson each had 11 while Guzinski posted 7.

Benne poured in 29 points and 10 rebounds, good enough for a double-double. Chaney Nelson added 14 points while Pearson notched 10. Mya Guzinski added 7 rebounds.

Guzinski finished with 14 points while Chaney Nelson had 12 and Benne 11.

Oakland-Craig led the Dragons 25-4 after one and 51-8 at halftime.

Madison outscored the Knights 11-4 in the 3rd quarter to make it a 55-19 game at the end of three.

Oakland-Craig outscored the Dragons 11-2 in the 4th quarter.

Chaney Nelson had 17 points while Benne totaled 13 points and 8 rebounds. Guzinski chipped in 12 points while Blahak compiled 10. Pearson registered 10 rebounds.

The Knights simply continue to roll along.

Oakland-Craig (8-0) faces Wilber-Clatonia (3-3) in the first round of the Malcolm Holiday Tournament on Friday.

The Wolverines won 46-29 at home over Sandy Creek on Saturday.

All three of Wilber-Clatonia's losses are blowout losses to top teams.

The Knights are another top team the Wolverines are facing, and I look for Oakland-Craig to win big in this one.

The Knights will face either Centennial or the host Clippers on Day Two on Saturday.

Both of those teams are good so Oakland-Craig has their work cut out in their second game for sure.

I think the Knights have what it takes to win this tournament again.

Oakland-Craig won it last year, and I think the Knights have a legit shot to win it again this year.

Oakland-Craig has been like a wrecking crew in that they can't be stopped.

The Knights are a great team, and appear to be even better this year than they were last year.

Not much appears to be slowing down Oakland-Craig right now.

It has been an excellent year for Oakland-Craig Athletics, and I look for the success to continue this weekend.

The Knights need to continue to get the same type of effort offensively and on the boards like they have so far this year.

Oakland-Craig simply has to keep doing what they've been doing, and they will be just fine.

The Knights have to keep the eye on the prize, and have that same will, drive, determination, toughness, focus, and attention to detail that they've had all season.

Oakland-Craig is very talented, and they work extremely hard, which is why they are a great team and program.

I see the Knights being undefeated heading into the BRLD game on January 17th.

Friday's game is set to begin at 3:00 p.m.

Pender Boys 1-4 in last five games; Girls 2-3

The Pender Boys fell 36-31 at home to Lutheran High Northeast on Thursday, December 12th before falling 62-24 at Oakland-Craig on Friday, December 13th in action aired on 107.9 the Bull, and then losing 47-30 at Allen last Monday night, and 79-38 at Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family last Tuesday night before winning 27-24 at home over Stanton on Saturday.

LHNE led 10-8 after one. Both teams scored 6 points in the 2nd quarter, and the Eagles led 16-14 at halftime.

The Pendragons won the 3rd quarter 9-4 to go up 23-20 at the end of three.

Lutheran High Northeast doubled up Pender 16-8 in the 4th quarter.

Dylan Vogt paced Pender with 10 points.

The Pendragons led Allen 10-9 after one. The Eagles tripled up Pender 12-4 in the 2nd quarter to take a 21-14 lead into the locker room.

Allen outscored the Pendragons 15-6 in the 3rd quarter to go up 36-20 at the end of three.

The Bulldogs led 20-7 after one, and outscored Pender 21-3 in the 2nd quarter to take a 41-10 lead into the locker room.

Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family won the 3rd quarter 23-18 to go up 64-28 at the end of three.

The Bulldogs won the 4th quarter 15-10.

Good performances from the Pendragons against LHNE and Stanton.

Pender (2-5) battles Wayne (3-4) in the first round of the Great Northeast Nebraska Shootout at Wayne State on Friday.

The Blue Devils have won three in a row.

Wayne will be tough.

The Blue Devils have played an extremely difficult schedule and Wayne is a bigger school than Pender.

The win over Stanton should help, and the Pendragons have to play the same way they did against Lutheran High Northeast.

I look for Pender to make strides and compete well in this tournament.

The tournament is full of really good teams, and the Pendragons will really be challenged, that's for sure.

Pender has to bring their "A" game and really take it to everyone for four quarters.

The Pendragons have to try and at least be competitive in every game of the tournament.

Pender has to play hard and be confident when they shoot the ball.

The Pendragons need to get in the gym on their own during this moratorium period.

I think it's imperative that Pender works out and shoots and stays loose.

The last thing the Pendragons can afford to do is sit around for five days and be physically inactive.

Pender has to stay sharp and in game shape if at all possible.

The Pendragons need to get fired up over the break and come out and play with tons of passion, pride, fire, toughness, tenacity, and grit over the weekend.

Pender has to to play hard and smart this weekend, and continue to win and make strides as program.

A win heading into the Holiday Break had to feel good, and the kids should enjoy the Christmas Holiday with their family.

Friday night's game is scheduled for an 8:30 p.m. start at Rice Auditorium.

The Pender Girls won 51-44 at home over Lutheran High Northeast on Thursday, December 12th before losing 54-26 at Oakland-Craig on Friday, December 13th, 67-40 at Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family last Tuesday night, and 59-47 at North Bend Central Thursday night, before winning 46-14 at home over Stanton on Saturday.

The Pendragons led LHNE 13-4 after one, and quadrupled up the Eagles 12-3 in the 2nd quarter to take a 25-7 lead into the locker room.

LHNE won the 3rd quarter 16-13 to make it a 38-23 game at the end of three.

The Eagles outscored Pender 21-13 in the 4th quarter.

The Bulldogs led 21-16 after one, and doubled up the Pendragons 14-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 35-23 lead into the locker room.

H/LHF doubled up Pender 22-11 in the 3rd quarter to go up 57-34 at the end of three.

The Bulldogs won the 4th quarter 10-6.

The Tigers led 16-13 at the end of one before the Pendragons won the 2nd quarter 14-11 to tie the game at 27 at halftime.

North Bend Central won the 3rd quarter 15-9 to go up 42-36 at the end of three.

The Tigers won the 4th quarter 17-11.

Tough stretch of games for Pender, but a nice dominate win to close out the pre-Christmas Schedule.

The Pendragons (4-3) take on Wayne (4-3) in the first round of the Wayne Holiday Tournament Friday night.

The Blue Devils lost 58-51 at home to O'Neill on Saturday.

Wayne is a solid team who has lost to some great teams and even beat Wahoo.

I think Pender can definitely hold their own and win though.

The Pendragons are definitely on the tough side of the bracket as they will play either Hastings St. Cecilia or Hartington Cedar Catholic in their second game.

I feel Pender has a chance to at least go 2-1 in this tournament.

I think the 3rd or 5th place game is very possible for the Pendragons.

Pender has to raise their level of play and play great basketball though.

The Pendragons have to step things up and build upon what they did on Saturday.

Pender can definitely beat Wayne if they're on top of their game so we will see what happens.

I feel the Pendragons can definitely benefit from some shooting and working out over the moratorium period.

Of course Pender has to do this on their own as practicing is not allowed, but staying fresh and sharp and in game shape is very important for the Pendragons I feel.

The last thing Pender can afford to do is sit around and do nothing for five days.

I feel the Pendragons can definitely make some noise in this tournament, and feel like they could be a real darkhorse.

I wouldn't be surprised one bit if Pender beat Wayne.

I feel the Pendragons are more than capable of beating the Blue Devils, and I feel like it could really happen.

It won't be easy, but it is definitely possible, in my opinion.

Tip-off is slated for 7:00 p.m. at Wayne State's Rice Auditorium.

West Point-Beemer Boys lose to North Bend Central and Howells-Dodge; Girls fall to Tigers, beat Jaguars

The West Point-Beemer Boys lost 61-25 at home to North Bend Central on Thursday, December 12th in action aired on 107.9 the Bull before falling 54-41 at Howells-Dodge Tuesday night also in action aired on the Bull.

The Tigers led 18-5 after one, and won the 2nd quarter 13-12 to go up 31-17 at halftime.

North Bend Central outscored the Cadets 13-3 in the 3rd quarter to lead 44-20 at the end of three.

The Tigers outscored West Point-Beemer 17-5 in the 4th quarter.

Zach Vander Griend had 10 points for the Cadets.

The Jaguars led 13-11 after one, and outscored West Point-Beemer 17-6 in the 2nd quarter to take a 30-17 lead into the locker room.

The Cadets won the 3rd quarter 14-10 to make it a 40-31 game at the end of three.

Howells-Dodge won the 4th quarter 14-10.

Vander Griend led West Point-Beemer with 16 points.

The Cadets (1-4) face defending C-1 State Champion Auburn (4-0) in the first round of the Great Northeast Nebraska Shootout in Wayne on Friday.

The Bulldogs won 55-35 at Freeman Friday night.

This will be a tremendous challenge for West Point-Beemer.

I think the game could be an eye opener for the Cadets in that West Point-Beemer will see a top team not from around the area.

The Cadets have to come out and play good basketball early, and maintain a high level of play throughout.

Auburn is a great team and program led by former Beatrice Coach Jim Weeks, and the Bulldogs will be tough for West Point-Beemer to deal with no doubt.

Hopefully the Cadets are in the gym shooting and working on their game right now because I feel West Point-Beemer could really use the work in the gym.

The Cadets have to work on shooting because scoring has been an issue for West Point-Beemer this season.

The Cadets have been fairly respectable defensively, it's just the offense that needs to kick it into high gear.

I must admit I am surprised West Point-Beemer has struggled as much as they have offensively.

But then again the Cadets are a young team and are under a first year Head Coach in Jahn Kile.

So it's going to take time for West Point-Beemer to get to where they need to be, but I feel this tournament is an opportunity for growth and improvement from the Cadets.

I think it would be a big step in the right direction for West Point-Beemer to at least compete and keep things close with Auburn.

The Cadets have been in most games they've played so far this year, but the thing West Point-Beemer has to avoid on Friday is getting ran out of the gym.

The Cadets will face either Arlington or Laurel-Concord-Coleridge on Saturday.

Hopefully West Point-Beemer comes out and plays inspired basketball this weekend.

Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at Wayne State College.

The West Point-Beemer Girls lost 53-43 at home to North Bend Central on Thursday, December 12th in action that was aired on 107.9 the Bull before winning 40-34 at Howells-Dodge last Tuesday night in action also aired on the Bull.

The Tigers led 14-10 after one, and won the 2nd quarter 15-10 to take a 29-20 lead into the locker room.

The Cadets won the 3rd quarter 15-12 to make it a 41-35 game at the end of three.

North Bend Central won the 4th quarter 12-8.

Sidney Swanson had 24 points.

West Point-Beemer led the Jaguars 6-4 after one, and outscored Howells-Dodge 15-8 in the 2nd quarter to take a 21-12 lead into the locker room.

The Jaguars won the 3rd quarter 16-11 to make it a 32-28 game at the end of three.

The Cadets won the 4th quarter 8-6.

Swanson had 24 points for the Cadets while Hannah Landholm added 7. Jadyn Meiergerd totaled 7 rebounds.

I thought West Point-Beemer played North Bend Central tough, and did enough to beat Howells-Dodge.

The Cadets (3-2) take on Auburn (1-4) in the first round of the Great Northeast Nebraska Shootout at Wayne State on Friday.

The Bulldogs picked up their first win of the season at Freeman Friday night, winning 35-29.

West Point-Beemer should be able to win this one you would think.

Auburn has played a tough schedule and has been in most games they've played, but have come up short quite a bit.

I look for the Cadets to get their rematch with Arlington in the Semifinals and advance to the Championship against Hastings St. Cecilia more than likely.

I think West Point-Beemer can at least go 2-1 in this tournament.

That would be pretty solid for the Cadets if they can do it.

West Point-Beemer needs to stay active and busy shooting and running and stuff on their own during the moratorium.

I think it's very important for the Cadets to workout during this moratorium period.

West Point-Beemer has to come out sharp on Friday as opposed to flat or something of that nature.

I feel Friday's game has a chance to be low scoring and defensive, but we will see what happens.

I'm waiting for the Cadets to break out offensively, and feel that could and will happen at some point this year.

West Point-Beemer needs other girls besides Swanson to step up offensively.

She kind of single handily carried the Cadets against the Tigers and Jaguars.

The more shooting West Point-Beemer does during this moratorium period the better off I feel they will be.

The Cadets need to have a good showing in this tournament, and do everything they can to win it.

If West Point-Beemer can at least get to the Championship Game I think that would be a very positive thing.

I feel the Cadets' best basketball is ahead of them, and look for them to play well this weekend.

Friday's game is scheduled to tip-off at 12:30 p.m. at Rice Auditorium.

Clarkson/Leigh Boys 1-3 in last four games; Girls 3-2 in last five

The Clarkson/Leigh Boys lost 82-54 at home to Oakland-Craig in action aired on 107.9 the Bull on Tuesday, December 10th before winning 65-10 at Winside on Thursday, December 12th, and then losing 66-19 at BRLD on Friday, December 13th, and 77-61 at Howells-Dodge on Saturday.

The Knights got out to a 22-17 lead at the end of one on the Patriots before winning the 2nd quarter 23-14 to take a 45-31 lead into the locker room.

Oakland-Craig outscored Clarkson/Leigh 24-7 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 69-38 at the end of three.

The Patriots won the 4th quarter 16-13.

Lance Paprocki had 17 points while Carter Hanel notched 8 points and 11 rebounds. Jarred Novotny added 7 points.

The Patriots won the 4th quarter 21-17.

Fantastic effort by Clarkson/Leigh against Winside and Howells-Dodge.

The Patriots (2-4) battle Arcadia/Loup City (4-3) in the first round of the Shelby-Rising City Holiday Tournament on Friday.

The Rebels lost 49-34 at home to St. Paul Friday night.

Arcadia/Loup City is a pretty strong and solid team this year.

Clarkson/Leigh is going to have their hands full I don't think there's any doubt about that.

It looks like Isaak Wiese has been playing lately so that's a good and promising sign for the Patriots.

It would be awesome if Clarkson/Leigh had Tommy McEvoy too, but the Patriots know they will be without him for the entire year.

Clarkson/Leigh has to get in the gym and shoot on their own and workout individually as much as possible during this moratorium period.

The Patriots can't just sit around and do nothing for five days, they need to stay loose and in game shape.

And it doesn't require a lot of work on Clarkson/Leigh's part, just some light shooting and running should do the trick.

The Patriots have to come out sharp and ready to play on Friday.

Clarkson/Leigh has to be efficient on the offensive end like they were against the Jaguars, and must play stingy defense.

The Rebels are a good defensive team, and so the Patriots have to match their defensive intensity and effort as well.

Clarkson/Leigh has to be committed to stopping Arcadia/Loup City and making a conscious effort to slow them down.

The Patriots have to make their lay ups and free throws and must limit turnovers as well.

Clarkson/Leigh also has to create turnovers and box out and rebound well also.

The Patriots can't be afraid to take charges, and have to up and raise their level of play on Friday.

Tip-off is set for 1:45 p.m. in Shelby.

The Clarkson/Leigh Girls lost 55-31 at home to Oakland-Craig on Tuesday, December 10th in action aired on 107.9 the Bull before winning 56-15 at Winside on Thursday, December 12th, and then falling 37-29 at BRLD on Friday, December 13th, winning 50-24 at David City last Tuesday night, and defeating Howells-Dodge 53-36 on the road Saturday.

Clarkson/Leigh outscored the Knights 11-4 in the 4th quarter.

Kennedy Settje had 9 points while Cassidy Hoffman totaled 8.

The Patriots led the Wildcats 15-2 at the end of one before tripling up Winside 21-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 36-9 lead into the locker room.

Clarkson/Leigh outscored the Wildcats 16-1 in the 3rd quarter to go up 52-10 a the end of three.

Winside won the 4th quarter 5-4.

Settje totaled 10 points while Hoffman notched 9. Ashlynn Novotny registered 8 while Alissa Kasik posted 7.

Kasik had 11 points while Novotny totaled 7. Kim Stodola registered 10 rebounds while Hoffman posted 7.

The Scouts tripled up Clarkson/Leigh 9-3 in the 1st quarter. The Patriots outscored David City 22-4 in the 2nd quarter to go up 25-13 at halftime.

Clarkson/Leigh quadrupled up the Scouts 16-4 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 41-17 at the end of three.

The Patriots won the 4th quarter 9-7.

Hoffman had 9 points and 11 rebounds while Faith Indra added 9 points. Stodola, Settje, and Kasik each had 7 points while Novotny had 11 rebounds. Kayden Schumacher recorded 7 rebounds of her own.

Hoffman and Stodola each registered 14 points while Settje and Novotny recorded 12 and 9, respectively.

Solid play from the Patriots in the last four games.

Clarkson/Leigh (4-3) battles Arcadia/Loup City (4-3) in the first round of the Shelby-Rising City Holiday Tournament on Friday.

The Rebels lost 61-37 at home to St. Paul Friday night.

I think Arcadia/Loup City is one of those teams who beats who they're supposed to, but falls to the juggernauts on their schedule.

The Patriots have kind of fared the same way this year, but I feel Clarkson/Leigh has been more dominant in their wins.

I look for the Patriots to win this one and advance to the championship.

I think the winner of this game will win the championship.

I feel Clarkson/Leigh has a good chance to win this tournament.

The girls need to stay active and must shoot and run around and play the game during this moratorium period though.

Sitting around and doing nothing for five days is not a good idea.

These girls need to stay in game shape and need to be fresh and ready to go on Friday.

The Patriots have a great chance to win this tournament and head into January with a 6-3 record.

I feel Clarkson/Leigh has played some good basketball as a whole so far this year, and look for the Patriots to play well again this weekend.

Clarkson/Leigh has to come out and play well and inspired from the start.

The Patriots have to play smart and must have heart.

Clarkson/Leigh has to play with tons of passion, pride, toughness, fire, grit, and tenacity.

The Patriots must take the fight to the Rebels for four quarters on Friday, and really get after things from start to finish.

Clarkson/Leigh has to come out and play suffocating defense while finding a way to manufacture points offensively.

I think getting to 50 points is the key for the Patriots. Clarkson/Leigh is 4-0 when scoring 50+ points and 0-3 when scoring under 50.

Tip-off is set for noon in Shelby.
