Clarkson/Leigh Boys 0-2 to start season; Girls 1-1

The Clarkson/Leigh Boys are off to a tough start as the Patriots lost 61-34 at Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family Friday night and 92-43 at Oakland-Craig Tuesday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.

The Bulldogs rumbled to a 27-4 lead after one, and won the 2nd quarter 10-6 to take a 37-10 lead into the locker room.

Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family won the 3rd quarter 15-12 to go up 52-22 at the end of three.

The Patriots outscored the Bulldogs 12-9 in the 4th quarter.

Tommy McEvoy had 8 points and 9 rebounds while Daniel Beller totaled 8 points and 11 rebounds. Carter Hanel added 7 points and 10 rebounds.

The Knights jumped out to a 20-9 lead after one and outscored Clarkson/Leigh 28-12 in the 2nd quarter to take a 48-21 lead into the locker room.

Oakland-Craig won the 3rd quarter 20-17 to go up 68-38 at the end of three.

The Knights outscored the Patriots 24-5 in the 4th quarter.

Jarred Novotny led the way with 16 points while McEvoy totaled 13 points and 8 rebounds. Beller added a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Tough sledding in the early going for Clarkson/Leigh.

The Patriots (0-2) host Winside (0-2) Thursday night.

The Wildcats lost 63-13 at home to Wynot Friday night.

I know Clarkson/Leigh really struggled their first two games, but I feel this is going to be a win for the Patriots.

I look for Beller, McEvoy, Novotny, and Hanel to all have nice games for Clarkson/Leigh.

This has to be a total and complete team effort from the Patriots.

Clarkson/Leigh has to come out and be aggressive and confident.

The Patriots have to play their hearts out and will themselves to the finish line.

It hasn't been easy so far for Clarkson/Leigh, but I feel the Patriots have a good shot to win this one.

It's a must win for Clarkson/Leigh if you will....the Patriots really need this one.

Clarkson/Leigh has a really tough schedule before Christmas break after this so the Patriots could really use a win Thursday night.

Clarkson/Leigh has to come out and put things all together for four quarters and turn in an outstanding performance.

The Patriots have to have the kind of effort that gets them not only a win, but back on the right track as well.

Clarkson/Leigh has BRLD on Friday, and games coming up with Howells-Dodge and Columbus Lakeview before Christmas so the Patriots really need this one Thursday night.

I think things will come together for Clarkson/Leigh and feel they will beat Winside, but the Wildcats won't just rollover and hand things over to the Patriots.

Clarkson/Leigh is going to have to earn it, which makes working hard and executing of the utmost importance.

This is a game the Patriots should win....they're at home, in front of their fans and everything.

There's no better time than now to get your first win of the season if you are Clarkson/Leigh.

It's time for the Patriots to get that monkey off their back and get in the win column in 2018-2019.

The Clarkson/Leigh Girls are off to a solid start as the Patriots won 44-35 on the road at Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family Thursday night before losing 42-29 at Oakland-Craig in action aired on 107.9 the Bull Tuesday night.

The Patriots and Bulldogs were deadlocked at 8 after one before Clarkson/Leigh won the 2nd quarter 16-13 to take a 24-21 lead into the locker room.

The Patriots outscored Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family 10-7 in the 3rd and 4th quarters, leading 34-28 at the end of three.

Ashlynn Novotny had 14 points while Kaegan Held and Hannah Kasik added 12 and 8, respectively.

The Knights tripled up Clarkson/Leigh 12-4 in the 1st quarter before the Patriots won the 2nd quarter 12-10 to make it a 22-16 game at halftime.

Clarkson/Leigh won the 3rd quarter 10-9 to crawl within 5 at 31-26 at the end of three.

Oakland-Craig outscored the Patriots 11-3 in the 4th quarter.

Kasik had a team-high 13 points.

Nice win for Clarkson/Leigh over Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family, and a nice effort against Oakland-Craig as well.

The Patriots (1-1) host Winside (0-2) Thursday night.

The Wildcats lost 53-10 at home to Wynot Friday night.

This should be a good bounce back win for Clarkson/Leigh.

Of course the big one is at home Friday night against BRLD so the Patriots have to come out and establish a high level of play Thursday night.

Clarkson/Leigh has to play well and set the tone for Friday night.

The Patriots have to get a lot of girls in the game, and get valuable game experience for all.

There's no reason the Wildcats should hang around with Clarkson/Leigh for very long.

The Patriots should be able to handle Winside pretty easily I would think.

Clarkson/Leigh can't get caught looking ahead to the Wolverines though, and can't afford to take the Wildcats lightly.

The Patriots have to play smart and with heart, and work out the kinks offensively.

I'm sure Clarkson/Leigh feels the first and fourth quarters could have gone a lot better against Oakland-Craig.

It's about becoming a consistent basketball team night in and night out.

The Patriots are already a good basketball team, but need to take those next steps to become great and elite.

Clarkson/Leigh has to play hard and with pride, fire, tenacity, toughness, and grit.

The Patriots have to play the type of game that gets them prepared for the Wolverines Friday night.

This game against Winside is more or less a tune up for BRLD.

Clarkson/Leigh still has to come out and play well and be sharp though.

The last thing the Patriots can afford to do is come out and be sluggish.

It has to be total domination from start to finish for Clarkson/Leigh, and nothing else.

The Patriots have to really get after it on both ends of the floor, and leave no doubt.
