Wisner-Pilger Boys start off 1-1; Girls 0-2

The Wisner-Pilger Boys Basketball Team is off to a 1-1 start as the Gators lost 63-56 at Lutheran High Northeast last Thursday night before winning 66-41 at home over GACC on Friday in action heard on 107.9 the Bull.

The Eagles led 21-17 after one and won the 2nd quarter 20-18 to take a 41-35 lead into the locker room.

The Gators won the 3rd quarter 8-7 to make it a 48-43 game at the end of three.

LHNE won the 4th quarter 15-13.

The Gators led the Bluejays 19-5 after one before GACC won the 2nd quarter 19-13 to make it a 32-24 game at halftime in favor of Wisner-Pilger.

The Gators won the 3rd quarter 14-12 to extend their lead to 46-36 at the end of three.

Wisner-Pilger quadrupled up the Bluejays 20-5 in the 4th quarter.

Not a bad start to the season for the Gators.

Wisner-Pilger (1-1) hosts Tekamah-Herman (0-2) Friday night.

The Tigers lost 70-42 at home to Pender Friday night.

I feel Tekamah-Herman is better than they were last year, but I don't think the Gators will have much trouble with them.

Wisner-Pilger played an extremely good game against the Bluejays it appears, and I look for the Gators to build on that win.

The loss to the Eagles was tough, but it was the first game of the season.

Wisner-Pilger has had ample practice time to get kinks and things worked and ironed out so the Gators should be ready to go Friday night.

This is the only game of the week for Wisner-Pilger so the Gators have to come out sharp and ready to go.

It would be easy for the team to waltz into this one thinking they already have it won, but Wisner-Pilger can't do that.

The Gators have to come out and respect Tekamah-Herman, and play a good game.

Wisner-Pilger has Oakland-Craig and Wayne next week so the Gators have to use this game against the Tigers as a building block for those two contests.

Wisner-Pilger has to play with pride, toughness, tenacity, fire, and grit.

The Gators need to get off to a strong start, and finish the game strong, much like they did against GACC.

This is one of those games where Wisner-Pilger should be able to build a big enough lead to get backups in.

I look for the Gators to get a lot of kids ample playing time, and a lot of good, valuable game experience.

The starters need some good work with it being the only game of the week, but everyone should get some good playing time in this one.

Wisner-Pilger has to come out and take care of business and leave their mark in this one.

The Gators have to turn in the type of performance that is pleasing to everyone involved.

The Wisner-Pilger Girls are off to a slow start as the Gators lost 39-28 at Lutheran High Northeast last Thursday night and 57-26 at home to GACC Friday night in action heard on 107.9 the Bull.

The Eagles led the Gators 15-6 after one, and won the 2nd quarter 6-5 to take a 21-11 lead into the locker room.

LHNE outscored Wisner-Pilger 14-8 in the 3rd quarter to go up 35-19 at the end of three.

The Gators won the 4th quarter 9-4.

GACC led the Gators 15-4 at the end of one, and outscored Wisner-Pilger 21-6 in the 2nd quarter to take a 36-10 lead into the locker room.

The Bluejays won the 3rd quarter 13-7 to go up 49-17 at the end of three.

The Gators won the 4th quarter 9-8.

Tough and slow start to the season for Wisner-Pilger, but it's early.

The Gators (0-2) host Tekamah-Herman (1-2) Friday night.

The Tigers won 54-29 at home over DC West Tuesday night.

This figures to be a close and intriguing game.

I think Wisner-Pilger might pick up their first win of the season, but it won't be easy.

The Gators have to defend well and pick up their scoring.

A lack of offense has really hurt Wisner-Pilger so far this season.

The Gators need to be confident when they shoot, and work for good, easy shots and get to the free throw line.

Wisner-Pilger's defense has been solid it's just the offense that needs work.

I look for this to be a low scoring, close type of affair.

I think the Gators will play hard and smart, and possibly win.

The biggest thing, regardless of if Wisner-Pilger wins or loses, is to get better and have fun.

These girls need to have a positive experience from playing the game, and learn valuable life lessons from it regardless of how the game turns out.

The Gators have Oakland-Craig and Wayne next week so Wisner-Pilger could really use a win Friday night.

The Gators have to play with a sense of purpose and urgency, and must take the fight to Tekamah-Herman for four quarters.

Wisner-Pilger has to play hard, smart, and must give it their all.

The Gators need to rebound well and box out, and get their hands in the passing lane to create turnovers.

Being in the triple threat position offensively is going to be key too, in my opinion.

Wisner-Pilger has to play the absolute best game they possibly can, and do everything in their power to win.

The Gators cannot accept losing and failure.
