Emerson-Hubbard Boys and Girls lose to Bloomfield and BRLD
The Emerson-Hubbard Boys Basketball Team lost 46-30 at Bloomfield on Monday before falling 61-22 at BRLD Tuesday night.
The Pirates led the Bees 8-2 after one before Bloomfield outscored Emerson-Hubbard 14-2 in the 2nd quarter to take a 16-10 lead into the locker room.
Both teams scored 12 points in the 3rd quarter, and the score was 28-22 in favor of Bloomfield.
The Bees outscored the Pirates 18-8 in the 4th quarter.
Nolan Belt had 12 points and 9 rebounds while Jacob Kneifl registered 7 rebounds.
The Wolverines led the Pirates 17-0 after one and quadrupled up Emerson-Hubbard 16-4 in the 2nd quarter to take a 33-4 lead into the locker room.
BRLD tripled up the Pirates 18-6 in the 3rd quarter to go up 51-10 at the end of three.
Emerson-Hubbard won the 4th quarter 12-10.
Slow start for the Pirates, especially on offense.
Emerson-Hubbard (0-2) takes on Laurel-Concord-Coleridge (3-0) on the road Friday night.
The Bears won 89-43 at Homer Tuesday night.
This is the 3rd game of the week for the Pirates so Emerson-Hubbard has to be full of energy and ready to play.
The Pirates have to be a lot more efficient offensively than they were in their first two games.
Emerson-Hubbard is a work in progress with a new coach and system and everything, but the thing you hope to see from the kids is growth and improvement.
I feel the Pirates can become a really good team, they just need repetition and more time in the gym.
Going up against a team like Laurel-Concord-Coleridge is a definite challenge, but it's the type of team and game you want to play if you are Emerson-Hubbard.
The Pirates can't back down from the challenge at all.
Emerson-Hubbard has to go in there with a confidence and belief that they can win.
The Pirates have to shake off their first two performances of the season, and be a whole new ball club Friday night.
Emerson-Hubbard has to get out and run, and be aggressive.
The Pirates have to take chances and feel as if they have nothing to lose because they really don't.
Emerson-Hubbard has to play the passing lanes aggressively and try and create extra possessions with turnovers.
The Pirates also need to take care of the ball and maximize their scoring.
Emerson-Hubbard can become an elite team they just need to see the ball go through the hoop more.
And the more ball the Pirates play, the more comfortable they are with things, the more scoring they naturally will do.
Emerson-Hubbard has to take charges and be willing to sacrifice their bodies as well.
Good post position and ball handling is going to be critical for this team as well in my opinion.
The Pirates have to go out there and give it all they got and do everything in their power to win.
The Emerson-Hubbard Girls are also 0-2 on the season, falling 49-31 at Bloomfield on Monday, and 71-20 at BRLD Tuesday night.
The Bees led 9-7 after one and outscored the Pirates 14-2 in the 2nd quarter to take a 23-9 lead into the locker room.
Bloomfield won the 3rd quarter 10-9 to go up 33-18 at the end of three.
The Bees also won the 4th quarter 16-13.
Two tough games for Emerson-Hubbard.
The Pirates (0-2) take on Laurel-Concord-Coleridge (1-2) on the road Friday night.
The Bears lost 60-58 at Homer Tuesday night.
I think Emerson-Hubbard has the potential to do well in this one.
I think BRLD is a much stronger team than Laurel-Concord-Coleridge although I think the Bears are stronger than the Bees.
Regardless, the Pirates have to go into Laurel and believe they can and expect to win.
Emerson-Hubbard has to go out there and give it their all despite low numbers.
Staying out of foul trouble and being smart, but aggressive is going to be important for the Pirates, in my opinion.
A lack of depth certainly appears to have hurt Emerson-Hubbard so far, but all the Pirates can do is make the best of the situation and make do with they've got.
Emerson-Hubbard has to get the most out of each other that they can, and maximize their abilities and potential.
The girls have to be positive and influential towards one another.
The Pirates have to work as a cohesive unit, and be all about the team and each other.
Addison Mackling, Stephanie Ferrusca, and others need to step up and play well for Emerson-Hubbard.
The Pirates have to take the bull by the horns and turn their season around the best they can.
This is Emerson-Hubbard's 3rd game this week so legs might be tired and bodies might be worn out, but the Pirates have to find that extra gear.
Emerson-Hubbard has to try and find a way to adapt to and overcome their lack of numbers if at all possible.
Extra conditioning might be one way to make that happen.
The Pirates just have to keep working relentlessly to make this team and season a success, and it definitely can be in terms of wins and losses if Emerson-Hubbard finds a way to adapt to and overcome their lack of numbers, if that's even something that is possible.
