Oakland-Craig Boys 2-1 in last three games; Girls 3-0 in same span

The Oakland-Craig Boys Basketball Team is 2-1 in their last three games, winning 56-38 at Pender Friday night before winning 79-60 at Howells-Dodge on Saturday. The Knights fell 65-63 in overtime at Winnebago Tuesday night.

Oakland-Craig got out to a 14-3 lead on the Pendragons after one before winning the 2nd quarter 24-10 lead into the locker room.

The Knights outscored Pender 23-13 in the 3rd quarter to go up 47-23 at the end of three.

The Pendragons won the 4th quarter 15-9.

Robby Mayberry had 14 points while Colton Thomsen and Jared Mulder notched 10 apiece. Jaron Meyer added 9 while Wyatt Seagren recorded 8 points and 10 rebounds.

The Knights led the Jaguars 20-19 after one, and outscored them 29-19 in the 2nd quarter to take a 49-38 lead into the locker room.

Oakland-Craig outscored Howells-Dodge 17-8 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 66-46 at the end of three.

The Jaguars won the 4th quarter 14-13.

Garrison Dodge totaled 21 points and 7 rebounds while Thomsen notched 17 points. Tyson Harney had 11 while Seagren and Mulder registered 10 and 9, respectively.

The Indians led 14-12 after one and won the 2nd quarter 15-10 to go up 29-22 at halftime.

The Knights outscored Winnebago 21-11 in the 3rd quarter to lead 43-40 at the end of three.

The Indians won the 4th quarter 13-10 to tie the game at 53 at the end of regulation.

Winnebago outlasted Oakland-Craig 12-10 in the extra session.

Dodge finished with 20 points and 7 rebounds while Mulder and Mayberry posted 8 and 7 points, respectively. Seagren finished with 11 rebounds.

Nice wins for the Knights over the weekend, and a narrow, close, and tough loss Tuesday night.

Oakland-Craig (3-3) hosts Wisner-Pilger (2-1) Thursday night in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.

The Gators routed Tekamah-Herman 84-24 at home Friday night.

Wisner-Pilger is a solid team led by the likes of Jayden Raabe, Justin Pieper, Dylan Kneifl, Caden Jackson, Colby Heller, and others.

The Gators have size, speed, athleticism, and depth.

So does Oakland-Craig though, and this should be one heck of a game.

I think the start and finish to the game is going to be critical for the Knights.

If Oakland-Craig can start the game well and finish strong I think they have a good shot to win.

But if the Knights come out sluggish and are still disappointed about the loss to the Indians then it could prove to be costly.

Wisner-Pilger is well rested and fresh, and so you know they will be ready to go.

Oakland-Craig has played a lot of games lately, but the Knights have to find that extra gear Thursday night.

Oakland-Craig was so close to beating Winnebago, now the Knights have to use the disappointment of that loss and turn it into a victory Thursday night.

A win over the Gators would be a big win for Oakland-Craig.

I think this will be Wisner-Pilger's toughest test outside of the Lutheran High Northeast game to start the season.

The Knights had picked things up and were playing pretty darn good basketball up until the Winnebago loss, and didn't play bad against the Indians necessarily, but maybe not as well as they had in their previous three games.

The Indians are a good team though, comparable to the Gators, so I feel this game against Wisner-Pilger can really go either way.

The game being in Oakland really helps Oakland-Craig, in my opinion.

It should be a fun, great, and exciting game to call, and I'm really looking forward to it.

The game will be aired on the Bull after the Girls Game, which is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.

The Oakland-Craig Girls remain undefeated as the Knights won 58-46 at Pender Friday night, 51-34 at Howells-Dodge on Saturday, and 67-37 at Winnebago Tuesday night.

The Knights led the Pendragons 19-1 after one, and outscored them 18-12 in the 2nd quarter to take a 37-13 lead into the locker room.

Pender won the 3rd quarter 15-14 to make it a 51-28 game at the end of three in favor of Oakland-Craig.

The Pendragons outscored the Knights 18-7 in the 4th quarter.

Dacey Nelson led all scorers with 31 points and had 7 rebounds. Natalia McNeill registered 8 rebounds.

Oakland-Craig led the Jaguars 11-7 after one, and outscored them 17-11 in the 2nd quarter to take a 28-18 lead into the locker room.

The Knights won the 3rd quarter 9-7 to go up 37-25 at the end of three.

Oakland-Craig outscored Howells-Dodge 14-9 in the 4th quarter.

Nelson had a double-double of 25 points and 10 rebounds while Mya Guzinski and Ashley Denton posted 9 and 8 points, respectively. McNeill added 7 rebounds.

The Knights led the Indians 21-4 at the end of one and won the 2nd quarter 13-8 to take a 34-12 lead into the locker room.

Winnebago won the 3rd quarter 16-13 to make it a 47-28 game at the end of three.

Oakland-Craig outscored the Indians 20-9 in the 4th quarter.

Nelson led all scorers with 28 points and had 8 rebounds while McNeill and Jeaninna Blahak added 7 points apiece. Guzinski chipped in 9 rebounds.

Great play continues from the Knights, especially Nelson.

Oakland-Craig (5-0) plays host to Wisner-Pilger (1-2) Thursday night in action that will be aired on 107.9 the Bull.

The Gators won 32-25 at home over Tekamah-Herman Friday night for their first win of the season.

I don't think there's any doubt that Nelson is the key to this game for the Knights.

She has to continue to take over like she has, and must continue to play at a high level.

It hasn't been all Nelson though.

Players like Guzinski, Denton, Blahak, and McNeill have stepped up and contributed in big ways as well.

All these players compliment Nelson nicely, and it really makes for a dynamic duo for Oakland-Craig.

The Knights have to get out and run up and down the floor constantly, and press Wisner-Pilger to death as well.

Oakland-Craig has to be relentless with their attack, and must do what they did against Winnebago Tuesday night.

The game against the Indians may have been the Knights' best game of the year so far along with the win over Logan View/Scribner-Snyder.

Oakland-Craig has been very dominant so far this year, and I think that could very well continue Thursday night.

The Gators struggle to score, but play good defense, so as long as the Knights are on their game offensively they should be fine.

Both teams play really good defense, but I think the biggest difference in the game will be offense.

Oakland-Craig has scored over 50 points in four out of their five games, and has scored over 40 in all games while Wisner-Pilger has only scored over 30 in one game, that coming in the win over the Tigers.

I'm very excited to call some more High School Basketball on the Bull, and am really looking forward to broadcasting both the Knights and the Gators as they square off with one another.

It should be a lot of fun, and I'm hoping for a good, competitive ball game.

Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. with pregame at 5:45 on the Bull.
