The Howells-Dodge Boys Basketball Team is 1-3 in their last four contests, edging David City Aquinas 44-43 at home last Tuesday night before falling 57-55 at Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family Friday night, 79-60 at home to Oakland-Craig on Saturday, and 58-43 at West Point-Beemer Tuesday night.

The Bulldogs got out to a 17-7 lead after one before Howells-Dodge outscored them 27-17 in the 2nd quarter to tie the game at 34 at halftime.
Both teams scored 12 3rd quarter points, and the score after 3 was 46 all.
Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family won the 4th quarter 11-9.
The Knights led the Jaguars 20-19 after one, and outscored them 29-19 in the 2nd quarter to take a 49-38 lead into the locker room.

Howells-Dodge won the 4th quarter 16-13.
Nice win for the Jaguars last Tuesday, but Howells-Dodge seemed to hit a rut after the loss to the Bulldogs.
The Jaguars (3-3) host BRLD (4-0) Friday night.
The Wolverines routed Clarkson/Leigh 60-17 on the road Friday night.
BRLD is a very tough team, and this is a difficult time for Howells-Dodge to be playing them, in my opinion.
Reason being the Jaguars are pretty banged up from what I understand, and also because I don't think Howells-Dodge has played as well as they were in the early in the season the past couple of games.
The Jaguars have this game on Friday with the Wolverines and then a game at Clarkson/Leigh on Saturday so a couple of chances to right the ship if you are Howells-Dodge.
A blowout loss to BRLD Friday night could be tough to rebound and bounce back from on Saturday.
Not that the Jaguars need a whole lot to get up for their rivals in the Patriots, but I think doing well against the Wolverines would really help things for Saturday.
Howells-Dodge needs something to go their way this week given the struggles they've had over the last couple of games.
Perhaps the Jaguars will give BRLD a game at least, and win on Saturday.
Whatever the case may be, Howells-Dodge just has to find a way to get back on track.
The Jaguars can't let the past couple of games lead to more losses and further issues if they can help it.
The losses to the Knights and Cadets are in the past, and all Howells-Dodge can do now is move forward and get ready for this weekend.
The Jaguars have to try and overcome their injury situation the best they can, and give the Wolverines their best shot Friday night.
It's going to be tough though...BRLD is a very good basketball team.
You can bet Howells-Dodge will get the Wolverines best shot too so the Jaguars have to be ready to go from the get go.
I think the biggest thing for Howells-Dodge is to see growth and improvement Friday night, win or lose.
Whatever positives the Jaguars can take away from the game the more it will help them against Clarkson/Leigh on Saturday.
The Howells-Dodge Girls are 0-4 in their last four contests, falling 61-21 at home to David City Aquinas last Tuesday night, 65-32 at Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family Friday night, 51-34 at home to Oakland-Craig on Saturday, and 63-42 at West Point-Beemer Tuesday night.
The Monarchs led 20-13 after one and outscored the Jaguars 17-2 in the 2nd quarter to take a 37-15 lead into the locker room.
Aquinas outscored Howells-Dodge 17-4 in the 3rd quarter to lead 54-19 at the end of three.
The Monarchs won the 4th quarter 7-2.
Erin Prusa had 8 points for the Jaguars.
The Bulldogs led Howells-Dodge 23-2 after one before both teams scored 13 points to make it a 36-15 game at halftime.
Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family won the 3rd quarter 15-11 to go up 51-26 at the end of three.
The Bulldogs outscored the Jaguars 14-6 in the 4th quarter.
Jessi Brester had 13 points while Prusa notched 7.
Oakland-Craig led the Jaguars 11-7 after one, and outscored them 17-11 in the 2nd quarter to take a 28-18 lead into the locker room.
The Knights won the 3rd quarter 9-7 to go up 37-25 at the end of three.
Oakland-Craig outscored Howells-Dodge 14-9 in the 4th quarter.
Prusa totaled 15 points and 9 rebounds while Brester and Brooklyn Macholan registered 8 rebounds apiece.
West Point-Beemer doubled up the Jaguars 22-11 in the 1st quarter, and outscored them 21-9 in the 2nd quarter to take a 43-20 lead into the locker room.
Howells-Dodge won the 3rd and 4th quarters 11-10. The Cadets led 53-31 at the end of three.
Brester had 12 points while Macholan recorded 9. Cassie Pieper added 8 while Prusa notched 7.
Tough sledding for the Jaguars the last four games, but Macholan stepping up the last couple of games has been a welcomed sign, along with Brester and Prusa's production, and even Pieper's.
Howells-Dodge (1-5) hosts BRLD (3-1) Friday night.
The Wolverines lost 52-49 in overtime at Clarkson/Leigh Friday night.
This should be a good battle between two teams who could really use a bounce back win.
I think the Jaguars need it more than BRLD so we'll see how Howells-Dodge plays things Friday night.
The Jaguars have to come out and play with a sense of urgency and purpose, and must take the fight to the Wolverines for four quarters.
Howells-Dodge has to play out of their minds and get prepared for Saturday's game against Clarkson/Leigh.
The Jaguars have two tough games this weekend, and Howells-Dodge has had a gauntlet of a schedule so far, but the Jaguars have to respond well and persevere.
Adversity has struck Howells-Dodge immensely in the early season, but there's still quite a bit of time for the Jaguars to get back on track and right the ship.
Howells-Dodge has to turn in a big performance and a great effort Friday night.
BRLD is beatable, the Jaguars just have to get back to playing the type of defense they were playing prior to the loss to Aquinas.
The Wolverines are a really good offensive team, but are suspect defensively at times I feel so we'll see what happens.
I think the opportunity and potential for a win is there for the Jaguars they just have to execute offensively and do the little things to be successful.
Making good, smart passes, getting easy lay ups, getting to the free throw line and converting, getting good looks at the basket, boxing out and rebounding, and forcing turnovers and steals are all critical for Howells-Dodge to be able to come out on top I would say.
The Jaguars have to forget about what's happened the past four games, and turn in a great effort Friday night.
I thought Howells-Dodge did better against Oakland-Craig and even West Point-Beemer compared to the Aquinas and Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family Games so we'll see if the Jaguars can become consistent and build off the good things they did in those games and in the early season contests when Howells-Dodge knocked off Stanton and nearly beat Pierce.
