The Oakland-Craig Boys Basketball Team is off to a 1-2 start, falling 56-47 at Logan View/Scribner-Snyder in the season opener last Thursday night before losing 70-35 at Boys Town Monday night, and beating Clarkson/Leigh 92-43 at home Tuesday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.
The Raiders led the Knights 15-12 after one, and outscored Oakland-Craig 14-10 in the 2nd quarter to take a 29-22 lead into the locker room.
The Knights won the 3rd quarter 13-11 to make it a 40-35 game at the end of three.
LVSS won the 4th quarter 16-12.
Wyatt Seagren registered 16 points and 12 rebounds, good enough for a double-double. Robby Mayberry and Garrison Dodge had 9 points apiece while Jared Mulder added 7 points and 8 rebounds.

Gunner Ray led the way with 14 points while Mayberry and Ian Lundquist each scored 13. Tyson Harney notched 12 while Mulder chipped in 10. Dodge added 7.
Head Coach Aaron Meyer."We had to shoot the lid off. Jared and Tyson had open looks the last few games and just nothing would go down, and all it took was for one of them to make one. I think they both relaxed and kind of fed off each other. And once we started hitting some outside shots were just rolling. We got a bunch of younger guys that we put in that are athletic and hungry, and they really can stick it to you on both ends of the court, especially defensively, so even in a halfcourt defense they played really well."
Meyer adds his team played good defense. "You know whether we press that older group of guys doesn't press a whole lot, and we've been pushing them a little bit harder with that, and they've wanted to, so they did a nice job with the press, and then the second half we went to a little bit more of a halfcourt style of play. So we went from full court to halfcourt D there."
Oakland-Craig (1-2) battles Pender (1-1) on the road Friday night.
The Pendragons won 70-42 at Tekamah-Herman Friday night.
The Pendragons are a good and respectable team, and this game figures to be a challenge for the Knights there's no doubt about it.
Oakland-Craig played really well Tuesday night though, and I look for the Knights to turn in another great performance Friday night.
Oakland-Craig will have played four games by the time this week is over, and I think it's a good challenge and early season test for the Knights at the very least.
Oakland-Craig has a couple more opportunities for wins this week, and I look for the Knights to come out and play well.
I was really impressed with how well Oakland-Craig responded Tuesday night following Monday night's loss.
The Raiders and Cowboys are very good teams, but I thought the Knights got a lot better from Monday to Tuesday.
The thing for Oakland-Craig now is to keep stepping up and improving.
The Knights need to play at a high level Friday night and on Saturday at Howells-Dodge.
Oakland-Craig has their work cut out for them this weekend, but the Knights have the potential to do well and be successful in both games, in my opinion.
I think it all boils down to how well Oakland-Craig executes and how badly they want it.
The Pendragons and Jaguars are good teams, and the Knights are going to have to work hard if they want to pick up a couple of wins.
It can definitely happen though. Oakland-Craig just has to get out and run create turnovers defensively.
The Knights have to take care of the ball and get to the free throw line.
Oakland-Craig needs a carbon copy of what they did Tuesday night.
That game is the recipe for success. The Knights need to do what they can to play like that night in and night out.
The Oakland-Craig Girls are off to a 2-0 start, topping Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 65-32 on the road last Thursday night before winning 40-29 at home against Clarkson/Leigh Tuesday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.
The Knights led 17-5 after one and outscored Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 21-6 in the 2nd quarter to take a 38-11 lead into the locker room.
Oakland-Craig won the 3rd quarter 13-10 to extend their lead to 51-21 at the end of three.
The Knights won the 4th quarter 14-11.
Dacey Nelson had 15 points while Ashley Denton had 12. Mya Guzinski chipped in 12 points and 11 rebounds, good enough for a double-double.
The Knights tripled up Clarkson/Leigh 12-4 in the 1st quarter before the Patriots won the 2nd quarter 12-10 to make it a 22-16 game at halftime.
Clarkson/Leigh won the 3rd quarter 10-9 to crawl within 5 at 31-26 at the end of three.
Oakland-Craig outscored the Patriots 11-3 in the 4th quarter.
Nelson led all scorers with 28 points.
Excellent start to the season for the Knights.
Oakland-Craig (2-0) travels to Pender to take on the Pendragons (2-0) Friday night.
Pender won 51-36 at Tekamah-Herman Friday night.
The Pendragons are a very good, respectable team.
The Knights have to key on Ashley Ostrand, Sarah Krueger, Faith Morris, Michaela Wegner, and others.
Nelson, Guzinski, and Denton have to play the way they did against the Raiders, and Nelson has to play the way she did against the Patriots also.
Nelson was a one woman wrecking crew Tuesday night.
I look for the game with Pender to go about like the game with Clarkson/Leigh did.
Oakland-Craig is at their best when they get offensive balance though.
This all appears to be without Kennedy Benne too as it doesn't look like she played the first couple of games.
The Knights are a lethal team even without her though.
Oakland-Craig has a couple of tough tests this weekend with games at Pender, and Howells-Dodge on Saturday.
The Knights have to be ready and on top of their game both nights.
Both opponents are good, tough, and quality teams so Oakland-Craig has to be ready to go from the get go.
The Knights have to come out and play well and execute in all facets of the game.
Nelson has to go off, and the team could really benefit from Guzinski and Denton going off for double digits again.
Oakland-Craig has to get up and down the floor, and force both teams to play faster than they want.
The Knights are a quick, athletic, and up tempo team, and would love to get up and down the floor as much as possible I'm sure.
Things ease up some after Saturday so if Oakland-Craig can get both games this weekend I think they have a really good and strong chance to be undefeated heading into the Holiday Break.
