Tekamah-Herman Boys knock off Omaha Brownell-Talbot in regular season finale, fall to GACC in Sub-Districts

 

The Tekamah-Herman Boys won 61-58 in OT at Omaha Brownell-Talbot in last Friday night's regular season finale before falling 50-48 to GACC in the C2-3 Sub-District Play-In Game at Oakland-Craig Monday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.

The Tigers got out to an 18-12 lead on the Raiders at the end of one, and won the 2nd quarter 9-8 to take a 27-20 lead into the locker room.

Brownell-Talbot outscored Tekamah-Herman 19-12 in the 3rd quarter to tie the game at 39 at the end of three.

Both teams scored 13 4th quarter points, and the game was tied at 52 at the end of regulation.

The Tigers outlasted the Raiders 9-6 in the extra session.

Brock Rogers led the way with 26 points and 15 rebounds, good enough for a double-double. Wyatt Deemer added 17 points while Jed Hoover notched 9.

GACC took a 10-8 lead after the first quarter, and went on to lead 20-16 at halftime.

Tekamah-Herman came out strong in the second half, and outscored the Bluejays 15-11 in the third quarter. The game was tied 31-31 after three periods.

The teams fought each other back-and-forth throughout the fourth quarter. There were multiple ties and lead changes in the final period, but in the end, GACC was able to walk away with the win.

Rogers and Hoover scored 14 points apiece to lead Tekamah-Herman while Kaleb Quick totaled 8 points and 7 rebounds.

Valiant effort and strong finish to the season for the Tigers.

Tekamah-Herman ends their season at 7-15.

I thought the Tigers were vastly improved this year and narrowed the gap against the field of competition.

Rogers averaged 18 points a game this season while Hoover averaged 15.

Rogers was also the team's leading rebounder with 127 while Quick finished with 122.

Tekamah-Herman says goodbye to Dylan Chatt and Eldridge Jensen.

These two will be missed immensely, but the Tigers have a lot coming back next year.

Tekamah-Herman returns the likes of Rogers, Bret Brenneis, Deemer, Hoover, Drew Oligmueller, Noah Stahr, and Quick.

The Tigers should be very proud of what they accomplished this year.

I think Tekamah-Herman is definitely going to be a team to be reckoned with in the future for sure.

This should motivate the Tigers to work really hard and really get after it this offseason and heading into next year.

I look for Tekamah-Herman to be even more improved this year than they were last year.

Wisner-Pilger Boys beat Madison in regular season finale, fall to Clarkson/Leigh in Sub-Districts; Girls lose to Howells-Dodge in Sub-Districts

 

The Wisner-Pilger Boys defeated Madison 57-35 at home last Friday night in the regular season finale before falling 52-37 to Clarkson/Leigh in the C2-3 Sub-District Semifinals at Oakland-Craig Tuesday night.

The Gators led the Dragons 14-8 after one, and doubled up Madison 14-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 28-15 lead into the locker room.

Wisner-Pilger won the 3rd quarter 10-9 to go up 38-24 at the end of three.

The Gators outscored the Dragons 19-11 in the 4th quarter.

The Patriots led 11-9 after one, and outscored the Gators 14-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 26-16 lead into the locker room.

Clarkson/Leigh won the 3rd quarter 14-11 to go up 40-27 at the end of three.

The Patriots won the 4th quarter 12-10.

Wisner-Pilger ends the year at 9-14.

The Gators say goodbye to Rockney Peck, Regan Bellar, Klay Koehlmoos, and Tyler Kimble.

These four were incredible contributors for Wisner-Pilger this season and throughout their careers no doubt.

Key returners include Beau Ruskamp, Hunter Palmer, Jackson Knust, Spencer Batenhorst, Kyle Rehak, and Owen Heller.

The Gators had a coaching transition this past year with Chet Beckmann taking over for Duane Mendlik, the all-time winningest Basketball Coach in Nebraska High School Basketball History.

The Gators did some nice things this year, but there is definitely room for improvement.

Wisner-Pilger has to have a good summer and really get after it with the weights, conditioning, and on the court work.

The Wisner-Pilger Girls fell 59-48 to Howells-Dodge in the C2-3 Sub-District Semifinals from GACC last Tuesday night.

Both the Jaguars and Gators scored 13 points in the 1st quarter. Howells-Dodge outscored Wisner-Pilger 26-14 in the 2nd quarter to take a 39-27 lead into the locker room.

The Jaguars won the 3rd quarter 12-7 to extend their lead to 51-34 at the end of three.

The Gators won the 4th quarter 14-8.

Kennedie Ott and Emma Heller each had 9 points for the Gators, while Lindsey Kneifl scored 8.

Valiant effort from Wisner-Pilger.

The Gators end the season at 8-14.

I thought Wisner-Pilger improved from last year to this year and did a lot of nice things this season.

The Gators say goodbye to Macy Stuhr and Tymarie Ott.

Wisner-Pilger has a lot coming back, including Kennedie Ott, Adi Meyer, Kneifl, Cameryn Bellar, Heller, and Maggie Schweers.

The Gators will definitely miss their two departing seniors, but have to be excited about next year given who they all have returning.

Wisner-Pilger has to work extremely hard this offseason and improve in all aspects of the game.

The Gators have to pour out blood, sweat, and tears over the summer and be ready to take aim at things next season.

Stanton Boys fall to Howells-Dodge in Sub-Districts

 

The Stanton Boys lost 61-44 to Howells-Dodge in the D1-3 Sub-District Semifinals at Humphrey Tuesday night.

Howells-Dodge went up 13-8 after one on the Mustangs before outscoring Stanton 23-11 in the 2nd quarter to take a 36-19 lead into the locker room.

Both teams scored 17 points in the 3rd quarter, and the Jaguars led 53-36 at the end of three.

Both teams scored 8 points in the 4th quarter.

Valiant effort from the Mustangs. The loss doesn't look so bad after the Jaguars upset Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family in the Sub-District Final.

Stanton ends the season at 6-16.

The Mustangs say goodbye to Brennan Wragge, Matthew Reese, Mason Bruggeman, and Ian Schulzkump.

Key returners include Adam Arens, Abe Larson, Parker Krusemark, Kam Dusatko, Joe Butterfield, Brayan Acuna, Owen Vogel, and Thomas Cunningham.

There were some bright spots for Stanton this year, including the win over the Wolfpack in the regular season finale.

Definitely something to build off of heading into next year.

The Seniors will be sorely missed without a doubt, but with many Seniors-to-be returning next season Stanton should be a force to be reckoned with for sure.

The Mustangs need a good offseason of growth and improvement, and must work hard.

Tri County Northeast Boys drop regular season finale to Stanton, beat Omaha Nation, lose to BRLD in Sub-Districts; Girls fall to Plainview in Sub-Districts

 

The Tri County Northeast Boys lost 48-47 at home to Stanton in Friday night's regular season finale before winning 67-46 over Omaha Nation in the C2-4 Sub-District Play-In Game at Lyons Monday night only to fall 68-40 to BRLD in the C2-4 Sub-District Semifinals at Lyons Tuesday night.

The Wolfpack led the Mustangs 10-9 after one, and outscored Stanton 17-10 in the 2nd quarter to take a 27-19 lead into the locker room.

The Mustangs outscored Tri County Northeast 15-6 in the 3rd quarter to pull ahead 34-33 at the end of three.

Both teams scored 14 4th quarter points.

Nate Oswald led the way with 13 points while Steven Sullivan notched 11 points and 7 rebounds. Mason Hall added 8 points while Reed Hingst totaled 7.

The Chiefs led the Wolfpack 13-11 after one. Tri County Northeast outscored Omaha Nation 19-9 in the 2nd quarter to take a 30-22 lead into the locker room.

The Wolfpack outscored the Chiefs 26-11 in the 3rd quarter to increase their lead to 56-33 at the end of three.

Omaha Nation won the 4th quarter 13-11.

Kobe Kumm finished with 16 points while Oswald notched 11 points and 9 rebounds. Hall added 9 points while Sullivan and Hingst totaled 8 apiece. Josh Olesen registered 7 points.

The Wolverines went up 29-9 on the Wolfpack at the end of one. Both teams scored 10 points in the 2nd quarter, and BRLD led 39-19 at halftime.

BRLD won the 3rd quarter 19-16 to go up 58-35 at the end of three.

The Wolverines doubled up Tri County Northeast 10-5 in the 4th quarter.

The Wolfpack ends the season at 12-11.

Good season for Tri County Northeast with it being the first year of the Co-op and everything.

The Wolfpack did some nice things this season and picked up some quality wins.

Tri County Northeast says goodbye to Hall, Hingst, Kumm, Sullivan, Ryan Kinnaman, and Anthony Isom.

Some very talented seniors lost for sure.

Key returners for next year include Garrett Blanke, Olesen, Oswald, and Brock Mackling.

A lot of seniors to be next year that should make a huge impact I would think.

A lot of quality players and kids lost to graduation that won't be easy to replace though.

That's why it's important for the Wolfpack to really get after it this offseason.

The Tri County Northeast Girls saw their season come to an end in the D1-3 Sub-District Semifinals at Humphrey last Tuesday night as the Wolfpack fell 53-43 to Plainview.

Both teams scored 10 points in the 1st quarter. Plainview won the 2nd quarter 7-2 to go up 17-12 at halftime.

The Pirates outscored Tri County Northeast 19-11 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 36-23 at the end of three.

The Wolfpack won the 4th quarter 20-17.

Jordyn Carr had a double-double of 29 points and 11 rebounds while Carly Dickens notched 7 points.

Tri County Northeast ends their season at 7-12.

Carr finished with a 19 points per game average this year while Rhyanne Mackling averaged 9 points a contest.

Brynn Schock led the way in rebounds with 152 on the season. Carr had 114 while Alli Jackson totaled 113.

Key losses include Dickens, Jackson, and Taylor Boyle.

These three Seniors will definitely be missed, but the Wolfpack has to be really excited about next season.

Key returners include Mackling, Brianna Bousquet, Jazmin De LaTorre, Katie Utech, Carr, and Schock.

It should be an exciting season next year for Tri County Northeast given who all returns.

The Wolfpack has to work hard and must stay hungry this offseason.

Pender Boys beat St. Edward in Sub-Districts; Girls fall to BRLD in Sub-District Final

 

The Pender Boys won 57-32 over St. Edward in the D2-4 Sub-District Semifinals from Humphrey St. Francis Tuesday night.

The Pendragons led the Beavers 17-11 after one, and won the 2nd quarter 10-6 to take a 27-17 lead into the locker room.

Pender outscored St. Ed 16-7 in the 3rd quarter to go up 43-24 at the end of three.

The Pendragons outscored the Beavers 14-8 in the 4th quarter.

Solid win for Pender.

The Pendragons (3-19) take on Humphrey St. Francis (18-4) in the D2-4 Sub-District Final at Humphrey St. Francis Thursday night.

The Flyers rolled over Winside 71-23 in Tuesday night's other Semifinal.

Pender has to come into this one believing they can win.

It may seem like a daunting task to beat St. Francis on their home floor in a postseason game, but nothing is impossible.

The Pendragons have to dream big and go in there and try and shock the World.

Pender has nothing to lose, and should simply go out there and give it all they got and see what happens.

The Pendragons have to play as if there is no tomorrow because hey if they lose then the season is over.

It has been a tough year for Pender, yet here they are playing for a Sub-District Title.

The Pendragons have to go out there and play at a Championship type level come Thursday night.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

The Pender Girls saw their season come to an end Thursday night as the Pendragons fell 47-39 to BRLD in the C2-4 Sub-District Final at Bancroft-Rosalie Thursday night.

The Pendragons led 10-8 after one before the Wolverines won the 2nd quarter 12-7 to take a 20-17 lead into the locker room.

BRLD won the 3rd quarter 12-8 to go up 32-25 at the end of three.

The Wolverines won the 4th quarter 15-14.

Pender almost qualified for Sub-State, but came up just a little short of having a chance to make a return trip to State.

The Pendragons' season ends at 16-8.

Of course who can forget Pender's wins over North Bend Central, Wynot, and Hartington Cedar Catholic this season.

Three wins over just amazing and incredible tradition rich basketball programs.

The Pendragons say goodbye to Zoey Lehmkuhl, Ashley Ostrand, Carson Miller, Skyler Prokop, and Dawson Anderson.

Key returners include Caitlyn Heise, Reese Kneifl, Claire Felber, and Alyssa Geisert.

Some great players lost to graduation, but at the same time Pender has to be excited about the future.

Ostrand is a big loss and is headed to UNO for Track so I wish her the best of luck doing that sport for the Mavericks.

As far as next year's team goes though the Pendragons must get to work as quickly and often as possible to prepare themselves for next season.

Of course most of these Girls are probably involved in track so they should enjoy that season first, but be ready to hoop it up as soon as the Summer rolls around.

BRLD Boys win over Pender in regular season finale, beat Tri County Northeast in Sub-Districts; Girls defeat Pender in Sub-District Final

 

The BRLD Boys won 77-30 at home over Pender in Friday night's regular season finale before winning 68-40 at home over Tri County Northeast in the C2-4 Sub-District Semifinals Tuesday night.

The Wolverines led the Pendragons 24-10 after one. BRLD outscored Pender 21-11 in the 2nd quarter to take a 45-21 lead into the locker room.

The Wolverines tripled up the Pendragons 18-6 in the 3rd quarter to go up 61-27 at the end of three.

BRLD outscored Pender 16-3 in the 4th quarter.

Dylan Beutler led the way with 26 points while Micah Henschen added 9. Lucas Vogt totaled 8 points and 9 assists while Derek Petersen notched 7 points.

The Wolverines went up 29-9 on the Wolfpack at the end of one. Both teams scored 10 points in the 2nd quarter, and BRLD led 39-19 at halftime.

BRLD won the 3rd quarter 19-16 to go up 58-35 at the end of three.

The Wolverines doubled up Tri County Northeast 10-5 in the 4th quarter.

Vogt had a double-double of 17 points and 10 assists while Toriano Bohannon Jr. added 16 points. Beutler was also in double figures with 15 while Zach Hegge pitched in 8 points.

Great games and performances by BRLD.

The Wolverines (16-4) take on Wakefield (20-4) in the C2-4 Sub-District Final from Lyons Thursday night.

The Trojans won 64-43 over Ponca in Tuesday night's other Semifinal.

Wakefield beat BRLD 59-55 at home on January 19th.

However, the Wolverines were without the services of Vogt, who was out with an ankle injury.

This time BRLD is at full strength.

That and the Wolverines are at home.

Those two things along with the fact that BRLD guarantees themselves a trip to Sub-State with a win is why I look for the Wolverines to win come Thursday night.

Both of these teams could potentially make Sub-State, but it's more iffy for Wakefield than it is BRLD.

Either way it should be a great atmosphere for some championship level and type basketball come Thursday night.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Lyons.

The BRLD Girls won 47-39 at home over Pender in the C2-4 Sub-District Final Thursday night.

The Pendragons led 10-8 after one before the Wolverines won the 2nd quarter 12-7 to take a 20-17 lead into the locker room.

BRLD won the 3rd quarter 12-8 to go up 32-25 at the end of three.

The Wolverines won the 4th quarter 15-14.

Jordan Snyder led the way with 19 points and 9 rebounds while Cargan Tietz added 8 points. Isabel Freemont chipped in 7 points while Alyssa Buchholz notched 8 rebounds.

Really good win for BRLD.

The Wolverines (19-4) battle North Central (20-4) in the C2-7 Sub-State Final from Battle Creek Friday night.

The Knights fell 56-24 to Crofton in the C2-5 Sub-District Final at Crofton Thursday night.

North Central beat Ponca 40-35 in last Tuesday's Semifinals.

BRLD beat the Indians 63-53 at home on January 16th.

I look for the Wolverines to win a super close, tight game come Friday night.

BRLD is battle tested and made state last year, and has played great basketball down the stretch.

The Wolverines have to go out there and play their game and play loose and execute.

Things could be decided by a possession or two so BRLD has to value and maximize each possession.

The Wolverines simply have to want it more than the Knights.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Battle Creek.

Howells-Dodge Boys beat Lutheran High Northeast in regular season finale, top Stanton in Sub-Districts; Girls beat Wisner-Pilger, fall to GACC in Sub-Districts

 

The Howells-Dodge Boys won 50-43 at home over Lutheran High Northeast in Friday night's regular season finale before downing Stanton 61-44 in the D1-3 Sub-District Semifinals from Humphrey Tuesday night.

The Eagles jumped out to a 17-16 lead after one. Both teams put 8 2nd quarter points, and LHNE led 25-24 at halftime.

Both teams scored 12 points in the 3rd quarter, and the Eagles maintained a 37-36 lead at the end of three.

The Jaguars outscored LHNE 14-6 in the 4th quarter to pull out the come from behind win.

Howells-Dodge went up 13-8 after one on the Mustangs before outscoring Stanton 23-11 in the 2nd quarter to take a 36-19 lead into the locker room.

Both teams scored 17 points in the 3rd quarter, and the Jaguars led 53-36 at the end of three.

Both teams scored 8 points in the 4th quarter.

Two nice wins for Howells-Dodge.

The Jaguars (16-8) take on Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family (19-4) in the D1-3 Sub-District Final at Humphrey Thursday night.

The Bulldogs won 73-15 over Cedar Bluffs in Tuesday night's Sub-District Semifinals.

These two teams met on December 10th at H/LHF with the Bulldogs winning 46-32.

Both teams are pretty much headed to Sub-State either way regardless of how this one turns out.

This game is a good test and measuring stick for Howells-Dodge though, and will give them an idea of what they figure to see beyond Thursday night.

The Jaguars have played a super tough schedule that prepares them very well for these type of games and postseason runs.

I think Howells-Dodge is in the midst of another postseason run and possible trip to the State Tournament.

The Jaguars have to come out and play a good game and at the very least take H/LHF down to the wire and to the brink.

Win or at the very least lose a close game and I think you are set for Sub-State if you are Howells-Dodge.

The Howells-Dodge Girls won 59-48 over Wisner-Pilger in the C2-3 Sub-District Semifinals from GACC Tuesday night before falling 67-26 to the host Bluejays in Thursday night's Sub-District Final.

Both the Jaguars and Gators scored 13 points in the 1st quarter. Howells-Dodge outscored Wisner-Pilger 26-14 in the 2nd quarter to take a 39-27 lead into the locker room.

The Jaguars won the 3rd quarter 12-7 to extend their lead to 51-34 at the end of three.

The Gators won the 4th quarter 14-8.

Jaedyn Ratzlaff had 21 points for the Jaguars, with Abbey Pieper scoring 14 and Cassie Pieper adding 10.

The Bluejays held an 18-4 lead at the end of one, and doubled up the Jaguars 16-8 in the 2nd quarter to take a 34-12 lead into the locker room.

Howells-Dodge won the 3rd quarter 13-11 to make it a 45-25 game at the end of three.

GACC outscored the Jaguars 22-1 in the 4th quarter.

Ratzlaff led the way with 12 points.

Howells-Dodge ends the year at 11-13.

Ratzlaff led the team in scoring this year at 11 points a game while Janessa Schmidt had 8 points a game.

Schmidt also had 130 rebounds while Ratzlaff finished with 101.

The Jaguars say goodbye to Cassie Pieper, Riley Pokorny, and Schmidt.

Those three seniors will really be missed, but everyone else returns.

Key returners include Abbey Pieper, Morgan Gall, Ratzlaff, Brooklyn Macholan, Lilly Praest, Blair Fiala, Natalie Pieper, Carly Bayer, and Sasha Perrin.

One of Howells-Dodge's strengths this past year was depth, and it appears that will be a strength next year as well.

Head Coach Scott Polacek picking up his 400th career win this past year was definitely a great moment from this past season.

With that said, the Jaguars have to move forward and improve in the offseason and gear themselves up for another campaign next year.

GACC Boys go 1-2 in final 3 games of season; Girls win over Howells-Dodge in Sub-District Final

 

The GACC Boys fell 62-57 at Winnebago in Friday night's regular season finale before winning 50-48 over Tekamah-Herman in the C2-3 Sub-District Play-In Game aired on 107.9 the Bull Monday night, only to fall 55-30 to Oakland-Craig in Tuesday night's Sub-District Semifinals on the Knights' home court.

The Bluejays led the Indians 15-11 after one before Winnebago outscored GACC 22-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 33-22 lead into the locker room.

The Indians won the 3rd quarter 14-12 to go up 47-34 at the end of three.

The Bluejays outscored Winnebago 23-15 in the 4th quarter.

GACC took a 10-8 lead on the Tigers after the first quarter, and went on to lead 20-16 at halftime.

Tekamah-Herman came out strong in the second half, and the Tigers outscored the Bluejays 15-11 in the third quarter. The game was tied 31-31 after three periods.

Tough end to the season for the Bluejays.

GACC ends their year at 5-20.

I don't know if a 5-20 season is what the Bluejays had in mind at the beginning of the year.

The season definitely didn't live up to the standards and expectations of the program.

There's a lot of work to do in the offseason if GACC is to get back to their dominant ways.

Key losses include Brendan Rief, Ulrich, Tobias Steffensmeier, and Cody Steffen.

These seniors will be missed without a doubt given how much they meant to GACC Boys Basketball these past four years.

Notable returners include Niewohner, Duhsmann, Michael Cohee, and Reese Schlecht.

I believe there is quite a bit returning for the Bluejays and a lot to work with next year, but GACC has to step things up.

The Bluejays can definitely do that though and get back to their winning and dominant ways.

The GACC Girls downed Howells-Dodge 67-26 in the C2-3 Sub-District Final at home Thursday night.

The Bluejays held an 18-4 lead at the end of one, and doubled up the Jaguars 16-8 in the 2nd quarter to take a 34-12 lead into the locker room.

Howells-Dodge won the 3rd quarter 13-11 to make it a 45-25 game at the end of three.

GACC outscored the Jaguars 22-1 in the 4th quarter.

Brandi Doernemann led the way with 15 points while Taylor Timmerman notched 9. Livia Hunke added 8 while Sophia Hass totaled 7.

Great and dominant win for the Bluejays.

GACC (22-3) hosts Norfolk Catholic (12-11) in the C2-3 Sub-State Final Friday night.

The Knights upset Clarkson/Leigh 45-27 in the C2-6 Sub-District Final from Clarkson Thursday night.

Clarkson/Leigh if you recall upset GACC at Sub-State last year.

The Bluejays have to correct last year's misfortune and go out there and beat the Knights Friday night.

Norfolk Catholic is probably licking their chops right about now.

After all, GACC is without Brenna Rief, who blew out her knee in practice the day before the Howells-Dodge game.

That simply means other players will have to step up the way they did against the Jaguars.

The Bluejays have plenty of other Superstars, and the last thing GACC can afford to do is let Norfolk Catholic come in and beat them on their home court to go to State.

That's something the Bluejays simply cannot let happen.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in West Point.

The Clarkson/Leigh Boys defeated Wisner-Pilger 52-37 in the C2-3 Sub-District Semifinals from Oakland-Craig Tuesday night.

The Patriots led 11-9 after one, and outscored the Gators 15-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 26-16 lead into the locker room.

Clarkson/Leigh won the 3rd quarter 14-11 to go up 40-27 at the end of three.

The Patriots won the 4th quarter 12-10.

Carter Hanel had a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds while Kyle Kasik and Trevor Zulkoski notched 10 points apiece.

Nice win for Clarkson/Leigh.

The Patriots (13-9) take on Oakland-Craig (16-7) in the C2-3 Sub-District Final in action that will be aired on 107.9 the Bull Thursday night.

The Knights won 55-30 at home over GACC in Tuesday night's Semifinals.

The Clarkson/Leigh Girls were upset 45-27 by Norfolk Catholic in the C2-6 Sub-District Final from Clarkson Thursday night.

The Knights doubled up the Patriots 10-5 in the 1st quarter, and outscored Clarkson/Leigh 15-8 in the 2nd quarter to take a 25-13 lead into the locker room.

Norfolk Catholic blanked the Patriots 8-0 in the 3rd quarter to go up 33-13 at the end of three.

Clarkson/Leigh won the 4th quarter 14-12.

Alissa Kasik led all scorers with 16 points.

Kind of a bit of a surprising loss for the Patriots.

Clarkson/Leigh (20-2) battles Bridgeport (22-3) in the C2-5 Sub-State Final from Lexington Friday night in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.

The Bulldogs beat Gordon-Rushville 74-56 at home in the C2-12 Sub-District Final Thursday night.

This game is tough to gauge given multiple factors.

The Patriots are a small C-2 team yet play a lot of tough opponents.

Bridgeport is a large C-2 School and has been C-1 in the past I believe.

You have to figure Clarkson/Leigh has seen tougher competition, yet it could be argued the Bulldogs have been more dominant when you take into account margin of victory and such.

I honestly don't know a lot about Bridgeport, but it should be a good game I would think.

I think the Patriots have a good shot to win, but Clarkson/Leigh has to step things up and play better than they did against Norfolk Catholic and in the East Husker Conference Tournament against Oakland-Craig.

This one could go either way I think it honestly depends what kind of game both teams play.

The Patriots upset GACC in Sub-State last year so we'll see if Clarkson/Leigh can go out to South Central Nebraska and come home with another District Championship.

Oakland-Craig Boys win Sub-District Opener over GACC

 

The Oakland-Craig Boys won 55-30 over GACC at home in Tuesday night's C2-3 Sub-District Semifinals.

The Knights led 7-2 after one, and outscored the Bluejays 18-10 in the 2nd quarter to take a 25-12 lead into the locker room.

Oakland-Craig outscored GACC 17-10 in the 3rd quarter to go up 42-22 at the end of three.

The Knights won the 4th quarter 13-8.

Gunnar Ray had a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds while Carson Thomsen had 9 points. Coulter Thiele notched 8 points and 7 rebounds while Jaron Meyer and Caden Nelson added 7 points apiece. Grady Gatewood posted 7 rebounds.

Really nice job by Oakland-Craig of responding following the late season struggles they were having.

The Patriots won 52-37 over Wisner-Pilger in the other semifinal on Tuesday.

I would say both teams are better now than they were then with the Patriots improving the most.

I think Thursday night's game will be close, but I look for the Knights to pull out a close game, especially since they are at home.

It should be a good game regardless of how it turns out though.

It's do or die for the Knights in this one, it's win or go home.

That simply means Oakland-Craig has to come through in the clutch.

Easier said than done though as Clarkson/Leigh's season is on the line as well.

North Bend Central Boys beat Fort Calhoun in regular season finale, down Aquinas in Sub-Districts; Girls beat West Point-Beemer in Sub-District Final

 

The North Bend Central Boys won 60-44 at Fort Calhoun in Friday night's regular season finale before knocking off David City Aquinas 60-49 in the C1-5 Sub-District Semifinals from Wahoo Tuesday night.

The Tigers led the Pioneers 15-10 after one, and outscored Fort Calhoun 17-9 in the 2nd quarter to take a 32-19 lead into the locker room.

NBC won the 3rd quarter 17-12 to go up 49-31 at the end of three.

The Pioneers won the 4th quarter 13-11.

Really nice job by the Tigers of not slipping up against the Monarchs this year.

North Bend Central (18-4) battles Wahoo (17-6) in the C1-5 Sub-District Final from Wahoo Thursday night.

The Warriors defeated crosstown rival Bishop Neumann 68-49 in Tuesday night's Semifinal Round.

Wahoo is an excellent ball club and will be difficult to beat, especially on their home floor.

What makes them so tough is they play a lot of Class B Schools that are good.

It appears as if the Tigers stand a good chance to make Sub-State, win or lose.

North Bend Central has to play with a sense of purpose and urgency though and play as if their season is on the line in this one.

It might not be Thursday night, but it will be this weekend or early next week should they win or get into Sub-State with a Wildcard.

The Tigers have to create that State Feeling and Atmosphere, and go out there and play Championship Basketball.

North Bend Central has to be on a revenge tour, and make up for not qualifying for State last year.

What better way to continue their run than by beating the Warriors on their home court on Thursday.

In High School Basketball Action aired on 107.9 the Bull Thursday night, North Bend Central defeated West Point-Beemer 46-38 in the Girls C1-5 Sub-District Final from North Bend.

The Tigers got out to a 13-11 lead at the end of one, and outscored the Cadets 11-5 in the 2nd quarter to take a 24-16 lead into the locker room.

NBC won the 3rd quarter 8-6 to go up 32-22 at the end of three.

West Point-Beemer won the 4th quarter 16-14.

Sydney Emanuel had a team-high 14 points to lead the Tigers while Kaitlyn Emanuel and Ally Pojar were also in double figures with 11 and 10, respectively. Kaitlyn Emanuel also had 9 rebounds.

North Bend Central improves to 20-3 on the season while West Point-Beemer falls to 19-5.

The two teams will rematch in Sub-State at North Bend on Friday at 6:00 p.m. That game will be broadcast on the Bull.

The quadruple rubber match if you may.

The 4th meeting between the two teams.

The Tigers have won 2 out of 3 so far, and look to make it 3 out of 4.

North Bend Central is at home in this one too, and that makes the Tigers extra tough.

That and it's one game to go to State and you know North Bend Central will look to defend their home floor.

The Tigers have to do what they did last time and control pace of the game and take West Point-Beemer's role players out of the equation.

It's probably going to be tougher this time around for North Bend Central to win, but it can definitely be done.

With that said, the Tigers have to expect to win and have to play with a will to win and have to play as if there is no tomorrow.

West Point-Beemer Boys drop regular season finale to Fremont Bergan; Girls fall to North Bend Central in Sub-District Final

 

The West Point-Beemer Boys fell 44-40 at Fremont Bergan in Friday night's regular season finale.

The Cadets (9-13) take on Wayne (19-5) in the C1-7 Sub-District Semifinals from Wayne High Tuesday night in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.

The Blue Devils lost 47-44 at Pierce in Friday night's regular season finale.

Wayne edged West Point-Beemer 33-30 at home on Thursday, January 28th.

The two teams had a really close battle in Sub-Districts last year, and I expect more of the same this year.

Can the Cadets get over the hump and will the 3rd time be the charm for West Point-Beemer?

It very well could be.

The Cadets have to go out there and play with nothing to lose.

West Point-Beemer has to go out there and play well from start to finish and find a way to get over the hump in this one.

Everyone has to step up and play big and want this one really bad.

This time it really is do or die for the Cadets.

West Point-Beemer has to go in there and have the drive, will, determination, toughness, grit, tenacity, and fire to go into North Bend and win and go to the State Tournament.

This has to be arguably one of the bigger Sub-State Finals in recent history given the caliber these two teams are.

It's round 4 between the Cadets and Tigers this season with North Bend Central leading the series 2-1.

West Point-Beemer hopes it's their turn to win this time around.

The Cadets have to find a way to come through in the clutch and make big plays down the stretch.

West Point-Beemer can't afford to fall behind the way they did on Thursday.

The Cadets have to get out in front and battle from start to finish with 100% effort.

This is what these Senior girls have worked for the last 4 years and other years growing up.

The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys lost 57-49 at home to Yutan in Friday night's regular season finale aired on 107.9 the Bull.

The Chieftains led the Raiders 15-11 after one before LVSS won the 2nd quarter 14-10 to tie the game at 25 at halftime.

Yutan won the 3rd quarter 12-9 to go up 37-34 at the end of three.

The Chieftains won the 4th quarter 20-15.

The Raiders just weren't able to get over the hump in this one.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder (15-5) takes on Winnebago (14-8) in the C1-7 Sub-District Semifinals from Wayne Tuesday night in action that will be aired on the Bull.

The Indians won 62-57 at home over GACC in Friday night's regular season finale.

This figures to be a very close, interesting, and compelling game for sure.

Bago has been on a terror lately, winning their last 9 games in a row and 10 out of their last 11.

The Indians are red hot, and not a team anyone wants to face right now I'm afraid.

At the same time, this is the hand the Raiders have been dealt, and they must simply adapt and overcome.

It's win or go home for LVSS in this one.

It's this Senior Class's last chance to breakthrough and get the Raiders to State for the first time in School History.

Winnebago Boys end regular season with win over GACC; Girls beat Pierce in Sub-District Final

 

The Winnebago Boys won 62-57 at home over GACC Friday night to end the regular season.

The Bluejays led the Indians 15-11 after one before Winnebago outscored GACC 22-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 33-22 lead into the locker room.

The Indians won the 3rd quarter 14-12 to go up 47-34 at the end of three.

The Bluejays outscored Winnebago 23-15 in the 4th quarter.

Good way to cap off the regular season for the Indians.

Winnebago (14-8) takes on Logan View/Scribner-Snyder (15-5) in the C1-7 Sub-District Semifinals from Wayne High Tuesday night in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.

The Raiders lost 57-49 at home to Yutan Friday night in their regular season finale aired on the Bull.

This figures to be a very good and highly entertaining ball game.

Bago is playing great basketball right now, but LVSS is a Senior Laden team.

This figures to be an interesting one for sure.

I think the Indians could very well win given the way they have played down the stretch.

It should be a close and tightly and hotly contested ball game between the two teams.

I feel the team that makes the most plays down the stretch and avoids the big, costly turnover will find a way to win the game.

The Winnebago Girls defeated Pierce 33-23 in the C1-6 Sub-District Final at Pierce Thursday night.

The Bluejays got out to a 12-7 lead after one before the Indians won the 2nd quarter 11-7 to make it a 19-18 game at halftime.

Bago clamped down defensively in the 2nd half, outscoring Pierce 7-2 in the 3rd quarter to pull in front 25-21 at the end of three before quadrupling up the Bluejays 8-2 in the 4th quarter.

Keisha Snyder had a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds while Natasha Deal splashed in 12 points.

Great win for the Indians, who are headed to Sub-State!

Winnebago (14-10) takes on Malcolm (21-1) in the C1-1 Sub-State Final from Malcolm Friday night.

The Clippers were upset 37-33 in Sub-Districts by Lincoln Christian on Tuesday.

I think the Indians could very well hand Malcolm another loss and qualify for State.

Making State would be a huge deal, and hopefully Winnebago can find their way down to Lincoln after Friday night's game is all said and done.

Snyder, Deal, Maddy Cleveland, and others have to come up big for the Indians.

It all comes down to one game to make State.

Winnebago did a great job winning their Sub-District now we'll see if the Indians can go on the road and win again come Friday night.

The train doesn't stop here for Bago, the Indians have to turn in a great and successful performance come Friday night.

Stanton Boys upset Tri County Northeast; Girls beat Madison, lose to Clarkson/Leigh in Sub-Districts

 

The Stanton Boys upset Tri County Northeast 48-47 on the road Friday night.

Great win for the Mustangs to end the regular season.

Stanton (6-15) battles Howells-Dodge (15-8) in the D1-3 Sub-District Semifinals at Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family Tuesday night.

The Jaguars won 50-43 at home over Lutheran High Northeast Friday night.

Howells-Dodge beat the Mustangs 71-28 in the season opener.

I think both teams are better since that time.

That and Stanton should have a sense of optimism following their win over the Wolfpack.

The Jaguars will be tough, but it's Sub-Districts and anything can happen.

The Mustangs have to go out there and give it all they got and play hard until the very end.

The Stanton Girls won 52-26 over Madison in the C2-6 Sub-District Play-In Game at Clarkson Monday night before falling 41-16 to Clarkson/Leigh in Tuesday night's Semifinal Round.

The Mustangs blanked the Dragons 13-0 in the 1st quarter, and outscored Madison 10-2 in the 2nd quarter to take a 23-2 lead into the locker room.

Stanton won the 3rd quarter 13-9 to go up 36-11 at the end of three.

The Mustangs won the 4th quarter 16-15.

Arynn Spence and Sylvia Cunningham registered 8 points apiece while Savannah Siebrandt notched 7.

The Patriots led 10-6 after one, and blanked the Mustangs 5-0 in the 2nd quarter to take a 15-6 lead into the locker room.

Clarkson/Leigh outscored Stanton 15-6 in the 3rd quarter to go up 30-12 at the end of three.

The Patriots outscored the Mustangs 11-4 in the 4th quarter.

Not an easy end to the season for Stanton.

The Mustangs end the year at 8-16.

I feel like there were a lot of bright spots for Stanton this year.

The Mustangs struggled at times too, but there are definitely things to build off of heading into next year.

Stanton says goodbye to Ellie Locke, Bridgett Jensen, Madison Wragge, and Lindsey Hoehne.

The Mustangs bring back quite a bit of talent in Spence, Cunningham, Olivia Cunningham, Siebrandt, and Kinley Pohlman.

I look for Stanton to build off the things they did this year and comeback even stronger next year.

I felt like the Mustangs improved from last year to this year and look for even more improvement next season.

Clarkson/Leigh Boys beat David City in regular season finale

 

The Clarkson/Leigh Boys wrapped up the regular season with a 61-38 win at home over David City Friday night.

The Patriots led 17-14 after one, and outscored the Scouts 15-8 in the 2nd quarter to take a 32-22 lead into the locker room.

Clarkson/Leigh outscored David City 20-9 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 52-31 at the end of three.

The Patriots won the 4th quarter 9-7.

Good way for Clarkson/Leigh to end the regular season.

The Patriots (12-9) takes on Wisner-Pilger (8-13) in the C2-3 Sub-District Semifinals from Oakland-Craig Tuesday night.

The Gators rounded out the regular season with a 57-35 home win over Madison Friday night.

The two teams did not meet in the regular season as the game was cancelled.

That makes things interesting for sure heading into this one.

I feel like Clarkson/Leigh stands a good chance to win, but you never know.

Wisner-Pilger is a tough team and will come to play.

I guess all I will say is may the best team win.

Pender Boys drop regular season finale to BRLD

 

The Pender Boys lost 77-30 at BRLD in Friday night's regular season finale.

The Wolverines led the Pendragons 24-10 after one. BRLD outscored Pender 21-11 in the 2nd quarter to take a 45-21 lead into the locker room.

The Wolverines tripled up the Pendragons 18-6 in the 3rd quarter to go up 61-27 at the end of three.

BRLD outscored Pender 16-3 in the 4th quarter.

The Pendragons (2-19) take on St. Edward (6-12) in the D2-4 Sub-District Semifinals from Humphrey St. Francis Tuesday night.

The Beavers lost 52-35 at home to Spalding Academy Friday night.

This figures to be a good, close, and highly competitive ball game.

Both of these teams are pretty equal in my mind.

I think it's important for Pender to win just for the simple fact they would be able to play the Flyers in the Sub-District Final in all likelihood.

And you never know what could happen in that.

 

Plus by making it that far the Pendragons would see what Championship Basketball is like at the very least.

Tuesday night's game is scheduled to tip-off at 7:30 p.m. in Humphrey.

Oakland-Craig Boys and Girls lose to West Point-Beemer

 

The Oakland-Craig Boys fell 46-26 at home to West Point-Beemer last Friday night.

The Cadets led 10-6 after one, and won the 2nd quarter 10-6 to take a 20-12 lead into the locker room.

West Point-Beemer won the 3rd quarter 7-6 to go up 27-18 at the end of three.

The Cadets outscored the Knights 19-8 in the 4th quarter.

Gunnar Ray had 11 points to lead the way while Jaron Meyer notched 7.

I must say I was surprised by Oakland-Craig's shooting woes in this one.

The Knights (15-7) face either GACC or Tekamah-Herman in the C2-3 Sub-District Semifinals at home Tuesday night.

Whoever Oakland-Craig plays figures to give the Knights a tussle and all they can want.

The Knights have stumbled down the stretch, losing 5 out of their last 6 regular season games.

Oakland-Craig has to figure things out by Tuesday again or their season will be over.

The Knights are unlikely to receive a wildcard to Sub-State should they not win their Sub-District so Oakland-Craig has to come together and regroup and find a way to correct things this postseason.

Oakland-Craig can still get to Sub-State and make it down to Lincoln, they just have to regroup and find a way to win on Tuesday and then again on Thursday if they make it that far.

The Knights stand the best chance of any of these teams to win the Sub-District, and I think they could definitely win it.

Tuesday's game will tip-off at 6:00 p.m.

The Oakland-Craig Girls fell 52-32 at home to West Point-Beemer in the regular season finale at home last Friday night before losing 50-19 to the Cadets in the C1-5 Sub-District Semifinals at North Bend Central Tuesday night.

In the first matchup, West Point-Beemer got out to a 15-7 lead at the end of the 1st quarter, and tripled up the Knights 15-5 in the 2nd quarter to take a 30-12 lead into the locker room.

O-C won the 3rd quarter 14-12 to make it a 42-26 game at the end of three.

The Cadets won the 4th quarter 10-6.

Chaney Nelson had 14 points and 8 rebounds while Makenna Pearson totaled 9 points. Shea Johnson added 10 rebounds.

In the second matchup, the Cadets got out to a 10-6 lead after one, and outscored the Knights 17-4 in the 2nd quarter to take a 23-14 lead into the locker room.

West Point-Beemer outscored Oakland-Craig 20-2 in the 3rd quarter to go up 43-16 at the end of three.

The Cadets won the 4th quarter 7-3.

Tough end to the year for the Knights.

Oakland-Craig's season ends at 11-12.

It was definitely a different year for the Knights and not what they have been accustomed to in recent years.

The upset win over Clarkson/Leigh had to be the highlight of the season though.

Just because Oakland-Craig struggled this year doesn't mean they won't be back.

The Knights bring back Nelson, Sydney Guzinski, Laryn Johnson, Sadie Nelson, and Shea Johnson.

Edie Anderson and Pearson are lost to graduation.

Hopefully Oakland-Craig can get back to what they were prior to this year.

Tekamah-Herman Boys and Girls beat Madison; Girls fall to GACC in Sub-Districts

 

The Tekamah-Herman Boys won 74-42 at Madison Friday night.

The Tigers got out to a 20-9 lead at the end of one before winning the 2nd quarter 16-11 to take a 36-20 lead into the locker room.

Tekamah-Herman outscored the Dragons 22-14 in the 3rd quarter to go up 58-34 at the end of three.

The Tigers doubled up Madison 16-8 in the 4th quarter.

Jed Hoover led the way with 24 points while Brock Rogers totaled 16. Kaleb Quick registered 10 while Eldridge Jensen notched 8.

Solid win for Tekamah-Herman.

The Tigers (6-14) take on Omaha Brownell Talbot (9-11) on the road in Friday night's regular season finale.

The Raiders lost 71-48 at home to Conestoga Monday night.

Both teams played Whiting, IA, but Tekamah-Herman beat them by a larger margin.

I think based on that and strength of schedule the Tigers can win this.

Brownell Talbot has a better record, but Tekamah-Herman is battle tested.

The Tigers face GACC in Sub-Districts on Monday in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.

It would be a huge deal for Tekamah-Herman to beat a school and a program like GACC, and a win over Brownell Talbot Friday night would go a long ways in making that happen, in my opinion.

The Tekamah-Herman Girls won 44-4 at Madison Friday night before falling 84-33 to GACC in the C2-3 Sub-District Semifinals at GACC Tuesday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.

The Tigers blanked the Dragons 15-0 in the 1st quarter, and 5-0 in the 2nd quarter to take a 20-0 lead into the locker room.

Tekamah-Herman outscored Madison 16-2 in the 3rd quarter to go up 36-2 at the end of three.

The Tigers outscored the Dragons 8-2 in the 4th quarter.

The Bluejays led the Tigers 25-13 at the end of one, and outscored Tekamah-Herman 27-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 52-20 lead into the locker room.

GACC outscored Tekamah-Herman 21-10 in the 3rd quarter to go up 73-30 at the end of three.

The Bluejays outscored the Tigers 11-3 in the 4th quarter.

Halle Olson had 11 points for the Tigers.

Good win for Tekamah-Herman over the Dragons, but a tough loss to GACC.

The Tigers end their year at 4-18.

I thought Tekamah-Herman was competitive and did some nice things this year despite their record.

The Tigers say goodbye to Olsen, Maggie Sheets, and Leann Hawkins.

These three are big losses for Tekamah-Herman.

Key returners include Carly Freidel, Elena Jetensky, Kaitlyn Quick, Preslee Hansen, and Keira Pensyl.

The Tigers figure to be young next year.

Jetensky and Quick being seniors will really need to step into leadership roles and lead this team.

Tekamah-Herman has to have a good offseason.

Hopefully the Coronavirus Pandemic will have subsided by the time next season rolls around and things are back to normal.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys lose to BRLD on buzzer beater; Girls fall to Wolverines, drop Sub-District game to Arlington

 

The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys fell 44-41 at BRLD Friday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull as Elliot Nottlemann drained a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

The Wolverines led the Raiders 8-5 after one and won the 2nd quarter 15-11 to take a 23-16 lead into the locker room.

Both teams scored 7 points in the 3rd quarter, and the score was 30-23 at the end of three in favor of LVSS.

The Raiders won the 4th quarter 18-14.

Tough loss for LVSS.

The Chieftains won 71-55 at home over Malcolm last Thursday night.

Yutan beat LVSS 54-32 in the Nebraska Capitol Conference Tournament Championship Game on January 30th.

A tough row to hoe if you are the Raiders, but time is running out for Logan View/Scribner-Snyder.

The Raiders could really use the type of win that gets them over the hump and gives them a lot of momentum heading into the postseason.

I think LVSS needs to pick up a win in this one to prove to themselves that they can beat a top team.

The Raiders need something to give them and ignite a spark heading into postseason play.

The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Girls fell 59-22 at BRLD Friday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull before losing 39-26 to Arlington in the C1-5 Sub-District Play-In Game at North Bend Central Monday night.

The Wolverines blanked the Raiders 19-0 in the 1st quarter, and outscored LVSS 15-6 in the 2nd quarter to take a 34-6 lead into the locker room.

BRLD won the 3rd quarter 12-9 to go up 46-15 at the end of three.

The Wolverines outscored the Raiders 13-7 in the 4th quarter.

LVSS led the Eagles 8-6 after one. Arlington outscored the Raiders 11-5 in the 2nd quarter to take a 17-13 lead into the locker room.

The Eagles won the 3rd quarter 9-7 to go up 26-20 at the end of three.

Arlington outscored Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 13-6 in the 4th quarter.

Valerie Uehling had 12 points while Grace Schlueter notched 8 rebounds, and Sophia Vacha 7.

The Raiders end their season at 8-15 overall.

The season started off very strong for LVSS, who did some really nice things this year.

The Raiders say goodbye to Uehling and Josie Kahlandt.

These two had great careers and did a lot for and meant a lot to Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Girls Basketball.

Key returners include Maelee Beacom, Schlueter, Vacha, Cadynce Stockamp, Cailey Stout, and others.

I think the future is very bright for the Raiders, especially with Schlueter and Vacha coming back for 2 more years.

Hopefully the pandemic ends before next season rolls around and next year's season is normal.

West Point-Beemer Boys upset Oakland-Craig; Girls beat Knights twice

 

The West Point-Beemer Boys upset Oakland-Craig 46-26 on the road Friday night.

The Cadets led 10-6 after one, and won the 2nd quarter 10-6 to take a 20-12 lead into the locker room.

West Point-Beemer won the 3rd quarter 7-6 to go up 27-18 at the end of three.

The Cadets outscored the Knights 19-8 in the 4th quarter.

Great win for West Point-Beemer.

The Cadets (9-12) wrap up the regular season at Fremont Bergan (13-8) Friday night.

The Knights won 63-53 at home over GACC on Saturday.

I feel like West Point-Beemer can definitely get this one.

Sub-Districts are set, and the Cadets will face Wayne in the C1-7 Sub-District from Wayne in action that will be aired on 107.9 the Bull Tuesday night.

West Point-Beemer nearly upset the Blue Devils in the regular season, and I feel a win over Bergan could go a long ways in making an upset happen Tuesday night.

The Cadets have to go out there and play fearless and with nothing to lose Friday night.

Bergan is a tough place to play no doubt, but West Point-Beemer has to go in there and expect to do and compete well and win.

The Cadets should come in with quite a bit of confidence following Friday night's win as well.

I really think the defensive end of the floor is where the game will be won or lost like it was against Oakland-Craig.

The West Point-Beemer Girls picked up two wins over Oakland-Craig, one in the regular season finale in Oakland Friday night and the other in Sub-Districts at North Bend Central Tuesday night.

The Cadets beat the Knights 52-32 in round one and 50-19 in round two.

In the first matchup, West Point-Beemer got out to a 15-7 lead at the end of the 1st quarter, and tripled up the Knights 15-5 in the 2nd quarter to take a 30-12 lead into the locker room.

O-C won the 3rd quarter 14-12 to make it a 42-26 game at the end of three.

The Cadets won the 4th quarter 10-6.

Sidney Swanson led the way with 23 points while Reece Snodgrass totaled 12. Rachel Groth had 10 rebounds while Brooklyn Weddle and Emily Toelle notched 7 apiece.

In the second matchup, the Cadets got out to a 10-6 lead after one, and outscored the Knights 17-4 in the 2nd quarter to take a 23-14 lead into the locker room.

West Point-Beemer outscored Oakland-Craig 20-2 in the 3rd quarter to go up 43-16 at the end of three.

The Cadets won the 4th quarter 7-3.

Very dominant and resounding win for West Pointt-Beemer Tuesday night.

The Cadets (19-4) take on North Bend Central (19-3) in the C1-5 Sub-District Final from North Bend Thursday night in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.

The Tigers won 38-22 over Arlington in the other Sub-District Semifinal Tuesday night.

North Bend Central beat West Point-Beemer 63-38 at home back on December 10th before the Cadets upset the Tigers 57-46 in the East Husker Conference Tournament Semifinals less than two weeks ago.

This is the rubber match and for all the marbles.

West Point-Beemer could potentially still qualify for Sub-State with a loss, but the best way to ensure yourself a spot at Sub-State is to win your Sub-District.

Beating the defending State Champs on their home floor for a Sub-District Title won't be easy, but if the Cadets play the way they did on Tuesday then I think a win could very well be likely.

As far as I'm concerned this is do or die for West Point-Beemer.

Win or go home possibly.

The Cadets can't take the chance of getting a Wildcard to Sub-State should they lose. West Point-Beemer can't rely on that.

West Point-Beemer has to find a way to get the job done and win Thursday night.

North Bend Central Boys and Girls beat Howells-Dodge and Wayne; Girls down Arlington in Sub-Districts

 

The North Bend Central Boys won 83-67 at home over Howells-Dodge Thursday night before downing Wayne 54-47 at home Friday night.

The Tigers went up 22-12 after one on Howells-Dodge, and outscored the Jaguars 24-16 in the 2nd quarter to take a 46-28 lead into the locker room.

NBC won the 3rd quarter 19-15 to extend their lead to 65-43 at the end of three.

Howells-Dodge won the 4th quarter 24-18.

Two very good wins for the Tigers.

North Bend Central (16-4) takes on Fort Calhoun (8-11) on the road in Friday night's regular season finale.

The Pioneers won 76-50 at home over Tekamah-Herman Thursday night.

I look for the Tigers to close out the regular season strong and on a high note.

It appears that NBC is playing their best basketball of the season right now, and hopefully that continues.

Sub-Districts are set, and the Tigers have David City Aquinas Tuesday night.

The Monarchs beat NBC in last year's Sub-District Tournament so I think the Tigers know that things can quickly fall apart like they did in last year's postseason.

I'm sure North Bend Central really wants redemption this year, and a big win over Fort Calhoun on Friday can lead to positive things in the postseason.

It really won't matter either way until the postseason starts though because we saw the Tigers run the table last year before seeing their season come to a shocking and abrupt halt.

NBC simply has to correct what went wrong last year, and be on a redemption tour so to speak.

The North Bend Central Girls won 59-38 at home over Howells-Dodge Thursday night before defeating Wayne 56-32 at home Friday night. The Tigers also won 38-22 at home over Arlington in the C1-5 Sub-District Semifinals Tuesday night.

The Tigers led the Jaguars 17-12 after one, and won the 2nd quarter 10-8 to take a 27-20 lead into the locker room.

Both teams scored 13 points in the 3rd quarter, and NBC led 40-33 at the end of three.

The Tigers outscored the Jaguars 19-5 in the 4th quarter.

Kaitlyn Emanuel had 19 points while Cierra Kluthe and Sydney Emanuel notched 10 apiece.

NBC led the Blue Devils 20-0 at the end of the 1st quarter, and 31-11 at halftime.

The Tigers outscored Wayne 18-10 in the 3rd quarter to go up 49-21 at the end of three.

The Blue Devils won the 4th quarter 11-7.

North Bend Central got out to a 10-2 lead on the Eagles at the end of one, and won the 2nd quarter 4-3 to take a 14-5 lead into the locker room.

The Tigers outscored Arlington 13-9 in the 3rd quarter to go up 27-14 at the end of three.

NBC won the 4th quarter 11-8.

The Cadets beat Oakland-Craig 50-19 in the other Sub-District Semifinal Tuesday night.

These two teams have met twice so far this season with North Bend Central winning 63-38 in North Bend on December 10th and West Point-Beemer upsetting the Tigers 57-46 in the East Husker Conference Tournament Semifinals less than two weeks ago.

This is the rubber match and one that figures to be a great game.

The Tigers have to bring it and be on top of their game.

Both teams could still qualify for Sub-State with a Wildcard, but the loser chances that they won't make it in.

North Bend Central has to pick things up and get back to where they were at earlier in the season.

I kind of feel like the Tigers haven't been as dominant ever since losing to the Cadets on February 5th.

North Bend Central has to get up for this one and give West Point-Beemer everything they got.

The Tigers have to defend their home court and State Title.
