The Winnebago Boys won 60-51 at Walthill in the Lewis and Clark Conference Tournament Semifinals Thursday night before knocking off Osmond 66-62 in the Championship game at Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Monday night. The Indians then turned around and defeated Wakefield 57-54 at home Tuesday night.
Asaias Bernie had 19 points and 8 rebounds against the Blujays while Anthony Earth added 14 points. Kellen Crossbear totaled 10 while Caleb Kearnes and Jarius Bass registered 10 and 7 rebounds, respectively.
Winnebago led the Trojans 14-8 after one. Wakefield won the 2nd quarter 16-10 to tie the game at 24 at halftime.
The Indians outscored the Trojans 21-13 in the 3rd quarter to go up 45-37 at the end of three.
Wakefield won the 4th quarter 17-12.
Great stretch of play for Winnebago. The Indians have definitely turned things around big time.
Winnebago (12-8) plays host to Omaha Nation (3-12) Thursday night.
The Chiefs lost 85-54 at Walthill Tuesday night.
This should be another big win for the Indians.
Winnebago also has a game against GACC next Friday, and should be able to close out the regular season with two more wins.
The Indians are rolling right now, having won 7 in a row and 8 out of their last 9.
Quite honestly I don't think anyone wants to play Winnebago right now.
The Indians are a huge threat to do something in the postseason.
It would be an interesting matchup for sure if Winnebago played Logan View/Scribner-Snyder in the first game of Sub-Districts.
The Indians are in a tough Sub-District, but given the way they're playing right now have to be feared as a real and legit threat to win the Sub-District and get to Sub-State.
