BRLD Boys and Girls start EHC Tournament 2-0

The BRLD Boys routed Pender 61-27 in the 1st round of the East Husker Conference Tournament at Howells-Dodge on Saturday before winning 59-40 over Howells-Dodge in Oakland in the EHC Quarterfinals Tuesday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.

The Pender game was tied at 13 at the end of one. The Wolverines then outscored the Pendragons 16-2 in the 2nd quarter to take a 29-15 lead into the locker room.

BRLD outscored Pender 16-3 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 45-18 at the end of three.

The Wolverines won the 4th quarter 16-9.

Lucas Vogt led the way with 14 points while Micah Henschen notched 10. Zach Hegge and Toriano Bohannon Jr. each added 8.

The Wolverines jumped out to an 18-8 lead after the first quarter on the Jaguars.

Howells-Dodge was able to calm the storm in the second quarter, and held BRLD to just four points, while scoring 11 of their own. At halftime, BRLD’s lead was cut to 22-19.

The game stayed close in the third quarter, as BRLD led 37-30 after three.

But the Wolverines went off for 22 points in the fourth quarter, compared to 10 for H-D, and BRLD was able to pull away for the win.

Dylan Beutler had 17 points and 10 rebounds for BRLD, good enough for a double-double, with Elliott Nottleman scoring 15 and Vogt adding 11 points and 8 rebounds. Henschen chipped in 7 points.

Two really nice wins for the Wolverines.

BRLD (10-3) takes on Oakland-Craig (15-4) in the EHC Tournament Semifinals at Midland Friday night in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.

The Knights won 54-36 over Twin River in the other Quarterfinal Tuesday night.

This game marks the first meeting between the two teams this season.

It should be a great game that I feel can truly go either way.

It's great that these two teams get to play each other after all after the scheduled regular season game was cancelled.

What a big stage to meet on too.

The EHC Semifinals with a trip to the finals on the line.

It doesn't get any better than that.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on the Bull.

The BRLD Girls smashed Twin River 64-14 in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament in Humphrey Friday night before downing H/LHF 48-42 in the Quarterfinals in Leigh Monday night.

The Wolverines blanked the Titans 19-0 in the 1st quarter. BRLD outscored Twin River 22-6 in the 2nd quarter to take a 41-6 lead into the locker room.

The Wolverines outscored the Titans 13-5 in the 3rd quarter to go up 54-11 at the end of three.

BRLD won the 4th quarter 10-3.

Caragan Tietz had 14 while Jordan Snyder totaled 11. Isabella Bonneau, Alyssa Buchholz, and Elise Anderson tallied 8 apiece.

The Wolverines led the Bulldogs 10-9 after one. BRLD won the 2nd quarter 15-11 to take a 25-20 lead into the locker room.

H/LHF won the 3rd quarter 12-10 to make it a 35-32 game at the end of three.

The Wolverines won the 4th quarter 13-10.

Tietz led all scorers with 19 points while Buchholz added 9. Aubrey Berg chipped in 8 while Snyder posted 7 points and 9 rebounds.

Two great wins for BRLD.

The Wolverines (13-4) take on Oakland-Craig (11-7) in the EHC Tournament Semifinals at Midland Friday afternoon in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.

The Knights upset Clarkson/Leigh 54-40 in the Quarterfinals in Leigh Monday night.

Oakland-Craig appears to have awoke and looks as if they are a different team now than they were prior to the Start of the Conference Tournament.

It's hard to base things off one game, but it appears as if the Knights have righted the ship some perhaps.

This should be a great game between two great teams and two programs I consider to be rivals of sort.

BRLD has been lights out and money lately, and will be very tough and difficult to beat.

But the way Oakland-Craig played Monday night makes them a force to be reckoned with in this one as well.

It should be a back and forth, tight, and closely contested affair that goes down to wire.

Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on the Bull.
