LVSS Boys finish Runner-Up in NCC Tournament; Girls drop final two games of tournament, fall to Ashland-Greenwood

The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys went 2-1 in the Nebraska Capitol Conference last week, beating Arlington 53-43 at home last Wednesday night before knocking off DC West 45-38 in Valley last Thursday night, only to lose 54-32 to Yutan in Saturday's Championship game at Ashland-Greenwood.

The Raiders led the Eagles 15-12 after one, and outscored Arlington 16-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 31-19 lead into the locker room.

The Eagles won the 3rd quarter 13-10 to make it a 41-32 game at the end of three.

LVSS won the 4th quarter 12-11.

Connor Larson had 23 points while Riley Hoetfelker pitched in 13. Garrett Kriete added 8 rebounds.

The Raiders and Falcons were tied at 13 at the end of one. Logan View/Scribner-Snyder won the 2nd quarter 7-4 to take a 20-17 lead into the locker room.

DC West won the 3rd quarter 9-5 to pull in front 26-25 at the end of three.

The Raiders saved their best for last, however, outscoring the Falcons 20-12 in the 4th quarter.

Larson notched 12 points while Kriete had 10 points and 8 rebounds, and Brett Uhing totaled 10 points.

The Chieftains led 14-8 after one, and outscored LVSS 13-6 in the 2nd quarter to take a 27-14 lead into the locker room.

The Raiders won the 3rd quarter 12-10 to make it a 37-26 game at the end of three.

Yutan outscored Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 17-6 in the 4th quarter.

Two well played games against Arlington and DC West.

The Raiders (14-3) host Louisville (8-7) Friday night.

The Lions fell 51-35 at home to Yutan Tuesday night.

Makes for an interesting matchup that's for sure.

I don't think LVSS played their best basketball of the season on Saturday.

With extra prep time and rest I fully expect the Raiders to be ready to go come Friday night.

LVSS has some big games coming up, and could really benefit from winning as many of them as possible for power point purposes and other reasons.

Right now the Raiders sit at No.11 in Power Points.

I don't know if they will qualify with a Wildcard to Sub-State should they not win their District.

There's a lot for Logan View/Scribner-Snyder, and especially these seniors, to think about as we near the end of the season.

How bad does this team want to be the first in School History to qualify for State?

That is a question the Raiders have to think of as they prepare for the home stretch and get into postseason play.

LVSS will likely have to beat Wayne and/or Winnebago in Sub-Districts to qualify for Sub-State.

The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Girls fell 50-26 at Syracuse in the Nebraska Capitol Conference Tournament Quarterfinals last Wednesday night before capping off the tournament with a 59-43 loss at DC West Friday night in a consolation game. The Raiders then fell 56-42 at home to Ashland-Greenwood Tuesday night.

The Rockets led 8-5 after one, and won the 2nd quarter 11-5 to take a 19-10 lead into the locker room.

Syracuse outscored the Raiders 21-4 in the 3rd quarter to go up 40-14 at the end of three.

LVSS won the 4th quarter 12-10.

Grace Schlueter led the way with 12 points.

The Falcons doubled up the Raiders 20-10 in the 1st quarter, and outscored them 20-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 40-17 lead into the locker room.

LVSS won the 3rd quarter 11-10 to make it a 50-28 game at the end of three.

The Raiders outscored DC West 15-9 in the 4th quarter.

Schlueter had 12 points and 9 rebounds while Vacha totaled 9 points.

The Bluejays held a 13-9 lead after one, and outscored Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 19-8 in the 2nd quarter to take a 32-17 lead into the locker room.

The Raiders won the 3rd quarter 12-11 to make it a 43-29 game at the end of three.

Both teams scored 13 points in the 4th quarter.

Vacha led the way with 12 points while Elli Christianson notched 8, and Schlueter added 7.

I would say starting slow against the Falcons and Bluejays was the difference in both of those contests.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder (7-12) plays host to Louisville (12-8) Friday night.

The Lions won 41-31 at home over Yutan Tuesday night.

The Raiders beat Yutan 44-40 on the road at the beginning of the season.

If Logan View/Scribner-Snyder can get back to playing the way they were early on they could definitely win.

The Raiders are just 1-8 in their last 9 games after starting the season 6-4.

LVSS has to find a way to overcome their struggles, somehow, some way, and get back on the winning track.

Perhaps that will happen against Louisville.

If it is to happen though I think the Raiders are going to need to get off to a faster start than they did against the Falcons and Bluejays.

It's also the final home game of the season for Logan View/Scribner-Snyder so the Raiders, and especially the Seniors, have to make it count.
