The Jaguars got out to a 12-5 lead after one, and outscored the Patriots 21-11 in the 2nd quarter to take a 33-16 lead into the locker room.
Howells-Dodge outscored Clarkson/Leigh 11-3 in the 3rd quarter to go up 44-19 at the end of three.
The Patriots outscored the Jaguars 22-13 in the 4th quarter.
Really nice win for Howells-Dodge.
The Jaguars (14-6) travel to North Bend Central (14-4) Thursday night.
NBC won 75-54 at Tekamah-Herman Tuesday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.
This is going to be a difficult task and challenge for Howells-Dodge.
Going into North Bend and winning is never easy.
The Tigers are a C-1 school too and the Jaguars are D-1 so Howells-Dodge has a lot to gain in terms of power points, especially if they win.
This is a big time game for the Jaguars, who have some biggies coming up to conclude the regular season.
These next three games against North Bend Central, Wakefield, and Lutheran High Northeast will no doubt challenge and prepare Howells-Dodge for the postseason.
The Jaguars have to be thinking they've got a good chance to make a postseason run, but may need to win 1 or 2 of these big games at least to ensure themselves a wildcard to Sub-State should they not beat Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family or whoever in Sub-Districts.
The Howells-Dodge Girls fell 68-44 to Pender in an East Husker Conference Tournament Consolation Game at Leigh Friday night.
The Pendragons led 15-14 on the Jaguars after one. Pender outscored Howells-Dodge 13-3 in the 2nd quarter to take a 28-17 lead into the locker room.
Pender put up 24 points in the 3rd quarter compared to the Jaguars' 16 to extend their lead to 52-33 at the end of three.
The Pendragons won the 4th quarter 16-11.
Janessa Schmidt had a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds while Cassie Pieper notched 10 points.
Pender just played an exceptional basketball game.
Howells-Dodge (10-11) wraps up the regular season at North Bend Central (16-3) Thursday night.
NBC downed Tekamah-Herman 72-41 on the road Thursday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.
North Bend Central beat the Jaguars 60-25 at home in the EHC Tournament Quarterfinals last Monday night in action also aired on the Bull.
Not an easy game to wrap up the regular season for Howells-Dodge, but it does help the Jaguars prepare for the postseason and what they may face.
Howells-Dodge could very well likely play GACC in a Sub-District Final so it will be interesting to see what happens for sure on Thursday.
The Jaguars have to go out there and play with heart, passion, fire, and desire.
Howells-Dodge has to be aggressive and try and attack the basket and score driving to the hole or kicking it out for a 3.
The Jaguars have to be fearless, yet smart in their attack and defense against the Tigers.
