The Pender Boys lost 62-27 to BRLD at Howells in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament on Saturday before falling 70-55 to Tekamah-Herman in an EHC Tournament Consolation Game at Wisner-Pilger Monday night.
The BRLD game was tied at 13 at the end of one. The Wolverines then outscored the Pendragons 16-2 in the 2nd quarter to take a 29-15 lead into the locker room.
BRLD outscored Pender 16-3 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 45-18 at the end of three.
The Wolverines won the 4th quarter 16-9.
The Tigers led the Pendragons 15-6 at the end of one, and won the 2nd quarter 20-14 to take a 35-20 lead into the locker room.
Tekamah-Herman won the 3rd quarter 17-11 to extend their lead to 52-31 at the end of three.
Pender outscored the Tigers 24-18 in the 4th quarter.
Two tough losses for the Pendragons.
Pender (1-17) hosts Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family (15-3) Tuesday night.
The Bulldogs upended North Bend Central 62-54 in the EHC Semifinals at Midland Friday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.
This is going to be a very difficult game for the Pendragons I'm afraid.
It has been a tough season for Pender.
The Pendragons have done some really nice things this season, but the losses are mounting and piling up.
Pender has to keep fighting and battling no matter what, but there's only so much one can handle after a while.
The Pendragons simply have to right the ship and turn things around.
Pender is the only team that can fix themselves, and that's exactly what the Pendragons need to do and what this is all about.
The Pender Girls won 62-18 at home over Tekamah-Herman last Friday night in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament in action aired on 107.9 the Bull before losing 58-45 to West Point-Beemer in the EHC Semis at North Bend Tuesday night in action also aired on the Bull. The Pendragons then won 68-44 over Howells-Dodge in an EHC Consolation Game at Leigh Friday night.
Pender took an early 10-7 lead after the first quarter on the Cadets, but West Point-Beemer exploded for 19 points in the second quarter, and the Cadets led 26-22 at halftime.
The Cadets were able to build a double digit lead in the third quarter, but the Pendragons closed the quarter strong, and after the third, the lead was 46-40 in favor of West Point-Beemer.
Pender was held to just five points in the fourth quarter, and West Point-Beemer pulled away to win.
Avery Wegner and Zoey Lemkuhl each scored 16 points to lead the Pendragons.
The Pendragons led 15-14 on the Jaguars after one. Pender outscored Howells-Dodge 13-3 in the 2nd quarter to take a 28-17 lead into the locker room.
Pender put up 24 points in the 3rd quarter compared to the Jaguars' 16 to extend their lead to 52-33 at the end of three.
The Pendragons won the 4th quarter 16-11.
Good tournament overall for Pender.
The Pendragons (14-6) wrap up the regular season at GACC (18-2) Tuesday night.
The Bluejays won 35-26 over Hartington Cedar Catholic in the Mid-State Conference Semifinals at Battle Creek Thursday night.
This is going to be as tough a game if not tougher than the West Point-Beemer game.
Going into Central Catholic winning is always extremely tough and requires a great game from the visiting team.
Even if Pender can't win this one it should help prepare them for what they are going to see in the postseason.
This is the Pendragons' game to get ready for Sub-Districts and a postseason run.
Pender has to play a good game and work out any final kinks in their armor prior to the postseason.
GACC is a poster child for success, and the Pendragons have to try and emulate that come Tuesday night.
