The Patriots led the Tigers 18-13 after one, and outscored them 25-12 in the 2nd quarter to take a 43-25 lead into the locker room.
Both teams scored 18 points in the 3rd quarter, and the score was 61-43 at the end of three.
Both teams scored 15 points in the 4th quarter to make up the final score.
Daniel Beller had 24 points and 8 rebounds while Tommy McEvoy notched 16 points and 9 rebounds. Jarred Novotny added 13 points while Lance Paprocki notched 8. Carter Hanel posted 11 rebounds.
The Patriots led the Raiders 11-10 at the end of one. Logan View/Scribner-Snyder won the 2nd quarter 15-13 to go up 25-24 at halftime.
The Raiders doubled up Clarkson/Leigh 16-8 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 41-32 at the end of three.
LVSS outscored the Patriots 22-14 in the 4th quarter.
Novotny led all scorers with 31 points while McEvoy and Beller added 11 and 8, respectively. Hanel totaled 7 rebounds.
Great games from Clarkson/Leigh. I was very impressed with the Patriots' play.
Clarkson/Leigh (5-12) takes on Stanton (5-15) on the road Thursday night.
The Mustangs lost 40-39 to Pender at Twin River in an EHC Consolation Game Friday night.
Stanton lost on a late basket as a matter of fact.
I think the Patriots can go in there and win given the way they played the last two games.
You can bet Clarkson/Leigh will be motivated given the way they played against the Raiders and Tigers.
The Patriots are catching the Mustangs at a good time too.
Stanton is on a 6-game losing streak so now is the time to get them if you are Clarkson/Leigh.
I look for the Patriots to come out and play another good game Thursday night.
I feel one of the biggest differences and keys for Clarkson/Leigh the last two games has been the emergence of McEvoy.
I talked about before how he needed to step up his scoring, and he has.
Now it's a matter of the Patriots continuing to build upon what they've done the last two games.
That was a good Raider team Clarkson/Leigh nearly beat the other night.
It was a heartbreaking loss no doubt, but it's a loss that the Patriots have to forget about and move past.
Clarkson/Leigh has to feel really good about how they're playing right now as a whole, and has to take that confidence and momentum into the Stanton game.
The Patriots also have East Butler and David City before regular season's end, and I feel Clarkson/Leigh can get both of those games as well.
A 3-game winning streak heading into Sub-Districts would sure be nice for the Patriots, and it can definitely happen if Clarkson/Leigh keeps playing the way it has.
First things first though, the Patriots have to take care of business against the Mustangs.
It should be a good, even battle with both teams being tall and not height challenged to say the least.
I feel guard play will be big and factor into this one as well.
The Clarkson/Leigh Girls took 3rd in the East Husker Conference Tournament, losing 54-34 to West Point-Beemer in the Semifinals at Oakland-Craig Thursday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull before rallying from 12 points down in the 3rd quarter to beat Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family 52-47 in the 3rd place game at CCC in Columbus on Saturday. The Patriots followed that up with a 58-28 win over Logan View/Scribner-Snyder at home Tuesday night.
West Point-Beemer made nine shots from beyond the perimeter on their way to the win over Clarkson/Leigh.
Ashlynn Novotny had 8 points for the Patriots and Kaegan Held added 7.
Despite trailing 13-10 after the first quarter, the Bulldogs rallied in the second and took a 31-25 lead into halftime.
Throughout the second half, Clarkson/Leigh overcame a 12 point deficit, and would go on to beat H/LHF.
Held had 15 points to lead the Patriots.
Clarkson/Leigh went up 21-2 at the end of the 1st quarter on the Raiders. The Patriots won the 2nd quarter 11-6 to go up 32-8 at halftime.
Clarkson/Leigh won the 3rd quarter 11-10 to lead 43-18 at the end of three.
The Patriots won the 4th quarter 15-10.
Novotny led the way with 13 points while Held notched 8. Hannah Kasik added 7.
What great resiliency and resolve shown by Clarkson/Leigh following the loss to the Cadets.
The Patriots (18-3) close out the regular season at Stanton (13-7) Thursday night.
The Mustangs lost 58-48 at BRLD in an EHC Consolation game Thursday night.
Clarkson/Leigh downed Stanton 34-27 in the Conference Tournament Quarterfinals at West Point-Beemer last Monday.
That was a great game and a great win for the Patriots.
With that said, you know the Mustangs will be vying for payback, and will be upset given what happened the first time these two teams met.
Stanton is at home too, and you know the Mustangs won't go down without a fight.
Sub-Districts will be set by the time these two teams play so there's no seeding on the line or anything like that.
These two teams could very well see each other in the Sub-District a final a week after this game so we'll see what happens.
I think given the way Clarkson/Leigh is playing right now and the way Stanton lost at BRLD Thursday night gives the Patriots a good shot to win again.
Clarkson/Leigh has to be the cardiac kids again if called upon, and come from behind if needed.
The ideal thing would be to get out to a nice lead and hold onto it, but I'm sure the Mustangs will make this thing a seesaw battle back and forth.
It could be a game of runs and momentum like the first time around.
I thought the 3-pointer the Patriots hit to go up 25-23 after trailing 23-22 made all the difference for them.
It was a big time shot and came at a very good time.
That was then and this is now though, and Clarkson/Leigh has to prove themselves once again.
The Patriots are inching oh so ever close to their dreams and goals, and now it's time to take another step in making them come true.
Clarkson/Leigh can definitely still do postseason damage even if they lose this game, but a win would be a lot better than a loss heading into Sub-Districts I would say.
