Emerson-Hubbard Boys beat Randolph; Girls fall

The Emerson-Hubbard Boys Basketball Team beat Randolph 56-44 on the road Tuesday night.

The Cardinals went up 13-7 after one before the Pirates outscored them 17-8 in the 2nd quarter to take a 24-21 lead into the locker room.

Emerson-Hubbard won the 3rd quarter 10-7 to go up 34-28 at the end of three.

The Pirates outscored Randolph 22-16 in the 4th quarter.

Jacob Kneifl had 15 points while Nolan Belt and Spencer Burcham notched 12 and 11, respectively. Garrett Blanke and Hunter Schock registered 9 apiece.

I don't know what Emerson-Hubbard has done, but the Pirates are playing some good basketball right now.

Emerson-Hubbard (7-13) hosts Omaha Nation (13-6) Friday night.

The Chiefs won 62-59 at Walthill Tuesday night.

I think the Pirates have a chance to do well and be successful in this game.

It seems like the win over Homer kind of sparked Emerson-Hubbard.

I thought the Pirates' offensive and defensive efforts were very solid against Randolph.

Omaha Nation is a good team though, and Emerson-Hubbard certainly has their work cut out for them.

The Pirates have to come out ready to play a great game from start to finish.

Emerson-Hubbard has to play with intensity on both ends of the floor, and outhustle and outwork the Chiefs.

The Pirates have to want it more than Omaha Nation, and that has to be evident in their play.

Emerson-Hubbard has to play hard, smart, and with a lot of passion and love for the game.

The Pirates appear to have started figuring things out from an offensive and scoring standpoint, and I think that has been the biggest thing for them the last couple of games.

Lots of kids are getting in the act, and that's a great sign for Emerson-Hubbard.

The train doesn't stop here though.

The Pirates have a great opportunity in front of them, especially with Omaha Nation coming to their house.

A win would make a huge statement for Emerson-Hubbard without a doubt.

The Chiefs are a pretty salty and solid team, but the way the Pirates have come on lately makes you think this one could be pretty interesting.

We will find out if Emerson-Hubbard can continue their winning ways or if Omaha Nation has other ideas.

I honestly don't know what to expect in this one as I could see things going a number of different ways.

The Emerson-Hubbard Girls lost 59-37 at Randolph Tuesday night.

The Pirates led 7-6 after one before the Cardinals outscored them 19-6 in the 2nd quarter to take a 25-13 lead into the locker room.

Randolph tripled up Emerson-Hubbard 18-6 in the 3rd quarter to go up 43-19 at the end of three.

The Pirates won the 4th quarter 18-16.

Melanie Gentrup had 18 points while Stephanie Ferusca totaled 7. Taylor Daum added 8 rebounds.

Good effort from Emerson-Hubbard, but the middle quarters really did them in.

The Pirates (6-13) host Omaha Nation (3-15) in the regular season finale Friday night.

The Chiefs won 57-53 at Walthill Tuesday night.

I think Emerson-Hubbard has a really good chance to win this one.

A win would be really nice for the seniors too since it is their final home game.

The Pirates have to make it a memorable one to say the least.

Hopefully it's not the final home game ever for the Emerson-Hubbard Pirates, but either way a win would be great.

Emerson-Hubbard has to play the best they possibly can given their depth and lack of numbers.

The Pirates are at a real disadvantage only having 8 girls out for the team, but I expect all to play a big role Friday night.

Sub-Districts are set as Emerson-Hubbard plays Bloomfield at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night in the D2-4 Sub-District at Hartington Cedar Catholic.

The Bees beat the Pirates by 18 on opening night in Bloomfield so Emerson-Hubbard definitely has a tough game on their hands in that one.

What would help heading into that contest is a win over Omaha Nation.

Beating the Chiefs may not seem like a big deal, but when you only have 8 girls out for the team every win is big.

I think a win would give the Pirates some extra energy and spark heading into Tuesday night's game.

I think Emerson-Hubbard would have a better chance of beating Bloomfield if they beat Omaha Nation as opposed to losing to the Chiefs.

The Pirates just have to come out and play their best game and lay everything out on the line.

Emerson-Hubbard has to play as well as possible given their limited numbers, and overcome the challenges and obstacles that come with that.

The Pirates need to have good execution, and need to get multiple girls in the scoring column if at all possible.
