Oakland-Craig Boys top West Point-Beemer; Girls fall to Cadets, down Wisner-Pilger in Sub-Districts

The Oakland-Craig Boys Basketball Team rounded out the regular season Friday night with a 77-57 home win over West Point-Beemer.

The Knights went up 18-7 after one before the Cadets won the 2nd quarter 16-14 to make it a 32-23 game at halftime in favor of Oakland-Craig.

The Knights won the 3rd quarter 19-17 to extend their lead to 51-40 at the end of three.

Oakland-Craig outscored West Point-Beemer 26-17 in the 4th quarter.

Tyson Harney had 16 points while Colton Thomsen had 15. Garrison Dodge added 11 while Jaron Meyer notched 9. Wyatt Seagren added 7 rebounds.

Great start and finish to the game for the Knights.

Oakland-Craig (12-10) is off until Tuesday night when they take on Omaha Nation (14-6) in the C2-5 Sub-District Semifinals from Pender.

The Chiefs won 71-65 at Emerson-Hubbard Friday night.

The Knights defeated Omaha Nation 64-57 at home in the regular season.

I feel Oakland-Craig is going to find a way to win a close game in this one.

The winner will get either BRLD or Walthill/GACC in the Sub-District Final next Thursday, and if the Knights and Wolverines play again it should be a good, competitive ball game like it was the first time around.

Oakland-Craig has quite a few seniors, and I think that will help them in the postseason.

I think the Knights probably have a lot of kids who don't want to see their high school basketball careers come to an end, and will want to do something about it.

Oakland-Craig capped off the regular season with an exclamation point, and I'm curious and anxious to see how the win will carry over into Sub-Districts.

The Knights have their hands full with the Chiefs though.

Omaha Nation is a good, quality, and tough team.

Oakland-Craig won a close game in Sub-Districts over the Chiefs last year though, and I look for a similar result this year.

I'm sure the Knights would love another shot and crack at BRLD given how tough they played them earlier this season.

Beating the Wolverines in the Sub-District will be extremely difficult, but Oakland-Craig has to be ready to rock and roll against BRLD if given the opportunity to face them again.

The Knights just have to be focused on Omaha Nation right now though.

Oakland-Craig has to use this extra preparation time to their advantage, and have a good game plan against the Chiefs.

The Knights need to have a bunch of good practices leading up to this one with Omaha Nation.

Everything Oakland-Craig does needs to be done with maximum effort, especially knowing that this is the seniors' last opportunity to do something.

Tip-off is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. at Pender.

The Oakland-Craig Girls lost 51-41 at home to West Point-Beemer to end the regular season before winning 59-33 over Wisner-Pilger in the C2-5 Sub-District Semifinals from Pender Tuesday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.

The Knights led West Point-Beemer 9-4 after one before the Cadets outscored Oakland-Craig 18-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 22-16 lead into the locker room.

The Knights won the 3rd quarter 11-9 to make it a 31-27 game at the end of three in favor of the Cadets.

West Point-Beemer won the 4th quarter 20-14.

Dacey Nelson had 16 points while Mya Guzinski was also in double figures with 10. Kennedy Benne added 8.

The Gators and Knights were tied at 14 after one before Oakland-Craig outscored Wisner-Pilger 24-2 in the 2nd quarter to take a 38-16 lead into the locker room.

The Knights won the 3rd quarter 15-10 to go up 53-26 at the end of three.

The Gators won the 4th quarter 7-6.

Nelson totaled 16 points while Benne and Natalia McNeill added 15 and 11, respectively.

Great second quarter for Oakland-Craig against Wisner-Pilger.

The Knights (19-3) take on Guardian Angels Central Catholic (15-8) in the C2-5 Sub-District Final from Pender Thursday night in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.

The Bluejays downed BRLD 71-51 in Tuesday night's Semifinals.

GACC played a really good game against the Wolverines, in my opinion.

It's almost as if the Bluejays were a completely different team against BRLD.

It will be interesting to see if GACC can play like that again Thursday night.

I will say I think Oakland-Craig needs to bring and play their best game in order to win Thursday night.

Nelson, Benne, and others need to bring their "A" games for the Knights.

Oakland-Craig is safely in the Sub-State round win or lose, but the Knights have a chance to make history and end the Bluejays' 21-year streak of making the state tournament.

I'm sure Oakland-Craig would love to be the team to do that too.

It won't be easy though as I'm sure GACC will give the Knights their best shot.

Oakland-Craig will get the Bluejays' best effort and game, that you can bet on.

The Knights have to be ready to go toe to toe with GACC for 4 quarters.

It's do or die time for the Bluejays so you know GACC will throw everything they have at Oakland-Craig.

There's nothing to save or hold back if you are the Bluejays so the Knights have to be prepared for whatever GACC throws or sends their way.

Oakland-Craig has to be unselfish with the basketball and be ready to step in and take charges.

The Knights have to play good fundamentally sound team basketball, and do it for an entire 32 minutes.

Oakland-Craig has to really want to be the team to knock out the Bluejays and send them home packing.

The Knights are a great team, and this is their opportunity to beat a great team, program, and dynasty.

Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m. on the Bull.
