Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys beat Clarkson/Leigh, fall to BRLD; Girls go 1-3 in last four games

The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys Basketball Team played Clarkson/Leigh on the road last week, winning 55-54 on a Riley Hoetfelker buzzer beating 3-pointer on Tuesday. The Raiders then fell 42-32 at BRLD Friday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.

The Patriots led the Raiders 11-10 at the end of one. Logan View/Scribner-Snyder won the 2nd quarter 15-13 to go up 25-24 at halftime.

The Raiders doubled up Clarkson/Leigh 16-8 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 41-32 at the end of three.

LVSS outscored the Patriots 22-14 in the 4th quarter.

Connor Larson had 27 points and 7 rebounds while Trystain Roseberry added 9 points and 8 rebounds. Riley Hoetfelker chipped in 7 points.

BRLD led 15-9 at the end of the 1st quarter, and went up 18-9 in the 2nd quarter before leading 22-16 at halftime.

The Raiders went on a 6-0 run to start the 3rd quarter and tied the game at 22 before the Wolverines went on a 12-2 run to lead 34-24 later in the quarter.

BRLD led 34-27 at the end of the third, and salted the game away in the 4th quarter, winning the frame 8-5.

Roseberry had a game-high 15 points for the Raiders while Larson notched 10.

Head Coach Sean Forbes. "Yeah Connor really played well. He had Lucas Vogt on him, and that's a tough gig cause he's a great defender. And he got to the rim, and did well, and then Trystain really good shooter."

Forbes on the loss. "Yeah I was really happy with our effort. Our guys came out and executed our game plan. We knew we couldn't get in a track meet with them, we had to kind of mud it up a little bit, slow it down. And we did a great job with that. We just didn't score enough points, and they had a little run and that was the ball game."

The Raiders (14-8) host Yutan (17-5) in the regular season finale Friday night.

The Chieftains won 65-43 at home over Johnson County Central this past Friday night.

Yutan is a tough team, and is one of the top teams in all of C-2.

It will be a challenging game for Logan View/Scribner-Snyder just like the game against the Wolverines was.

I thought the Raiders played exceptionally well against BRLD though...I was very impressed with Logan View/Scribner-Snyder.

Larson and Roseberry are really good players, and I'm excited to see what they do next year also.

Sub-Districts are set, and the Raiders will play West Point-Beemer in the C1-6 Sub-District at Oakland-Craig next Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m.

I look for the Sub-District to come down to North Bend Central and Logan View/Scribner-Snyder.

The Tigers are just 2-2 in their last four games, and who knows...if the Raiders can knock off Yutan and West Point-Beemer perhaps they win the Sub-District.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has to win the Sub-District to make Sub-State though.

The Raiders have to come out and play the Chieftains the way they did the Wolverines.

LVSS will be at home, and I totally expect them to be tough.

I look for the game to be very close and tightly contested.

I feel the Raiders definitely have what it takes to win, but it won't be easy.

LVSS is a very young, but talented basketball team.

I was really impressed with the Raiders on Friday night, and look for them to do well this Friday night and make a push in Sub-Districts as well.

Friday night's game is the last game of the season for seniors like Nathan Wacker and Austin Peters so the team has to do everything they can and in their power to send the seniors out winners and in style.

The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Girls went 1-3 in their last three games, losing 58-28 at Clarkson/Leigh last Tuesday night, winning 49-29 at Boys Town Thursday night, losing 65-25 at BRLD Friday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull, and then falling 31-30 to Tekamah-Herman in the C1-6 Sub-District Play-In Game at Oakland-Craig Monday night on a Maggie Sheets buzzer beater after leading 30-23 midway through the 4th quarter.

Clarkson/Leigh went up 21-2 at the end of the 1st quarter on the Raiders. The Patriots won the 2nd quarter 11-6 to go up 32-8 at halftime.

Clarkson/Leigh won the 3rd quarter 11-10 to lead 43-18 at the end of three.

The Patriots won the 4th quarter 15-10.

Shaylin Daugherty notched 7 rebounds.

The Raiders led the Cowboys 8-6 at the end of one. Logan View/Scribner-Snyder won the 2nd quarter 13-7 to take a 21-13 lead into the locker room.

LVSS outscored Boys Town 19-6 in the 3rd quarter to go up 40-19 at the end of three.

The Cowboys won the 4th quarter 10-9.

Ashley Peters had 11 points while Josie Kahlandt totaled 10 points and 7 rebounds. Daugherty added 8 points and 23 rebounds while Ashley Uhing notched 8 points.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder went up 4-2 early on the Wolverines, but BRLD's press was too much for the Raiders to overcome as the Wolverines forced 18 first half turnovers, unofficially, on their way to an 18-2 run in the first quarter to lead 20-6 at the end of the 1st quarter.

BRLD outscored the Raiders 20-2 in the 2nd quarter to take a 40-8 lead into the locker room.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder won the 3rd quarter 8-7 to make it a 47-16 game at the end of three.

The Wolverines doubled up the Raiders 18-9 in the 4th quarter.

Kahlandt paced Logan View/Scribner-Snyder with 8 points while Daugherty added 7 points and 10 rebounds.

The Tigers went up 11-8 on the Raiders at the end of one. Both teams scored 5 points in the 2nd quarter, and the score was 16-13 at halftime in favor of Tekamah-Herman.

LVSS outscored the Tigers 11-5 in the 3rd quarter to go up 24-21 at the end of three.

Tekamah-Herman won the 4th quarter 10-6 to make up the final score.

Kahlandt totaled 12 points while Valerie Uehling notched 9. Daugherty had 23 rebounds while Uhing added 7 in their final game in a Raider uniform.

Really tough loss and way to end the season if you are Logan View/Scribner-Snyder. The Raiders were so close to winning.

LVSS ends the season at 6-17.

I would say the highlight of the season was beating Raymond Central 61-51 on the road in a game in which the Raiders spurted out to a 9-0 lead to start the game.

I thought LVSS did a lot of nice things this year.

The first win of the season over Cedar Bluffs and the last win over Boys Town both had to be memorable in their own ways.

Kahlandt led the team in scoring this season as she averaged 9 points a game while Daugherty and Uehling each averaged 7.

Daugherty led the team in rebounding with 315 rebounds on the season while Uhing added 104.

The Raiders say goodbye to Daugherty, Uhing, Peters, and Kaylin Niewohner.

These four girls were very valuable players on the team and will be sorely missed without a doubt.

Daugherty's scoring and rebounding will really be missed as will Peters' scoring and Uhing's rebounding.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder will return Reagan Klein, Uehling, Maelee Beacom, Liz Polk, Karlie Hansen, Emily Miller, Cailey Stout, Kahlandt, Paige Kotik, and Taylor Ruwe, among others.

I feel there is a good strong core group returning for the Raiders, and feel Logan View/Scribner-Snyder can build on the past couple of years and be good in the future.

These girls have to continue to bond and work together.

The team has to have offseason get togethers and dinners, and could really benefit from waking up early and working out and playing the game together.

Taking part in lots of summer leagues, team camps, open gyms, weightlifting sessions, pick up games, and other summer activities will be important and vital for the Raiders I feel.

I want to wish Daugherty, Uhing, Peters, and Niewohner the best of luck in their future endeavors.

Whether they're going to college or the workforce I hope that high school sports and high school basketball at Logan View and Scribner-Snyder benefits them for the rest of their lives.

For the returning players, they must realize that it takes hard work and determination to get to the top and be a great team.

So with that said, they have to get after it as soon as possible this upcoming offseason to prepare and get ready for next season.
