Wisner-Pilger is in a slump right now as they have lost four in a row and five out of their last six.
The Gators (13-9) take on Madison (8-13) next Friday night to close out the regular season.
The Dragons beat David City 86-76 at home Thursday night.
Madison is a sneaky and streaky team that can play well at times, but I look for Wisner-Pilger to get back on track in this one.
The Gators will have had ample time to prepare for the Dragons, and should come out refreshed and ready to go.
Wisner-Pilger has kind of run into a buzzsaw lately, and needs time to regroup and collect their breath.
This game against Madison needs to be good and a win though given the fact Sub-Districts begin the following week.
It looks like the Gators could very well be in the play-in game against Stanton in Sub-Districts, but things are unofficial and still officially to be determined yet.
Wisner-Pilger simply has to fix themselves.
The Gators have to correct the problems they're going through and the mistakes they are making.
Wisner-Pilger has been inconsistent on both ends of the floor lately, and needs to find a way to get back on track.
The defense was good during a couple of the losses and then the offense did well in the other two losses during the current losing streak.
The Gators have to take command of their game and themselves and find a way to right the ship.
Wisner-Pilger has to have good, hard practices next week.
The Gators also have to embrace what's left in the season given the fact it's coming to a close.
Wisner-Pilger is a fairly young team, but for the seniors on the team this is it.
The Gators have accomplished so many good things this season, liking giving Coach Mendlik his 671st career win, making him the winningest coach of all-time in Nebraska High School Boys Basketball History.
Wisner-Pilger can't be ready to be done yet though. The Gators have to make a final strong push to try and get to state.
The Wisner-Pilger Girls won 38-34 over Logan View/Scribner-Snyder last Thursday night in an East Husker Conference Tournament Consolation Game at Pender before falling 67-31 at home to BRLD Tuesday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull. The Gators led the Bears 10-9 at the end of one before Laurel-Concord-Coleridge won the 2nd quarter 16-12 to go up 25-22 at halftime.
The Bears doubled up Wisner-Pilger 16-8 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 41-30 at the end of three.
Laurel-Concord-Coleridge won the 4th quarter 20-19.
Good job beating the Raiders again. The Gators played well against the Bears for the most part I thought it was just the 3rd quarter that was the difference.
Wisner-Pilger (6-16) takes on Omaha Nation (3-15) in the C2-5 Sub-District Play-in game at Pender Monday night in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.
The Chiefs won 57-53 at Walthill Tuesday night.
This figures to be a game the Gators can win.
The winner gets top seeded Oakland-Craig Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m. in another game that can be heard on the Bull.
And while it figures to be very difficult for Wisner-Pilger to beat the Knights if they win Monday night, the Gators have to try and keep their season going as long as possible.
Winning a game in the postseason would be a good momentum boost and lift.
Wisner-Pilger has to come out inspired Monday night, and has to fight like they know their season is on the line.
The Gators have to get excited, and lay things all out on the line.
This is it for a lot of these girls as there are quite a few seniors on the team.
Wisner-Pilger has to go out there and give it their all for four quarters and on Tuesday night if they advance.
The Gators have to come out and assert themselves on both ends of the floor.
Jordan Wegner has to have a big game for Wisner-Pilger, and take the Chiefs to school.
The Gators need to play at as high a level as possible, and take the fight to Omaha Nation for four quarters.
Wisner-Pilger has to have the will, grit, fight, moxie, toughness, and determination to move on and advance to Tuesday.
The Gators have to be tenacious on defense and attack and take chances offensively.
Wisner-Pilger has to play with a lot of heart, pride, and passion, and nothing to lose.
The Gators have nothing to lose in this Sub-District so they might as well go down swinging and with a fight.
Monday night's game is set to tip-off at 7:00 p.m. on the Bull.
