Tekamah-Herman Boys 0-2 in last two games; Girls 1-2 in last three
The Tekamah-Herman Boys Basketball Team lost 76-58 to Clarkson/Leigh at Twin River in an East Husker Conference Tournament Consolation Game Friday night before dropping an 82-36 decision at home to North Bend Central Tuesday night.
The Patriots led the Tigers 18-13 after one, and outscored them 25-12 in the 2nd quarter to take a 43-25 lead into the locker room.
Both teams scored 18 points in the 3rd quarter, and the score was 61-43 at the end of three.
Both teams scored 15 points in the 4th quarter to make up the final score.
North Bend Central led Tekamah-Herman 24-4 at the end of one. NBC won the 2nd quarter 23-20 to go up 47-24 at halftime.
North Bend Central outscored Tekamah-Herman 26-8 in the 3rd quarter to lead 73-32 at the end of three.
NBC won the 4th quarter 9-4.
I thought Tekamah-Herman did a nice job of battling against both teams, never giving up.
The Tigers (1-19) host Whiting, IA (0-18) Friday night.
I don't know a lot about Whiting, but I think Tekamah-Herman has a good chance to win this one.
It would be a big deal for the Tigers to pick up their second win of the season.
It's always hard to know what to expect from these out of state games as you don't know what you're going to get, but I look for Tekamah-Herman to do good things.
Whiting would be classified as D-2 in Nebraska, and I think that holds promise for the Tigers.
Tekamah-Herman has to come out and give it all they got Friday night.
The season is about to its end and the Tigers have to make the most of this game and the other games they have left in the season.
It would sure be nice to see Tekamah-Herman pick up another win this season.
It happened once, and it can certainly happen again.
The Tigers just have to revert back to what they did against Clarkson/Leigh the first time the two teams played.
Tekamah-Herman has to find a way to play a complete game against Whiting.
Tekamah-Herman can't afford to fall behind in a hole like they did against the Patriots the second time around against North Bend Central.
The Tigers have to play four complete quarters of basketball, and turn in a mighty fine performance.
Tekamah-Herman has to contest shots and rebound the ball well, which involves boxing out well and wanting the ball more than their opponent.
The Tigers have to dive after loose balls, and give 110% on every single play.
Tekamah-Herman has to fight and play as hard as they possibly can, and do everything in their power to beat Whiting.
The Tigers have to feed off the energy of the crowd, and turn in the type of performance that they will remember for years to come.
Tekamah-Herman has to turn in the type of effort that gives them something to build off of the rest of the season also.
The Tekamah-Herman Girls won 45-31 over Madison in an East Husker Conference Tournament Consolation Game at Pender Thursday night before falling 59-47 at home to Omaha Mercy Monday night, and 53-33 at home to North Bend Central Tuesday night.
The Tigers tripled up the Dragons 9-3 in the 1st quarter before outscoring Madison 14-3 in the 2nd quarter to take a 23-6 lead into the locker room.
Tekamah-Herman won the 3rd quarter 11-6 to extend their lead to 34-12 at the end of three.
The Dragons outscored the Tigers 19-11 in the 4th quarter.
The Monarchs staked claim to a 14-10 lead at the end of one. Tekamah-Herman won the 2nd quarter 11-5 to take a 21-19 lead into the locker room.
Omaha Mercy outscored the Tigers 22-15 in the 3rd quarter to pull in front 41-36 at the end of three.
The Monarchs outscored Tekamah-Herman 18-11 in the 4th quarter.
Tekamah-Herman led 12-10 at the end of the 1st quarter over NBC before North Bend Central outscored Tekamah-Herman 12-5 in the 2nd quarter to take a 22-17 lead into the locker room.
NBC opened things up in the 3rd quarter, tripling up Tekamah-Herman 21-7 to go up 43-24 at the end of three.
North Bend Central won the 4th quarter 10-9.
Good play overall for Tekamah-Herman I thought given the fact North Bend Central is playing really well right now, Omaha Mercy is Class B, and they lost to the Dragons the first time around.
Tekamah-Herman (5-17) wraps up the regular season at Omaha Roncalli (12-9) Thursday night.
The Crimson Pride lost 62-23 at Bennington Tuesday night.
Roncalli beat Omaha Mercy 54-31 so the Tigers are definitely going to need to step up their game and raise their level of play in this one.
Tekamah-Herman can definitely do it too, they just need to play solid offense and defense.
I feel scoring will be big in this game.
The Tigers have to find a way to put the ball in the basket on a consistent basis to hang with the Crimson Pride in this one, in my opinion.
Tekamah-Herman has to play fearless and with nothing to lose though.
The Tigers need to play well to give themselves confidence and momentum heading into Sub-Districts.
Tekamah-Herman is going to be playing Logan View/Scribner-Snyder in the bunny bracket game of the C1-6 Sub-District at Oakland-Craig so the Tigers will at least know their postseason fate by game time on Thursday.
The game with Roncalli really has no significant meaning other than it's a chance to go out on top in the final regular season game, and can help Tekamah-Herman build for the postseason.
The Tigers have to shoot and play their hearts out, and go down fighting.
Tekamah-Herman has to give the Crimson Pride their best shot and all they can handle and then some.
The Tigers can't be scared of Roncalli or back down from them whatsoever.
Tekamah-Herman has to be confident when they shoot the ball, and play stellar defense like they are capable of.
The Tigers have to turn in the type of performance that's going to give them something good to feel about heading into Sub-Districts.
A close loss could serve as a moral victory and a confidence booster heading into the postseason.
A lopsided loss really won't help matters I'm afraid though.
