Tekamah-Herman Boys defeat Whiting, IA; Girls go 1-2 in last three games
The Tekamah-Herman Boys Basketball Team defeated Whiting, IA 73-48 at home Friday night.
Nice win for the Tigers. A feel good win you could say.
Tekamah-Herman (2-19) plays host to DC West (10-12) in the regular season finale Friday night.
The Falcons lost 84-51 at Platteview last Tuesday night.
The Tigers appear to be overmatched in this game perhaps, but Tekamah-Herman has to play fearless and with nothing to lose.
I think the win over Whiting, IA really helps and benefits the Tigers also.
I thought it was Tekamah-Herman's most complete game of the year.
It has to be a good feeling for the Tigers to win at least a couple of games this year.
Sub-Districts are set, and Tekamah-Herman plays Yutan on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. in the Semifinals at Wahoo.
The Tigers have to use the win over Whiting, IA to lead to even more good things on Friday and allow that to carry over to Tuesday.
Tekamah-Herman beat Yutan in football so who's to say it can't happen in Basketball too?
The Tigers have to be feeling confident and optimistic given their win Friday night.
Tekamah-Herman has to feel as if either team can be beat.
The Tigers have had all practice to week and should be well rested and ready to go.
This is the last home game of the season so Tekamah-Herman has to send their seniors out in style if at all possible.
The Tigers have to give the Falcons all they can ever want and handle, and play the best game possible.
Tekamah-Herman has to give things their best shot and see what happens.
The Tigers have to play their game and not DC West's.
Tekamah-Herman has to play within themselves and up to their potential.
The Tigers have to give it their all and do everything in their power to win, and see what happens.
Tekamah-Herman has to expect to win on both Friday and Tuesday, and has to revert back to what they did in football against the Chieftains.
The Tekamah-Herman Girls lost 49-41 at Omaha Roncalli last Thursday night in the regular season finale before winning 31-30 over Logan View/Scribner-Snyder in the C1-6 Sub-District Play-In Game at Oakland-Craig Monday night, and losing 67-23 to West Point-Beemer in Tuesday night's Semifinals.
The Tigers went up 11-8 on the Raiders at the end of one. Both teams scored 5 points in the 2nd quarter, and the score was 16-13 at halftime in favor of Tekamah-Herman.
LVSS outscored the Tigers 11-5 in the 3rd quarter to go up 24-21 at the end of three.
Tekamah-Herman won the 4th quarter 10-6 to make up the final score.
The Cadets led the Tigers 13-4 after one, and won the 2nd quarter 21-13 to take a 34-17 lead into the locker room.
West Point-Beemer outscored Tekamah-Herman 29-4 in the 3rd quarter to go up 63-21 at the end of three.
The Cadets doubled up the Tigers 4-2 in the 4th quarter.
Maggie Sheets hit the game winner for Tekamah-Herman against the Raiders as the Tigers rallied from a 7-point 4th quarter deficit halfway through the period. I think that's something she'll always remember.
Tekamah-Herman ends the season at 6-19.
The wins over Logan View/Scribner-Snyder and Parkview Christian were the biggest wins of the year I would say.
I think the Tigers did a lot of nice things this year, but feel there is plenty to work on.
Tekamah-Herman says goodbye to Sydnee Brummond, Jennifer Graef, and Jordan Wetzel.
These three girls meant a lot to Tekamah-Herman Girls Basketball without a doubt, and will be sorely missed I'm sure.
The good news for the Tigers is they bring back a lot of talent, including Sheets, Jadyn Fleischman, Halle Olson, Anna Wakehouse, Aubrynn Sheets, Elena Jetensky, Kaitlyn Quick, Greta Lindberg, and Maggie Braniff.
I feel there's a lot of returning talent to build around.
It will be interesting to see what Tekamah-Herman's depth is like next year.
The Tigers didn't have a lot of girls out for the team this year so it will be interesting to see what incoming freshmen there are next year and if anyone transfers in and if there are any others who go out that didn't this year.
Tekamah-Herman has to become a close and tight knit group over the offseason if they aren't already.
The team has to hangout and do team bonding activities as well as workout together.
Getting up and scrimmaging against one another and lifting together and having movie night or something of that nature are all good things the Tigers can do, in my opinion.
Taking part in as many team camps, summer leagues, open gyms, and weightlifting sessions as possible is very important and critical for the Tigers, in my opinion.
Tekamah-Herman has to get after it and really want it this offseason.
I feel the win over Logan View/Scribner-Snyder and the Sheets buzzer beater will uplift the Tigers and give them something to build on for next season.
I think Tekamah-Herman has a lot to work with heading into next season, and a lot to play for next year.
