Tri County Northeast Boys beat Winside and Ponca; Girls beat Wildcats, fall to Indians

The Tri County Northeast Boys downed Winside 59-21 at home last Thursday night before upsetting Ponca 48-36 at home Friday night.

The Wolfpack led the Wildcats 11-6 after one, and outscored Winside 17-5 in the 2nd quarter to take a 28-11 lead into the locker room.

Tri County Northeast outscored the Wildcats 17-2 in the 3rd quarter to go up 45-13 at the end of three.

The Wolfpack outscored Winside 14-8 in the 4th quarter.

Kobe Kumm had 8 points while Brock Mackling, Reed Hingst, Josh Olesen, and Anthony Isom notched 7 apiece.

The Indians led Tri County Northeast 10-7 at the end of the 1st quarter. The Wolfpack won the 2nd quarter 12-7 to take a 19-17 lead into the locker room.

Tri County Northeast won the 3rd quarter 15-11 to go up 34-28 at the end of three.

The Wolfpack outscored Ponca 14-8 in the 3rd quarter to complete the upset.

Steven Sullivan led the way with 13 points and 18 rebounds, good enough for a double-double. Hingst added 13 points while Kumm notched 8.

What a week it was for Tri County Northeast as the Wolfpack went 3-0.

Tri County Northeast (4-2) takes on Chambers/Wheeler Central (0-4) in the first round of the Summerland Holiday Tournament in Clearwater on Monday.

The Renegades have struggled so far this year.

Other teams in this tournament include Summerland and Walthill.

I think the championship will come down to the Blujays and Wolfpack.

If Tri County Northeast plays the way they did against Ponca then they can beat Walthill, and everyone else they play for that matter,

I don't know what's gotten into the Wolfpack, but they played really well last week.

Monday's game is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m. in Clearwater.

The Tri County Northeast Girls won 63-36 at home over Winside last Thursday night before falling 69-29 at home to Ponca Friday night.

The Wolfpack got out to a 24-6 lead on the Wildcats at the end of one before doubling up Winside 16-8 in the 2nd quarter to take a 40-14 lead into the locker room.

The Wildcats won the 3rd quarter 12-11 to make it a 51-26 game at the end of three.

Tri County Northeast won the 4th quarter 12-10.

Jordyn Carr had 22 points while Rhyanne Mackling totaled 10. Brynn Schock had 9 points and 14 rebounds while Carly Dickens posted 9 points.

The Indians tripled up the Wolfpack 24-8 in the 1st quarter, and outscored Tri County Northeast 18-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 42-15 lead into the locker room.

Ponca outscored the Wolfpack 15-8 in the 3rd quarter to go up 57-23 at the end of three.

The Indians doubled up Tri County Northeast 12-6 in the 4th quarter.

Carr finished with 10 points. Schock had 11 rebounds while Alli Jackson notched 7.

Tri County Northeast finishes the pre-Christmas Holiday Schedule with a 2-3 record.

Not too bad for the Wolfpack as I think a run in the second half of the season is imminent.

Tri County Northeast has a battle on their hands against Chambers/Wheeler Central (5-0) at the Summerland Holiday Tournament in Clearwater on Monday.

The Renegades won 68-23 at home over Central Valley on Saturday.

This is going to be a tough game for the Wolfpack.

CWC is the real deal.

I honestly think it will be them and Summerland for the Championship.

That would mean Tri County Northeast would play Walthill for 3rd place.

I don't know what that would really do for the Wolfpack, but I do think a win over the Blujays would pave the way for a second half season run for Tri County Northeast.

I truly believe that the Wolfpack's best basketball is ahead of them.

Monday's game is scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m.

Winnebago Boys fall to Norfolk Catholic; Girls beat Knights

The Winnebago Boys lost 70-67 at home to Norfolk Catholic Tuesday night.

The Knights jumped out to a big lead early, going up 25-12 at the end of the 1st quarter.

Norfolk Catholic won the 2nd quarter 19-18 to take a 44-30 lead into the locker room.

Winnebago outscored the Knights 20-9 in the 3rd quarter to make it a 53-50 game at the end of three.

Both teams scored 17 points in the 4th quarter.

Great effort from Winnebago, they came up just short.

Winnebago finishes the pre-Christmas Holiday Schedule with a 3-3 record.

Winnebago is a good team.

They won their first 3 games, including a win over Walthill in that span.

It's just the schedule has gotten harder for Winnebago, and they've lost some close games.

Winnebago's 3 losses have come by a total of 13 points.

Winnebago is doing a lot right they just have a few small things to tweak.

Winnebago takes on Auburn (4-0) at the Great Northeast Nebraska Shootout at Wayne State Monday afternoon.

The Bulldogs won 59-23 at home over Freeman Tuesday night.

This is a loaded tournament on the boys side.

And honestly this matchup between Auburn and Winnebago could easily be a semifinal matchup.

This should be a great game and challenge for Winnebago.

Winnebago has to try and get out and run and push tempo and make Auburn play fast.

The Bulldogs will no doubt try and slow things down and play a half court, methodical game.

Winnebago has to try and take Auburn out of their game and force them to play fast.

Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at Rice Auditorium.

The Winnebago Girls won 53-35 at home over Norfolk Catholic Tuesday night.

The Knights led 11-9 at the end of 1st quarter. Winnebago won the 2nd quarter 12-10 to tie the game at 21 at halftime.

Winnebago turned things on in the 3rd quarter, outscoring Norfolk Catholic 16-6 to go up 37-27 at the end of three.

Winnebago doubled up the Knights 16-8 in the 4th quarter.

Great second half from Winnebago. That honestly might be what they need to get going.

Winnebago finishes the pre-Christmas Holiday Schedule with a 3-4 record.

Winnebago could easily be 5-2 right now they just had a couple of close losses to Adams Central and Oakland-Craig.

With that said, I was kind of expecting more from Winnebago to this point.

But the good news is Winnebago got things going in the second half against the Knights.

I think that could definitely lead to bigger things for Winnebago.

Winnebago faces Auburn (4-0) in the 1st round of the Great Northeast Nebraska Shootout at Wayne High Monday afternoon.

The Bulldogs won 64-28 at home over Mound City, MO Tuesday night.

I think if Winnebago can beat Auburn they will make the championship.

And Winnebago could definitely do it too, but I could also see Winnebago playing Homer and maybe like Laurel-Concord-Coleridge for 5th place on Wednesday.

Winnebago has to expect to win and has to aim for playing for the Championship on Wednesday, but just saying what I think could happen.

If Winnebago plays the way they did in the second half against Norfolk Catholic though they are going to be very difficult to beat.

Winnebago has to play that way consistently for 4 quarters.

If Winnebago does that then they could make a run.

Monday's game is scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m.

Pender Girls beat Stanton, lose to BRLD

The Pender Girls won 64-22 at Stanton on Saturday before losing 63-51 at BRLD Tuesday night.

The Pendragons led the Mustangs 17-9 at the end of the 1st quarter. Pender doubled up Stanton 16-8 in the 2nd quarter to take a 33-17 lead into the locker room.

The Pendragons outscored the Mustangs 17-2 in the 3rd quarter to go up 50-19 at the end of three.

Pender outscored Stanton 14-3 in the 4th quarter.

BRLD doubled up the Pendragons 12-6 in the 1st quarter. Both teams scored 17 points in the 2nd quarter, and the Wolverines led 29-23 at the half.

BRLD outscored Pender 19-11 in the 3rd quarter to increase their lead to 48-34 at the end of three.

The Pendragons won the 4th quarter 17-15.

Good win for Pender on Saturday.

The Pendragons finish the pre-Christmas Holiday Schedule with a 6-2 record.

Pender takes on Hartington Cedar Catholic (1-4) in the opening round of the Great Northeast Nebraska Shootout at Wayne High School Monday afternoon.

The Trojans lost 65-51 at Dakota Valley, SD Tuesday night.

Pender should be able to win this one fairly easily I would think.

Still though Cedar Catholic has a rich tradition and history, and will come to play no doubt.

A potential semifinal matchup on Tuesday looms with Pierce, and what a great and fantastic matchup that would be.

First things first though the Pendragons have to take care of business against the Trojans.

Game time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.

Stanton Boys lose to Wakefield and Wisner-Pilger; Girls fall to Trojans, Gators, and Pender

The Stanton Boys lost 60-40 at Wakefield Friday night before falling 67-46 at Wisner-Pilger Tuesday night.

The Trojans doubled up the Mustangs 16-8 in the 1st quarter. Stanton won the 2nd quarter 14-13 to make it a 29-22 game at halftime.

Wakefield outscored the Mustangs 31-18 in the second half.

Parker Krusemark and Adam Arens had 9 points apiece for Stanton.

The Mustangs went up 12-11 at the end of one. The Gators won the 2nd quarter 14-9 to pull ahead 25-21 at halftime.

Wisner-Pilger won the 3rd quarter 20-17 to increase their advantage to 45-38 at the end of three.

The Gators outscored Stanton 22-8 in the 4th quarter.

Strong first halfs for the Mustangs in both games, but things got away from Stanton in the second half both games.

The Mustangs finished their pre-Christmas Holiday Schedule at 1-6.

Stanton is not anywhere near where they want to be I'm sure, but there have been some bright spots for the Mustangs so far this season.

Stanton faces Hartington-Newcastle (1-6) at the Stanton Holiday Tournament Monday night.

The Wildcats lost 60-28 at Wakefield Tuesday night.

Hartington-Newscastle is a lot like the Mustangs in that there have been lots of struggles, but a couple of good games in there as well.

This game is pretty even on paper.

I give Stanton the advantage since they are at home.

It should be a good, close game that comes down to the wire.

On the other side of the bracket is Lutheran High Northeast (4-2) and West Holt (3-4).

Either of those teams figure to be tough for the Mustangs in their second game.

I would think LHNE would win this Holiday Tournament, but you never know.

I look for Stanton to play them in the championship at the very least.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. in Stanton.

The Stanton Girls lost 55-36 at Wakefield Friday night before falling 64-22 at home to Pender on Saturday. The Mustangs then fell 48-45 at Wisner-Pilger Tuesday night.

The Trojans got out to a 16-5 lead after one. Stanton outscored Wakefield 17-8 in the 2nd quarter to make it a 24-22 game at halftime.

Wakefield won the 3rd quarter 13-7 to go up 37-29 at the end of three.

The Trojans outscored Stanton 18-7 in the 4th quarter.

Kinley Polhman had a double-double of 13 points and 14 rebounds while Sylvia Cunningham notched 9 rebounds.

Bridgett Jensen had 7 rebounds for the Mustangs.

Three difficult losses for Stanton.

The Mustangs conclude the pre-Christmas Holiday Schedule with a 1-7 record.

Stanton hasn't had the success they were hoping for so far this year, but there's a lot of season left.

The Mustangs take on Hartington-Newcastle (3-4) in the first round of the Stanton Holiday Tournament on Monday.

The Wildcats lost 74-38 at Wakefield Tuesday night.

Other teams in this tournament are Lutheran High Northeast and West Holt.

I think the championship will be LHNE and Hartington-Newcastle.

I do think Stanton can beat West Holt if they play in the consolation game though.

But Mustangs have to shoot and aim for the championship and can't settle for 3rd place.

Stanton may very well play for 3rd place, but the Mustangs have to strive for 1st.

Game time on Monday is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in Stanton.

Wisner-Pilger Boys and Girls fall to Oakland-Craig and Wayne, beat Stanton

The Wisner-Pilger Boys lost 58-38 at Oakland-Craig last Thursday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull before falling 64-37 at Wayne Friday night. The Gators then won 67-46 at home over Stanton Tuesday night.

Oakland-Craig got out to a red hot start, taking an early 13-0 lead. Wisner-Pilger finally scored its first points of the game with 17 seconds left in the first quarter, making it 13-2.

The Gators came alive in the second quarter, scoring 15 points, but O-C led at halftime 29-17.

Wisner-Pilger opened the third quarter with a 7-0 scoring run, and would eventually cut their deficit to seven points, But O-C was able to pull away again, and led 41-30 after the third period.

The Knights then outscored the Gators 17-8 in the fourth.

Spencer Batenhorst had 10 points for Wisner-Pilger.

The Blue Devils went up 6-5 at the end of the 1st quarter, and outscored the Gators 21-10 in the 2nd quarter to take a 27-15 lead into the locker room.

Wayne won the 3rd quarter 16-10 to go up 43-25 at the end of three.

The Blue Devils outscored Wisner-Pilger 21-12 in the 4th quarter.

Good win over a rival after losing a couple of tough ones.

Wisner-Pilger concludes the pre-Christmas Holiday Schedule with a 3-3 record.

It has been a fairly decent start to the season for the Gators.

Wisner-Pilger is young and has a new coach so not bad all things considered.

The Gators take on Ponca (5-2) in the first round of the Wisner Holiday Tournament on Tuesday.

The Indians won 50-43 at Battle Creek Tuesday night.

On the other side is Neligh-Oakdale and Wakefield so Wisner-Pilger has two tough games on their hands regardless.

The Gators have to build off what they did against Stanton and pick things up.

Wisner-Pilger has to raise their level of play, and play great basketball next week.

Of course this tournament is weather permitting, but hopefully mother nature cooperates and doesn't dump a bunch of snow in the region.

That's not something we can control though so the Gators have to be ready for whatever situation presents itself.

In the meantime, the kids have to enjoy the time off with their families or whatever it is that they do during this pandemic, and have to do everything they can to remain healthy.

Tuesday's game is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m. in the Swamp.

The Wisner-Pilger Girls lost 55-38 at Oakland-Craig last Thursday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull before falling 55-42 at Wayne Friday night. The Gators then beat Stanton 48-45 at home Tuesday night.

In the Oakland-Craig game, both teams took a little while to get their scoring going, but O-C would eventually build a 10-2 lead, before Maggie Schweers converted a three-point play for the Gators as time expired in the quarter, making it 10-5.

The Knights outscored the Gators 19-8 in the second quarter, and Oakland-Craig led 29-13 at halftime.

Wisner-Pilger played an improved second half on offense, but Oakland-Craig still proved to be too much.

O-C led 41-23 after the third quarter. The Gators won the 4th quarter 15-14.

Lindsey Kneifl had 16 points for Wisner-Pilger.

The Blue Devils tripled up the Gators 12-4 in the 2nd quarter. Wayne won the 2nd quarter 13-10 to take a 25-14 lead into the locker room.

The Blue Devils won the 3rd quarter 11-8 to go up 36-22 at the end of three.

Wisner-Pilger won the 4th quarter 20-19.

Good job by the Gators beating Stanton and competing decently against both the Knights and Blue Devils.

Wisner-Pilger (2-4) takes on Ponca (8-0) in the Wisner-Pilger Holiday Tournament on Tuesday.

The Indians won 64-51 at Battle Creek Tuesday night.

A definite challenge in this one for the Gators.

On the other side is Wakefield and Neligh-Oakdale.

The Trojans are 5-2 while the Warriors have been very competitive at 1-5.

The Gators have their work cut out for them whoever they play on Wednesday.

This is a challenging tournament for Wisner-Pilger, but as a competitor you welcome any challenge.

The Gators have to play tough, and can't back down from whoever they play in this tournament whatsoever.

Game time on Tuesday is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at the Swamp.

Clarkson/Leigh Boys lose to Howells-Dodge, beat Columbus Lakeview; Girls defeat both

The Clarkson/Leigh Boys lost 66-35 at home to Howells-Dodge on Saturday before winning 42-33 at Columbus Lakeview Tuesday night.

Howells-Dodge went up 20-12 on the Patriots at the end of one. The Jaguars won the 2nd quarter 11-6 to take a 31-18 lead into the locker room.

Howells-Dodge won the 3rd quarter 13-8 to extend their lead to 44-26 at the end of three.

The Jaguars outscored Clarkson/Leigh 22-9 in the 4th quarter.

Mason Whitmore had a team-high 7 points while Carter Hanel totaled 8 rebounds.

The Patriots tripled up the Vikings 9-3 in the 1st quarter before outscoring Lakeview 13-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 22-10 lead into the locker room.

Clarkson/Leigh won the 3rd quarter 10-8 to extend their lead to 32-18 at the end of three.

The Vikings won the 4th quarter 15-10.

Kyle Kasik led the way with 21 points while Hanel registered 9 points and 12 rebounds. Trevor Zulkoski added 7 points.

Heck of a win for the Patriots over Lakeview.

Clarkson/Leigh is 3-4 heading into the Holiday Moratorium.

The Patriots are back in action on Monday when they battle Fillmore Central (0-6) at the Shelby-Rising City Holiday Tournament.

On the other side is Shelby-Rising City (2-4) and Arcadia/Loup City (3-3).

I feel like this tournament is wide open.

I think Clarkson/Leigh has a shot to win the tournament.

If the Patriots play the way they did on Tuesday then they can beat any of the teams in this tournament.

That win over Lakeview had to be a real confidence and moral booster for Clarkson/Leigh.

Now the Patriots have to build off of it and try and go win themselves a championship.

Game time is scheduled for 5:15 p.m.

The Clarkson/Leigh Girls held off Howells-Dodge 54-52 at home on Saturday before routing Columbus Lakeview 48-28 on the road Tuesday night.

The Jaguars led the Patriots 16-12 at the end of one. Clarkson/Leigh outscored Howells-Dodge 19-10 in the 2nd quarter to take a 31-26 lead into the locker room.

The Jaguars won the 3rd quarter 15-11 to make it a 42-41 game at the end of three.

The Patriots won the 4th quarter 12-11 to make up the final score.

Chloe Hanel had 19 points and 7 rebounds while Alissa Kasik totaled 11 points. Kayden Schumacher posted 8 points and 9 rebounds while Cassidy Hoffman had 8 points.

Clarkson/Leigh doubled up the Viqueens 14-7 in the 1st quarter, and outscored Lakeview 18-11 in the 2nd quarter to take a 32-18 lead into the locker room.

The Viqueens doubled up the Patriots 6-3 in the 3rd quarter to make it a 35-24 game at the end of three.

Clarkson/Leigh outscored Lakeview 13-4 in the 4th quarter.

Kennedy Settje led the way with 12 points while Hanel, Schumacher, and Faith Indra each had 9. Hoffman added 7.

Mighty impressive win for the Patriots on Tuesday.

Clarkson/Leigh is a perfect 8-0 heading into the Christmas Holiday Break, and is sitting atop the Wildcard Point Standings in Class C-2.

The Patriots have to be pretty happy with where they are right now, but have to keep going.

Clarkson/Leigh faces Fillmore Central (2-4) in the first round of the Shelby-Rising City Holiday Tournament on Monday.

On the other side of the bracket is Arcadia/Loup City (1-5) and Shelby-Rising City (3-4).

This tournament is honestly the Patriots' to lose, in my opinion.

Clarkson/Leigh won it last year, and I look for the Patriots to win it once again this year.

Clarkson/Leigh should have no trouble in either game I wouldn't think.

The Patriots should be 10-0 heading into the 2021 Calendar Year.

Game time is slated for 3:30 p.m.

BRLD Boys' 55-game winning streak snapped by Howells-Dodge; Girls 2-1 in last three games

The BRLD Boys had their 55-game winning streak halted by Howells-Dodge Friday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull as the Jaguars won 59-56 in double overtime from Howells.

Howells-Dodge had upset on their mind having handed BRLD their last loss in the 2018-2019 season, and history repeated itself Friday night.

The game was all BRLD early as the Wolverines led 13-8 at the end of the 1st quarter, and outscored Howells-Dodge 19-12 in the 2nd quarter to take a 32-20 lead into the locker room.

The Jaguars had a big 3rd quarter, outscoring BRLD 16-6 to make it a 38-36 game at the end of 3 with the Wolverines still leading.

Howells-Dodge won the 4th quarter 9-7 to tie the game at 45 at the end of regulation.

Both teams scored 8 points in the first overtime, and the game went into Double OT deadlocked at 53.

The Jaguars doubled up BRLD 6-3 in the second overtime.

The Wolverines were led by Dylan Beutler, who had a team-high 23 points. Lucas Vogt and Elliot Nottleman compiled 10 apiece in the losing effort for BRLD.

Credit Howells-Dodge for handing the Wolverines their last two defeats. I honestly didn't think the streak would come to an end on this night.

BRLD (3-1) takes on Nebraska City (1-5) and Louisville (6-2) at the Louisville Holiday Tournament on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.

This is definitely a step up in competition for the Wolverines.

BRLD is playing a couple of teams who in Nebraska City is a Class B School, and Louisville, who plays a lot of Class B Schools.

So the Wolverines have two huge challenges on their hands next week.

The good news is BRLD will have plenty of time to refocus and get the Howells-Dodge loss out of their system.

The Wolverines have to come out and play great basketball next week assuming the weather holds out and the games are played.

Things could get moved, altered, or cancelled due to the weather so we simply have to wait and see and hope for the best in this case.

The Nebraska City game is scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday with the Louisville game tipping off at 6:30 p.m. next Wednesday.

The BRLD Girls won 58-42 at Howells-Dodge Friday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull before losing 40-34 at home to Pierce on Saturday. The Wolverines then turned around and beat Pender 63-51 at home Tuesday night.

The Wolverines tripled up the Jaguars 15-5 in the 1st quarter and outscored them 15-9 in the 2nd quarter to take a 30-14 lead into the locker room.

Both teams scored 13 points in the 3rd quarter, and BRLD led 43-27 at the end of three.

Both teams scored 15 points in the 4th quarter.

Caragan Tietz led BRLD with a game-high 20 points while Jordan Snyder was also in double figures with 18. Alyssa Buchholz added 8.

The Wolverines led the Bluejays 12-9 after one. Pierce doubled up BRLD 14-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 23-19 lead into the locker room.

The Bluejays won the 3rd quarter 9-6 to extend their lead to 32-25 at the end of three.

The Wolverines won the 4th quarter 9-8.

A good way to finish the pre-Christmas Holiday Schedule for the Wolverines.

BRLD heads into Christmas with a 4-2 record.

The Wolverines pick up the action next week against Nebraska City (2-5) and Louisville (4-4) at the Louisville Holiday Tournament.

BRLD is set to play the Pioneers on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. and Lions at 5:00 p.m. next Wednesday.

I look for the Wolverines to do well in this tournament.

These are two teams BRLD should beat and two games they should win.

The Wolverines are going up against two bigger schools, but that shouldn't phase BRLD whatsoever.

The Wolverines have to be ready for the big stage, and I think they will be having had experience in different environments before.

It's a couple of matchups against different teams....teams BRLD never plays.

That has to make things fun, entertaining, and competitive for sure.

I have no doubt that the Wolverines will rise up to the challenge next week and play well as long as the tournament doesn't get cancelled because of the weather.

Oakland-Craig Boys and Girls beat Wisner-Pilger, Madison, and Omaha Nation

The Oakland-Craig Boys beat Wisner-Pilger 58-38 at home Thursday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull before winning 61-36 at home over Madison on Saturday, and 72-39 at home over Omaha Nation Tuesday night.

Oakland-Craig got out to a red hot start in the Wisner-Pilger game, taking an early 13-0 lead.

Gunnar Ray led all scorers with 21 points and Caden Nelson added 13 points and 7 rebounds. Jaron Meyer had 9 points and 9 rebounds while Coulter Thiele notched 8 points.

The Knights got out to a 20-7 lead on the Dragons at the end of one. Oakland-Craig outscored Madison 22-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 42-14 lead into the locker room.

The Dragons won the 3rd quarter 12-9 to make it a 51-26 game at the end of three.

Both teams scored 10 points in the 4th quarter.

Ray had 30 points and 8 rebounds to lead the way while Carson Thomsen totaled 12 points. Nelson added 8 while Thiele chipped in 7.

The Knights jumped on the Chiefs 31-6 at the end of one. Oakland-Craig outscored Omaha Nation 14-8 in the 2nd quarter to take a 45-14 lead into the locker room.

The Knights won the 3rd quarter 21-20 to lead 66-34 at the end of three.

Oakland-Craig won the 4th quarter 6-5.

Ray had a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds while Thiele registered 14 points. Nelson added 13 points and 7 rebounds while Thomsen totaled 11 points and 7 rebounds. Meyer added 10 points and 10 assists, good enough for a double-double.

Mighty impressive play from Oakland-Craig heading into the Christmas Holiday Moratorium.

The Knights are now 7-2 on the season having won 7 straight.

Oakland-Craig has a lot of momentum on their side and a lot of things going for them right now.

The Knights are scheduled to face Malcolm (2-4) and Wilber-Clatonia (6-1) at the Malcolm Holiday Tournament on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.

I feel as if Oakland-Craig will win both of these games.

This tournament is being done the way it is since it's in Lancaster County.

I think Centennial and Oakland-Craig would be the best matchup, but the two teams won't get to play one another.

Things are weather permitting too of course due to the winter storm that could hit the region next week.

But as of right now the Knights must have the mindset that they are going to play.

Oakland-Craig has to remain focused mentally during all of this.

Both games are scheduled to start at 3:45 p.m.

The Oakland-Craig Girls won 55-38 at home over Wisner-Pilger Thursday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull before beating Madison 48-8 at home on Saturday, and Omaha Nation 63-23 at home Tuesday night.

In the Wisner-Pilger game, both teams took a little while to get their scoring going, but O-C would eventually build a 10-2 lead, before Maggie Schweers converted a three-point play for the Gators as time expired in the quarter, making it 10-5.

The Knights outscored the Gators 19-8 in the second quarter, and Oakland-Craig led 29-13 at halftime.

Wisner-Pilger played an improved second half on offense, but Oakland-Craig still proved to be too much.

O-C led 41-23 after the third quarter. Wisner-Pilger won the 4th quarter 15-14.

Sadie Nelson led all scorers with 28 points while Sydney Guzinski added 9 points and 9 rebounds. Shea Johnson added 12 rebounds while Makenna Pearson notched 7.

Oakland-Craig went up 19-2 at the end of the 1st quarter on the Dragons, and outscored Madison 18-2 in the 2nd quarter to take a 37-4 lead into the locker room.

The Knights outscored the Dragons 9-2 in the 3rd quarter to go up 46-6 at the end of three.

Both teams scored 2 points in the 4th quarter.

Guzinski had 16 points while Nelson notched 14.

Oakland-Craig led the Chiefs 18-4 at the end of one, and outscored Omaha Nation 21-10 in the 2nd quarter to take a 39-14 lead into the locker room.

The Knights won the 3rd quarter 10-7 to lead 49-21 after three.

Oakland-Craig outscored the Chiefs 14-2 in the 4th quarter.

Nelson had 20 points to lead the way while Pearson notched 17 points and 16 rebounds, good enough for a double-double. Edie Anderson added 10 points while Guzinski posted 8. Johnson pulled down 10 rebounds.

Some feel good confidence boosting wins for the Knights.

Oakland-Craig heads into the Holiday Moratorium with a 5-3 record.

I'm sure the Knights feel they should be doing better, but given the fact that Chaney Nelson has missed time due to injury and Oakland-Craig has had to replace Kennedy Benne, they're doing okay.

I feel the way the team scored the ball and had multiple girls score Tuesday night is a promising sign moving forward.

The Knights are going to need that production given some of the juggernauts who are left on their schedule.

Oakland-Craig will face Malcolm (6-0) and Wilber-Clatonia (4-3) at the Malcolm Holiday Tournament on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.

That first game with the Clippers will be awfully tough.

Of course this tournament is weather permitting.

Malcolm has been consistent, but they've had some close calls.

If Oakland-Craig plays the way they did against Omaha Nation then they could definitely win.

Having Chaney Nelson back would be awesome, but who knows if the Knights will have her or not.

Either way this is a big time opportunity for Oakland-Craig to win a couple of big games.

Playing a good C-1 team in Malcolm definitely helps the Knights prepare for the types of teams they will face down the stretch.

Both games are scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m. in Malcolm.

North Bend Central Boys defeat Omaha Roncalli, lose to Milford; Girls roll Eagles

The North Bend Central Boys won 55-51 at Omaha Roncalli Friday night before falling 70-55 at home to Milford Tuesday night.

The Tigers led the Crimson Pride 11-8 at the end of the 1st quarter, and outscored Roncalli 13-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 24-15 lead into the locker room.

The Crimson Pride answered in the 3rd quarter, outscoring NBC 24-14 to pull ahead 39-38 at the end of three.

The Tigers won the 4th quarter 17-12.

North Bend Central got out to a 19-13 lead on the Eagles at the end of one. Milford won the 2nd quarter 15-10 to slice the deficit to 1 at 29-28 at halftime.

The Eagles doubled up the Tigers 18-9 in the 3rd quarter to go up 46-38 at the end of three.

Milford won the 4th quarter 24-17.

Tough setback for NBC.

The Tigers head into the five-day Holiday Moratorium with a 5-1 record.

It has been a solid start to the season for North Bend Central, who looks to keep things going in their own Holiday Tournament next week.

The Tigers open up with GACC (2-4).

The Bluejays lost 50-41 at Wayne Tuesday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.

The other two teams in the tournament are Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family and Omaha Concordia.

North Bend Central definitely has their work cut out for them if they make the championship.

Both the Bulldogs and Mustangs are very good and solid squads.

The Tigers definitely suffered a tough loss to the Eagles, but hopefully the setback will only make North Bend Central stronger.

The Tigers just have to take a deep breath and relax and be ready to get back out there and work extremely hard come next week.

North Bend Central has to bring lots of energy and must play with a lot of passion as well.

The GACC game is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. at Tiger Arena.

The North Bend Central Girls routed Milford 50-27 at home Tuesday night.

The Tigers jumped out to a 14-5 lead at the end of one. Both teams scored 6 points in the 2nd quarter, and the score was 20-11 at halftime in favor of North Bend Central.

The Tigers outscored the Eagles 14-6 in the 3rd quarter, and led 34-17 at the end of three.

North Bend Central won the 4th quarter 16-10.

Sydney Emanuel registered 21 points while Kaitlyn Emanuel and Cierra Kluthe recorded 12 apiece.

What a way to cap off the pre-Christmas Holiday Schedule if you are the Tigers.

North Bend Central heads into the Holiday Moratorium with a 5-0 record.

The Tigers are hosting their own Holiday Tournament next week.

Up first for North Bend Central is GACC (7-1).

The Bluejays won 68-25 at Wayne Tuesday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.

This is going to be the Tigers' biggest challenge of the season so far.

GACC is the perfect example of you know you're doing something right if you knock them off.

The Bluejays are one of the biggest powerhouses in the State year in and year out.

But North Bend Central is the defending Class C-1 State Champions and GACC is coming to their place.

This should be a very strong defensive oriented game with some solid offense as well.

The Tigers have to look to use their height advantage and get the ball inside.

North Bend Central has to get the ball down low and dominate the post.

Pound the rock inside, that's the Tigers' best chance for success, in my opinion.

The game will be played on Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. at Tiger Arena.

GACC Boys fall to Wayne; Girls blow out Norfolk Catholic and Wayne

The GACC Boys were in action on Tuesday at Wayne in action that was aired on 107.9 the Bull.

The game was close throughout, with Wayne leading 24-22 at halftime and 33-31 after the third. But Wayne outscored GACC 17-10 in the 4th quarter to win the game 50-41.

Ben Ulrich had 24 points for the Bluejays.

GACC came oh so close to winning, but couldn't quite get over the hump.

The Bluejays sit at 2-4 heading into the Holiday Moratorium.

GACC faces North Bend Central (5-1) in the first round of the North Bend Central Holiday Tournament on Tuesday.

That's weather permitting of course.

The field is loaded with Omaha Concordia and Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family on the other side of the bracket.

The Bluejays definitely have their work cut out for them in this tournament, but GACC has to go in there and fight hard and give things their best shot.

Ulrich needs to have a big game and must get some help from his teammates.

He can't be a one-man show for the Bluejays if they hope to win.

It takes a total and complete team effort to be successful, and GACC has to try and do what they can to increase their scoring production.

Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Tiger Arena.

The GACC Girls dominated Norfolk Catholic 76-36 on the road Saturday before waxing Wayne 68-25 on the road Tuesday night in action that was aired on 107.9 the Bull.

The Bluejays staked claim to a 14-4 lead at the end of one on the Knights, and outscored Norfolk Catholic 18-11 in the 3rd quarter to take a 32-15 lead into the locker room.

GACC outscored the Knights 26-16 in quarter number three, and the Bluejays held a 58-31 lead at the end of three.

GACC outscored Norfolk Catholic 18-5 in the 4th quarter.

Sophia Hass led the way with 18 points while Brenna Rief notched 13. Isabel Hass added 9.

GACC dominated the Wayne game, leading 22-4 after the first quarter and 44-9 at halftime, before coasting to the win.

Kassidy Kaup came off the bench to lead the Bluejays in Scoring with 16 points. Rief had 15. All 14 varsity players scored in the game for GACC.

Three very impressive and dominating wins to close out the pre-Christmas Holiday Schedule for the Bluejays following the setback to Crofton last Saturday.

GACC heads into the Holiday Moratorium with a 7-1 record.

The Bluejays have played great basketball so far this year.

GACC will meet its match on Tuesday though when the Bluejays face defending Class C-1 State Champion North Bend Central in the North Bend Central Holiday Tournament.

The Tigers rolled Milford 50-27 at home Tuesday night.

NBC is very tall, athletic, and long.

I think it's key for GACC to work the ball around for good shots, and play good, strong fundamental basketball.

This might be an even tougher test than Crofton for the Bluejays.

It should be one heck of a game with a lot of talent and outstanding basketball players on the floor for both teams.

On the other side you have Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family and Omaha Concordia, but honestly the winner of GACC and North Bend should win the Tournament.

Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. at Tiger Arena.

Tekamah-Herman Boys and Girls lose to Logan View/Scribner-Snyder and Arlington

The Tekamah-Herman Boys lost 63-48 at Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Thursday night, and 53-22 at home to Arlington on Saturday.

The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder game was tied at 12 at the end of one. The Raiders doubled up the Tigers 14-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 26-19 lead into the locker room.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder outscored Tekamah-Herman 23-10 in the 3rd quarter to increase their edge to 49-29 at the end of three.

The Tigers won the 4th quarter 19-14.

Tough loss on Saturday after playing so well against the Raiders.

Tekamah-Herman is 2-5 heading into the Holiday Moratorium.

I think Tekamah-Herman is where they want to be right now in terms of the program as a whole.

The Tigers are much improved and better.

Tekamah-Herman could still be more consistent, but overall things look promising and the Tigers have to be pretty happy with where they are as a whole as a program.

Tekamah-Herman takes on Elgin Public/Pope John (3-5) in the first round of the Madison Holiday Tournament on Monday.

The Wolfpack lost 58-55 at home to Creighton Monday night.

Madison (2-4) and Riverside (3-4) are the other two teams in this tournament.

I think this tournament is anyone's for the taking.

I feel like the Tigers are the best team in this tournament though.

Anything can happen, but I feel like if Tekamah-Herman plays up to their potential they will win this tournament.

The Tigers have to find a way to be consistent though.

Tekamah-Herman has to do everything they can to shoot on their own during the moratorium.

That might be easier said than done due to the pandemic, but the Tigers have to do what they can.

Monday's game is scheduled to start at 4:15.

The Tekamah-Herman Girls lost 54-42 at Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Thursday night before falling 52-42 at Arlington on Saturday.

The Raiders led 12-7 after one, and won the 2nd quarter 13-12 to take a 25-19 lead into the locker room.

LVSS won the 3rd quarter 13-11 to extend their lead to 38-30 at the end of three.

The Raiders outscored the Tigers 16-12 in the 4th quarter.

The Eagles doubled up Tekamah-Herman 16-8 in the 1st quarter. The Tigers won the 2nd quarter 9-6 to make it a 22-17 game at halftime.

Arlington outscored Tekamah-Herman 15-9 in the 3rd quarter to increase their lead to 37-26 at the end of three.

The Tigers won the 4th quarter 16-15.

A couple of losses for Tekamah-Herman to a couple of solid teams.

The Tigers head into the five-day moratorium with a 2-5 record.

Tekamah-Herman started the season slow, but I think the Tigers have improved since dropping their first 3 games of the season.

Tekamah-Herman faces Elgin Public/Pope John (5-2) in the first round of the Madison Holiday Tournament on Monday.

The Wolfpack lost 52-44 at home to Creighton Monday night.

EPPJ has a solid record, but I don't think they've faced the caliber of competition that the Tigers have.

This should be a good game, and I feel like Tekamah-Herman can win.

Other teams in this tournament are Riverside (0-1) and Madison (2-4).

The Chargers just got their season started after having a bunch of games postponed.

I think the winner of Tekamah-Herman and Elgin Public/Pope John will win the Championship.

The Tigers have to work really hard and really strive to win on Monday.

Tekamah-Herman has a big opportunity in front of them, and has to go in there and really want it more than the Wolfpack.

Both Tiger teams beat EPPJ last year and won the Championship over Madison.

I think history could repeat itself this year, but Tekamah-Herman has to play well and has to really want it.

The Tigers have to build on the positives of the last four games, and find new and different ways to keep improving.

Tip-off on Monday is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys and Girls beat Tekamah-Herman

The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys downed Tekamah-Herman 63-48 at home Thursday night.

The game was tied at 12 at the end of one.

Garrett Kriete had a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds while Connor Larson added 18 points. Riley Hoetfelker scored 11 while Brett Uhing registered 12 rebounds.

Good way to cap off the pre-Christmas Holiday Schedule for the Raiders.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder (5-1) faces Omaha Brownell Talbot (1-5) in the first round of the Fort Calhoun Holiday Tournament next Tuesday.

Brownell Talbot has lost to some good teams, and fell 67-52 at Louisville on Saturday.

You know Brownell Talbot will come ready to play so so does Logan View/Scribner-Snyder.

LVSS just has to play their game and play the way they have so far this season.

If Logan View/Scribner-Snyder does that then they should be just fine.

On the other side is the host Pioneers and Elmwood-Murdock.

This tournament is Logan View/Scribner-Snyder's to lose, in my opinion.

I don't think any of the three other teams will beat LVSS.

I feel Logan View/Scribner-Snyder will walk away from this tournament as champions.

Next Tuesday's game is scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m.

The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Girls won 54-42 at home over Tekamah-Herman Thursday night.

Sophia Vacha had 19 points and 8 rebounds while Cadynce Stockamp added 9 points and 7 rebounds. Valerie Uehling added 8 points and 8 rebounds while Josie Kahlandt totaled 8 points. Cailey Stout and Kaitlin Mundil added 7 rebounds apiece.

Lots of great activity on both ends of the floor for LVSS in this one.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder heads into the Holiday Moratorium with a 4-2 record.

It has been a very solid start to the season for the Raider Girls.

LVSS takes on Omaha Brownell Talbot (0-5) in the opening round of the Fort Calhoun Holiday Tournament next Tuesday.

Brownell Talbot lost 56-35 at home to Mead Friday night.

Fort Calhoun (2-4) and Elmwood-Murdock (3-3) are the other two teams in the tournament.

Both of those teams are respectable, but I think Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has a legit chance to win this Tournament.

LVSS has improved so much from last year.

The Raiders are having a nice season so far this year, and have to keep it up.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has to remain hungry and has to want more.

The Raiders should be very proud and happy about what they have accomplished and done so far this season, but they can't be satisfied.

Complacency can't set in for LVSS, the Raiders have to want more.

I think Logan View/Scribner-Snyder will want more and I think the Raiders are going to win this tournament.

It would be a tremendous accomplishment if it happened, and if it does LVSS will be 6-2 heading into the new Calendar year.

Next Tuesday's game is set to tip-off at 11:30 a.m.

Howells-Dodge Boys end BRLD's 55-game winning streak, beat Clarkson/Leigh; Girls lose to both

The Howells-Dodge Boys ended BRLD's 55-game winning streak, upsetting the Wolverines 59-56 at home in overtime Friday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull before winning 66-35 at Clarkson/Leigh on Saturday.

The Jaguars had upset on their mind having handed BRLD their last loss in the 2018-2019 season, and history repeated itself Friday night.

Blake Sindelar poured in 40 points for Howells-Dodge, which led all scorers. RJ Bayer added a dozen while Lance Brester chipped in 7.

Two great wins for Howells-Dodge.

The Jaguars (4-4) battle Cornerstone Christian (3-1) at the Mead Holiday Tournament on Monday.

The Cougars beat Elba 38-29 at home Friday night.

Cornerstone Christian has a good record, but they haven't faced the caliber of competition that Howells-Dodge has.

The other side of the bracket is toughest with Mead and Osceola.

The Raiders are 3-1 and the Bulldogs are 6-0.

With that said, Howells-Dodge can definitely win this tournament if they play the way they have lately.

The Jaguars are playing their best basketball of the season right now, and come into this tournament with a lot of momentum.

We'll see how much the five-day moratorium slows Howells-Dodge down if it does at all.

I kind of think the moratorium comes at an inopportune time for the Jaguars, but I could see Howells-Dodge simply picking up where left off last week.

Hopefully that's the case anyways.

Game time is set for 2:30 p.m.

The Howells-Dodge Girls lost 58-42 at home to BRLD Friday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull before losing 54-52 at Clarkson/Leigh on Saturday.

Blair Fiala had a team-high 11 points for the Jaguars while Abbey Pieper notched 8 and Janessa Schmidt 7.

Fiala led the way with 16 points while Riley Pokhorny notched 15. Jaedyn Ratzlaff added 9 while Schmidt posted 7. Pieper chipped in 7 rebounds.

Nice bounce back effort by Howells-Dodge on Saturday.

The Jaguars enter the Holiday Moratorium at 3-5 and on a three-game losing streak.

Howells-Dodge takes part in the Mead Holiday Tournament on Monday and Tuesday of next week.

First up for the Jaguars is Cornerstone Christian (3-1).

The Cougars beat Elba 45-32 at home Friday night.

Mead beat Cornerstone Christian 44-23 earlier this season.

The other team on the other side is Osceola.

I think Howells-Dodge will play the Raiders for the Championship.

And if that matchup happens, I think the Jaguars have a legit shot to win this Holiday Tournament.

Howells-Dodge had a couple of tough games last week, but has to be encouraged by the way they played on Saturday.

I look for the five-day moratorium to freshen up and rejuvenate the Jaguars.

I look for Howells-Dodge to bounce back in a big way next week.

I really feel as if the Jaguars have a good chance to get back to .500 heading into the New Year if they play the way they did against the Patriots.

Monday's game is slated to start at 1:00 p.m.

West Point-Beemer Boys and Girls fall to Columbus Scotus

The West Point-Beemer Boys lost 62-43 at home to Columbus Scotus on Saturday.

Another tough loss for the Cadets.

West Point-Beemer heads into their own Holiday Tournament with a 1-5 record.

The Cadets face Wynot (5-2) in their own Holiday Tournament on December 29th.

The Blue Devils won 50-49 at Randolph on Saturday.

Wynot has a good record, but none of their wins have been over top teams.

I think West Point-Beemer can definitely regroup and win this one next Tuesday.

The challenge will be being sharp following the five-day moratorium.

That's always a challenge, but add in COVID-19 to the mix, and it's even more of a challenge.

So certainly a couple of challenges for the Cadets to overcome, but challenges they can definitely meet and exceed.

West Point-Beemer has to enjoy the time off, but be ready to rock and roll as soon as play resumes.

Tip-off is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.

The West Point-Beemer Girls lost 51-41 at home to Columbus Scotus on Saturday.

The Shamrocks led 15-14 after one, and outscored the Cadets 17-8 in the 2nd quarter to take a 32-22 lead into the locker room.

West Point-Beemer won the 3rd quarter 13-9 to go up 45-31 at the end of three.

Scotus won the 4th quarter 10-6.

Reece Snodgrass had 11 points while Rachel Groth and Sidney Swanson totaled 9 and 7, respectively.

Tough loss to a good team for the Cadets.

West Point-Beemer heads into the Holiday Break with a 4-2 record.

The Cadets battle Wynot (6-1) in the first round of their Holiday Tournament next Tuesday.

The Blue Devils won 62-39 at home over Bloomfield Monday night.

Wynot is legit and the real deal.

On the other side of the bracket is Humphrey St. Francis and Crofton.

This is a loaded Holiday Tournament on the Girls side, and West Point-Beemer has to be ready.

The Cadets have to get in the gym and shoot on their own during the five-day moratorium period if at all possible.

That on top of dealing with COVID-19 might be pretty tough, but West Point-Beemer has to do what they can.

The loss to Scotus had to be disappointing, and three more tough teams are coming in.

It's not time for the Cadets to panic by any means, but West Point-Beemer has to play with a bit of a sense of urgency and has to step things up in this tournament.

The Cadets are playing tougher competition than they have in the past, and so West Point-Beemer has to raise their level of play.

Next Tuesday's game is scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m.

Winnebago Boys 0-2 in last two games; Girls 0-3 in last three

The Winnebago Boys lost 42-38 at home to Adams Central on Saturday before falling 70-64 at home to Oakland-Craig Tuesday night.

Winnebago led the Patriots 5-4 after one. Adams Central outscored Winnebago 16-9 in the 2nd quarter to pull in front 21-13 at halftime.

Winnebago won the 3rd quarter 10-7 to make it a 28-23 game at the end of three.

The Patriots won the 4th quarter 15-14.

Winnebago got out to a 20-19 lead on Oakland-Craig at the end of one. The Knights won the 2nd quarter 17-13 to go up 36-33 at halftime.

Winnebago won the 3rd quarter 22-19 to tie the game at 55 at the end of three.

Oakland-Craig outscored Winnebago 15-9 in the 4th quarter.

A pair of tough losses for Winnebago.

Winnebago (3-2) plays host to Norfolk Catholic (3-2) Tuesday night.

The Knights won 80-60 at Lutheran High Northeast Tuesday night.

Winnebago has to regroup after a couple of tough back-to-back losses.

Winnebago has been hit with some adversity so it will be interesting to see how they respond Tuesday night.

Winnebago has to take the weekend and regather and collect themselves so to speak.

Winnebago has to regroup and be ready to go Tuesday night.

Winnebago has to come out and play with lots of energy and be refreshed and ready to roll.

Winnebago has to come out and play with fire, passion, pride, toughness, and grit.

Winnebago has to play with the heart of a champion and ball out Tuesday night.

The Winnebago Girls lost 58-54 at home to Adams Central on Saturday before falling 56-50 at home to Oakland-Craig Tuesday night. Winnebago then lost 78-35 at home to GACC Thursday night.

The Patriots went up 15-8 after one, and won the 2nd quarter 15-10 to take a 30-18 lead into the locker room.

Adams Central won the 3rd quarter 13-12 to increase their edge to 43-30 at the end of three.

Winnebago outscored the Patriots 24-15 in the 4th quarter.

Keisha Snyder had 28 points and 12 rebounds, good enough for a double-double. Natasha Deal added 15 points.

The Knights jumped out on Winnebago 17-9 after the 1st quarter, and won the 2nd quarter 11-9 to take a 28-18 lead into the locker room.

Winnebago won the 3rd quarter 14-12 to make it a 40-32 game at the end of three.

Winnebago won the 4th quarter 18-16.

Snyder had 22 points and 16 rebounds, good enough for a double-double. Maddy Cleveland and Sylvia Valentino totaled 10 points apiece.

GACC led Winnebago 17-13 after one before winning the 2nd quarter 13-9 to take a 30-22 lead into the locker room.

The Bluejays outscored Winnebago 28-12 in the 3rd quarter to increase their lead to 58-34 at the end of three.

GACC outscored Winnebago 20-1 in the 4th quarter.

Tough stretch of games for Winnebago.

Winnebago (2-4) plays host to Norfolk Catholic (2-3) Tuesday night.

The Knights won 64-28 at home over Lutheran High Northeast Thursday night.

Winnebago gets Norfolk Catholic at a time when the Knights are playing well.

Winnebago lost a couple of tough close games and then things got away from them in the 2nd half against GACC.

Winnebago has to regroup and refocus as they get ready for Tuesday's game.

Winnebago can't let their past struggles define them this season.

Winnebago has to find a way to fight and bounce back Tuesday night.

Winnebago has to put the past three losses behind them.

Winnebago might still be upset about the losses right now, but perhaps when next week rolls around they will be fine.

It's the last game for Winnebago before Christmas so Winnebago has to come out and play and perform well.

Clarkson/Leigh Boys lose to BRLD; Girls beat Wolverines and David City

The Clarkson/Leigh Boys lost 73-36 at home to BRLD last Friday night.

The Patriots jumped out to a 17-16 lead at the end of one before the Wolverines outscored Clarkson/Leigh 22-2 in the 2nd quarter to take a 38-19 lead at halftime.

BRLD outscored the Patriots 17-9 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 55-28 at the end of three.

The Wolverines outscored Clarkson/Leigh 18-8 in the 4th quarter.

Carter Hanel had 11 points and 7 rebounds while Trevor Zulkoski and Kyle Kasik notched 9 points apiece. Eli Hays added 7.

The Patriots played well early against BRLD.

Clarkson/Leigh (2-3) plays host to Howells-Dodge (3-4) on Saturday.

The Jaguars upset BRLD 59-56 in Double Overtime at home Friday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull, snapping the Wolverines' 55-game winning streak.

This game figures to be close and competitive given the fact that these two are rivals.

You have to wonder about an emotional letdown for Howells-Dodge.

You can throw the records out when these two get together as anything can happen.

I look for the Patriots to come out and play well and inspired on Saturday.

Clarkson/Leigh did well for a quarter against BRLD, and has to play that way for 4 quarters against Howells-Dodge.

If the Patriots do that then they could very well win.

Clarkson/Leigh has to play out of their minds and execute to perfection.

If the Patriots can turn in a masterful performance then they could very well find themselves on top on the Scoreboard.

There are no moral victories in this one for Clarkson/Leigh as you want to win anytime you face a rival.

The Clarkson/Leigh Girls won 38-31 at home over BRLD last Friday night before defeating David City 38-30 at home Tuesday night.

The Wolverines led 6-5 at the end of the 1st quarter. The Patriots won the 2nd quarter 13-10 to take an 18-16 lead into the locker room.

The Wolverines won the 4th quarter 12-11.

Kennedy Settje had 14 points while Cassidy Hoffman totaled 10 points and 15 rebounds, good enough for a double-double. Kayden Schumacher added 7 rebounds.

The Patriots jumped out to an 11-4 lead on the Scouts at the end of one. Both teams scored 5 points in the 2nd quarter, and the score was 16-9 at halftime.

David City won the 3rd quarter 13-12 to make it a 28-22 game at the end of three.

Clarkson/Leigh won the 4th quarter 10-8.

Clarkson/Leigh (6-0) plays host to Howells-Dodge (3-4) on Saturday.

The Jaguars lost 58-42 at home to BRLD Friday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.

This is a rivalry game and things are always close when these two teams get together.

You can throw the records out in this one.

I fully expect things to be super tight throughout, but I do think the Patriots will win a close game.

Clarkson/Leigh has to play a great game and play in your face, tight, and suffocating defense.

The Patriots have to get after things on both ends of the floor and let their defense transition and lead to their offense.

Clarkson/Leigh has to get amped and fired up for this one, and must be locked in from start to finish.

Anything can happen in a rivalry game, and the Patriots have to make sure they bring their "A" game on Saturday.

This game figures to be a huge opportunity for the Bluejays to do something and make a statement.

GACC has created some momentum with a couple of wins and has overcome their slow start to the season.

Now we'll see if the Bluejays can do even better Tuesday night.

GACC has improved since the start of the season, now we'll see if the Bluejays can take more steps Tuesday night.

This game with Wayne will be a definite challenge for GACC, but there's no doubt the Bluejays can do well and succeed in this ball game.

GACC has to keep playing hard and must keep improving and getting better.

Confidence has to be growing for the Bluejays, and that should help them continue to raise their level of play.

Should be a fun one on the Bull Tuesday night.

Dominate wins the past two Thursdays for GACC.

The Bluejays (5-1) take on Norfolk Catholic (2-3) on the road Saturday.

The Knights routed Lutheran High Northeast 64-28 at home Thursday night.

Norfolk Catholic is a good team and has played a tough schedule.

I fully expect the Knights to battle and compete hard against GACC.

I think the game will be close, but feel the Bluejays will find a way to win.

GACC has to come ready to play like they always do.

The Bluejays have to execute their offense and play tough in your face pressure defense.

GACC has to be on top of their game on Saturday, and must play a complete four quarter game.

The Bluejays have to be sharp offensively and must play smart defensively.

GACC has to play with lots of emotion and passion.

The Bluejays must have the drive, determination, and will to win and do well.
