West Point-Beemer Boys fall to North Bend Central and Howells-Dodge; Girls split

The West Point-Beemer Boys lost 63-31 at North Bend Central last Thursday night in action that was aired on 107.9 the Bull before falling 44-40 at home to Howells-Dodge Tuesday night.

In the North Bend Central Game, defense was the name of the game through the first 3 quarters as nobody could buy a bucket.

The Tigers led 8-5 at the end of the 1st quarter and 18-10 at halftime.

North Bend Central won the 3rd quarter 15-11 to extend their lead to 33-21 at the end of three.

The Tigers tripled up the Cadets 30-10 in the 4th quarter to win 63-31.

Riley Penrose and Miguel Perez each had 9 points in the loss for West Point-Beemer.

The Jaguars got out to a 13-5 lead on the Cadets at the end of one. West Point-Beemer won the 2nd quarter 12-9 to make it a 22-17 game at halftime.

Howells-Dodge won the 3rd quarter 11-10 to extend their lead to 33-27 at the end of three.

The Cadets won the 4th quarter 13-11.

Outside of the 4th quarter against the Tigers, West Point-Beemer was there against both teams.

The Cadets (1-4) host Columbus Scotus (1-3) on Saturday.

The Shamrocks lost 76-52 at home to Omaha Concordia Tuesday night.

Scotus may be 1-3, but they have played a very difficult schedule.

The Shamrocks' lone win was a 61-42 decision over GACC last Tuesday.

Scotus will try and make it two wins in West Point in the same season.

The Cadets have to come out and play well and strong for four quarters.

West Point-Beemer has to focus on finishing the game this time.

The Cadets were right there on both last Thursday and on Tuesday, they just weren't able to make enough plays to win either game.

Perhaps that will change on Saturday and West Point-Beemer will win.

The West Point-Beemer Girls fell 63-38 at North Bend Central last Thursday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull before routing Howells-Dodge 64-37 at home Tuesday night.

The Tigers got out to a 14-10 lead at the end of one. NBC won the 2nd quarter 14-12 to take a 28-22 lead into the locker room.

The Tigers led 35-24 in the 3rd quarter after going on an 11-2 run.

North Bend Central held a 43-31 advantage at the end of the 3rd quarter, and outscored the Cadets 20-7 in the 4th quarter to secure the 63-38 win.

Sidney Swanson had 22 points to lead all scorers, including 18 in the 1st half.

Swanson had 16 points against the Jaguars while Reece Snodgrass totaled 14. Jadyn Meiergerd totaled 13 while Rachel Groth had a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds. Brooklyn Weddle notched 9 points and 9 rebounds.

Great bounce back performance from West Point-Beemer Tuesday night.

The Cadets (4-1) host Columbus Scotus (2-2) on Saturday.

The Shamrocks won 48-20 at home over Omaha Concordia Tuesday night.

West Point-Beemer will try and make it two losses in West Point for Scotus as GACC beat the Shamrocks 56-43 last Tuesday.

I thought the Cadets did a great job of sharing the wealth Tuesday night.

Swanson was kind of a one woman show last Thursday, but more players got involved for West Point-Beemer Tuesday night.

That's something that needs to continue for the Cadets to be successful.

West Point-Beemer has to keep getting balanced scoring production to keep performing well.

It's something the Cadets can definitely continue to do and get too.

West Point-Beemer has all the capability in the World of knocking off the Shamrocks on Saturday, now all the Cadets have to do is go out there and simply do it and get the job done.
