Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys start season 2-0; Girls start 1-1

The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys won 55-46 at home over Oakland-Craig Thursday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull before downing Twin River 62-30 at home on Saturday.

LV/SS led the Knights 11-9 at the end of the first quarter.

Oakland-Craig had a strong surge to close out the second quarter, where they outscored the Raiders 23-11. The Knights led 32-22 at halftime.

LV/SS scored the first three points of the second half, before O-C answered with three in a row, putting them back up by 10 at 35-25. But those were the only three points that O-C would score in the quarter, and LV/SS closed the gap, down just 35-31 heading into the fourth.

The Raiders came out big in the fourth quarter, getting 14 points from Garrett Kriete, while they also made 12 free throws. LV/SS outscored O-C 24-11 in the fourth, winning the game 55-46.

Kriete had 20 points and 1 rebounds, good enough for a double-double for the Raiders, along with 11 points for Jayden Korman and 10 for Connor Larson. Riley Hoetfelker added 7 rebounds.

LVSS jumped out on the Titans 20-3 at the end of the 1st quarter. Twin River won the 2nd quarter 13-10 to make it a 30-16 game at halftime.

The Raiders outscored the Titans 13-3 in the 3rd quarter to lead 43-19 at the end of three.

LVSS won the 4th quarter 19-11.

Kriete had a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds while Hoetfelker had a double-double of his own with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Very solid start to the season for the Raiders.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder (2-0) hosts Wahoo (1-1) Thursday night.

The Warriors won 59-36 at home over Aurora Friday night.

This is a father and son coaching matchup with Jake Scheef going up against his father Kevin Scheef.

Wahoo is always good and has played a very challenging schedule so far.

I totally expect the Raiders to hold their own and compete well in this one though.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has to slow things down and control pace.

The Raiders can't get into a track meet with the Warriors and let Wahoo get out and run.

LVSS has to play to win and must expect to win.

Kriete has to have a huge game and has to be a factor on both ends of the floor.

The game being at home is an advantage for the Raiders I feel.

Can LVSS finally get over the hump and beat Wahoo? It won't be easy, but it can definitely happen.

Should be a heck of a game.

The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Girls fell 68-37 at home to Oakland-Craig Thursday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull before beating Twin River 52-32 at home on Saturday.

The Oakland-Craig game was close early, with the teams trading buckets quickly, before they both went a little cold towards the end of the first quarter, and O-C led 16-10 after one.

The Knights went off for 22 points in the second quarter and took a 38-22 lead in halftime.

Oakland-Craig then outscored LV/SS 18-2 in the third quarter, leading 56-24 at the end of the third quarter.

The Raiders outscored the Knights 13-12 in the fourth quarter, but O-C won the game 68-37.

Grace Schlueter was the lone player in double figures for LV/SS with 12 points. She also had 12 rebounds to earn a double-double. Valerie Uehling added 8 points while Sophia Vacha totaled 7.

LVSS tripled up the Titans 15-5 in the 1st quarter. The Raiders outscored Twin River 11-6 in the 2nd quarter to take a 26-11 lead into the locker room.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder won the 3rd quarter 15-14 to go up 41-25 at the end of three.

The Raiders took the 4th quarter 11-7.

Josie Kahlandt led all scorers with 15 points. Schlueter had 11 points and 8 rebounds while Vacha posted 10 points and 7 rebounds. Uehling chipped in 10 points.

Good job by Logan View/Scribner-Snyder bouncing back on Saturday following the loss on Thursday to Oakland-Craig.

The Raiders (1-1) travel to Yutan to take on the Chieftains (0-2) Thursday night.

Yutan lost 30-28 to Omaha Duchesne at the Nebraska City Lourdes Tournament on Saturday.

I think Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has a great chance to win this one and improve to 2-1 on the season.

The game being in Yutan is a definite challenge for the Raiders, but LVSS can definitely succeed.

Kahlandt, Uehling, Schlueter, and Vacha all need to perform at a high level for the Raiders.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has to go into Yutan expecting to come away with a win.

I look for things to be low scoring and defensive.

I feel like the game will be a lot like the Chieftains' game on Saturday at least from a scoring standpoint.

I think the Raiders have a good chance to win this one based on offensive numbers from the first two games for both teams.

Going on the road and tasting victory would be so sweet for LVSS no matter how it comes.

The Raiders can definitely do it too, and a win like this would be huge when you talk about building your program.
