Howells-Dodge Boys and Girls split with Oakland-Craig and West Point-Beemer

The Howells-Dodge Boys fell 57-48 at home to Oakland-Craig on Saturday in action aired on 107.9 the Bull before winning 44-40 at West Point-Beemer Tuesday night.

The Jaguars came out strong against the Knights, going up 16-8 after the 1st quarter, and held a 19-8 lead early in the 2nd quarter.

The Knights then battled back and kept chipping away, eventually cutting the deficit to 3 at halftime, which saw Howells-Dodge lead 26-23.

Oakland-Craig eventually came back and took the lead, and found themselves up 38-32 at the end of three after outscoring the Jaguars 15-6 in the 3rd quarter.

The Knights then won the 4th quarter 19-16 to seal the win.

Blake Sindelar led all scorers with 26 points while RJ Bayer added 17 as the two scored 43 of the team's 48 points.

The Jaguars got out to a 13-5 lead on the Cadets at the end of one. West Point-Beemer won the 2nd quarter 12-9 to make it a 22-17 game at halftime.

Howells-Dodge won the 3rd quarter 11-10 to extend their lead to 33-27 at the end of three.

The Cadets won the 4th quarter 13-11.

Good start to the game for the Jaguars on Saturday, and a nice bounce back win Tuesday night.

Howells-Dodge (2-4) hosts BRLD (3-0) Friday night in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.

The Wolverines won 73-36 at Clarkson/Leigh Friday night.

BRLD is a great team and program, having won back-to-back State Championships.

These two teams met twice in the regular season in 2018-2019, including once at State.

The Jaguars also happened to beat the Wolverines that season, the last time BRLD lost.

So Howells-Dodge is the last team to beat the Wolverines.

BRLD has won 55 games in a row, and will look to keep the streak alive come Friday night.

I fully expect the Jaguars to do well in this game and give the Wolverines all they can handle and then some.

It's always a great battle when these two teams get together, and this game is no different.

The Howells-Dodge Girls upset Oakland-Craig 48-29 at home on Saturday in action aired on 107.9 the Bull before falling 64-37 at West Point-Beemer Tuesday night.

In the Oakland-Craig game, both teams struggled to get into an offensive rhythm early as both teams went about half the quarter without scoring a point. Howells-Dodge then hit a free throw and led 1-0 for a period of time in the 1st quarter. Eventually though Oakland-Craig's Sadie Nelson got the Knights going, scoring all 7 team points in the quarter to give the Knights a 7-6 advantage after one.

Both teams picked up the scoring in the 2nd quarter as the Jaguars put up 15 points, including 6 from Cassie Pieper, who had all 6 Howells-Dodge first quarter points, and scored 12 of her team-high 13 points in the 1st half.

Howells-Dodge led 21-18 at halftime.

The Knights went cold in the 2nd half, only scoring 11 total points in the final 16 minutes, including just 4 in the 3rd quarter.

The Jaguars took advantage, outscoring Oakland-Craig 14-4 in the 3rd quarter to lead 35-22 after three, and 13-7 in the 4th quarter to make up the final score.

In addition to Pieper's 13 points, Jaedyn Ratlzaff was also in double figures with 10 for Howells-Dodge.

Great win for Howells-Dodge on Saturday, but a tough setback Tuesday night.

The Jaguars (3-3) host BRLD (2-1) Friday night in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.

The Wolverines lost 38-31 at Clarkson/Leigh Friday night.

Tough loss for BRLD, who had been sizzling to that point.

The Wolverines were hit with some adversity against the Patriots, and will be looking to bounce back against the Jaguars.

If Howells-Dodge plays the way they did on Saturday they could very well win, but if things go the way they did Tuesday night then it could be a really tough night for the Jaguars.

I think a lot of it depends on how BRLD plays and responds too.

The Wolverines are coming off a loss and have had an entire week to think about and digest it.

It will be interesting to see how both teams respond following tough losses.

Both teams should be able to bounce back just fine I would think.

I don't think each team's last game will affect their play Friday night.

Could be a close game I think or BRLD could win big I feel.

Tip-off from Howells is set for 6:00 p.m. on the Bull.
