Tri County Northeast Boys beat Hartington-Newcastle; Girls come up just short

The Tri County Northeast Boys won 48-45 at Hartington-Newscastle Tuesday night.

The game was tied at 10 at the end of one before the Wolfpack outscored the Wildcats 13-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 23-17 lead into the locker room.

Tri County Northeast won the 3rd quarter 13-12 to increase their advantage to 36-29 at the end of three.

Hartington-Newcastle won the 4th quarter 16-12.

Steven Sullivan had 10 points to lead the way while Mason Hall and Ryan Kinnaman totaled 9 and 8, respectively.

Good win for the Wolfpack.

Tri County Northeast (2-2) plays host to Winside (0-5) Thursday night.

The Wildcats lost 43-18 at St. Ed Tuesday night.

This should be an easy win for the Wolfpack, but the real challenge lies on Friday against Ponca.

The Indians are very solid once again, and they beat Hartington-Newscastle by 15.

Tri County Northeast can worry about and focus on Ponca come Friday though.

Right now and on Thursday the focus has to be on Winside.

Respect must be shown for every opponent no matter how big it appears you are going to beat them.

With that said, the Wolfpack has to get out to a big lead and rest starters and get everyone plenty of playing time and experience.

This is one of those games where you hope to play everyone, and allow everyone to enjoy what would be a great team win heading to a very tough challenge come Friday night.

The Tri County Northeast Girls lost 55-52 at Hartington-Newcastle Tuesday night.

The Wildcats led 16-11 after one. The Wolfpack won the 2nd quarter 15-8 to take a 26-24 lead into the locker room.

Both teams scored 17 points in the 3rd quarter, and Tri County Northeast led 43-41 at the end of three.

Hartington-Newscastle won the 4th quarter 14-9 to steal the win.

Jordyn Carr led the way with 25 points while Rhyanne Mackling totaled 14. Brynn Shock posted 9 while Alli Jackson had 8.

Tough one to swallow for the Wolfpack.

Tri County Northeast (1-2) plays host to Winside (1-4) Thursday night.

The Wildcats picked up their first win of the season Tuesday night, winning 41-17 at St. Ed.

These two teams have a similar record, but Tri County Northeast should pick up the win.

I feel the Girls game will be closer than the Boys Game is between the two teams.

The Wolfpack hosts a great Ponca team Friday night, and the thing Tri County Northeast can't get caught doing is looking ahead.

The Wolfpack has to be locked in and focused on Winside, especially given how Tuesday night's game ended.

No game or win is a for sure thing, and Tri County Northeast has to come out and really earn things Thursday night.

The Wolfpack should win, but Tri County Northeast has to do their part and earn their keep come Thursday night.
