GACC Boys begin season 0-3; Girls start 3-0

The Guardian Angels Central Catholic Boys lost 65-39 at Wisner-Pilger Friday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull before falling 62-51 at home to Lutheran High Northeast on Saturday, and 61-42 at home to Columbus Scotus Tuesday night.

The game with the Gators was tied at 13 at the end of one. Wisner-Pilger outscored the Bluejays 23-10 in the 2nd quarter to take a 36-23 lead into the locker room.

The Gators outscored GACC 18-8 in the 3rd quarter to go up 54-31 at the end of three.

Wisner-Pilger won the 4th quarter 11-8.

Cody Steffen had 13 points while Branden Duhsman totaled 7.

LHNE led 18-12 at the end of the 1st quarter. GACC won the 2nd quarter 14-12 to make it a 30-26 game at halftime.

The Bluejays won the 3rd quarter 18-16 to close within 2 at 46-44 at the end of three.

The Eagles outscored GACC 16-7 in the 4th quarter.

The Shamrocks went up 13-8 at the end of one. Scotus won the 2nd quarter 14-11 to build a 27-19 halftime advantage.

The Shamrocks tripled up the Bluejays 18-6 in the 3rd quarter to go up 45-25 at the end of three.

GACC won the 4th quarter 17-16.

I thought the Bluejays played good on Saturday and Tuesday for a portion of both games it was just one bad quarter that hurt them.

GACC (0-3) hosts Wynot (2-0) Thursday night.

The Blue Devils won 53-11 at Winside Friday night.

Wynot has a good record, but they are a D-2 School and have played smaller schools than the Bluejays have.

Not saying that's bad or there's anything wrong with that, but I feel like GACC has been challenged more.

At the end of the day the Blue Devils are 2-0 and the Bluejays are 0-3 right now though.

GACC can definitely get this one, but it's going to take a great effort on their part to make it happen.

The Bluejays have to play a complete four quarter game in order to win this one.

GACC can definitely make it happen, but it won't be easy.

The Bluejays need to get off to a fast start and play with the lead and force Wynot to play from behind.

The GACC Girls are off to a blazing hot start as the Bluejays won 68-25 at Wisner-Pilger Friday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull before winning 75-40 at home over Lutheran High Northeast on Saturday, and 56-43 at home over Columbus Scotus Tuesday night.

The Bluejays led the Gators 33-2 at the end of the 1st quarter.

Wisner-Pilger won the 2nd quarter 11-9 to make it a 42-13 game at halftime.

GACC outscored the Gators 18-10 in the 3rd quarter to go up 60-23 at the end of three.

The Bluejays quadrupled up Wisner-Pilger 8-2 in the 4th quarter.

Brenna Rief had 17 points while Brandi Doernemann notched 10. Erica Engelmeyer and Isabel Hass tallied 9 apiece.

GACC held a 17-14 lead on LHNE at the end of one. The Bluejays outscored the Eagles 21-5 in the 2nd quarter to build a 38-19 halftime lead.

GACC outscored Lutheran High Northeast 21-12 in the 3rd quarter to go up 59-31 at the end of three.

The Bluejays won the 4th quarter 16-9.

Sophia Hass registered 16 points and 12 rebounds, good enough for a double-double. Rief added 12 points while Doernemann totaled a double-double of 11 points and 17 rebounds. Livia Hunke added 9 points.

GACC jumped out to a 17-5 lead on the Shamrocks at the end of the 1st quarter. Scotus won the 2nd quarter 10-9 to make it a 26-15 game at halftime.

The Bluejays won the 3rd quarter 16-13 to extend their lead to 42-28 at the end of three.

The Shamrocks won the 4th quarter 15-14.

Hass had 16 points and 7 rebounds while Rief notched 16 points.

Incredible start to the season for GACC.

The Bluejays (3-0) host Wynot (1-0) Thursday night.

The Blue Devils won 63-14 at Winside Tuesday night.

Both of these teams are traditional and perennial powers.

Both have won multiple State Championships and find themselves in the thick of things down in Lincoln in March all the time.

This should be a great battle and another great test for GACC.

Being at home and playing a smaller school should give the Bluejays the advantage you would think.

That and GACC has played more games.

Don't underestimate Wynot though they are very, very good.

Tremendous program that has a lot of respect statewide.

At the end of the day though it's an opportunity for the Bluejays to improve to 4-0 on the season heading into Saturday's battle at Crofton.

It's a big week with a bunch of early season tests for GACC.

So far the Bluejays passed test one, but tests two and three lie ahead, and GACC has to be on top of their game like they have been so far this season.
