Wisner-Pilger Boys and Girls top Tekamah-Herman

The Wisner-Pilger Boys won 76-66 at home over Tekamah-Herman Friday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.

The Tigers led 14-11 after one. The Gators won the 2nd quarter 19-15 to pull in front 30-29 at halftime.

Both teams scored 20 points, and Wisner-Pilger led 50-49 at the end of three.

The Gators outscored Tekamah-Herman 26-17 in the 4th quarter.

Beau Ruskamp led the way with 20 points while Spencer Batenhorst totaled 19. Regan Bellar added 16 while Jackson Knust registered 7.

Close call for Wisner-Pilger, but a win is a win.

The Gators (2-1) travel to Oakland to battle Oakland-Craig (4-2) Thursday night in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.

The Knights won 70-64 at Winnebago Tuesday night, and have now won four in a row.

This should be a heck of a game on Thursday.

Both teams are playing Good Basketball right now.

Wisner-Pilger has had an extra day to prepare for Oakland-Craig, but the Knights may be in a little bit better game shape having played more games lately.

You always have to wonder if COVID-19 plays a role in any kids having to be quarantined and that sort of thing as well.

The coronavirus pandemic has cancelled a couple of games for the Pender Boys so hopefully that doesn't happen to either of these teams.

Both teams have to be vigilant in their approach to this game and pandemic, and be ready to go, but in a safe and concise manner.

The Wisner-Pilger Girls picked up their first win of the year on Friday, winning 52-35 at home over Tekamah-Herman in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.

The Gators jumped out to a 12-5 lead at the end of one. The Tigers outscored Wisner-Pilger 15-6 in the 2nd quarter to take a 20-18 lead into the locker room.

The Gators outscored Tekamah-Herman 19-7 in the 3rd quarter to go back in front 37-27 at the end of three.

Wisner-Pilger outscored the Tigers 15-8 in the 4th quarter.

Emma Heller led the way with 15 points while Adi Meyer recorded 9. Emily Buhrman posted 8 while Macy Stuhr chipped in 7.

Nice win for the Gators.

Wisner-Pilger (1-2) travels to Oakland to battle Oakland-Craig (2-3) on the road Thursday night in action that will be aired on 107.9 the Bull.

The Knights won 56-50 at Winnebago Tuesday night.

Oakland-Craig has struggled a bit lately, and things have the potential to be interesting on Thursday I think.

The Knights are still very good and talented though so the Gators definitely have their work cut out for them.

At the same time Wisner-Pilger played a really nice game on Friday against Tekamah-Herman, and should be proud of themselves for that game and effort.

Now it's something for the Gators to build off of heading into Thursday.

Wisner-Pilger got that first win monkey off their backs so now the Gators can just go out there and play loose and pressure free if they weren't already.

That first win is always tough, and now that Wisner-Pilger has tasted victory I figure they'll be ready to take aim at another win Thursday night given all the momentum and energy they figure to have and play with.

I think Thursday's game has a chance to be closer and more competitive than some might think, but we will see for sure.

Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. on the Bull.
