The Winnebago Boys lost 70-67 at home to Norfolk Catholic Tuesday night.
The Knights jumped out to a big lead early, going up 25-12 at the end of the 1st quarter.
Norfolk Catholic won the 2nd quarter 19-18 to take a 44-30 lead into the locker room.
Winnebago outscored the Knights 20-9 in the 3rd quarter to make it a 53-50 game at the end of three.
Both teams scored 17 points in the 4th quarter.
Great effort from Winnebago, they came up just short.
Winnebago finishes the pre-Christmas Holiday Schedule with a 3-3 record.
Winnebago is a good team.
They won their first 3 games, including a win over Walthill in that span.
It's just the schedule has gotten harder for Winnebago, and they've lost some close games.
Winnebago's 3 losses have come by a total of 13 points.
Winnebago is doing a lot right they just have a few small things to tweak.
Winnebago takes on Auburn (4-0) at the Great Northeast Nebraska Shootout at Wayne State Monday afternoon.
The Bulldogs won 59-23 at home over Freeman Tuesday night.
This is a loaded tournament on the boys side.
And honestly this matchup between Auburn and Winnebago could easily be a semifinal matchup.
This should be a great game and challenge for Winnebago.
Winnebago has to try and get out and run and push tempo and make Auburn play fast.
The Bulldogs will no doubt try and slow things down and play a half court, methodical game.
Winnebago has to try and take Auburn out of their game and force them to play fast.
Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at Rice Auditorium.
The Winnebago Girls won 53-35 at home over Norfolk Catholic Tuesday night.
The Knights led 11-9 at the end of 1st quarter. Winnebago won the 2nd quarter 12-10 to tie the game at 21 at halftime.
Winnebago turned things on in the 3rd quarter, outscoring Norfolk Catholic 16-6 to go up 37-27 at the end of three.
Winnebago doubled up the Knights 16-8 in the 4th quarter.
Great second half from Winnebago. That honestly might be what they need to get going.

Winnebago could easily be 5-2 right now they just had a couple of close losses to Adams Central and Oakland-Craig.
With that said, I was kind of expecting more from Winnebago to this point.
But the good news is Winnebago got things going in the second half against the Knights.
I think that could definitely lead to bigger things for Winnebago.
Winnebago faces Auburn (4-0) in the 1st round of the Great Northeast Nebraska Shootout at Wayne High Monday afternoon.
The Bulldogs won 64-28 at home over Mound City, MO Tuesday night.
I think if Winnebago can beat Auburn they will make the championship.
And Winnebago could definitely do it too, but I could also see Winnebago playing Homer and maybe like Laurel-Concord-Coleridge for 5th place on Wednesday.
Winnebago has to expect to win and has to aim for playing for the Championship on Wednesday, but just saying what I think could happen.
If Winnebago plays the way they did in the second half against Norfolk Catholic though they are going to be very difficult to beat.
Winnebago has to play that way consistently for 4 quarters.
If Winnebago does that then they could make a run.
Monday's game is scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m.
