Stanton Boys and Girls fall to Battle Creek and North Bend Central

The Stanton Boys lost 36-24 at Battle Creek Friday night before falling 80-40 at home to North Bend Central Tuesday night.

The Braves led 6-5 at the end of the 1st quarter. The Mustangs won the 2nd quarter 6-4 to pull ahead 11-10 at halftime.

Battle Creek blew things open in the 3rd quarter, outscoring Stanton 21-3 to extend their lead to 31-14 at the end of three.

The Mustangs doubled up the Braves 10-5 in the 4th quarter.

NBC led 26-12 after one, and outscored Stanton 21-8 in the 2nd quarter to take a 47-20 lead into the locker room.

The Tigers outscored the Mustangs 25-10 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 72-30 at the end of three.

Stanton won the 4th quarter 10-8.

Parker Krusemark had 14 points and 9 rebounds while Mason Bruggeman totaled 9 points and 7 rebounds. Owen Vogel added 9 points.

Good effort from the Mustangs both nights.

Stanton (1-4) travels to Wakefield to take on the Trojans (3-1) Friday night.

Wakefield won 78-39 at home over Randolph Tuesday night.

The Trojans are having a respectable season so far.

I think the Mustangs can keep things close in this one though.

Wakefield had close games with Pender and Omaha Nation before the lopsided win over the Cardinals.

Stanton doesn't figure to have an easy time with the Trojans, but I think the Mustangs can compete and hold their own.

Stanton played well defensively against Battle Creek, and I think that could very well be the case once again Friday night against Wakefield.

I think what's preventing the Mustangs from winning some of these games is their offense.

Stanton has been held to 40 points or less in each of their losses.

The Mustangs put up 67 against Tekamah-Herman so if Stanton could do that again and find a way to be consistent it could make all the difference.

The Stanton Girls lost 56-16 at Battle Creek Friday night before falling 60-19 at home to North Bend Central Tuesday night.

The Bravettes jumped out to a 17-6 lead at the end of the 1st quarter, and outscored the Mustangs 15-2 in the 2nd quarter to take a 32-8 lead into the locker room.

Battle Creek outscored Stanton 11-4 in the 3rd quarter to go up 43-12 at the end of three.

The Bravettes outscored the Mustangs 13-4 in the 4th quarter.

Sylvia Cunningham had 8 points.

The Tigers went up 19-8 at the end of one, and blanked Stanton 14-0 in the 2nd quarter to take a 33-8 lead into the locker room.

North Bend Central outscored the Mustangs 17-9 in the 3rd quarter to go up 50-17 at the end of three.

The Tigers outscored Stanton 10-2 in the 4th quarter.

Savannah Siebrandt had 7 points while Kinley Pohlman totaled 8 rebounds.

A couple of tough losses for the Mustangs.

Stanton (1-4) travels to Wakefield to battle the Trojans (3-1) Friday night.

Wakefield won 64-26 at home over Randolph Tuesday night.

The Trojans have looked very good this year, their lone loss being a one-pointer to Pender.

The Mustangs have to step up their game if they want to give Wakefield a run for their money.

Stanton really struggled on both ends of the floor on Friday and Tuesday.

The Mustangs can definitely correct things and bounce back in a big way though.

Stanton just has to keep working hard and must continue to trust the process.

The Mustangs have to play with tons of intensity and passion, and give the Trojans all they got and then some.

Stanton has to make life as difficult as possible on Wakefield, and come out and play inspired basketball Friday night.
