Clarkson/Leigh Boys lose to Howells-Dodge, beat Columbus Lakeview; Girls defeat both

The Clarkson/Leigh Boys lost 66-35 at home to Howells-Dodge on Saturday before winning 42-33 at Columbus Lakeview Tuesday night.

Howells-Dodge went up 20-12 on the Patriots at the end of one. The Jaguars won the 2nd quarter 11-6 to take a 31-18 lead into the locker room.

Howells-Dodge won the 3rd quarter 13-8 to extend their lead to 44-26 at the end of three.

The Jaguars outscored Clarkson/Leigh 22-9 in the 4th quarter.

Mason Whitmore had a team-high 7 points while Carter Hanel totaled 8 rebounds.

The Patriots tripled up the Vikings 9-3 in the 1st quarter before outscoring Lakeview 13-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 22-10 lead into the locker room.

Clarkson/Leigh won the 3rd quarter 10-8 to extend their lead to 32-18 at the end of three.

The Vikings won the 4th quarter 15-10.

Kyle Kasik led the way with 21 points while Hanel registered 9 points and 12 rebounds. Trevor Zulkoski added 7 points.

Heck of a win for the Patriots over Lakeview.

Clarkson/Leigh is 3-4 heading into the Holiday Moratorium.

The Patriots are back in action on Monday when they battle Fillmore Central (0-6) at the Shelby-Rising City Holiday Tournament.

On the other side is Shelby-Rising City (2-4) and Arcadia/Loup City (3-3).

I feel like this tournament is wide open.

I think Clarkson/Leigh has a shot to win the tournament.

If the Patriots play the way they did on Tuesday then they can beat any of the teams in this tournament.

That win over Lakeview had to be a real confidence and moral booster for Clarkson/Leigh.

Now the Patriots have to build off of it and try and go win themselves a championship.

Game time is scheduled for 5:15 p.m.

The Clarkson/Leigh Girls held off Howells-Dodge 54-52 at home on Saturday before routing Columbus Lakeview 48-28 on the road Tuesday night.

The Jaguars led the Patriots 16-12 at the end of one. Clarkson/Leigh outscored Howells-Dodge 19-10 in the 2nd quarter to take a 31-26 lead into the locker room.

The Jaguars won the 3rd quarter 15-11 to make it a 42-41 game at the end of three.

The Patriots won the 4th quarter 12-11 to make up the final score.

Chloe Hanel had 19 points and 7 rebounds while Alissa Kasik totaled 11 points. Kayden Schumacher posted 8 points and 9 rebounds while Cassidy Hoffman had 8 points.

Clarkson/Leigh doubled up the Viqueens 14-7 in the 1st quarter, and outscored Lakeview 18-11 in the 2nd quarter to take a 32-18 lead into the locker room.

The Viqueens doubled up the Patriots 6-3 in the 3rd quarter to make it a 35-24 game at the end of three.

Clarkson/Leigh outscored Lakeview 13-4 in the 4th quarter.

Kennedy Settje led the way with 12 points while Hanel, Schumacher, and Faith Indra each had 9. Hoffman added 7.

Mighty impressive win for the Patriots on Tuesday.

Clarkson/Leigh is a perfect 8-0 heading into the Christmas Holiday Break, and is sitting atop the Wildcard Point Standings in Class C-2.

The Patriots have to be pretty happy with where they are right now, but have to keep going.

Clarkson/Leigh faces Fillmore Central (2-4) in the first round of the Shelby-Rising City Holiday Tournament on Monday.

On the other side of the bracket is Arcadia/Loup City (1-5) and Shelby-Rising City (3-4).

This tournament is honestly the Patriots' to lose, in my opinion.

Clarkson/Leigh won it last year, and I look for the Patriots to win it once again this year.

Clarkson/Leigh should have no trouble in either game I wouldn't think.

The Patriots should be 10-0 heading into the 2021 Calendar Year.

Game time is slated for 3:30 p.m.
