The Clarkson/Leigh Boys are off to a 1-3 start as the Patriots fell 70-44 at home to Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family last Friday night, 67-59 at Madison on Saturday, and 77-55 at home to Oakland-Craig Tuesday night before beating Winside 75-56 on the road Thursday night.

Paprocki poured in 29 points and 10 rebounds, good enough for a double-double. McMullin added 22 points while Becker scored 16.

Clarkson/Leigh is putting up some impressive offensive numbers. The problem is the Patriots haven't been able to stop anyone so far this season.

Clarkson/Leigh (1-3) looks to change that on Saturday when they take on Lyons-Decatur Northeast (1-1) on the road.

The Cougars defeated Winside 48-31 at home Tuesday night.

This figures to be a close game if you ask me.

Alec Anderson and Chris Christoffersen appear to be the go to players for Lyons-Decatur Northeast.

They were the top two scorers against the Wildcats, and appear to be prime time players.

The Patriots appear to have better scorers, but the Cougars might be stronger defensively.

Clarkson/Leigh has to come out and be aggressive offensively.

The Patriots have to pressure the ball defensively, and really get after things on defense as well.

It's also important for Clarkson/Leigh to get to the free throw line and convert opportunities at the stripe.

The Patriots have to be fired up and excited for this game. Clarkson/Leigh's energy level has to be high, and the Patriots have to play with tremendous heart, pride, and passion.

Clarkson/Leigh has to play hard, and turn in their best effort of the season.

It would be big for the Patriots to win their second game in a row after starting the season 0-3.

A victory would be good momentum heading into the Guardian Angels Central Catholic game Tuesday night.

The Clarkson/Leigh Girls are 2-2 on the season as the Patriots lost 54-19 at home to Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family last Friday night before beating Madison 41-32 on the road Saturday. Clarkson/Leigh fell 65-29 at home to Oakland-Craig Tuesday night, and then downed Winside 49-12 on the road Thursday night.

The Bulldogs led the Patriots 15-3 at the end of one. Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family won the second quarter 11-8 to lead 26-11 at halftime.

The Bulldogs blanked Clarkson/Leigh 17-0 in the third quarter to go up 43-11 at the end of three.

Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family outscored the Patriots 11-8 in the fourth quarter.

Clarkson/Leigh led the Dragons 11-4 after one. Madison won the second quarter 9-4 to make it a 15-13 game at halftime.

Both teams scored 12 third quarter points, and the score after three was 27-25 in favor of Clarkson/Leigh. The Patriots doubled up the Dragons 14-7 in the fourth quarter.

The Patriots put up 13 fourth quarter points compared to 2 for the Wildcats.

Cerv had a game-high 15 points while Megan Svehla and Paprocki totaled 9 and 8, respectively.

Clarkson/Leigh has played decent basketball so far. The Patriots have beaten who they were supposed to, but have struggled against the tougher teams on their schedule.

Clarkson/Leigh (2-2) squares off with Lyons-Decatur Northeast (2-0) in Lyons on Saturday.

The Cougars defeated Winside 62-27 at home Tuesday night.

Lyons-Decatur Northeast might be a stronger team offensively and defensively than the Patriots based on the scores of each team's games, but you have to take into account that Clarkson/Leigh has played tougher competition overall.

The Cougars only have 9 players on their varsity roster so the Patriots should attack and go right at Clarkson/Leigh to try and get Lyons-Decatur Northeast in foul trouble.

It's important for the Patriots to establish a physical style of basketball on the inside.

Clarkson/Leigh also has to knock down open shots when they have them. It's important for the Patriots to not only shoot well from the free throw line, but the floor as well.

Clarkson/Leigh has to be efficient offensively, and also has to keep Lyons-Decatur Northeast off the boards.

The Patriots must box out, and grab and dive after loose balls.

Clarkson/Leigh has to play with maximum effort, and has to hustle at all times.

The one thing the Patriots can control is their effort, and Clarkson/Leigh has to play hard at all times if they want to come out on top.

I think Saturday's game will be interesting. I could see the game going either way.
