Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys lose to Wahoo; Girls fall to Malcolm and Cedar Bluffs

The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys lost 60-53 at Wahoo on Saturday.

The Warriors led 9-3 after one. Wahoo won the second quarter 16-12 to take a 25-15 lead into the locker room.

The Warriors outscored the Raiders 19-12 in the third quarter to make it a 44-27 lead at the end of three.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder put up 26 fourth quarter points compared to 16 for Wahoo.

Ben Moxness had a team-high 10 points. Nathan Taylor added 9 while Darnell Sims and Jacob Polk totaled 8 and 7, respectively.

The Raiders did a nice job battling back in the fourth quarter. It would have been easy to just pack it in after the third quarter, but this team continued to fight, and that's what you like to see a team do.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder (1-3) travels to Tekamah Friday night to battle Tekamah-Herman (1-4).

The Tigers lost 70-53 at home to Omaha Brownell-Talbot Monday night, and have struggled so far this season.

This is a very winnable game for the Raiders. Logan View/Scribner-Snyder must slow down Derek Haber, Gus Langley, and Matt Gross though.

Those three are the three players that can do the most damage for Tekamah-Herman.

They are also the team's leading scorers.

The Raiders have to be committed to playing good ball on the defensive end of the floor.

The Tigers struggled to put the ball in the hole against Wisner-Pilger and Twin River so there's no doubt Logan View/Scribner-Snyder is capable of shutting Tekamah-Herman down as well.

Something tells me this game will be fairly high scoring though. I look for the Raiders to have their highest scoring output of the season.

A win would be good for Logan View/Scribner-Snyder as it would give the Raiders an opportunity to be 3-3 heading into the Holiday Tournament.

That would be a big step in the right direction for this team, who, in my opinion, has played quality basketball this season.

We will find out what Logan View/Scribner-Snyder can get done before the Holiday Break.

The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Girls lost 62-13 at Malcolm Friday night, and fell 47-42 at Cedar Bluffs Tuesday night.

The varsity game against Malcolm saw the Raiders run into a buzzsaw as LVSS fell behind 26-2 to start the game and was never able to recover.

Shaylin Daugherty led the scoring with 8 points, Ashley Peters added 3, and Sierra Beacom-2.

The Wildcats led the Raiders 8-7 after one. Logan View/Scribner-Snyder outscored Cedar Bluffs 17-9 in the second quarter to take a 24-17 lead into the locker room.

The Wildcats won the third quarter 19-11 to go up 43-28 at the end of three.

Cedar Bluffs notched 11 fourth quarter points compared to 7 for Logan View/Scribner-Snyder.

Kaylee Boyle had a team-high 13 points and 8 rebounds. Daugherty totaled 11 points and 9 rebounds while  Beacom added 10 points.

The Raiders had three girls in double figures. That's encouraging and positive for this team moving forward.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder (0-4) takes on Tekamah-Herman (3-2) on the road Friday night.

The Tigers defeated Twin River 45-36 at home on Saturday after losing 45-29 at home to Wisner-Pilger Friday night.

Tekamah-Herman is a good team, and has a number of girls who can score. Allie Snow, Marin Jetensky, Sammi Surber, and Hannah Tobin are all solid scorers for the Tigers.

The Raiders must have a game similar to Cedar Bluffs in terms of getting multiple girls in the scoring column.

Perhaps Logan View/Scribner-Snyder can take another step even further and get four or five girls in double figures.

That could very well get the Raiders over the hump.

It's going to be another difficult game for Logan View/Scribner-Snyder, especially with it being in Tekamah.

The Raiders have to play with heart and a positive attitude though. Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has to play upset minded basketball and not back down from the Tigers whatsoever.

This team has to try their best, play hard and smart, and leave it all out on the floor. If the Raiders do that then anything can happen.

We will find out what Logan View/Scribner-Snyder can do Friday night. I look for the Raiders to continue to take positive steps in the right direction and put forth a competitive effort.

If Logan View/Scribner-Snyder fails to pick up their first win of the season over Tekamah-Herman, they have a good chance of earning their first win on Tuesday over Douglas County West.
