Emerson-Hubbard Boys winless so far; Girls 2-1 to start year

The Emerson-Hubbard Boys Basketball team is off to an 0-3 start as the Pirates lost 64-38 to Guardian Angels Central Catholic on Friday in the Northeast Nebraska Tip-Off Classic before falling 60-47 to Wisner-Pilger on Saturday, also in the Northeast Nebraska Tip-Off Classic. Emerson-Hubbard lost 59-50 at home to Bancroft-Rosalie Tuesday night.

The Bluejays led the Pirates 13-9 after one. GACC outscored Emerson-Hubbard 23-6 in the second quarter to take a 36-15 lead into the locker room.

The Bluejays won the third quarter 18-10 to make it a 54-25 game at the end of three.

The Pirates notched 13 fourth quarter points compared to 10 for GACC.

Austin Ostrand had a team-high 12 points while Tyler Haberman and Tyler Emmons each had 7 points.

The Gators outscored Emerson-Hubbard 17-11 in the third quarter to go up 44-40 at the end of three.

Wisner-Pilger notched 16 fourth quarter points compared to 7 for the Pirates.

Emerson-Hubbard held a one-point advantage over the Panthers at the end of one, 14-13. Bancroft-Rosalie won the second quarter 18-11 to go up 31-25 at halftime.

The Panthers outscored the Pirates 13-10 in the third quarter to lead 44-35 at the end of three.

Both teams scored 15 fourth quarter points.

Emerson-Hubbard has made strides in every game so far this season, but their efforts have yet to yield them a win.

The Pirates (0-3) host Laurel-Concord-Coleridge (2-0) Friday night.

The Bears beat Crofton 69-60 at home this past Friday night before downing Homer 65-17 at home Tuesday night.

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge has played good basketball so far this season, and has to keep playing well to beat Emerson-Hubbard.

The Pirates are getting better, and I think they have a chance to be very competitive against the Bears.

Emerson-Hubbard has to try and slow down Dillan Wolfgram, Jayden Reifenrath, and Jordan Jansen.

Those three scored in double figures against the Warriors, and appear to be good players.

Haberman, Emmons, and Ostrand need to have big games for the Pirates, and must carry and will this team to victory.

Emerson-Hubbard has their work cut out for them, there's no doubt about it, but I look for the Pirates to step up and rise to the occasion.

This team has made a lot of positive strides so far this season, and I suspect Emerson-Hubbard will play even better Friday night than they have all season.

Win or lose, it should be a night of positives for the Pirates of Emerson-Hubbard.

The Emerson-Hubbard Girls are off to a 2-1 start as the Pirates defeated Wisner-Pilger 55-31 in their opener on Thursday in the Northeast Nebraska Tip-Off Classic before losing 59-30 to Guardian Angels Central Catholic on Saturday, also in the Northeast Nebraska Tip-Off Classic. Emerson-Hubbard defeated Bancroft-Rosalie 65-40 at home Tuesday night.

The Pirates led 16-2 at the end of one over the Gators. Emerson-Hubbard won the second quarter 12-9 to extend the lead to 17 at 28-11 at halftime.

The Pirates put up 9 third quarter points compared to 8 for Wisner-Pilger to make it a 37-19 game at the end of three.

Emerson-Hubbard outscored the Gators 18-12 in the fourth quarter.

The Bluejays led 19-11 after one. GACC outscored the Pirates 11-4 in the second quarter to go up 30-15 at halftime.

The Bluejays doubled up Emerson-Hubbard 10-5 in the third quarter to make it a 40-20 game at the end of three.

GACC put up 19 fourth quarter points compared to 10 for the Pirates.

Emerson-Hubbard led the Panthers 18-16 after one. Bancroft-Rosalie won the second quarter 16-13 to take a one-point lead at 32-31 into the locker room.

The Pirates outscored the Panthers 22-2 in the third quarter to make it a 53-34 game at the end of three.

Emerson-Hubbard doubled up Bancroft-Rosalie 12-6 in the fourth quarter.

The Pirates are playing at a high level right now. Emerson-Hubbard struggled in the first half against the Panthers, but really turned things on in the second half. The loss to GACC is understandable.

The Pirates (2-1) host Laurel-Concord-Coleridge (0-2) Friday night.

The Bears lost 70-24 to Crofton in their opener this past Friday night before losing 44-40 to Homer Tuesday night.

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge hasn't had the best season by any means, but Emerson-Hubbard can't afford to take the Bears lightly.

The Pirates have to come ready to play, and must play a complete, four quarter game.

Emerson-Hubbard has to get off to a fast start and never look back.

It has to be an outstanding performance from the Pirates all the way around.

Emerson-Hubbard has Hartington-Newcastle on Monday so this is an important game for the Pirates in terms of building momentum for that contest.

Emerson-Hubbard has to play to win, not play not to lose.

The Pirates must execute at a high level and stay out of foul trouble. The last thing Emerson-Hubbard wants to do is put Laurel-Concord-Coleridge on the line and give the Bears opportunities to convert at the stripe.

I look for the Pirates to come out and play well, and win big. I think Emerson-Hubbard will run away with things.
