Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Girls hoping to have success

Team: Logan View-Scribner-Snyder

Mascot: Raiders

Colors: Blue and Gold

Class: C-1

Conference: East Husker

Head Coach: Nick Hegge (5th season) (6-81 career record)

Overview:

Logan View and Scribner-Snyder are co-oping in basketball this year, and look to have a pretty solid team.

Returning letterwinners include Paige Heinke G 5’5 Sr. 3.2 ppg 2.4 RPG, Grayce McCormick G 5’6 Sr. 0.2 ppg 0.7 rpg, Haley Bundy F 5’6 Sr. 0.4 ppg 0.2 rpg, Jamie Poppe G 5’5 Sr. 0.2 ppg 0.2 rpg, Mackenzy Schreck F 5’9 Jr. 1.5 ppg 3.8 rpg, Kaylee Boyle G 5’8 So. 4.0 ppg 5.1 rpg., and Abby Kahlandt G 5’8 So. 0.8 ppg 2.7 rpg.

The Raiders will have to make up for the loss of Jerica Baumert, Lindsey Wisnieski, Kersten Peters, Jenae Mallette, Gaby Hoegermeyer, and Lexis Von Seggern.

Head Coach Nick Hegge says there are some young players who could contribute to this year's team. "Currently we have 5 freshman and 5 sophomores. There is some talent in these groups, it will take time to develop, but all will have an opportunity to contribute at the varsity level."

Hegge says depth is a team strength. "We will have a solid amount of depth, with 10-12 girls having the potential to see significant playing time."

Having a solid rotation will be important for this team. It will also be important for the team to get along and work together.

Hegge says the co-op is a good thing. "This has been a big benefit for our program. We have been going through practices with 18 girls as opposed to the 8-9 that each school would have if they were on their own. We are hoping to play a full freshman and JV schedule, which will allow our younger players time to develop."
I think the co-op is good for this program right now and in the future if the two stay together.
It's hard saying how good Logan View-Scribner-Snyder is going to be, but I think the Raiders will be better than if Logan View and Scribner-Snyder were on their own.
Season Outlook:
The Logan View-Scribner-Snyder Raiders hope to be better than the two schools were on their own a season ago.
However, Hegge says don't expect instant success. "We are currently feeling out where we need to be. I think that we have enough talent to compete, but with learning new systems and expectations it will take some time."

The schedule isn't the easiest for Logan View-Scribner-Snyder with Wayne, Malcolm, Cedar Bluffs, Tekamah-Herman, West Point-Beemer, Howells-Dodge, Twin River, and Lyons-Decatur Northeast all on the slate.

There are a lot of winnable games on the schedule for the Raiders, but Logan View-Scribner-Snyder is definitely going to have their challenges.

I think you could see the Raiders start off slow, but I think this team will get better as the year goes along, and play their hearts out all the time.

It will be interesting to see how this co-op team fares. Only time will tell how good this team can be.

Height and post defense could be an issue for Logan View-Scribner-Snyder, but the Raiders should be very good at the guard positions.

Logan View-Scribner-Snyder opens the year at Oakland-Craig on Thursday. That's a game you can hear on 107.9 the Bull.
