Polacek totaled a team-high 18 points. Josh Brester added 17 while Dylan Kucera notched 11. Prusa recorded 13 rebounds.

I'm surprised the Jaguars have struggled as much as they have. Howells-Dodge is getting better, but they have yet to pick up a win this season.

The Jaguars (0-4) battle Oakland-Craig (2-1) on the road Saturday.

The Knights defeated Clarkson/Leigh 77-55 on the road Tuesday night.

Oakland-Craig is another tough team on the schedule for Howells-Dodge. It has been murderers row for the Jaguars, and things don't get any easier on Saturday.

Howells-Dodge has to step up their game and put forth their best performance of the season.

The Jaguars have to be better on both ends of the floor, especially the defensive end.

Howells-Dodge hasn't held anyone under 50 points yet this season, and that has to change if the Jaguars want to start winning.

Howells-Dodge has to slow down the likes of Carter Thiele, Cole Mitchell, Cody Mace, and Garrett Seagren.

Polacek, Prusa, Renter, Brester, and Kucera all need to step up and have big performances for the Jaguars.

Those five have played well in spurts for Howells-Dodge, now it's a matter of getting them to all put up big numbers at the same time.

I look for Saturday's game to be close and entertaining. I think the Jaguars have what it takes to make things close and ultimately beat the Knights.

Howells-Dodge desperately needs a win. A victory Saturday would no doubt be a huge boost for this team.

The Howells-Dodge Girls are off to a very respectable start as the Jaguars are 3-1 following a 43-27 loss at home to Pierce last Thursday night, a 44-28 win at Stanton last Friday night, a 49-25 win at David City Aquinas Tuesday night, and a 56-37 victory over Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family at home Thursday night.

Howells-Dodge was tied with the Bluejays at 8 at the end of one. Pierce won the second quarter 15-8 to lead 23-16 at halftime.

The Bluejays outscored the Jaguars 10-7 in the third quarter to make it a 33-23 game at the end of three.

Pierce put up 10 fourth quarter points compared to 4 for Howells-Dodge.

Sam Brester paced the Jaguars with 13 points.

The Mustangs got out to a 12-11 lead on the Jaguars at the end of one. Howells-Dodge doubled up Stanton 16-8 in the second quarter to lead 27-20 at halftime.

The Jaguars won the third quarter 7-5 to lead 34-25 at the end of three.

Howells-Dodge outscored the Mustangs 10-3 in the fourth quarter.

Brester had 19 points and 8 rebounds while Kelly Cech totaled 9 points.

The Jaguars quadrupled up the Monarchs 16-4 in the first quarter. Howells-Dodge outscored David City Aquinas 13-6 in the second quarter to lead 29-10 at halftime.

The Jaguars tripled up the Monarchs 12-4 in the third quarter to go up 41-14 at the end of three.

David City Aquinas won the fourth quarter 11-8.

Brester notched 18 points and 11 rebounds, good enough for a double-double. Cech chipped in 9 points and 9 rebounds.

Howells-Dodge went up 16-15 on the Bulldogs at the end of one. The Jaguars outscored Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family 16-7 in the second quarter to take a 32-22 lead into the locker room.

Howells-Dodge won the third quarter 14-10 to lead 46-32 at the end of three.

The Jaguars doubled up the Bulldogs 10-5 in the fourth quarter.

Brester registered 19 points and 9 rebounds. Cech recorded a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Howells-Dodge is playing good basketball right now. And the thing is I think there's room for improvement with this team.

So far it has been Brester and Cech doing everything. I think it's only a matter of time before other players step up and help out.

Doing that on Saturday would be a good idea as the Jaguars (3-1) take on Oakland-Craig (4-1) in Oakland.

The Knights won 54-49 at home against Pender Friday night, and 65-29 at Clarkson/Leigh Tuesday night, and have played at a high level so far this season.

Perhaps Oakland-Craig is a bit of a surprise, but regardless the Knights should have the Jaguars' attention.

Oakland-Craig could very well be the second toughest team Howells-Dodge has faced this season, although all of the Jaguars' opponents have been tough so far this season.

Howells-Dodge is used to playing tough teams so that should help them in their quest to beat the Knights on Saturday.

Brynn and Bailey Charling, Dacey Nelson, Olivia Bures, and Melanie Snader have all performed well for Oakland-Craig this season.

That simply means the Jaguars will have to pay extra special attention to those players to ensure they don't go off on them.

This is going to be another tough game for Howells-Dodge, but there's no doubt in my mind the Jaguars can get the job done.

Oakland-Craig is a very good team, but so is Howells-Dodge. We will see what the Jaguars are made of on Saturday.
