The GACC Boys won 61-27 at home over Clarkson/Leigh on Saturday.
The Bluejays led the Patriots 16-12 after one. GACC outscored Clarkson/Leigh 13-5 in the second quarter to take a 29-17 lead into the locker room.
The Bluejays won the third quarter 22-8 to go up 51-25 after three.
GACC outlasted the Patriots 10-2 in the fourth quarter.
The Bluejays played great basketball on Saturday. This was a nice win for GACC.
The Bluejays (6-5) take on Wayne (10-3) on the road Friday night.
The Blue Devils have won six in a row, including a 77-57 win at Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Tuesday night.
Both teams beat Wisner-Pilger by 20 so this should be a great game between two teams who are on a roll.
I look at this game the way I looked at the Logan View/Scribner-Snyder/Wayne game. I thought the Raiders had a chance going into that game, but I wasn't sure if they were going to win.
That's kind of how I feel about this game too. I think the Bluejays have a good shot to win, but Wayne has been playing really good as of late too, and they are at home so that makes for a difficult contest.
I feel better about GACC's chances on Friday than I did about LVSS's chances last month though. So perhaps the Bluejays will become the 2nd Sports Booster team to beat the Blue Devils on their home floor, we shall see.
GACC takes on Boone Central/Newman Grove on Saturday, and the Cardinals have lost four in a row and five out of their last six.
So I like the Bluejays' chances in that game too, although the majority of BC/NG's recent losses have been close and to tough teams.
We will truly find out how good the Bluejays are this weekend and how much progress they have made.
These two games this weekend and really tough tests for GACC, but I feel the Bluejays can play well both nights and win both games.
Kobe Slaughter, Cole Kreikemeier, Andrew Guenther, Landon Stalp, Mitch Haas, and others need to rise to the occasion and play well for GACC.
The Bluejays have to be pumped and excited for this weekend's games. These are the types of games you live and die for. These types of games are why you practice and work so hard during the offseason.
Saturday's game at Boone Central/Newman Grove can be heard on 107.9 the Bull after the Girls game, which is set to start at 4:45 p.m.
The GACC Girls won 50-30 at home over Clarkson/Leigh on Saturday.
The Bluejays jumped out to a 9-7 lead after one. GACC outscored the Patriots 13-5 in the second quarter to take a 22-12 lead into the locker room.
The Bluejays outlasted Clarkson/Leigh 13-5 in the third quarter to go up 35-17 at the end of three.
GACC won the fourth quarter 15-13.
I thought the Bluejays played pretty good basketball against the Patriots for the most part. The middle quarters treated GACC really well.
The Bluejays (9-1) take on Winnebago (4-10) on the road Thursday night.
The Indians lost 78-39 at home to Oakland-Craig on Saturday, and have really struggled in their last two games,
I don't know if Winnebago lost a key player or two to injury, but the Indians really struggled in their last two games.
If Winnebago plays the way they did against Oakland-Craig and Laurel-Concord-Coleridge then I say GACC takes this one big.
But if the Indians play the way they did earlier in the season then I think this game has a chance to be closer than some might think.
Regardless of how Winnebago plays though I don't see the Bluejays having much trouble at all.
This should be at least a 30-40 point win for GACC.
The Indians have lost by big margins to the good teams on their schedule, and I look for that trend to continue Thursday night.
The Bluejays have what appears to be a tougher game at Boone Central/Newman Grove on Saturday although GACC should be able to win that game too.
When it's all said and done the Bluejays should be 11-1 heading into Tuesday's game at Battle Creek.
These next four games will definitely challenge and prepare GACC for the future though.
The Bluejays have four games in a row on the road so GACC will definitely be battle tested when it's all said and done.
The toughest part of the Bluejays' schedule is still after this four-game road stretch, but these next four games figure to challenge GACC's mental toughness at the very least.
And it all starts with taking care of business at Winnebago on Thursday. The Bluejays need to build a big lead to get younger players and backups playing time and experience, and to rest starters for Saturday.
Saturday's game at Boone Central/Newman Grove can be heard on 107.9 the Bull beginning at 4:45 p.m.
