North Bend Central Boys and Girls win at Fremont Bergan

The North Bend Central Boys won 58-53 at Fremont Bergan on Saturday.

It was a great win for the Tigers who needed the win in a big way, in my opinion.

North Bend Central (9-2) hosts Oakland-Craig (10-4) Friday night.

The Knights lost 63-50 at home to BRLD Friday night and have dropped two straight.

Oakland-Craig will be looking to get back on track without a doubt, something the Tigers appear to have just done.

The Knights have some very good scorers in Garrett Seagren, Carter Thiele, Kobe Benne, Wyatt Seagen, and others.

Oakland-Craig also plays solid defense for the most part, although the Knights haven't been as effective on that end of the floor in their last two games I would say.

With that said, this should be a really good game.

I give North Bend Central the edge with the game being on their home floor and the fact they're the bigger school, but Oakland-Craig is definitely capable of coming away with a win.

The Tigers need to continue to play hard and execute the way they have all season.

North Bend Central has to have a defensive performance like they had against Pender, who they only gave up 19 points to.

The Tigers appear to be a well oiled machine, and I think North Bend Central has a good chance to knock off the Knights Friday night.

It's all about getting up in the faces of ball handlers and shooters, and creating turnovers and getting out in transition.

The Tigers are just a tough and gritty team that finds ways to win, and I look for that to show Friday night.

I think the game will be close, but I would be a little surprised if North Bend Central lost.

If Oakland-Craig was playing like they were during their winning streak I wouldn't feel as good about this game for the Tigers as I do.

But given the circumstances of how both teams are playing at the moment I have to give the edge to North Bend Central.

Friday night's game can be heard on 107.9 the Bull after the girls game, which is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m.

The North Bend Central Girls won 45-31 at Fremont Bergan on Saturday.

The Tigers led 10-7 after one. North Bend Central outscored the Knights 10-6 in the second quarter to go up 20-13 at halftime.

The Tigers outlasted Fremont Bergan 15-7 in the third quarter to lead 35-20 at the end of three.

The Knights won the fourth quarter 11-10.

I thought North Bend Central played a great game, especially defensively.

The Tigers (8-4) host Oakland-Craig (9-4) Friday night.

The Knights won 70-58 at home over BRLD Friday night.

North Bend Central has to slow down Dacey Nelson to have a chance, in my opinion.

She had a school record 42 points against the Wolverines, and the Tigers can't let her go off if they hope to win.

I think North Bend Central has a fairly good shot to win because of their defense and because they're at home.

Oakland-Craig plays good defense too though and probably is better offensively than the Tigers so this game can definitely go either way.

This game is absolutely huge for seeding in the East Husker Conference Tournament.

Both teams really need this game in a big way.

North Bend Central has Madison and Wisner-Pilger next week, two teams they should beat, but perhaps the Tigers would win more emphatically next week if they knocked off the Knights Friday night.

An 11-4 record would be quite a bit better than 10-5 heading into the Conference Tournament, in my opinion.

The winner of this game would possibly be able to get a top 6 seed in the tournament while the loser might get a 7 or a 8.

I'd rather face the No. 3 seed in a winner's bracket game than the No. 1 or No. 2 seed if I'm North Bend Central.

This game with Oakland-Craig should give the Tigers a very good idea of what to expect in the conference tournament.

Win or lose, I feel this game will help prepare North Bend Central for the Tournament.

Friday night's game can be heard on 107.9 the Bull beginning at 6:00 p.m.
