West Point-Beemer Boys on three-game losing streak
The West Point-Beemer Boys have lost three in a row, falling 36-32 at home to Twin River last Friday night, 47-35 at Logan View/Scribner-Snyder on Saturday, and 59-49 at Wayne Thursday night.
The Cadets held an 8-7 lead on the Titans at the end of one. West Point-Beemer won the second quarter 8-7 to go up 16-14 at halftime.
Twin River outscored the Cadets 7-5 in the third quarter to tie the game at 21 at the end of three.
The Titans outlasted West Point-Beemer 15-11 in the fourth quarter.
Chase Streeter notched 9 points and 7 rebounds while Cole Hughes totaled 9 points. Austin Streeter had 10 rebounds while Blake Anderson recorded 8.
The Raiders and Cadets were tied at 8 at the end of one. West Point-Beemer won the second quarter 12-10 to lead 20-18 at halftime.
LV/SS outscored the Cadets 11-6 in the third quarter to go up 29-26 at the end of three.
The Raiders doubled up West Point-Beemer 18-9 in the fourth quarter.
Chase Streeter registered 11 points and 8 rebounds while Anderson compiled 9 points.
The Cadets and Blue Devils were tied at 12 at the end of one and both scored 15 points in the second quarter was the game was nodded up at 27 at halftime.
Wayne won the third quarter 11-10 to lead 38-37 at the end of three.
The Blue Devils outscored West Point-Beemer 21-12 in the fourth quarter.
Anderson had a team-high 13 points while Austin Streeter and Ben Vander Griend added 12 and 11, respectively.
I think the Cadets competed very well against all three teams, it's just all are very solid.
West Point-Beemer (7-10) takes on Wisner-Pilger (6-10) in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament at Howells-Dodge on Saturday.
The Gators lost 63-40 at North Bend Central Thursday night.
These two teams met on January 6th in Wisner with the Gators winning 51-40.
Defense isn't really an issue for the Cadets, it's scoring that has hurt West Point-Beemer this season.
The Cadets are going to need to be able to score the ball well to beat Wisner-Pilger, in my opinion.
The Gators have played well at times this year although Wisner-Pilger has dropped their last two games pretty handily.
I think West Point-Beemer can win if they find a way to score 50 points or more.
The Cadets are 3-1 when they score over 50 points so I think that is the recipe for success for West Point-Beemer.
The winner gets North Bend Central Tuesday night, and I think the Cadets would like another shot at the Tigers after losing to them the way they did the first time around.
North Bend Central has been a little up and down lately, and if West Point-Beemer can get by Wisner-Pilger then I think the Cadets have a chance to make things close with and perhaps upset the Tigers.
Again though scoring is the big thing for West Point-Beemer. The Cadets have to put the ball in the basket at a high rate of success in order to get over the hump in this tournament and the rest of the season, in my opinion.
West Point-Beemer has some what I would say a lot of winnable games the rest of the way until they get to a potential district final so the Cadets have to maximize their potential and win these games they are capable of winning.
