Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys beat Wisner-Pilger and Tekamah-Herman; Girls fall to both

The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys beat Wisner-Pilger 50-40 on the road Saturday night and won 61-18 at home over Tekamah-Herman Thursday night.

The Raiders led the Gators 12-10 after one. Logan View/Scribner-Snyder outscored Wisner-Pilger 19-15 in the second quarter to take a 31-25 lead into the locker room.

The Raiders won the third quarter 6-4 to go up 37-29 at the end of three.

LV/SS outlasted the Gators 13-11 in the fourth quarter.

Ben Moxness led the way with 28 points and 13 rebounds, good enough for a double-double. Jacob Polk added 14 points.

The Raiders led the Tigers just 18-12 at the end of one. LV/SS went on an 11-0 run to start the second quarter though and outscored the Tigers 22-3 in the frame to take a 40-15 lead into the locker room.

The Raiders outscored the Tigers 19-2 in the third quarter to go up 59-17 at the end of three.

LV/SS doubled up Tekamah-Herman 2-1 in the fourth quarter.

Moxness led all scorers with 23 points and managed to record 7 rebounds while Polk and Alex Hagerbaumer totaled 9 points apiece. Nathan Taylor added 8 for LV/SS, who has now won 6 in a row.

Head Coach Sean Forbes says it was nice to be able to give the bench some minutes.

"We've got a great group of juniors. And then Andrew our senior plays really hard too for us. The younger guys really developed. It was nice to get them into the 2nd quarter and 4th quarter, get them experience. We haven't had a lot of games this year where they get a lot of time."

Forbes adds the team has a busy schedule ahead.

"We wanted to get some conditioning out of it. We had two snow days and then the weekend so one practice this week and a game so it was more about getting our legs going. We came back to school a week later than everybody too. So it was all about trying to get up and and down, getting our legs going, getting the cobwebs out. We got the Conference Tournament coming up. We've got two big games Saturday and Tuesday."

The Raiders (10-4) host West Point-Beemer (7-7) Saturday night.

The Cadets are coming off a 56-18 win at Tekamah-Herman last time out.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder is playing about as well as anyone in the area right now, but West Point-Beemer has been playing good lately too, and is a good and tough team.

The Raiders have to do what they can to slow down Austin and Chase Streeter, and limit the likes of Ben Vander Griend as well.

Moxness and Polk also need to continue doing what they have been doing lately,  which is putting up really good numbers offensively.

These two have meant so much to LV/SS's success this year, and have played superb basketball all season long.

Hagerbaumer and Taylor also really stepped up against Tekamah-Herman though, and I think the Raiders are going to need them to produce along with Moxness and Polk in bigger games down the stretch.

LV/SS might be able to get away with just a couple of these guys scoring well against West Point-Beemer though as the Cadets are more of a defensive team as opposed to a high powered offensive team.

I think defense is going to be key in Saturday's game. I think the Raiders are going to need to play the way they have on that end of the floor lately to come out on top.

LV/SS has to pressure the ball, dive on the floor after loose balls, box out and rebound well.

The Raiders also have to outwork West Point-Beemer on the defensive end of the floor and on both ends of the floor for that matter.

LV/SS has to remain hungry and and focused, and has to want more than what they've already accomplished.

If the Raiders play the way they have lately I think they will win on Saturday.

The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Girls lost 51-35 at Wisner-Pilger Saturday night before falling 56-29 at home to Tekamah-Herman Thursday night.

The Raiders tripled up the Gators 18-6 after one. Both teams scored 9 points in the second quarter, and the halftime score was 27-15 in favor of Wisner-Pilger.

LV/SS doubled up the Gators 12-6 in the third quarter, and the score after three was 33-27 with Wisner-Pilger on top.

The Gators outscored the Raiders 18-8 in the fourth quarter.

Kaylee Boyle had 14 points while Morgan Morgan totaled 8.

Tekamah-Herman led 12-9 after one. The Tigers outscored LV/SS 13-5 in the third quarter to lead 25-14 at halftime.

Tekamah-Herman won the third quarter 16-11 to go up 41-25 at the end of three.

The Tigers outlasted the Raiders 15-4 in the fourth quarter.

LV/SS was led by Boyle, who had 13 points.

Head Coach Nick Hegge says the shots just wouldn't fall.

"We're going to get after it, we're going to get some shots up, we're going to work on some rebounds. And then this is that time of year where it's game game game. And we got to make some adjustments on the fly. And I liked how hard we played, we just got to execute a little more."

The Raiders (4-10) host West Point-Beemer (5-10) Saturday night.

The Cadets won 42-36 at Tekamah-Herman on Saturday.

I don't know if LV/SS is going to beat West Point-Beemer, but I think it's important for the Raiders to play well and hard.

LV/SS has to try and slow down Brittney Hinkel, Bethany Anderson, Makenna Weddle, and others.

Boyle along with Morgan and Abby Kahlandt, and others, all need to play well offensively as well.

The Raiders have made strides this season and are a better team than they were last year, there's no doubt about it, and if LV/SS can find a way to compete and keep things close with the Cadets I think it could help the Raiders down the line.

You always want to win the game, but given how both teams played against Tekamah-Herman and Wisner-Pilger, it may not happen.

LV/SS has to try and find a way to get back on track though as the Raiders have dropped three in a row and five out of their last six.

LV/SS could really use a good performance from everyone on Saturday.

These girls are working so hard and doing their best to grow and improve everyday, and their work doesn't go unnoticed.

The Raiders could help themselves out on Saturday by taking care of the ball, finding good, wide open shots and making them, getting to the free throw line, forcing turnovers, rebounding well, and getting out in transition.

LV/SS also has to try and slow down West Point-Beemer's transition game as you can bet the Cadets will look to get out and run run run.
