West Point-Beemer Boys lose to Twin River and Wayne; Girls top Titans and Blue Devils

The West Point-Beemer Boys fell 50-48 at home to Twin River last Friday night before losing 33-30 at Wayne Thursday night.

The Cadets led 11-9 at the end of one on the Titans, and won the 2nd quarter 16-11 to take a 27-20 halftime lead.

Twin River won the 3rd quarter 13-10 to make it a 37-33 game at the end of three.

The Titans outscored West Point-Beemer 17-11 in the 4th quarter.

Two tough, narrow defeats for the Cadets.

West Point-Beemer (6-10) takes on Stanton (5-11) in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament Saturday afternoon from Leigh in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.

The Mustangs were last in action last Tuesday as they downed Madison 61-38 at home.

You have to wonder how Stanton will come out not having played in what will be 11 days.

The Cadets were so close to wins in both games too so you know West Point-Beemer will come out hungry and ready for a win.

I totally expect the Cadets to win on Saturday.

West Point-Beemer won 48-30 at Stanton earlier this season, and I look for the Cadets to win again.

I feel both teams are playing better ball right now than they were at that time so those two things should offset.

Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on the Bull.

The West Point-Beemer Girls won 53-32 at home over Twin River last Thursday night before defeating Wayne 60-43 on the road Thursday night.

The Cadets went up 23-14 at the end of one on the Titans before winning the 2nd quarter 5-2 to take a 28-16 lead into the locker room.

West Point-Beemer won the 3rd quarter 13-9 to extend their lead to 41-25 at the end of three.

The Cadets outscored Twin River 12-7 in the 4th quarter.

Rachel Groth had 16 points and 9 rebounds while Sidney Swanson totaled 14 points and 7 rebounds. Jadyn Meiergerd added 11 points while Emily Toelle posted 9 rebounds.

West Point-Beemer went up 13-12 at the end of one on the Blue Devils. The Cadets won the 2nd quarter 15-10 to take a 28-22 lead into the locker room.

West Point-Beemer won the 3rd quarter 12-11 to increase their advantage to 40-33 at the end of three.

The Cadets doubled up Wayne 20-10 in the 4th quarter.

The wins weren't the most dominant West Point-Beemer has been this season, but they were wins nonetheless.

The Cadets (14-3) face Pender (14-5) in the East Husker Conference Tournament Quarterfinals at North Bend Monday night.

The Pendragons won 62-18 at home over Tekamah-Herman in the first round of the tournament Friday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.

Pender kind of ran away with things against the Tigers so to speak.

West Point-Beemer has to be on their game and on point in this one.

I know the Cadets want another crack at North Bend Central, but so do the Pendragons I'm sure.

West Point-Beemer has to pick things up and get back to playing the way they were prior to the Twin River game.

The Cadets have to be on top of their game and must bring their A game come Monday night.

West Point-Beemer has to bring and must play with a lot of intensity.

The Cadets have to play tough, tight in your face defense like Pender did against Tekamah-Herman.

West Point-Beemer will definitely be challenged in this game, and has to rise to the occasion like they have when needed all year long.

Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. in North Bend.

Clarkson/Leigh Boys beat Twin River, fall to Lutheran High Northeast; Girls beat both

The Clarkson/Leigh Boys won 56-46 at Twin River last Thursday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull before losing 41-34 at home to Lutheran High Northeast last Friday night.

Twin River got off to a fast start, leading 21-13 after the first quarter.

Clarkson/Leigh hit a key three pointer right before halftime to cut their deficit to 26-23 heading into the intermission.

The Patriots came out strong in the second half, outscoring the Titans 22-5 in the third quarter.

Clarkson/Leigh was able to keep Twin River at arms length and preserve the win.

Both teams shot poorly from the free throw line, with the Patriots going 8-20 from the stripe and the Titans shooting 10-29.

Eli Hays had 16 points for the Patriots. Carter Hanel added a double-double of 14 points and 20 rebounds and Kyle Kasik had 12 points. Trevor Zulkoski notched 10 rebounds.

The Eagles went up 11-6 after one and doubled up Clarkson/Leigh 12-6 in the 2nd quarter to take a 23-12 lead into the locker room.

The Patriots won the 3rd quarter 8-5 to make it a 28-20 game at the end of three.

Clarkson/Leigh won the 4th quarter 14-13.

Hanel had another double-double of 10 points and 15 rebounds while Zulkoski notched 10 points. Lance Paprocki added 8.

Really nice win over Twin River.

The Patriots (8-6) take on Tekamah-Herman (4-11) in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament from Leigh in action that will be aired on 107.9 the Bull Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers fell 66-34 at Howells-Dodge last Friday night.

Clarkson/Leigh beat Tekamah-Herman 55-35 on the road on Saturday, January 9th.

You can bet the Tigers will come ready to play and challenge the Patriots.

Tekamah-Herman has had the entire week to prepare, and I totally expect the Tigers to come out and play a good game.

Clarkson/Leigh has been playing really good basketball as of late though having won 6 out of their last 8 so you know the Patriots will be tough to beat this time around as well.

It should be an entertaining ball game that could truly go either way.

The winner gets Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family at North Bend Tuesday night.

Tip-off is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on the Bull.

The Clarkson/Leigh Girls routed Twin River 65-33 on the road last Thursday night in action that was aired on 107.9 the Bull before taking down Lutheran High Northeast 47-28 at home last Friday night.

Clarkson/Leigh dominated the Twin River game, leading 16-0 after the first quarter and 36-10 at halftime. The Patriots went on to add 29 more points in the second half.

It was live by the three and die by the three for Twin River, as the Titans made 9 shots from behind the arc.

For Clarkson/Leigh, Chloe Hanel led the way with 18 points, while Kennedy Settje had 14 points and 11 rebounds, good enough for a double-double, and Kayden Schumacher added 14 points and 12 rebounds, good enough for a double-double of her own. Korbee Wendt posted 7 rebounds.

The Patriots jumped on the Eagles 16-2 at the end of the 1st quarter. Clarkson/Leigh won the 2nd quarter 10-9 to take a 26-11 lead into the locker room.

Both teams scored 6 3rd quarter points, and the Patriots led 32-17 at the end of three.

The Patriots won the 4th quarter 15-11.

Alissa Kasik led the way with 13 points while Hanel notched 9 points and 10 rebounds. Schumacher totaled 9 points and 8 rebounds while Cassidy Hoffman notched 7 points and 9 rebounds.

The start to the LHNE game was the difference in that one.

Clarkson/Leigh (16-0) hosts Oakland-Craig (10-7) in the EHC Tournament Quarterfinals in Leigh Monday night.

The Knights won 56-25 at home over Wisner-Pilger in the first round of the EHC Tournament Friday night.

The Patriots must come ready to play on Monday.

Reason being Oakland-Craig is a threat to do something in this Tournament and cannot be taken lightly.

Clarkson/Leigh beat Oakland-Craig on the road 39-31 on December 8th.

That game was tight, and I certainly expect Monday's game to be tight and close as well.

The Knights are a better team than their record, in my opinion, and this is not your typical 1/8 matchup in the EHC Tournament.

These two teams played in the first round of State last year as well so you know they are very familiar with and will get after one another.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Oakland-Craig Boys beat North Bend Central, lose to Tri Center-Neola, IA; Girls fall to Tigers and Norris

The Oakland-Craig Boys won 48-46 at North Bend Central last Thursday night before falling 58-56 to Tri Center-Neola, IA at the Nebraska Prep Classic at Sokol Arena in Omaha on Saturday.

The Tigers led the Knights 9-8 at the end of the 1st quarter, and held a 22-21 halftime lead after both teams scored 13 second quarter points.

Oakland-Craig won the 3rd quarter 12-11 to tie the game at 33 at the end of three.

The Knights won the 4th quarter 15-13.

Gunnar Ray led the way with 30 points while Caden Nelson notched 7.

Oakland-Craig led the Trojans 12-11 after one. Tri Center-Neola won the 2nd quarter 18-17 to tie the game at 29 at halftime.

The Trojans won the 3rd quarter 14-13 to go up 43-42 at the end of three.

Tri Center-Neola won the 4th quarter 15-14.

Ray had 21 points while Nelson totaled 11. Coulter Thiele added 9 while Carson Thomsen notched 8 points and 7 rebounds. Jaron Meyer posted 7 points.

Great win for the Knights last Thursday.

Oakland-Craig (14-3) hosts Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family (11-3) on Saturday.

This game is a makeup from Tuesday and not a part of the EHC Tournament.

Should be a heck of a game if it still gets played, and figures to be another opportunity for a huge win for the Knights.

H/LHF won 80-49 at Madison last Thursday night.

These are the types of games that you live and play for, they are the reason you play the game.

Oakland-Craig is having a spectacular season, having rattled off 14 straight wins prior to Saturday's loss.

The Bulldogs have won 6 in a row so they are playing at a very high level right now as well.

It should be a heck of a game one way or another and I hope the weather holds out and the game can be played.

The Oakland-Craig Girls lost 56-39 at North Bend Central last Thursday night before falling 51-35 to Norris at the Nebraska Prep Classic at Sokol Arena in Omaha on Saturday.

The Tigers went up 18-12 at the end of one. Both teams scored 13 2nd quarter points, and NBC held a 31-25 halftime advantage.

The Tigers won the 3rd quarter 11-8 to go up 42-33 at the end of three.

North Bend Central outscored the Knights 14-6 in the 4th quarter.

Sadie Nelson had 15 points while Sydney Guzinski notched 11. Edie Anderson posted 8.

The Titans went up 16-13 at the end of one. Oakland-Craig won the 2nd quarter 8-7 to make it a 23-21 game at halftime.

Norris won the 3rd quarter 11-10 to go up 34-31 at the end of three.

The Titans outscored the Knights 17-4 in the 4th quarter.

Nelson had 18 points while Chaney Nelson registered 10.

A couple of losses to great teams for Oakland-Craig.

The Knights (9-7) host Wisner-Pilger (7-10) in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament Friday night.

The Gators lost 60-26 at North Bend Central Thursday night.

Oakland-Craig should be able to beat Wisner-Pilger although they could be challenged.

The Knights beat the Gators 55-38 at home on December 17th.

If Oakland-Craig beats Wisner-Pilger I think they can give Clarkson/Leigh a run for their money.

The Knights only lost by 8 to the Patriots early in the season, and could definitely turn the tables on Monday should the two teams play.

Oakland-Craig has to come out and play dominating and great basketball on Friday.

The Knights have to step things up and perform at a high level.

This is the East Husker Conference Tournament and the season is winding down.

Now is the time for Oakland-Craig to make a run if there ever was one.

Friday night's game is scheduled to tip-off at 6:00 p.m.

Stanton Girls fall to BRLD

The Stanton Girls lost 71-39 at BRLD on Saturday.

The Wolverines led 21-9 at the end of one, and outscored the Mustangs 24-11 in the 2nd quarter to take a 45-20 lead into the locker room.

Stanton won the 3rd quarter 12-10 to make it a 55-32 game at the end of three.

BRLD outscored the Mustangs 16-7 in the 4th quarter.

Savannah Siebrandt had 13 points while Sylvia Cunningham notched 12. Bridgett Jensen added 8 rebounds.

Stanton (5-12) takes on Howells-Dodge (9-9) in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament at Pender Friday night in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.

The Jaguars fell 49-40 at home to Battle Creek Thursday night.

Howells-Dodge doubled up Stanton 64-32 back on December 4th.

I think Friday's game will be a lot closer than that, however.

Reason being it is later in the season and the teams aren't playing the same as they were early in the season.

I look for the Mustangs to battle very hard in this one and compete and make things close.

The Jaguars may very well win, but I don't expect Stanton to go down without a fight.

Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on the Bull.

Tekamah-Herman Boys and Girls fall to Howells-Dodge

In High School Basketball action from Dodge aired on 107.9 the Bull Friday night, Howells-Dodge came out of the gates strong, and led 4-0 and 13-6 late in the 1st quarter before leading 15-6 at the end of one.

The Jaguars outscored Tekamah-Herman 18-11 in the 2nd quarter to take a 33-17 lead into the locker room.

Howells-Dodge won the 3rd quarter 13-8 to increase their advantage to 46-25 at the end of three.

The Jaguars outscored the Tigers 20-9 in the 4th quarter, winning the game 66-34.

Brock Rogers had a team-high 13 points and 9 rebounds for Tekamah-Herman while Kaleb Quick posted 7 points.

The Tigers (4-11) take on Clarkson/Leigh (8-6) in Leigh on Saturday in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.

The Patriots fell 41-34 at Lutheran High Northeast Friday night.

Clarkson/Leigh beat Tekamah-Herman 55-35 on the road on January 9th.

The Patriots are a much improved team as are the Tigers.

The Tigers have struggled lately, but if they play up to their potential then this can be a good game.

Tekamah-Herman has to play a complete four quarter game, and play at a high level.

The Tigers have done some nice things at certain points this season.

Tekamah-Herman just has to put a bunch of those good things together to pick up a victory Saturday night.

Anything can happen in the EHC Tournament, and the Tigers have to be upset minded and optimistic.

Playing on the Patriots' home floor is a definite challenge, but it's something Tekamah-Herman will simply have to adapt to and overcome.

Tip-off is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on the Bull.

In High School Basketball from Dodge aired on 107.9 the Bull Friday night, the Tigers went up 2-0 before Howells-Dodge went up 12-8 at the end of the 1st quarter.

Tekamah-Herman hung tough in the 2nd quarter, winning it 14-13 to make it a 25-22 game at halftime.

The Tigers tied things up at 25 early in the 3rd quarter before the Jaguars went on an 11-2 run to push the lead up to 36-27.

Tekamah-Herman once again battled back, going on a 7-0 run to close within 2 at 36-34.

Howells-Dodge led 38-34 after three and then pulled away in the 4th quarter, outscoring the Tigers 15-3 in the period.

The final score was 53-37 in favor of the Jaguars.

Kaitlyn Quick paced Tekamah-Herman with a team-high 10 points while Maggie Sheets notched 9. Halle Olsen added 7.

Good, strong, solid effort from the Tigers.

Tekamah-Herman (3-13) battles Pender (13-5) at Pender in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament Friday night in action that can be heard on the Bull.

The Pendragons won 54-38 at home over Howells-Dodge on Saturday.

Pender beat Tekamah-Herman 68-26 in Tekamah on December 4th.

Despite that, the Tigers have to be confident heading into this game believing they can win.

Reason being Wisner-Pilger upset Pender and Tekamah-Herman gave Howells-Dodge all they could handle for 3 quarters.

A few more made shots, especially in the 4th quarter against the Jaguars and it's a totally different ball game.

The Tigers have to keep their head up and be optimistic in this one.

An upset can definitely happen, Tekamah-Herman just has to play strong, great, and outstanding Basketball from start to finish.

The Tigers have to play with poise, and must remain poised and calm and cool and collected and confident throughout.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on the Bull.

Pender Boys fall to Wisner-Pilger and Howells-Dodge; Girls split

The Pender Boys fell 56-50 at Wisner-Pilger last Thursday night before losing 59-31 at home to Howells-Dodge on Saturday.

The Pendragons and Gators were tied at 9 at the end of one. Wisner-Pilger won the 2nd quarter 11-8 to take a 20-17 lead into the locker room.

The Gators won the 3rd quarter 17-14 to extend their lead to 37-31 at the end of three.

Both teams scored 19 points in the 4th quarter.

The Jaguars went up 12-11 at the end of one on the Pendragons before winning the 2nd quarter 8-7 to take a 20-18 lead into the locker room.

Howells-Dodge outscored Pender 21-4 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 41-22 at the end of three.

The Jaguars doubled up the Pendragons 18-9 in the 4th quarter.

Strong showing against the Gators, but a tough second half against Howells-Dodge.

Pender (1-15) takes on BRLD (8-3) in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament at Howells on Saturday.

The Wolverines were last in action last Tuesday, losing 59-55 at Wakefield.

BRLD has been without Lucas Vogt the last two games due to an ankle injury so it will be interesting to see if he is back or not.

If he's not able to play that only helps the Pendragons' cause.

With that said, the Wolverines are still a tough team without him and Pender has their hands full one way or another.

I feel like the Pendragons are a better team than their record and are very capable of playing well and turning things around.

Pender simply has to start over and start fresh and step things up in this tournament.

Saturday's game is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m. in Howells.

The Pender Girls were upset 40-36 at Wisner-Pilger last Thursday night before rebounding to beat Howells-Dodge 54-38 at home on Saturday.

The Pendragons doubled up the Gators 14-7 in the 1st quarter, and won the 2nd quarter 8-7 to take a 22-14 lead into the locker room.

Wisner-Pilger won the 3rd quarter 13-11 to make it a 33-27 game at the end of three.

The Gators outscored Pender 13-3 in the 4th quarter.

The Pendragons went up 20-8 at the end of the 1st quarter. The Jaguars won the 2nd quarter 16-11 to make it a 31-24 game at halftime.

Pender doubled up Howells-Dodge 16-8 in the 3rd quarter to up their advantage to 47-32 at the end of three.

The Pendragons won the 4th quarter 7-6.

Good response on Saturday following the shocking loss to Wisner-Pilger.

Pender (13-5) hosts Tekamah-Herman (3-13) in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament at home Friday night in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.

The Tigers lost 53-37 at Howells-Dodge Friday night in action also aired on the Bull.

Pender beat the Tigers 68-26 on the road on December 4th.

The Pendragons have to be ready to go and on top of their game in this one.

Tekamah-Herman gave the Jaguars a tussle for quite a while on Friday and Pender knows they need to play well after what happened last Thursday.

No game or win is a sure thing, everything is earned.

The Pendragons have to work and play hard, and earn a win Friday night.

The winner gets West Point-Beemer in North Bend on Monday, and I'm sure that's a matchup Pender would welcome.

The Pendragons have to take care of business against the Tigers first, however.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on the Bull.

BRLD Boys beat Ponca, lose to Wakefield; Girls rout Stanton

The BRLD Boys won 57-51 at home over Ponca last Saturday before falling 59-55 at Wakefield last Tuesday night.

The Indians led 9-8 at the end of one. The Wolverines won the 2nd quarter 12-11 to tie the game at 20 at halftime.

BRLD won the 3rd quarter 22-19 to go up 42-39 at the end of three.

The Wolverines won the 4th quarter 15-12.

Dylan Beutler had a double-double of 30 points and 11 rebounds. Toriano Bohannon Jr. added 9 points while Zach Hegge notched 8.

BRLD went up 13-10 at the end of one on the Trojans. Wakefield won the 2nd quarter 14-10 to pull in front 24-23 at halftime.

BRLD outscored the Trojans 20-13 in the 3rd quarter to go back in front 43-37 at the end of three.

Wakefield outscored the Wolverines 22-12 in the 4th quarter.

Beutler had a double-double of 22 points and 14 rebounds while Micah Henschen totaled 14 points. Bohannon Jr. added 10.

Good play from BRLD despite the fact that Lucas Vogt is out with an ankle injury.

The Wolverines had to miss a few games due to COVID-19 and the weather.

BRLD (8-3) takes on Pender (1-15) in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament at Howells on Saturday.

The Pendragons fell 59-31 at home to Howells-Dodge on Saturday.

I look for the Wolverines to win this one and rematch with Howells-Dodge in the Quarterfinals on Tuesday.

If Vogt is back for that one I think BRLD wins, but if not then I could see the Jaguars winning again.

That's of course if both teams win their first round games as Howells-Dodge also plays Madison on Saturday.

You would think the two are on a crash course to meet again though.

Still though the Wolverines will have had over a week and-a-half off in between games so you worry about being sluggish, at least to start if you are BRLD.

The Wolverines should be able to overcome a slow start should they have one, however.

Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. in Howells.

The BRLD Girls routed Stanton 71-39 at home on Saturday.

Jordan Snyder had 19 points while Isabel Freemont totaled 18. Caragan Tietz recorded 10 points and 9 assists while Alyssa Buchholz notched 10 points.

Dominant win for the Wolverines.

BRLD (11-4) takes on Twin River (2-15) in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament at Humphrey Friday night.

The Titans lost 53-32 at West Point-Beemer last Friday night.

The Wolverines should be able to roll and dominate in this one.

Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family would be a tough challenge should the two teams play on Monday, but I think BRLD can beat the Bulldogs.

I really feel as if the Wolverines could be a Darkhorse/Sleeper in this tournament.

I feel like BRLD has a good chance to make some noise and make a run in this tournament.

Friday night's game is scheduled to tip-off at 6:00 p.m.

GACC Boys fall to O'Neill and Hartington Cedar Catholic; Girls beat both

The GACC Boys came up short against both O'Neill and Hartington Cedar Catholic last week, falling 56-49 to the Eagles on the road Friday night, and 61-46 at home to the Trojans on Saturday.

O'Neill jumped out to a 9-6 lead after one. Both teams scored 12 2nd quarter points, and the halftime score was 21-18 in favor of the Eagles.

GACC won the 3rd quarter 13-12 to make it a 33-31 game at the end of three.

O'Neill outscored the Bluejays 23-18 in the 4th quarter.

The Trojans went up 11-7 after one, and won the 2nd quarter 16-13 to take a 27-20 lead into the locker room.

Both teams scored 12 points in the 3rd quarter, and Cedar Catholic led 39-32 at the end of three.

The Trojans outscored GACC 22-14 in the 4th quarter.

Good effort on Friday, but a slow start and not finishing on Saturday was the difference in that one.

The Bluejays (3-12) host Mead (9-4) Thursday night in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.

The Raiders won 44-23 at home over David City Tuesday night.

Mead has some huge wins and is a solid team.

A lot of the teams the Raiders play though are in D-1 or D-2 as opposed to C-2 and C-1 like GACC's schedule consists primarily of.

So what I'm saying is the teams' records are deceiving in this one.

That and the Bluejays are at home.

The Softball Team will be presented with the State Softball Championship banner at halftime of the game so that should excite and energize the team for sure.

GACC is accustomed and used to winning State Championships, and has a State Championship atmosphere at the school.

The Bluejays have to treat this game against Mead as if they were playing for a State Championship.

I think that would certainly help GACC get over the hump in this one.

Tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on the Bull.

The GACC Girls picked up a big 54-41 win at O'Neill Friday night before defeating Hartington Cedar Catholic 51-47 at home on Saturday.

The Eagles jumped out to a 16-12 lead at the end of one before the Bluejays outscored O'Neill 14-8 in the 2nd quarter to take a 26-24 lead into the locker room.

GACC outscored the Eagles 14-5 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 40-29 at the end of three.

The Bluejays won the 4th quarter 14-12.

Brenna Rief had 22 points while Sophia Hass totaled 9 points and 10 rebounds. Kassidy Kaup added 8 points.

The Trojans went up 13-12 at the end of one. Both teams scored 13 points in the 2nd quarter, and Cedar Catholic held a 26-25 halftime lead.

GACC outscored the Trojans 14-6 in the 3rd quarter to pull in front 39-32 at the end of three.

Cedar Catholic won the 4th quarter 15-12.

Livia Hunke led the way with 14 points while Rief and Taylor Timmerman notched 8 apiece.

The middle quarters were the difference in both games for the Bluejays.

GACC (15-2) plays host to Mead (10-6) Thursday night in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.

The Raiders lost 44-25 at home to David City Tuesday night.

Mead started the season 7-0, but is just 3-6 in their last 9 games.

A lot of that is due to the competition they've played, but the Bluejays are top notch and should steamroll the Raiders.

I wouldn't be surprised if this game is a 40-point running clock game at some point.

And I say that due to the nature of the schedule GACC plays.

The Bluejays play a tougher schedule, more bigger schools, and GACC is a bigger school than Mead.

All of those things plus how good GACC is should result in a big victory for the Bluejays.

The Softball State Championship Banner will be presented at halftime of the boys game and the Volleyball Team will be selling Nachos and dessert so it should be a great night all the way around.

Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on the Bull.

Howells-Dodge Boys blowout Tekamah-Herman and Pender; Girls split

The Howells-Dodge Boys won 66-34 at home over Tekamah-Herman Friday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull before downing Pender 59-31 on the road on Saturday.

Howells-Dodge came out of the gates strong against the Tigers, and led 4-0 and 13-6 late in the 1st quarter before leading 15-6 at the end of one.

The Jaguars outscored Tekamah-Herman 18-11 in the 2nd quarter to take a 33-17 lead into the locker room.

Howells-Dodge won the 3rd quarter 13-8 to increase their advantage to 46-25 at the end of three.

The Jaguars outscored the Tigers 20-9 in the 4th quarter..

RJ Bayer had 16 points to lead all scorers while Blake Sindelar and Lance Brester were also in double figures with 14 apiece. Aandy Dominguez chipped in 8.

Two dominant wins for Howells-Dodge, who has now won 11 in a row.

The Jaguars (12-4) host Battle Creek (8-7) Thursday night.

The Braves lost 64-27 at Pierce on Saturday.

Battle Creek had won 3 in a row prior to that, however.

But the Braves have been inconsistent while Howells-Dodge has been on a consistent terror the past 11 ball games.

I think the Jaguars' consistency and the fact they are at home will be the difference in this one.

Howells-Dodge can't come out sluggish and get off to a slow start the way they did against Pender though.

The Jaguars have to play a complete four quarter game like they did Friday night against Tekamah-Herman.

As long as Howells-Dodge does that they should prevail in this one I would think.

The Howells-Dodge Girls won 53-37 at home over Tekamah-Herman Friday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull before falling 54-38 at Pender on Saturday.

On Friday, the Tigers went up 2-0 before Howells-Dodge went up 12-8 at the end of the 1st quarter.

Janessa Schmidt had a game-high 19 points for Howells-Dodge while Abbey Pieper chipped in 9.

Cassie Pieper led the way with 16 points while Schmidt and Jaedyn Ratzlaff notched 7 apiece.

The 4th quarter was the difference in the Tekamah-Herman game.

The Jaguars (9-8) host Battle Creek (7-9) Thursday night.

The Bravettes upset Pierce 34-31 on the road Saturday.

Battle Creek is a very tough, battle tested team.

This should be a heck of a game that figures to go either way.

I could see Howells-Dodge winning or losing a close game in this one.

The Jaguars need to start faster than they did against the Tigers and Pendragons.

Howells-Dodge has to play a complete four quarter game from start to finish, and come through in the clutch.

The Jaguars need a 4th quarter performance like they got against Tekamah-Herman.

This one is so tough to call for sure, but I will say it should be a barn burner. I will leave it at that.

Wisner-Pilger Boys and Girls lose to Howells-Dodge, beat Pender

The Wisner-Pilger Boys lost 67-44 at Howells-Dodge last Monday night before winning 56-50 at home over Pender Thursday night.

The Jaguars led the Gators 20-12 at the end of one before winning the 2nd quarter 11-6 to take a 31-18 lead into the locker room.

Howells-Dodge won the 3rd quarter 16-15 to go up 47-33 at the end of three.

The Jaguars outscored Wisner-Pilger 20-11 in the 4th quarter.

Tough loss on Monday, but a good response on Tuesday against Twin River, and then another win on Thursday.

Wisner-Pilger (7-9) travels to North Bend to take on the Tigers (10-3) Thursday night.

NBC lost 69-62 to Glenwood, IA in the Nebraska Prep Classic at Sokol Arena in Omaha on Saturday.

Prior to that, the Tigers were defeated 48-46 at home by Oakland-Craig Thursday night.

So you know that North Bend Central will be upset, angry, and motivated given what transpired for them the last two games.

The Gators have to play the way they did against Twin River and not the way they did against Howells-Dodge.

The Pender game wasn't bad, but I thought Wisner-Pilger could have been more dominant.

Either way a tough battle on their hands Thursday night for sure.

I think the thing to really focus on if you are the Gators is playing well and executing on both ends of the floor.

If Wisner-Pilger can turn in a strong performance, win or lose, it could go a long ways with the East Husker Conference Tournament coming up.

The Wisner-Pilger Girls lost 56-42 at Howells-Dodge last Monday night before upsetting Pender 40-36 at home Thursday night.

The Jaguars led the Gators 19-12 at the end of one, and outscored Wisner-Pilger 13-4 in the 2nd quarter to take a 32-16 lead into the locker room.

The Gators won the 3rd quarter 17-13 to make it a 45-33 game at the end of three.

Howells-Dodge won the 4th quarter 11-9.

What a win for Wisner-Pilger on Thursday.

The Gators (7-9) travel to North Bend to take on the Tigers (12-1) Thursday night.

NBC won 56-39 at home over Oakland-Craig Thursday night.

The Gators have won three in a row and come into this one with a lot of confidence and momentum.

Pender upset North Bend Central 59-52 at home back on January 8th.

You can bet that is on the minds of the Wisner-Pilger players as they approach this one.

The Gators would love nothing more than to go into North Bend and upset the Tigers prior to the start of the East Husker Conference Tournament.

It's a lot to ask and a tall task, especially on the road, but I'm not sure many people gave Wisner-Pilger a chance against Pender.

So all I'm saying is anything can happen and that's why they play the games.

North Bend Central Boys lose to Oakland-Craig and Glenwood, IA; Girls take down Knights

The North Bend Central Boys fell 48-46 at home to Oakland-Craig Thursday night before losing 69-62 to Glenwood, IA at the Nebraska Prep Classic at Sokol Arena in Omaha on Saturday.

The Rams jumped out to a 24-11 lead at the end of one. NBC won the 2nd quarter 16-13 to make it a 37-27 game at halftime.

The Tigers won the 3rd quarter 18-15 to close within 7 at 52-45 at the end of three.

Both teams scored 17 points in the 4th quarter.

Not sure if the two are related, but a tough ending to the Oakland-Craig game and a fast start by Glenwood were the differences in those games there's no doubt about it.

North Bend Central (10-3) plays host to Wisner-Pilger (6-9) Thursday night.

The Gators won 56-50 at home over Pender Thursday night.

The Tigers should be able to bounce back with a win in this one after a couple of losses to two great teams.

NBC has to come out with their hair on fire at the start of this one, and must take it to Wisner-Pilger for four quarters.

The Tigers need a big, dominant win prior to the start of the East Husker Conference Tournament.

This is the game for North Bend Central to get back on track before Conference Tournament Action starts, and the Tigers must take advantage.

I have a feeling NBC is going to be a bit angry given what happened on Thursday and on Saturday.

I fully expect the Tigers to come out and play well and with a chip on their shoulder.

The North Bend Central Girls picked up a big 56-39 win at home over Oakland-Craig Thursday night.

Sydney Emanuel led the way with 15 points and 8 rebounds while Kaitlyn Emanuel notched 14 points and 14 rebounds, good enough for a double-double. Cierra Kluthe added 10 points while Ally Pojar scored 7 points and pulled down 7 rebounds.

Fast start and a strong second half led to the win for the Tigers.

North Bend Central (12-1) hosts Wisner-Pilger (7-9) Thursday night.

The Gators upset Pender 40-36 at home Thursday night.

That's the same Pendragon team that upset the Tigers 59-52 at home back on January 8th.

Wisner-Pilger is an improved team from last year, and should have North Bend Central's attention.

The Tigers need another dominant win prior to the beginning of the East Husker Conference Tournament.

The Gators have been blown out some this year, and I could see that being one of those type games in this one.

If North Bend Central plays up to their full potential and the way they are capable of then I think they could very well run away with things.

But if the Tigers struggle to hit shots and let Wisner-Pilger hang around that's when they could get into trouble.

Winnebago Boys and Girls down Lower Brule, SD

The Winnebago Boys knocked off Lower Brule, SD 73-64 at home on Saturday.

Lower Brule got out to a 19-12 lead at the end of one. Both teams scored 14 points in the 2nd quarter, and Lower Brule led 33-26 at halftime.

The Indians outscored the Sioux 23-16 in the 3rd quarter to tie the game at 49 at the end of three.

Winnebago outscored Lower Brule 24-15 in the 4th quarter.

Kellen Crossbear had 25 points while Anthony Earth totaled 21. Dyami Berridge added 8 while Asaias Bernie posted 8 rebounds.

Big win for the Indians.

Winnebago (7-8) travels to Hartington-Newcastle (3-11) to take on the Wildcats Thursday night.

Hartington-Newcastle was last in action on Friday as they fell 53-44 at home to Crofton.

Bago should win this one going away, but the Indians have to come ready to play.

The Wildcats have lost four in a row, but Winnebago has to come out and play as if they're the defending State Champs.

The Indians cannot take Hartington-Newcastle lightly because that's when they get into trouble.

Bago needs a big showing, especially with the Lewis and Clark Conference Tournament coming up.

The Indians should be a .500 ball club heading into the Conference Tournament, but Winnebago has to come out and dominate Thursday night.

Bago got their big win on Saturday, but need a dominant and impressive win on Thursday to really feel good about themselves heading into the Conference Tournament.

The Winnebago Girls dominated Lower Brule, SD at home on Saturday, winning 66-38.

Natasha Deal had 21 points and 8 rebounds while Keisha Snyder posted 20 points and 14 rebounds, good enough for a double-double. Maddy Cleveland added 11 points.

Great win for the Indians.

Bago (7-9) takes on Hartington-Newcastle (5-10) on the road Thursday night.

The Wildcats fell 60-36 at home to Crofton Friday night.

The Warriors are an amazing team, but Hartington-Newcastle has dropped four in a row and five out of their last six.

The Wildcats had some early season wins over teams with a similar record to Winnebago's, but lately those type of games have been losses for Hartington-Newcastle.

Had the two teams played earlier in the season it might have been a different story, but given Bago's play over the last five games I give the Indians the advantage in this one.

I look for Winnebago to go into Hartington and come away with a big, dominant win.

That would be just what the Indians need heading into the Lewis and Clark Conference Tournament too.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys beat Raymond Central; Girls fall to Mustangs, beat Conestoga in Nebraska Capitol Conference Tournament

The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys won 66-40 at Raymond Central Thursday night.

Riley Hoetfelker led the way with 20 points while Connor Larson and Garrett Kriete totaled 14 apiece.

Good, dominant win for the Raiders.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder (12-2) hosts Arlington (8-6) in the Nebraska Capitol Conference Tournament Wednesday night.

The Eagles knocked off DC West 64-54 at home Friday night.

That coming on the heels of a 50-30 loss at Logan View/Scribner-Snyder last Tuesday.

Arlington figures to give the Raiders a tougher game this time around.

LVSS has to be prepared and ready to go as usual.

The Raiders have to be on top of their game like they were last week.

I really think if Logan View/Scribner-Snyder comes out and plays well and plays up to their potential they will be fine.

Still though the Raiders have to be wary of the Eagles based on their win against DC West and the fact that they are a rival.

Wednesday's game could be a totally different game than last Tuesday's was.

Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. at Logan View.

The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Girls lost 45-31 at Raymond Central Thursday night before beating Conestoga 60-46 at Raymond Central in the Nebraska Capitol Conference Tournament on Saturday.

The Mustangs spurted out to a 15-8 lead at the end of one. The Raiders won the 2nd quarter 6-5 to make it a 20-14 game at halftime.

LVSS doubled up Raymond Central 10-5 in the 3rd quarter to cut the deficit to 1 at 25-24 at the end of three.

The Mustangs outscored the Raiders 20-7 in the 4th quarter.

Sophia Vacha had 12 points and 7 rebounds.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder got out to an 18-14 lead at the end of one on the Cougars. The Raiders doubled Conestoga 14-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 32-21 lead into the locker room.

LVSS won the 3rd quarter 8-6 to go up 40-27 at the end of three.

The Raiders won the 4th quarter 20-19.

Grace Schlueter had 18 points to lead all scorers while Valerie Uehling notched 16. Cadynce Stockamp added 13 while Josie Kahlandt chipped in 8. Vacha posted 7 rebounds.

A much stronger 4th quarter for Logan View/Scribner-Snyder against the Cougars than against Raymond Central.

The Raiders (7-9) battle Syracuse (11-3) on the road Wednesday as the Nebraska Capitol Conference Tournament continues.

The Rockets won 52-46 at home over Ashland-Greenwood Friday night.

Syracuse is a pretty solid team who has lost to and beaten a few good teams.

The majority of their wins are over teams with losing records though.

I think LVSS can definitely compete and hold their own in this one.

The Raiders appeared to have gotten back to their old selves on Saturday, at least a little bit.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder was kind of in a funk starting with the loss to Stanton, but perhaps the Raiders have snapped out of it.

Either way, LVSS needs big games from Vacha, Schlueter, Stockamp, and Kahlandt if they want to win.

The Raiders need double figure scoring from each of them if they want to have a chance to beat Syracuse.

It will be interesting to see what happens, I think the Raiders have to feel optimistic at the very least.

Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.

Stanton Boys 3-0 in last three games

The Stanton Boys won 61-38 at home over Plainview last Thursday night before defeating Pender 50-45 at home Monday night, and Madison 61-38 at home Tuesday night.

The Mustangs led the Pirates 13-8 after one, and outscored Plainview 20-14 in the 2nd quarter to take a 33-22 lead into the locker room.

Stanton outscored the Pirates 16-9 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 49-31 at the end of three.

The Mustangs won the 4th quarter 12-7.

Brennan Wragge finished with 19 points while Parker Krusemark had 12. Ian Schulzkump chipped in 8.

Stanton doubled up Pender 12-6 in the 1st quarter. The Pendragons won the 2nd quarter 12-9 to make it a 21-18 game at halftime.

The Mustangs doubled up Pender 14-7 in the 3rd quarter to up their advantage to 35-25 at the end of three.

The Pendragons outscored Stanton 20-15 in the 4th quarter.

Abe Larson had a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds while Krusemark had 10 points. Wragge and Kam Dusatko registered 7 points apiece.

Really nice stretch of games for the Mustangs.

Stanton (5-11) battles Twin River (8-9) on the road Tuesday night.

The Titans won 50-48 at West Point-Beemer Friday night.

Twin River had lost 3 in a row prior to that.

The Mustangs have to look at this game as an opportunity to pick up another win.

Stanton can definitely go into Genoa and come away with a win I don't think there's any doubt about that.

A win would be good momentum heading into the East Husker Conference Tournament.

The Mustangs have to be ready to battle for 4 quarters cause you know the Titans will really want this win.

It should be a good battle that goes to the wire for sure.

Tri County Northeast Boys and Girls 2-2 in last four games

The Tri County Northeast Boys won 64-7 at home over Whiting, IA last Saturday before falling 58-48 at Homer Tuesday night. The Wolfpack then won 49-36 at Wausa Thursday night before losing 55-38 at home to Wakefield Friday night.

Tri County Northeast led Whiting, IA 31-0 at the end of the 1st quarter. The Wolfpack outscored Whiting 17-1 in the 2nd quarter to take a 48-1 lead into the locker room.

Both teams scored 6 points in the 3rd quarter, and Tri County Northeast held a 54-7 lead at the end of three.

The Wolfpack blanked Whiting 10-0 in the 4th quarter.

The Knights went up 17-11 after one, and outscored Tri County Northeast 16-7 in the 2nd quarter to go up 33-18 at halftime.

The Wolfpack won the 3rd quarter 11-10 to make it a 43-29 game at the end of three.

Tri County Northeast won the 4th quarter 19-15.

Steven Sullivan had a double-double of 14 points and 14 rebounds while Nate Oswald totaled 8 points.

The Wolfpackk went up 8-5 at the end of one on the Vikings, and outscored Wausa 11-6 in the 2nd quarter to take a 19-11 lead into the locker room.

Tri County Northeast won the 3rd quarter 15-14 to extend their lead to 34-25 at the end of three.

The Wolfpack won the 4th quarter 15-11.

Sullivan had 12 points and 8 rebounds while Garrett Blanke and Kobe Kumm notched 8 points apiece. Oswald chipped in 7.

The Trojans jumped out to a 21-12 lead at the end of one, and won the 2nd quarter 8-7 to take a 29-19 lead into the locker room.

Wakefield won the 3rd quarter 12-10 to increase their advantage to 41-29 at the end of three.

The Trojans outscored Tri County Northeast 14-9 in the 4th quarter.

Sullivan notched 10 points and 8 rebounds while Blanke and Mason Hall totaled 8 points apiece. Kumm chipped in 7 while Reed Hingst posted 7 rebounds.

Nice wins over Whiting, IA and Wausa, but definitely a disappointing loss to Homer.

The Wolfpack (8-5) takes on Walthill (11-2) on the road Monday night.

The Blujays won 71-52 at Ponca Friday night.

Walthll is a very good team, and is going to be tough to beat, especially at their place.

Tri County Northeast has to go into this one fearless and with nothing to lose though.

The Wolfpack has to continue to get solid offensive production from multiple players.

Tri County Northeast isn't too bad defensively, but the Wolfpack has to work on becoming a great defensive team.

Tri County Northeast has to play lockdown defense against the Blujays and kick their offense into high gear.

The Tri County Northeast Girls won 75-43 at home over Whiting, IA last Saturday before falling 46-36 at Homer Tuesday night. The Wolfpack then defeated Wausa 45-36 on the road Thursday night before losing 47-33 at home to Wakefield Friday night.

Tri County Northeast got out to a 24-9 lead on Whiting at the end of one, outscored them 24-10 in the 2nd quarter to take a 48-19 lead into the locker room.

Whiting won the 3rd quarter 19-13 to make it a 61-38 game at the end of three.

The Wolfpack outscored Whiting 14-5 in the 4th quarter.

Jordyn Carr finished with 20 points and 8 rebounds while Rhyanne Mackling registered 17 points. Carly Dickens had 15 while Brynn Schock notched 11 rebounds. Alli Jackson posted 7 rebounds of her own.

The Knights went up 10-4 at the end of one. Tri County Northeast won the 2nd quarter 14-13 to make it a 23-18 game at halftime.

Homer won the 3rd quarter 10-6 to go up 33-24 at the end of three.

The Knights won the 4th quarter 13-12.

Carr had 19 points to lead the way while Mackling registered 8. Schock added 11 rebounds.

The Vikings went up 17-10 at the end of one. The Wolfpack doubled up Wausa 12-6 in the 2nd quarter to make it a 23-22 game at halftime.

Both teams scored 7 points in the 3rd quarter, and the score was 30-29 at the end of three in favor of the Vikings.

Tri County Northeast saved their best for last, however, outscoring Wausa 16-6.

Carr had 16 points while Dickens totaled 15. Schock added 9 rebounds while Jackson notched 8.

Solid play overall from the Wolfpack I thought.

Tri County Northeast (6-8) takes on Walthill (1-12) on the road Monday night.

The Blujays fell 72-24 at Ponca Friday night.

The Wolfpack beat Walthill 62-22 in the Summerland Holiday Tournament back on December 29th.

That was a big win for Tri County Northeast, and I look for the Wolfpack to win and dominate once again Monday night.

Tri County Northeast has Pender on the road Tuesday night before the Lewis and Clark Conference Tournament.

The Pendragons were upset by Wisner-Pilger so the Wolfpack has to be feeling optimistic for sure.

I look for Tri County Northeast to have two strong showings this week, and head into the Lewis and Clark Conference Tournament with some momentum.

Stanton Girls beat Plainview and Madison

The Stanton Girls have played some good basketball as of late as the Mustangs won 37-24 at home over Plainview last Thursday night before downing Madison 47-23 at home Tuesday night.

Two nice wins for Stanton.

The Mustangs (5-11) take on BRLD (10-4) on the road Saturday.

The Wolverines pasted Wakefield 77-31 on the road Tuesday night.

Stanton has been playing their best basketball of the season over their last four games, in my opinion.

And I think it bodes well for the Mustangs heading into this one.

BRLD has stepped things up in a big way their last two games though, and is going to be very difficult to beat.

I think Stanton can compete with and challenge the Wolverines at the very least, however.

The Mustangs should have some confidence coming into this one.

Stanton just can't be intimidated by BRLD.

The Mustangs have to go into Lyons expecting the outcome to come out in their favor.

In other words, Stanton has to expect and play to win as opposed to playing not to lose.

BRLD Girls knock off Ponca and Wakefield

The BRLD Girls knocked off Ponca 63-53 at home on Saturday before pasting Wakefield 77-31 on the road Tuesday night.

The Wolverines led the Indians 14-10 after one, and won the 2nd quarter 16-12 to take a 30-22 lead into the locker room.

BRLD won the 3rd quarter 18-15 to increase their advantage to 48-37 at the end of three.

Ponca won the 4th quarter 16-15.

Caragan Tietz had 24 points and 8 rebounds while Jordan Snyder and Alyssa Buchholz registered 13 points apiece.

The Wolverines led 19-10 on the Trojans at the end of one, and outscored Wakefield 19-8 in the 2nd quarter to take a 38-18 lead into the locker room.

BRLD outscored the Trojans 25-10 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 63-28 at the end of three.

The Wolverines outscored Wakefield 14-3 in the 4th quarter.

Snyder led the way with a double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds. Buchholz notched 12 points while Isabel Freemont tallied 11. Megan Beutler chipped in 10 while Tietz recorded 7.

Two great and dominant wins for BRLD.

The Wolverines (10-4) host Stanton (5-11) on Saturday.

The Mustangs won 47-23 at home over Madison Tuesday night.

Stanton has played good basketball over their last four games and has shown signs of life and improvement.

BRLD has been on another planet these last two games though.

I think the Wolverines have a chance to win this one big.

The Mustangs could definitely make things closer than you might think though.

BRLD should win, but Stanton is a tough team so the Wolverines have to be ready.

It's too bad the Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family and Oakland-Craig games got cancelled, but there's nothing BRLD can do about those games now.

The Wolverines have to simply get ready for Saturday, and must take care of business.

Winnebago Boys beat Ponca, lose to Wynot; Girls fall to both

The Winnebago Boys won 37-34 at Ponca Tuesday night before falling 63-62 at home to Wynot Friday night.

Ponca got out to a 10-2 lead at the end of one before Bago outscored them 13-7 in the 2nd quarter to make it a 17-15 game at halftime.

Both teams scored 10 points in the 3rd quarter, and the score was 27-25 at the end of three.

Bago won the 4th quarter 12-7.

Great win for Winnebago on Tuesday, but a tough loss on Friday.

Bago (6-8) hosts Lower Brule, SD on Saturday.

I don't know much about Lower Brule other than I'm sure they will be a tremendous challenge for Winnebago.

Perhaps Bago was looking ahead to playing them while they were playing Wynot.

Whatever the case the loss to the Blue Devils was a tough setback.

Winnebago has to bounce back with a great and solid effort on Saturday, and try and come out on top.

Bago can definitely do it they just have to bring their A game and give Lower Brule their best shot.

The Winnebago Girls lost 51-37 at Ponca Tuesday night before falling 57-40 at home to Wynot Friday night.

Winnebago led Ponca 9-6 at the end of one. Ponca outscored Bago 13-4 in the 2nd quarter to go up 19-13 at halftime.

Ponca outscored Winnebago 19-8 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 38-21 at three.

Bago won the 4th quarter 16-13.

Keisha Snyder finished with a double-double of 13 points and 15 rebounds while Maddy Cleveland notched 10 points. Sylvia Valentino added 7 points while Natasha Deal posted 7 rebounds.

Two losses to two very good teams for Winnebago.

Bago (6-9) plays host to Lower Brule, SD on Saturday.

I don't know much about Lower Brule, but it should be a heck of a challenge for Winnebago for sure.

It's always cool, fun, and unique to play teams from out of state, and this is certainly one of those opportunities for sure.

Bago has to come out and play hard and loose and have fun.

Winnebago has to go hard at it for 4 quarters, and fight and shoot their way to a victory.

Bago has to step things up and turn in a big time performance on Saturday.

Winnebago has to put on a show for the home crowd, and light it up from the field.

Bago has to put forth great effort for 32 minutes, and leave the court knowing they did everything in their power to come out on top.

West Point-Beemer Boys lose to Schuyler, beat Tekamah-Herman; Girls defeat both plus Elkhorn

The West Point-Beemer Boys lost 47-46 at home to Schuyler last Thursday night before winning 70-53 at Tekamah-Herman on Saturday.

The Warriors went up 16-10 at the end of one and outscored the Cadets 14-8 in the 2nd quarter to take a 30-18 lead into the locker room.

Schuyler won the 3rd quarter 12-8 to increase their lead to 42-26 at the end of three.

West Point-Beemer made a furious 4th quarter comeback, quadrupling up the Warriors 20-5.

The Cadets jumped out to a 28-10 lead at the end of one on the Tigers. Both teams scored 8 points in the 2nd quarter, and the halftime score was 36-18 in favor of West Point-Beemer.

West Point-Beemer won the 3rd quarter 16-14 to go up 52-32 at the end of three.

Tekamah-Herman won the 4th quarter 21-18.

The Cadets took too long to get going against Schuyler, but a hot start against the Tigers proved to be the difference in that one.

West Point-Beemer (6-8) hosts Twin River (7-9) Friday night.

The Titans fell 56-46 at home to Clarkson/Leigh Thursday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.

This is a must win for West Point-Beemer.

The Cadets must refuse to lose in this one as they need it for East Husker Conference Tournament Purposes and seeding and momentum.

West Point-Beemer has to start the way they did against Tekamah-Herman and finish the way they did against Schuyler.

The Cadets have to come out and be aggressive, and play ball like they mean it from the get go.

Twin River has been struggling as of late so this is as good a time as any for West Point-Beemer to get them.

It can definitely happen too the Cadets just have to put 4 quarters of great basketball together.

The West Point-Beemer Girls routed Schuyler 72-9 at home last Thursday night before rolling 78-43 at Tekamah-Herman on Saturday. The Cadets then knocked off Class B Elkhorn 53-51 at home Tuesday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.

The Cadets (12-3) host Twin River (2-14) Friday night.

The Titans fell 65-33 at home to Clarkson/Leigh Thursday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.

This game figures to be a good measuring stick for West Point-Beemer should they matchup with the Patriots in the East Husker Conference Tournament.

That could very well happen too, but there is still business to attend to first before worrying about that.

Pierce comes to town on Tuesday so that will be a big one, and then there's a game at Wayne next Thursday.

The Cadets could very well win these next three games and be 15-3 riding a 10-game winning streak heading into the East Husker Conference Tournament.

That would be quite the deal, but it's one game at a time if you are West Point-Beemer.

The Jaguars won 42-32 at home over Mead on Saturday.

Howells-Dodge has won 9 straight while Tekamah-Herman has dropped 4 in a row.

It will be interesting to see what happens in this one.

The Tigers have to come out and play well early, and come prepared and ready to play.

Tekamah-Herman has to get out to an early lead and put the pressure on the Jaguars.

The Tigers have to put their best foot forward and play their best game.

Tip-off will be between 7:30 and 7:45 on the Bull.

The Tekamah-Herman Girls fell 78-43 at home to West Point-Beemer on Saturday and 51-36 at home to Oakland-Craig Tuesday night before losing 41-32 at Fort Calhoun Thursday night.

The Tigers led the Pioneers 13-9 at the end of the 1st quarter. Fort Calhoun won the 2nd quarter 12-10 to make it a 23-21 game at halftime.

The Pioneers won the 3rd quarter 7-4 to pull in front 28-27 at the end of three.

Fort Calhoun outscored the Jaguars 13-5 in the 4th quarter.

Three tough losses for the Tigers although they kept things respectable with the Knights I thought.

Tekamah-Herman (3-12) takes on Howells-Dodge (8-7) on the road in Dodge Friday night in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.

The Jaguars won 41-35 at home over Mead on Saturday.

Howells-Dodge has won 2 in a row and 3 out of their last 4.

Tekamah-Herman has lost 6 straight so it will be interesting to see what happens in this one.

The Tigers have to come out positive and ready to play a great game.

Tekamah-Herman has to be energized and loose and must put forth their best effort.

The Tigers have to play hard and must expect to win.

It won't be easy to knock off the Jaguars on their home court, but anything can certainly happen and Tekamah-Herman has to play opportunistic basketball.

Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. on the Bull.
