Winnebago Boys and Girls 1-3 in last four games

The Winnebago Boys went 1-2 at the Great Northeast Nebraska Shootout at in Wayne last week, falling 49-36 to Auburn last Monday at Wayne State College, and 60-57 to Homer last Wednesday at Wayne High before blowing out Pender 85-42 in the 7th place game at Wayne High last Thursday. Winnebago also lost 69-47 at O'Neill Tuesday night.

Winnebago led the Knights 18-16 after one, and won the 2nd quarter 18-17 to take a 36-33 lead into the locker room.

Winnebago won the 3rd quarter 16-11 to go up 52-44 at the end of three.

The Eagles got out to a 22-10 lead on Winnebago at the end of one. Winnebago won the 2nd quarter 19-16 to make it a 38-29 game at halftime.

Winnebago won the 3rd quarter 12-7 to cut the deficit to 4 at 45-41 at the end of three.

O'Neill outscored Winnebago 24-6 in the 4th quarter.

A big 4th quarter by the other team was the difference in the Homer and O'Neill games.

Winnebago (4-6) is on the road at Laurel-Concord-Coleridge (8-2) Friday night.

The Bears beat Homer 65-37 in the 5th place game of the Great Northeast Nebraska Shootout last Thursday.

This is one of those games where Winnebago can't let frustration mount.

Winnebago has lost 6 out of their last 7.

The tough stretch of games continues for Winnebago.

Winnebago has to put their 6 losses behind them and play like they did early in the season.

Frustration could easily mount for Winnebago in this one if they don't play well.

I hope it doesn't, but it could.

The Winnebago Girls lost 60-58 to Auburn at the Great Northeast Nebraska Shootout at Wayne State last Monday before winning 52-49 over Homer last Wednesday only to fall 67-62 in overtime to Hartington Cedar Catholic last Thursday. Winnebago then fell 54-33 at O'Neill Tuesday night.

The Knights led 15-11 after one and won the 2nd quarter 11-9 to take a 26-20 lead into the locker room.

Winnebago won the 3rd quarter 15-13 to increase their advantage to 48-37 at the end of three.

The Trojans outscored Winnebago 19-8 in the 4th quarter to tie the game at 56 and send the game into overtime.

Cedar Catholic outlasted Winnebago 11-6 in the extra session.

The Eagles led 10-6 after one, and outscored Winnebago 16-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 26-13 lead into the locker room.

O'Neill won the 3rd quarter 11-9 to extend their lead to 37-22 at the end of three.

The Eagles won the 4th quarter 17-11 to make up the final score.

It seemed like the overtime loss to Cedar Catholic carried over into Tuesday's game.

Winnebago (4-7) travels to Laurel-Concord-Coleridge (4-6) to take on the Bears Friday night.

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge won 45-34 over Homer in last Thursday's 7th place game.

This should be a good game that I feel can go either way.

I could see Winnebago losing a tough, close game, or picking up a close win.

Things could truly go either way in this one.

It's a complete toss up if you ask me.
