West Point-Beemer Boys and Girls 2-1 in last three games

The West Point-Beemer Boys went 1-1 at their own Holiday Tournament, falling 53-48 to Wynot in the first game last Monday before routing Crofton 71-33 in the consolation game last Thursday. The Cadets followed that up with a 63-57 win at Fort Calhoun on Saturday.

The Blue Devils went up 11-8 after one, and won the 2nd quarter 13-11 to take a 24-19 lead into the locker room.

Wynot won the 3rd quarter 13-10 to increase their lead to 37-29 at the end of three.

West Point-Beemer claimed the 4th quarter 19-16.

The Cadets tripled up the Warriors 15-5 in the 1st quarter, and outscored Crofton 19-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 34-12 lead into the locker room.

West Point-Beemer won the 3rd quarter 20-17 to go up 54-29 at the end of three.

The Cadets outscored the Warriors 17-4 in the 4th quarter.

The Pioneers jumped out to a 20-9 lead after one before West Point-Beemer won the 2nd quarter 19-14 to make it a 34-28 game at halftime.

The Cadets outscored Fort Calhoun 19-7 in the 3rd quarter to pull in front 47-41 at the end of three.

Both teams scored 16 points in the 4th quarter.

I think the biggest difference for West Point-Beemer in the last two games has been the scoring. The Cadets have picked things up offensively, and appear to be a much different team now than they were early in the season.

West Point-Beemer (3-6) travels to Wisner-Pilger (4-5) to take on the Gators Friday night.

The Gators lost 54-50 at home to Arlington Tuesday night.

This is one of those games that figures to be nip and tuck again.

If the Cadets play the way they have the last two games they stand a good chance to win, in my opinion.

You would hope that a game that is close and comes down to the wire goes West Point-Beemer's way in the second half of the season.

I feel the game could be a lot like the opener against Arlington, at least in terms of how play goes down the stretch.

It's the Cadets' job to make sure they win this time around though.

The West Point-Beemer Girls also went 1-1 at their own Holiday Tournament last week, winning 49-23 over Wynot last Monday in their first game before falling 50-40 to Humphrey St. Francis in last Thursday's Championship Game. The Cadets then won 63-21 at Fort Calhoun on Saturday.

The Blue Devils out to a 10-8 lead at the end of one before West Point-Beemer outscored Wynot 14-4 in the 2nd quarter to take a 22-14 lead into the locker room.

The Cadets outscored the Blue Devils 16-7 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 38-21 at the end of three.

West Point-Beemer outscored Wynot 11-2 in the 4th quarter.

Sidney Swanson led the way with 12 points while Reece Snodgrass posted 11. Brooklyn Weddle added 10 while Rachel Groth posted 9 points and 7 rebounds.

The Flyers jumped on the Cadets 16-5 at the end of one. West Point-Beemer won the 2nd quarter 10-9 to make it a 25-15 game at halftime.

St. Francis won the 3rd quarter 10-8 to increase their lead to 35-23 at the end of three.

The Cadets won the 4th quarter 17-15.

Swanson had 17 points and 9 rebounds while Jadyn Meiergerd totaled 10 points. Groth added 9 rebounds while Snodgrass compiled 7.

West Point-Beemer led the Pioneers 15-4 after one, and outscored Fort Calhoun 17-8 in the 2nd quarter to take a 32-12 lead into the locker room.

The Cadets outscored the Pioneers 20-7 in the 3rd quarter to increase their lead to 52-19 at the end of three.

West Point-Beemer outscored Fort Calhoun 11-2 in the 4th quarter.

Swanson led the way with 25 points and 8 rebounds. Snodgrass added 13 points while Weddle notched 8.

Great performances against Wynot and Fort Calhoun, but a tough loss to a great Humphrey St. Francis team led by future Husker Allison Weidner.

The Cadets (6-3) battle Wisner-Pilger (4-6) on the road Friday night.

The Gators won 69-19 at Madison Thursday night.

Wisner-Pilger is a team that is improving and continuing to get better, but West Point-Beemer should be able to handle the Gators I would think.

The real test comes Saturday when BRLD comes to town.

The Cadets have to step up their game and start beating some of these big time opponents.

West Point-Beemer has to get it in gear and get going here in the second half of the season.

Perhaps the win over Fort Calhoun is a sign of things to come in the second half of the year.

The Cadets need some big and signature wins in the second half of the season, and have to step up their game and get hot at the right time.

Lots of Basketball yet to be played, and a lot can happen and change in an instant, but overall West Point-Beemer needs to step things up these next couple of months if they want to reach their full potential this year.
