North Bend Central Boys and Girls beat Fremont Bergan and Columbus Scotus

The North Bend Central Boys won 57-46 at Fremont Bergan Saturday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull before knocking off Columbus Scotus 76-53 at home Tuesday night.

The Bergan game was a seesaw battle back and forth for most of the game as Bergan jumped out to a 4-0 first quarter lead before North Bend Central went on a 9-0 run to lead 9-4 later in the period.

The Tigers led 16-13 after one and 24-23 at halftime.

Things remained tight in the 3rd quarter, but a Kyler Hellbusch 3-pointer to beat the 3rd quarter buzzer gave North Bend Central the lift they needed to pull away in the 4th quarter.

The Tigers won the 3rd quarter 18-13 and led 42-36 at the end of three before winning the 4th quarter 15-10 to seal the deal.

Jaxon Wietfeld had a game-high 12 points to lead North Bend Central while Breckin Peters and Brodey Johnson chipped in 11 apiece. Hellbusch added 9 while Austin Taylor notched 8.

NBC led the Shamrocks 19-13 at the end of one, and outscored them 13-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 32-20 lead into the locker room.

The Tigers outscored Scotus 23-17 in the 3rd quarter to increase their advantage to 55-37 at the end of three.

NBC won the 4th quarter 21-16.

Two great wins for the Tigers.

North Bend Central (10-1) hosts Oakland-Craig (13-2) Thursday night.

The Knights won 71-40 at Tekamah-Herman Tuesday night and have won 13 in a row.

Oakland-Craig's winning streak will definitely be put to the test in this one.

I feel like the Tigers have a great chance to win this one given the way they've been playing lately.

This should be a great game that goes back and forth, down to the wire, but being at home should help North Bend Central.

It figures to be a heck of a matchup and game and I'm very excited to see how this one turns out.

This game is big for East Husker Conference Tournament Seeding as well and it figures to be a huge one.

The Tigers have to play their game and come through in the clutch, and if they do that then I think things have a chance to be all good.

The North Bend Central Girls won 49-38 at Fremont Bergan on Saturday in action aired on 107.9 the Bull before defeating Columbus Scotus 47-26 at home Tuesday night.

In the Bergan Game, North Bend Central got out to a 12-4 1st quarter lead, and led 16-8 at the end of the period.

The Knights battled back in the 2nd quarter, winning the frame 10-6 to slice the deficit in half and make it a 22-18 game at halftime.

Things really tightened up late in the 3rd quarter as Bergan won the quarter 13-11 to make it a 33-31 game heading into the 4th.

Like they did the other two times the Knights closed within two though, the Tigers responded and pushed the lead back up, pulling away late by outscoring Bergan 16-7 in the final period, winning the game 49-38.

North Bend Central's Sydney Emanuel led all scorers with 20 points. Kaitlyn Emanuel added 14 while Cierra Kluthe was also in double figures with 12.

The Scotus game was tied at 6 at the end of one. North Bend Central outscored the Shamrocks 16-5 in the 2nd quarter to take a 22-11 lead into the locker room.

Both teams scored 10 points in the 3rd quarter, and the score was 32-21 at the end of three in favor of the Tigers.

North Bend Central tripled up Scotus 15-5 in the 4th quarter.

Two great wins for the Tigers.

North Bend Central (11-1) hosts Oakland-Craig (9-5) Thursday night.

The Knights won 51-36 at Tekamah-Herman Tuesday night.

I expect Oakland-Craig to challenge the Tigers, but I think NBC will find a way to win.

I feel like the Tigers' length will be too much for the Knights to handle.

These two teams had a couple of great matchups last year so we'll see what happens this year.

You can bet North Bend Central will be out revenge given last year's two close losses.

The Tigers have to be licking their chops right about now so we'll find out if NBC can keep it rolling Thursday night.
